5* for ambiance, the show (violins and opera singers) and the balconies are perfect to watch the show and they feel very intimate as well (like a private party). Feels romantic!
The décor is quite unique with bits and pieces of shows from London's past and a marroccan tent vibe.
The food was ok, but not mind-blowing, which is why I'm giving out one less star.
Had dinner at Sarastro. What an amazing experience with the ambience. The mixed grill was to die for and the rest of the food was good too. But it was the ambience that was the killer
One of the best experiences ever! :)
We went here for lunch and immediately figured it's a dinner place.
Food and service were great.
The ambience was lovely but the place was empty (I guess a function of Monday afternoon). Would definitely recommend for the decor more than the food. Quirky and interesting place.
We love restaurants with live music and we have been advised by some friends that Serastro is one of the best in London, very "decorated" bathrooms!!!!
Stunning atmosphere, theatrical service, delicious food and a golden experience all around. Sarastro is one of my favourite restaurants in London, and I recommend this hidden gem to foodies who are looking to book a unique experience for a special occasion. Stick around for dessert and get the chance to experience their amazing musical show.
This restaurant is nothing like i have seen before, Very theatrical. Food amazing. Service was good. I would recommend. Turkish restaurant with a twist, not like the Turkish restaurants in Kingsland Road.
This place is quite the oddball. The decor inside is very interesting and strange at the same time. It is perhaps the design which makes it the place it is. I have come here quite a few times and have always been mesmerized by the decor and the music played here. The food is varied and average; affordable as well. The staff is quick and efficient. This is a place you cannot miss!
This place in my opinion is suitable for large parties and loud times for it is not at all conducive to intimate meals or outings. Talking about the decor , it is very bold and weird.I am not a big fan of cliff like balconies above my head! The style is majorly baroque and inspired by the french royalty too.
This is not your best bet for food because the main staple at the place is wine and food is merely a side option.
Go to have amazing conversations with friends in the theater like setting!
I had an amazing time here and I will definitely be coming back to this place. The music here is quite charming and makes for a nice and comfortable environment to have your meals. The interiors and exteriors are both richly decorated and quite hip. The seating arrangements are quite luxurious as well. The food was quite delectable and came in huge portions, especially the Turkish cuisine. It can be a little expensive though so keep it for special occasions.
I had a really good time at this place and would love to come back some time. The interiors are decorated in a unique fashion and the ambiance inside quite pleasant. The atmosphere was elevated with the band that was playing music that day.The service staff is very efficient and hospitable too.
The portions of the food is quite substantial and the taste wonderful.I recommend having the sea bass for sure!
This restaurant is conveniently located and also has some stunning views. The quality of food is always top notch and I am pretty sure that you will enjoy your time there if you are planning to visit this restaurant some time. The prices are also in a fairly competitive range.
I have coming to this place for years now! The food here continues to be great. My personal favorite and recommendation would be the beef bourguignonn. The service here was good with very helpful staff. They were extremely friendly too. The interiors of this place are wonderful. The entertainment is also great with some in house opera singers. It is unique and different to a lot of others around. In my opinion this place is good value for money.
I would eat at this restaurant every day of my life had it not been so expensive. The ambiance is super cool and the decor is very interesting. The staff is attentive and friendly. The food is delectable. The wine menu is elaborate and they have a good collection of wine.
I recently tried this place and had a great time here. The ambience was great with wonderful views and comfortable seating. The drinks were pretty decent and the food is excellent with wonderful flavours in it. The service is pretty efficient and thus, I would surely visit this place again and would recommend others to try this place as well.
This place has a beautiful locale and their rooftop bar is an attraction. Atmosphere is very relaxing and temperature maintained is comforting. They also provide blankets without any extra charge to customers. Coming to service, it is decent. The highlight of this place is a good appetizers menu! Definitely coming back!
Went here for a drink and the drinks were really nice , all well made , and served chilled . The service is good too . The only downside was the view from the place , nothing spectacular , and you expect more from a rooftop bar . Lovely place nevertheless.
This place offers some amazing food which is very well prepared and perfectly cooked. The staff is quick and efficient and good at what they do. However, some of the members did seem rude. However, the rest of the service was just fine. If you are going here, make sure it is only for the food and do not have high expectations from the staff.
I went here on a weekend for lunch after our visit to the museum and had a very enjoyable time here. We ordered the nigiri sushi set which was served in generous portions and was very delectable. The tea and soup were relaxing as well. The sushi is not the most delicious one but is very good according to the price. The ambiance is just fine but the service is impeccable. I definitely recommend this for a casual meal.
Having an inclination towards japanese cuisine and after having the cuisine at the homeland country, the standard is set high. This place was a sheer delight. The food was delicious and immensely authentic. Well cooked and well served. The atmosphere is also as enticing as back in Japan. This is our new favorite!
