Banana Tree is the home of Indochinese food in the heart of Notting Hill. The place is very simple with no particular embellishment or theme. It’s also very quiet, with few customers. It could be a bad sign, like the poor quality of the food, but don’t be mislead by that!

Their menu has a lot of vegan and gluten-free options, with pictures! The fried vegetable dumplings with spicy sweet and sour sauce are an explosion in your mouth with the crispy batter creating a perfect contrast with its warm and soft vegetable stuffing. The accompanying sauce is quite spicy.

The Bun Bo Vietnamese salad with satay skewers is da bomb. A bit way too healthy (maybe), but super filling and satisfying. The staple ingredient of this main dish are rice noodle garnished with fresh vegetables, crumbled nuts, crispy sautéed spring onions, a huge (vegan) shrimp chip, and mini vegetable spring rolls, all seasoned with a delicious Nuoc Cham sauce. The skewers, which in the normal version are made of chicken, are made of seitan and it’s a good mock meat choice. The Nuoc Cham sauce has a sweet and slightly spicy flavor. This salad bowl It’s something messy and chaotic, yet fun and colorful to play with!

These Banana “Frotiteroles” that apart from being a lame pun (between fruit and profiteroles) was a complete disaster. They tried to make profiteroles with bananas. A sort of fried batter around the fruit, moistened with a sweet chocolatey syrup; both taste and consistency are sickening (and not in a good way), it’s like eating a too-mature splattered banana. Fortunately, they come with a scoop of mango or raspberry sorbet that save the day!

Defo a place where to eat and try again! Do you like Indochinese cuisine? Let me know if you have tried the Frotiteroles too!

I went here for dinner with my flatmates and quite liked the atmosphere as well as the food. They served halal food, so it's a plus for us. Probably for people who prefer halal as it could be slightly harder to look for one that caters Asian dishes.
The food was a combination of many cuisines in the Southeast Asia region, that is Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, for example. I found not a single problem with any of our food that we've had that night. I must say the taste was as authentic as it can be for London standard. One thing I would like to comment would be the drink, though. My Teh Tarik was not as similar, but other than that, Banana Tree was another delicious Pan Asian restaurants I've tried so far!
The price was pretty reasonable for the amount of food we ordered, and it's not very busy on a Friday night. My flatmate reserved the seats for us just in case, but the restaurant was not very full even though it's dinner time. The service team was very friendly, but it took awhile for the food to come out while there weren't many customers. So I'm not sure why. Regardless, I would come back to try their other menu.

Place is easy to get to and decided to try this place out with a bunch of friends as we wanted a halal joint that's not Indian or middle eastern. Place was crowded and lively. We had to wait a bit to get a table but all was good. We all enjoyed the dishes ordered. I was surprised with how good the stir fried were. We ordered the two choices on the menu and both were really, really good. The pho was good but not authentic, so if you're craving for pho, it might not do the trick. Service was a bit slow as I think they were understaffed but we weren't too bothered by it. Plus, the servers were very friendly and helpful with every request we had. Would definitely recommend and go there again.

Located in Westbourne Grove, an area dense with restaurants, Banana Tree is normally busy for dinner on the weekend, so we booked earlier in the day. Serving a selection of dishes from the Indochina region, they offer a varied menu, with quite a few vegetarian options.

Visited Banana Tree with friends for a night to celebrate my Birthday. The staff were good , the place buzzing thanks to its location in central London. We ordered a variety of starters and main course and the food quality was pretty good. The service though was pretty slow and it took quite a long time for the food to come and was sometimes impossible to find a waiter to order some extra portions of food.South Asian food - you get what you ask for there !Service - 3/5Food - 4/5Menu and Location - 4.5/5Vegetarian variety - Limited.

For a lunchtime visit (as I work near Paddington Station during the week), I decided to try out this place as I had heard good reviews about it.  The ambience in the restaurant is very lively as they have an express lunchtime menu and it seems to get busy very quickly (especially on a Friday when I visited) but you still don't feel rushed like you need to get in and out so it was quite relaxed.  You get served extremely quickly and the staff are polite and professional which further impressed me.
Now on to the food (the important part!).
For the starter I had the Viatnamese Monk's Spring Rolls, which were traditional small sized spring rolls which you wrapped in lettuce along with some fresh herbs such as corriander and mint (instructions on a small card were also provided!)  To compliment these was a chilli sauce dip (Nuoc Cham).  The combination of flavours were fantastic especially with the mint and corriander and I thought a great way to eat spring rolls. For the main course, I decided to go with a personal favourite,  beef rendang (known as The Legendary Rendang here).  It came accompanied with a beansprout salad and portion of rice and the portions where just about right.  Again the balance and combination of flavours were delicious and the rendang wasn't too spicy, plus the beef was how I expect it to be in a rendang; tender and slow cooked.  Definitely recommended!Price wise it was very reasonable, I had a starter, a main course and large bottle of still water, that came to about £16 (including service charge), so I will be definitely going back again in the near future.

Banana Tree in Westbourne Grove is one of the best Asian-Fusion type restaurants my wife and I have been to in London for an extremity decent price. Flavors were smoky, spicy, and savory and the service was great. Will definitely be going again soon.

This restaurant has a great ambience, timely and polite service, and great food. The wait staff are knowledgeable and helpful when you ask them question about the menu and for recommendations. The food was presented in a lovely manner and tasted fresh and authentic. The variety of the menu was also very good - there were options for vegetarians too! Try the duck pancakes ☺

Really tasty great quality food. The quality of food was fresh fruit juices were freshly squeezed. Elijah and Elvin provided a great service. Top notch coconut icecream. Good value for money considering the quality of food provided. But for a family of 4 with student discount and kids eat free was about £60. Lost a start as dont take cash.

The food was very good, service too. However, as this is a part of a restaurant chain, some individuality was missing. Still, a safe choice for all lovers of Asian food in London.

Took a punt on this place as it had good reviews . I'm glad I did as the food is really really good and reasonably priced . Two for one cocktails are also good . The mojito was nice . Service was good and the atmosphere was chilled and it wasn't that busy . The laksa was delicious just right . The chicken skewers were good too . They had a nice side dish of rice parcels that were wrapped in banana leafs. The satay sauce was superb and it was a good amount a lot of places don't give you enough but here it's the perfect amount . If I'm in the neighborhood again I'll definitely try something else in the menu .
