Lovely tapas place to eat with friends. We went to this place on a Tuesday night and it was very busy. The tapas dishes were placed at the front of the restaurant for you to pick up. They all looked and tasted very fresh. Loved the ones with mini egg on top, the bread were very crispy, great to go with any meat or cheese or vegetables on them. I tried the chocolate mouse dessert, the mouse was silky and tasty. They kept bringing out freshly made tapas all the time so you never worry about your favourite dishes running out. They have a nice selection of cocktails, we had 9 glasses of espresso martini! Very great ambience, great for friends to hang out and deemed lights means a good spot for dates as well!
On Saturday, John and I wanted to visit the Made.com showroom in Soho but ... it took us some time to get there. One stop to Leyland for a hacksaw (don't. even. ask.), two test-drives on a Brompton bike at the Brompton showroom, and a supermarket sweep in Nisbets (glass carafe and six French-made wine glasses for under £10 - YES.) later, we made it to Made.
And promptly collapsed on a sofa.
... but not before dropping in to Pix-Bar in Covent Garden for some much-needed nourishment. Totally, completely by accident. But the best kind of accident! Both because we were hungry and also because it's awesome.
The premise is simple: select your own tapas. YES, really. Long skewers cost £2.95, short skewers are £1.95. At the end of your meal, place your skewers in the little jar provided and pay for what you've eaten. Like Yo! Sushi without the conveyor belts. And without the sushi.
But this isn't just any tapas: the flavor combinations were inventive and unique. Think seared tuna, caramelized onions or smoked duck breast topped with a quail egg. And because we were sitting right in front of the bar, we had plenty of opportunity to mull over the options and try what we wanted.
I'm a sucker for the classic standby of Spanish tortilla - it's filling and comforting, as omelettes always are! My eyes also turned into love-hearts at the sight of the seared tuna atop a caramelized onion bruschetta (I know I'm combining cultures here, have mercy!). John and I shared a double-skewered slider of chorizo and cheese (which I couldn't get enough of!) and I helped him polish off his beer. Those of you who know what a lightweight I am can probably now understand why our arrival to Made.com called for an all-out sprawl on one of the showroom couches. No shame there.
We finished off with a delicious churro dipped into a milky chocolate sauce and I sat back in satisfaction - so happy that we (ahem, John) found this little place. Lesson learned: sometimes, detours end in the best discoveries!
Pix Pintxos is perfect for a light bite with friends or after work drinks. Think about it: yummy tapas whilst enjoying your glass of wine, rather than the same, boring pub standard of lightly salted chips (that's crisps, for all you Brit folk!). It's small, but there are more tables in the back, and hopefully (fingers crossed), rising temps in London means we'll be able to dine al fresco soon.
Wishful thinking? Who, me?
A great lunch. Friendly and fresh food. We thoroughly enjoyed our grazing lunch here and will be returning. The system of picking dishes off the bar and then adding them up at the end was excellent.
At £1.95 for small skewers and £2.75 for the larger ones, this was good value for good food.
The Travelling Tikki
+3.5
A casual and chic self-service hang-out, where all the food is laid out at the bar in the front, and there are high wooden tables and stools in the inside room for you to stand around and eat at, and plenty of Christmas cheer. Mulled wine in the air, fairy lights, and people in good spirits. The tapas selection is large, and they keep getting new dishes out as the old ones finish, so there’s plenty of variety. I helped myself to some crumb fried ricotta stuffed olives, a few cod fritters, an artichoke and parme
Love this place, always wanted to open a bar like this, its classic aperitivo so make sure you had there early evening, else you probably just find a bar and no food. 6-9 indulge in lots of freshly made picking food, collect your sticks and pay. Great place.
Was there in 2012. Staff was very friendly and the cocktails were amazing. I took a white Russian and my friend took a cosmopolitan.
For food they have some tapas. They are just to eat with the drink. They are ok.
Its a small and friendly place good for catching up with friends and enjoy a cocktail.
Great evening, drinking G&T’s, cocktails and lovely Spanish wine with the girls!