This place always attracts a good crowd because of the lovely food and equally wonderful service . I come here often , and this place has never disappointed me . The service is really nice and attentive , without being in your face , and good value for money too .
I have been to this place a couple of times and each time have had a wonderful experience. The food was excellent and was cooked to perfection. The desserts were amazing as well. The service was pretty efficient. The staff was quite warm, attentive and friendly which makes the whole experience all the more special. I would surely recommend this place to others.
If you are looking for a place to grab a quick coffee with your friends and do lots of talking then this is just the most appropriate place. The almond croissants are a delight. You can savour every bite of them. For all of you who have a sweet tooth the jam doughnuts are a perfect bet. For the summers you can enjoy amazing cold coffee and you are going to love the experience.
This place is generally buzzing with people all day long, and despite this fact, the service is really attentive and very friendly as well. We were here for lunch a couple of days ago and loved almost everything that we ordered that day. We also called for a wine which was suggested to us by the server and tasted amazing.
This is perhaps one of the best restaurants in the city, no questions asked. We reserved a table here to celebrate a birthday and had a memorable time. The food was very delectable and I found it to be of top quality. I have had good food at a lot of places and this definitely figures among the top ones. The lamb is tender and something you must try. The atmosphere is also quite lively and the staff helpful and efficient. Definitely recommended.
I had been waiting to visit this place since long and I have to admit that I had an experience that I will cherish for a long time. It is difficult to find a place for yourself to sit if you do not do a prior reservation. I loved the variety that was offered in the seafood platter. The serving was enormous and I enjoyed the fresh food. The best part of the meal were the oysters. I only missed a kit that should have been provided to extract the winkles.
We have been a fan of this place since many years. This branch which is newly opened did not disappoint us either. The crowd at this place is superb and the menu offers an extensive selection to chose from. Service is prompt and pleasing backed by delectable food and gives you a great dining experience over all.
I recently tried this branch of a very famous restaurant. This branch lives up to its name and offers a great experience consistently. The service is impeccable. The atmosphere is lively and happening. The portions are adequate, the food is delicious. The prices can be steep but not ridiculously so.

We went here before seeing the Lion King for a friends birthday; we decided to take her here for a pre theatre treat. Service was great, very friendly and enjoyable. It was interesting to try some Turkish food, lovely flavours. I had a light meal of hummus and prawns very well done. The setting is fantastic so fun! We were seated downstairs which was lovely but upstairs looked fabulous, next time I go we will be booking a balcony upstairs! And the toilets can keep you amused for hours, if you have children make sure they use the children's toilet! I will be returning soon.
wow have eat there was like be in a inside a theatre , the atmosphere is really particular , you can choose the evening where there are some opera singer or musicians , i have been there for celebrate an anniversary was pretty cool , the menu is quite simple but the dishes are really good i took a simple venison that was cooked perfect , but how i say before the interior design is incredible is unique and for celebrate or spend a night in another epoch is the right location .
I've been to Sarasatro a number of times now and am always excited as it offers a really sensory experience. It's a genuinely beautifully unique place. It's visually busy and cramped; gold and all remicent of theatre land. On the experience alone you will not be disappointed. Food wise Sarasatro offers a good selection of authentic Turkish fair.. The quality of food is (for me) outweighed by the quantity. Which is arguably a compliment. But I've found myself enjoying a lamb dish finding it's been devoured waaay too quickly. I conclude that I definitely love Sarasatro but I struggle with the question of 'would I still go if it wasn't as unique and with such enjoyable ambiance'... Tougher question
Sarastro is one restaurant which you can easily miss out on if you're not walking in the inner lanes of covent garden. However once inside, this place is anything but missable. This restaurant is like a museum from the inside, you;ll keep looking around irrespective of how interesting your company might be. Divided into two levels of seating, the upper tables are knows as the "box" and i can imagine why. They look like the private boxes which in earlier times were for the rich class watching their entertainment. I would say book in advance for them. The lower seating is rather difficult to get into considering the height issues, but once there you can breathe a sign of relief.
Food wise, we ordered the mezze platter(selection of mezzes) which had the regular hummus and piyaz but what i really liked was their couscous salad along with their bean salad. The hummus is very authentic and looks as smooth as a face pack. On the side we ordered Mucver, these cheese and courgette fritters with taziki. I dint enjoy the Mucver as much as I enjoyed the mezze platter.
All in all a meal for the two of us(quite filling) was around 21 pounds without drinks. This place is slightly on the upper side but if they have to put in anymore decorations, they can do with as much money as they can get! :p
The menu also has pastas and a good range of desserts. So there is something for everyone! Do go and enjoy an evening which transports you back into old turkish times!
Went here for our wedding anniversary and absolutely loved it.
The food was gorgeous and our waiter Francesco was very polite.
Would definitely recommend the lamb that my husband had as it just fell off the bone. I had the chicken and it was so tasty as well.
