A top notch Italian restaurant that avoids the usual formulaic menus prevalent at most London Italian restaurants. Amazing service and excellent selection of cheeses and cold cuts. Speciality includes sausages and meatballs. Definitely highly recommended
Great food, surprisingly good atmosphere for a Monday night. Has got an excellent vibe. Service was a little slow at first but once order taken it arrived at the right time
Briciole is a place that it’s easy to love, when you’re in the mood for the sheer joy of uncomplicated Italian cuisine, be it a bite from the gastronomy corner or a full meal.
It's a great local Italian restaurant if you live in the area - the type of place you go to with family or close friends. Casual yet cosy, the service is warm and friendly and the food has a sincere, homespun authentic feel to it. We always tend to start out sharing small plates of delicious creamy Burrata with tiny cherry tomatoes doused in olive oil, or luscious sliced melons draped with Prosciutto. And of course there is the pasta – freshly made and cooked perfectly al dente. I’ve tried their gnocchi wi
I’d been meaning to come here for ages but I hadn’t realised it was here. I mean I’d walked past this place and I’d probably even seen a sign, but I hadn’t registered. I thought it was some sort of deli and bar, because that’s all you can see from the road. So on a wet Saturday afternoon, I was thinking about where I could go for a simple meal and I remembered that this was about 10 minutes away and it was on my “to try” list.
Briciole (crumbs in Italian) opened in February 2012 in a quiet Marylebone street, and in terms of ownership is at a cousin of Latium, with chef Maurizio Morelli having at least a passing relationship with the kitchen here. This is part deli, part restaurant, serving sandwiches and home-made bread as well as pasta dishes. The dining room is simple, with no tablecloths, a wooden floor, and plenty of natural light. The menu was extensive and moderately priced, as we shall see. The wine list, however, was exceptionally kind in its mark-ups.
Briciole is located in the non-fashionable part of Marylebone, close to Edgware Road tube station, and even with Sat Nav not very easy to find. You enter in a small deli/wine bar area which opens into a rustic dining room. Initially we were rather unsure about Briciole . The plates that were carried past us while we were waiting for our table to be cleared didn’t look all that appetising and we spend some time admiring the very tacky and obviously fake bricks that were covering one of the walls. Briciole What we realised later about Briciole is that this is a place that’s not about sleek design, sophisticated presentation or reinventing the wheel (≡ Italian cuisine), but about down to earth, rustic and authentic Italian cooking with very little Anglicizat
Good tasty food! Portion size a little on stingy side would be my only real criticism. The tiramisu is brilliant; definitely worth trying if you're there.
Located in a quiet area of Marylebone is Briciole. The food here is simple Italian cuisine. All the ingredients used are very fresh! However I didn't enjoy all the dishes, some of them were somewhat lacking in flavour.
My mother always told us "only eat in a restaurant if it's busy." I've therefore gone through life with the belief that an empty restaurant is to be avoided. My experience at Briciole today contradicts this theory.
It was recommended to me by a handful of people so I was pleased when I rang this morning to hear they had space for my group of four that day. At 1.45pm on a Sunday we expected it to be chock-a-block but it really wasn't. There was only one other table when we arrived.
Our waitress pointed out that the starters, of which the selection is very plentiful, were tapas style, i.e. order approx five or six dishes to share. We ordered two salads (one with rocket, Parmesan and mushrooms, the other with spinach, pear, pecorino cheese and hazelnuts), bresaola, smoked swordfish and tellaggio (semi-soft Italian cheese). All were excellent, and portions were the perfect size; large enough that everybody could comfortably get two tastings of each yet not so large that the main course becomes redundant.
Three of us ordered tagliatelle with lamb ragout and artichoke, and one ordered grilled mackerel. It felt silly to get three of the same yet none of us were selfless enough to change our order just for variety's sake. I was extremely satisfied with my main course; I had forgotten about the benefits of variation after bite two. It was seriously tasty, and all three of us felt that way. The mackerel was also very good.
We shared a delightful pear semifreddo (best described as the fruit of a love affair between an ice cream and a mousse) and drank mint tea before heading back out into the cold.
My mother was pleased to see the restaurant filling up whilst we were there.
At £28 per person (including service) I would highly recommend Briciole. The food and service are both superb.
I went in July so I had the summer menu.
This restaurant has a lovely atmosphere about it, and you completely forget where you are in london when entering. The menu is the most confusing I have ever seen, as it's all separate. So bear this in mind when ordering!