Really lovely, friendly and knowledgeable staff and great quality traditional food! For dessert, my fav was the chocolate mousse.
Quite a small venue, so if you definitely want to go it’s probably a good idea to book ahead.
Thanks guys for making our night!
Nice cocktails and Help yourself tapas at the bar. Excellent variety and they keep bringing new plate. £12 for cocktails and £2.5-4.5 for Tapas
My Food Journey @Tipsycat__
My friends and I popped in here for some lunch and were delighted with the service and outstanding quality of the tapas available. We went for the £15 all you can eat deal, which is excellent value for money in central London, and it did not disappoint. Cannot rate this place highly enough, will definitely visit again when I'm in the capital.
Food was good. There's some pintxos that have been too long on display. Food could've been fresher. Drinks are good but quite expensive. A jug of Sangria £25 it's a bit pricey. In summary, a night out for two £164... Environment is really good, music and nice staff. Will come back but watching out drinks..
I loved the food here it's perfect for people who want food variety but can't afford a big meal, there was a wide variety of food
We were indeed spoiled for choice. All you can eat for £15, it was worth every penny .
Came here last March and decided to come back. Was much more crowded this time but not a seat right away. Food was good and as expected. Will definitely be back.
I loved this place. A little tapas bar where you pay for what you eat. It does work out quiet expensive though £3/£4 per plate but some only have one piece on! Cocktails were tasty too again be prepared to pay up to £10. The staff were great friendly and funny and the atmosphere was good.
Really amazing tapas place and every tapas was delicious and fresh, and you can have unlimited tapas for 15 pounds which is a BARGAIN, slightly cold in the restaurant but everything else is perfect! Service is lovely too!
Great place for drinks and tapas. Outdoor seating under cover. Cocktails, pints, buzzing atmosphere, great staff. Was served by a guy called Kyle who was just great. Probably the best part of this place. Would definitely recommend and will be here again 👍
Amazing food, amazing cocktails, amazing staff. Beware - you might end up staying a while and spending a fortune! Highly recommended.
Popped in for mulled wine to-go, but ended up sitting down for tapas and drinks. Everything was delicious and the drinks were amazing. Will definitely visit again.
Such a cool concept. Just grab your bites from the bar, all is on display, and keep the sticks to be tallied at the end. Although it's a great concept, the food is average. Their cocktails are really excellent. The staff are just so wonderful. I keep going back and taking newbies with me, in spite of the average good, just because it's such a cool spot! All three branches are consistent!!
We had a lovely tapas lunch here. The food is replenished regularly and is delicious. Such great value! The cocktails were outstanding... such care put into each cocktail! The espresso martini was one of the best I have had!
Absolutely lovely Spanish Tapas. Very cosy place, food and wine extremely good. Nice and friendly Spanish speaking staff .
What a great concept! We don't know this in the Netherlands. Pix Pintxos is a great place to grab a bite in the late afternoon/early evening with a good atmosphere.
Good food and great lunch deal.
Really nice way of eating.
This place works in quite a nice way. You just take food and put the sticks in the glass on the table. They charge you based on the number sticks. It's nice, you just take some, eat when you're hungry, stop when you're not... It's kind of nice.
The food was good too. If I was being super critical I would say you need to come when its busier so they change the food more often, otherwise some of it may sit around for a while.
The drinks were good, no complaints, and the waitresses were really friendly and seemed like a good lot. Weird thing to say I know but they seemed decent.
I'd recommend popping in here if you're in the area and are in that kind of hungry but not hungry mood.
Be careful though, it's really easy to drop a fair amount of money in here if you don't take account of how much you've taken!
We've ended up dining here because our other choices were booked completely until late hour. However, we were not disappointed. This is a very cosy tapas place, where you can help yourself to any tapas on the bar, and waiters will bring you drinks. The food selection and quality was very good, the ambiance was also good. The only complaint is that dining room was too tightly packed and we had to squeeze between other customers on our way to and from the tapas bar. However, this is not a big deal and rather creates an informal atmosphere.