You feel as though you have been transported into another place as you walk in but it was fantastic.
An absolutely fabulous place. More than just a restaurant. The decor is fun, surprising, eclectic and in some cases shocking.. but I love it!
The staff is great, friendly and efficient. The food is outstanding.
Then there's the live music and dancing. The dance floor fills, do jump up quickly if you're so inclined. Totally fun. As I said, more than just a restaurant.
Fantastic friendly staff and a very eclectic location. Food was good, we ate off the set menu. There was certainly enough of it to send us away content. Good selection of wine and beer. We were too early for the floor show but have heard only good things about it.
We went for our dinner on a weekday after work hence had booked it 2 hrs before and they booked us in. The restaurant wasn't so busy but the decor was so different and beautiful. Also the service was great each of them were making sure we were ok and looked after. We had ordered couple of starters and main also a dessert. It was just so yummy. I will post some pics and videos of the food and venue.
Starters: prawn and lamb with hummus
Mains: Lamb shank and Steak
Dessert: chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream
Love the vibe of this place! Their food was also delicious! We ordered the mixed grill and cold and hot mezze and we especially love the kofte (beef patty)💯
Fries on the side were surprisingly good😍
But lamb and steak were a bit over cooked
🙈
The house white was good. Cold and refreshing :)
Service was great! All the staff were super friendly and nice.
The drawing on the wall in the toilet was super wild 😂🔞absolute madness
Lovely theatre themed restaurant. Turkish menu. The cheese borek starter was delicious. If you like lamb go for the lamb shank. The steaks were tender and well cooked. Service was great. Definitely recommend.
One of the best dinning experience in London!
We really had a great time there starting from the crazy fun decorations that will always keep your eyes exploring new items, to the delicious food and last but not least the outstanding live show!!!! We went on a Friday night and it was latin music night and oh dear lord!!! It was so so so fun!
Totallyyyy recommended
Perfect for a pre theatre dinner. They have a set menu including 2 courses for £36. Quirky, opulent interior with balconies and booths making it a more private dining experience. It’s decorated rich fabrics and items from the opera house and theatre land making it unique 🎭
Amazing experience! So much history for a little place, food was good and service with a smile. I suggest going during the evening as they have live performances.
Very unusual place! Cool decor and food was so much better than we expected. Located right in soho near all the west end theatres. Very very good price. Starters are very good, main course was very good portion and taste nice.
Friendly staffs and good Thursday- Saturday show. Good atmosphere!
Great atmosphere, fantastic setting, our party took over the whole restaurant for a late lunch. Looking forward to going back in the evening - apparently there might be live music, opera, jazz etc. The washrooms are a surprise!
Great experience with fabulous food and good music choices that match the surroundings. The sarastro special cocktail is to die for! The cold mezze plate, the lamb rack and the fillet steak were very good, plus the kunefe desert is a main on its own in the size that it's served! The only thing not worth the price was the Mediterranean salad, which felt a bit bland.
I see that there are comments on the service which seem to have been addressed. Our waiter, Francesco, was very polite.
Definitely will go again to try more mains.
P.S. My husband showed me photos of the male toilets, which were adorned with fantastic bacchic murals depicting explicit s3xual acts. Meanwhile, the female toilets had a picture of Charlie Chaplin with a kid and an impressionistic painting of a garden. I am saying this half-jokingly, but I feel a great inequality in this. It's stupid, but that along with the fact that the bill was given straight to my husband, instead of us being asked about who pays what, sort of annoyed me. It's not the 1920s...
Memorable experience with a combination of great good & ambiance
Walking into the restaurant feels like entering another realm from the first step in. The carpet, decor, and lighting all come together to give an atmosphere as though you're entering a completely different land. The vibe gives off Turkish pasha impressions, and the whole night is full of surprises both in terms of food and show
The food was excellent: carefully selected ingredients & well blended spices come together elegantly presented, without going so far as coming off as pretentious.
The restaurant is so much more than just the food itself though, and that's what makes it truly unique in London. The show is a one of a kind experience that makes you feel like you have your own private theater in front of you.
Highly recommend going here.
The one criticism would be for the waiting staff, who could have a slightly warmer attitude, and with whom we often had to repeat ourselves for what we had asked for
Great venue for a night out…food, service and entertainment were superb..and the decor, everywhere, has to get a mention too!
Had to get back to see the fantastic Colin Roy. What an entertainer. Visiting from Melbourne. Saw him.last time. So really great to catch up once more.
He is a guy who really makes an evening shine.
Don't miss his show.
Food, service and atmosphere excellent too.
Everything was lovely here, and the food was delicious. We had the set menu, but I also had an apple tartin, which was expensive but amazing. The musicians and singers were a highlight of the music of our trip, and I was excited to see them. The female violinist, who played while dancing with such spirit, especially stood out. The opera was lovely as well.