I would suggest you actually ask for bread and oils, as you'll need it to soak up your dinner! Get a selection of Mozerella and meats for starter, and then surprise yourself and get a selection of anything that takes your fancy. Yes, this can be expensive, but this is an experience.
I enjoyed my time at bricole, and I would definitely go back now knowing what I actually need to do. It is an extremely busy restaurant, which can only mean it is Good !
I went with my husband, however, this is a restaurant with families, dates, girls nights out, it has something for everyone, and you can choose whether to eat a lot or a little.
This simple delicatessen and restaurant in Marylebone serves Italian food from Latium in central western Italy, a region that includes Rome. The wine list was almost entirely Italian, starting at £18 and with plenty of choice of £40. Labels included Torre di Giano Lungarotti at £29 for a wine that you can find in the high street for £14, Antinori Chianti 2007 at £78 compared to a shop price of £32, and Gaja Barbaresco at £247 for a wine that retails at £118.
Arancini (£3) were pleasant, with a good risotto centre and reasonably crisp outer coating (12/20). A starter salad (£4) of beetroot, lettuce, walnut and goat cheese was fairly basic but had decent balance of the salad elements (12/20). A mixed salad (£5) of baby spinach, pear, Pecorino cheese and hazelnut had a well-balanced Balsamic dressing (13/20).
Ravioli (£14) with ewe’s cheese and black summer truffle had good pasta, the summer truffle lacking much in the way of flavour, but the filling pleasant (13/20). Tagliolini (£12) with red prawns and cherry tomatoes was the dish of the night. This had good pasta, tomatoes with some flavour and tender prawns (14/20).
For dessert, chocolate cake (£5) with hazelnut ice cream was enjoyable, the cake avoiding dryness, the ice cream with good texture and enough nutty flavour (13/20). Cannoli (£4.50) with ricotta, candied orange and chocolate was also good, though the outside coating could have been more delicate (13/20). Coffee was very good.
Service was friendly, though the waitresses had a hazy grasp on who had ordered what dish. The bill came to £87 a head, albeit with pre-dinner drinks and an excellent bottle of Chianti from Antinori. If you shared a bottle of modest wine then a bill of £45 a head would be realistic. I like Briciole, with its simple but enjoyable food, friendly atmosphere and fairly priced wine list.
Is one visit to a restaurant ever enough to base a review on? Of course you expect a certain standard service but then again, dining can be such a variable experience. Hence, why I hesitate on providing a harsh critique if I’ve only visited once; though I’m always up for giving effusive compliment from time to time to a well-deserving chef whose food rocks my socks. ;)
So for Briciole I can confidently state my opinion having been there at least half a dozen times since they opened.
I’ve tried their gnocchi with bits of pork belly and peas and their Tagliolini simply cooked with asparagus and pecorino cheese. Another favourite is the Ravioli with ricotta and herbs – utterly light and pleasing. I think the only pasta dish I wasn’t a fan of was the Tagliatelle with Lamb ragu which I didn’t like the taste of.
If you go, I urge you to try something from their daily specials menu on the blackboard. My friend still waxes lyrically about a veal ravioli made with pumpkin cream that was the specials on one night.
The rest of the menu is quite varied and extensive. So in addition to pastas, they have selection of cheese and cold meats to start with. And their mains even have a section dedicated to meatballs and sausages. When I go, I always intend to try other dishes but in the end, tend to stick to ordering pasta.
I’m not the biggest fan of their tiramisu – I believe their other desserts are far more superior like the white chocolate cake with lemon zest and vanilla sauce and the vanilla panna-cotta served with chocolate sauce. One night we got to try chef Matteo's new creations – coffee mousse with espresso nibs and crushed meringue bits. Amazing yet dangerous – it kept me up all night!
Briciole is fast becoming quite popular in the neighbourhood. It’s always fairly busy though it’s not yet become the type of place that’s impossible to get a reservation and I think it could become serious contender to Caffe Caldesi, another stalwart Italian restaurant in Marylebone. If you've been to both, let me know in the comment which Italian Trattoria you prefer!
I'm Italian, that Italian that needs to feel like home sometimes to feel better. They don't need to pick up a strange sign at the front of the restaurant to seems Italian... They are the best nostalgic taste of grandma cousins that will throwback taste of years ago. Thanks to all the kindly staff
Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Briciole! The food was exceptional, capturing the true essence of Italian cuisine. Every dish was a delightful journey of flavors. The staff was attentive and friendly, adding to the overall experience. If you're a fan of authentic Italian food, Briciole is a must-visit. Can't wait to return!

A great little place with amazing service and delicious food.
I had a reservation at 9pm. I arrived a bit early but was seated right away at a really nice outside table.
My server, who’s name escapes me, was awesome. She suggested several specials and helped me with a glass of their house chianti - it was not bad at all for a house wine.
I started with the bruschetta al pomodoro, which was fresh and tasty.
For my appetizer I had the arugula salad topped with crab. It was the special and it was amazing.
My main dish was also one of the specials - pasta with clams and mussels. The pasta was al dente and an unusual shape - flatter than spaghetti and thicker. I really liked it, and it went very well with the seafood.
I couldn’t resist dessert. I went with the tiramisu. It was cold, creamy, and dreamy. It went perfectly with my sambuca (yes, they had the 3 lucky coffee beans in my sambuca. I wouldn’t have it any other way).
Overall, the service was fantastic, and the meal was absolutely delicious. I can’t wait to come back.
Kind of food but nothing special: the arancino was the worst I've ever had. The meat was quite dry but ok. Chicken very good, but slightly too salty.
Cannolo has been very disappointing, as it was empty inside.
Prices seemed much higher than the average
Delicious and authentic Italian food in a cosy atmosphere. Great specials menu that changes often, so there’s always something new to try.
Wonderful restaurant: excellent food, great staff and lovely atmosphere. We had arancina, steak with roast potatoes, sausages with polenta and pistachio tiramisu and cannolo for dessert. Everything was simply delicious and made us very happy.
My husband and my go-to Italian when we go to London! Just a cozy Italian family deli atmosphere. We have never had a bad bite! Tiramisu is made from heaven 🥰
Excellent food in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Service was very efficient and the team were all very kind and helpful. Will definitely be returning!
ordered Tagliatelle and linguine, generally good, except the prawns are not fresh enough. the deep fried rice balls my accompany said its bad, cant put it objectively but personally I think its good while the outer part is not crispy enough. would visit again when drop by.
We had a work night out here in the basement, and were served a gigantic feast. I was amazed at how huge and varied the starters were, it was a massive selection brought out on various platters of gourmet Italian food. The wine was flowing, and the service felt amazing and what I would consider authentic. It's also got some nice outdoor seating, too.
Gem. Food is amazing. Service first rate. Charming, authentic, home made pasta. Terrific.
The best Italian restaurant we've both gone too. We ordered the bucatini all' amatriciana, tagliatelle al ragu di cinghiale, melanzane al funghetto, prosciutto di bassiano, and couple double shot expressos. Had to rate all of them 5/5 except the melanzane al funghetto that was a slightly overcooked 4/5. The 16mo aged prosciutto glazes in your mouth and complimented the dishes very well. Service was excellent, definitely coming back.
Whilst holidaying in London fancied an Italian meal. Wow we were not disappointed. Probably the best Italian meal we’ve eaten outside of Italy . Throughly recommend.
The tiramisu is amazing. Will be coming back just for that. The pastas though... Really mediocre.
Pure Italian restaurant
Italian everything
The manager is super friendly
The cheese is super outstanding
Pasta as if you are in Italy
This is probably the best restaurant in London. The service is impeccable (I’m American - that’s your barometer). Waiters are attentive but not in your face. Food is great and there is a wonderful lively atmosphere in the restaurant. Gets progressively more busy as the night gets on. Feels like you’ve stepped into Italy.
What a place. I love all things Italian and this place didn’t disappoint. We have such a good meal and the team were so hospitable. Highly recommend. Enjoy. 👍🏻

We had our wedding dinner here and it was amazing! We had 16 guests so we booked the red room for the night. The place is perfect for an intimate and elegant dinner with family and friends.
STAFF: Anna was very helpful with all our queries and planning. The staff allowed us to come in the day before to arrange this big wooden table with our flowers, place cards, menus and thank you cards. Rosanna was our waitress; she helped us set up the table the day before and on the night of the dinner, she was KIND and VERY ATTENTIVE to every need, drinks, additional orders, etc. we had. Our guests loved her. The staff in the restaurant were brilliant.
FOOD & RESTAURANT: Our guests were Italian, Filipino and British and all of them commented on how the FOOD WAS REALLY GOOD AND RUSTIC and how the STAFF WAS ACCOMMODATING, FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. Overall, it appealed to different tastes and culture. Starters were wiped out as soon at it was served. We had games and speeches in between. Main course had a really big serving so by dessert time, everyone was full and happy. The restaurant has an authentic Italian and rustic feel to it.
We had an extremely beautiful night in Briciole, thanks to the warm and well-experienced staff as well as the delicious array of food the kitchen served. So wonderful, thank you!
