If it isn't too obvious, the restaurant is dedicated to serving sea bounty from shellfish to molluscs to fins and tails.
There's a wet fish counter as you walk in, but thankfully it doesn't smell like you're visiting your local fishmongers. The seafood is fresh, seasonal and mostly sourced in the UK (particularly in Devon and the south coast).
The place has a smart elegance to it; its interior design is aesthetically pleasing with a sophisticated but relaxed vibe. There's a bar tucked by a corner while wine racks surround the area and serve as a divider. Blackboards with daily specials cover some walls (although handwriting can be difficult to read!)
Fishworks on Swallow Street is pretty cool, I think. It's a really nice space and food was fresh and very well prepared. Service was warm and the ambience is very chilled out. It's a place where you can take your parents, your buddies, your dates or your colleagues. I'll definitely be back, perhaps on Meatless Mondays!
I love cooking and cook a lot these days and one of my favourite places where to buy fish is FishWorks shop on Marylebone High Street. They always have the freshest and nicest fish in the shop and you can get premium lobster, tuna (the sort you eat raw), oysters and other amazing fish and shellfish. Besides the shop, they also have a restaurant and one day we decided to try it out and go there. Besides this Marylebone High Street restaurant, FishWorks also has a restaurant on Swallow Street near Piccadilly, where just like in the Marylebone one, they serve the freshest and highest quality seafood. A lot of restaurants say they serve fresh and sustainable seafood, but you can really taste it at Fish Works, and there is no doubt that this fish and shellfish is superior to a lot of the other ones you can get. We had booked our table via open table a

If you haven’t been to Fishworks yet, book a table! The bill will shock you a little bit though despite the number of glasses of wine you down (perhaps it’s because of the number of glasses of wine you down…). So be prepared – we had to do this one on our credit card. Not ideal I know, but once in a while a little indulgence isn’t a bad thing is it? :p - See more at: http://ohsocrumbtious.co.uk/review-fishworks-swallow-street/#sthash.Rr3KPDLb.dpuf
I booked a place for myself here via their website and mentioned that I'd be using my taste card. Got a confirmation by mail.
It was mostly empty - may be because I had gone for lunch on a weekday. The waitress who served me was very friendly.
I ordered a glass of wine, chips and marinated oysters. She got me complimentary bread which was absolutely delicious ( I wanted to ask her if they had baked it in house)
For mains I ordered grilled scallops (6 pieces - you can also order 3) The entire food was fresh and delicious. If you love sea food, you really must try Fishworks once.
It's a little expensive restaurant, but they usually have some offers (check their website before booking) going on. Also, they accept taste card. My bill came about 40 pounds and with the taste card discount, I paid 20.
Solid choice for pre theatre dinner. Very impressed with the quality of our meal, particularly my pan seared trout. Nicely seasoned, quality fresh fish, and beautifully cooked. Also worth noting that the sides - too often an afterthought - were exceptional.
£100 for two people, including bread basket, two sides, mains, and two glasses of wine was reasonable considering the quality of the food and the location. Portion sizes were standard, though for £5.75, I’d have appreciated a few more pieces of their yummy freshly baked sourdough.
A very good selection of fish for seafood enthusiasts. It has a regular menu along with a daily catch menu with whatever is available on the day, cooked either grilled or pan fried. Very appreciating that they actually show you the whole fish before they are sent to the kitchen! The fish was nicely cooked and tasted great. Their chips are surprisingly good and we even asked for an extra portion. The raw oysters were just about average and a bit pricey for the quality.
The restaurant looks really neat.
We had two set of Oysters and champagne.
Oysters 🦪 were okay.
Champagne was not cold enough.
Service a bit sad. Not engaging.
Small details can make experience better or worse. We would come back again anyway because the atmosphere and the feel is really good.
When we entered into this nicely designed restaurant, it represented just the right ambience for a seafood restaurant. From the colors of the walls to the pictures of fishermen, lighting, wood elements and everything else, this restaurant was tastefully designed. The display of freshly caught fish, was just enough to let their customers know, that what they’re about to order will be well prepared, seasoned just right and beautifully presented. Job well done.
Went there with relatives in town in a quiet Monday evening. There weren't many customers in there. No complaints on food but they were not remarkable either. The turbot dish was the best amongst all.
We came here for lunch without booking. They seated us promptly and served us quickly. The fish looks and tastes fresh. Highlight were the scallops. I had the quinoa salad with tofu (veggie option) and it was very tasty.
Lots of choice but falls short, especially for the price point. Seabass fillet was beautifully smoky and grilled but I came across so many bones whilst eating it, sort of put me off. The day’s special Hake was also tasty and the beetroot salad was a highlight. Fried whitebait also a good starter. Otherwise, fairly expensive for the quality of food and having to add on sides for a complete meal.
Great place with fun atmosphere. Friendly staff and a few local beers. Had to try the fish n chips and did not disappoint! 2 versions: Halibut was light and flaky and the cod had a little more flavor.
Had a lovely evening here for dinner.
Service was impeccable, I had the fish soup, followed by tuna carpaccio and monkfish, which was absolutely delightful.
I recommend the pannacotta espresso!! 👌🏻❤️
Thank you very much!
A superb meal.
We had the Mussels and Wild Prawns Starters. Decent portion size and very tasty.
For mains we had Cornish Mackerel and Fish and Chips (Halibut). Both were exceptional.
Good cocktails before our meal, followed by a great selection of wine by the glass.
Our server was very attentive, we didn't feel rushed at all.
We were there on a quiet day, so had to put up with a loud and rather obnoxious person airing her partner's issues in public for all to hear. Not the restaurants' fault of course!
*Pictures are from 2 dinners. Repeated items were ordered therefore the repetition.
I enjoyed the service, the atmosphere!
Food was fresh and tasty, we especially enjoyed the desserts, espresso pannacotta served in a martini glass! The display looks like an espresso martini, creative. Bitterness of the coffee rounds well with the sweetness, the difference of texture makes the experience in my mouth delightful.
Tofu and chicory salad also comes as a surprise. My vegetarian friend ordered this and it was light, subtle, a noticeable olive oil freshness, the delicacy of soft tofu and greens, pairs well with every dish!
Every time we go we order a bottle of Gavi, perfects the entire night.
Exceptional fish in the heart of London. We had a dinner here after various recommendations and we did not regret coming here. The restaurant had an open kitchen, which always has an inviting atmosphere. The fish tastes fresh as well. We got a tuna carpaccio, shrimps and a mixed fish plate. It wasn’t that expensive and would definitely recommend the place if you like fish and want to have a refreshing experience. The staff was also friendly!
The food and the general quality of the fish at Fishworks is definitely good quality. The highlight of the meal would be the scallops , they are super juicy and the breadcrumbs have so much flavour . Everything was delicious but I would say the portion sizes do not equate to the price of the dishes . The grilled seafood platter was so small and unfilling and it doesn’t even come with any substantial sides . The wild prawns starter was also a small portion. Service was pretty good .
Dined in for lunch and would recommend checking this place out if you love seafood. We opted for the lunch menu, and had scallops, whitebait for starter and tuna and mackerel for main, with oysters first. White bait starter was okay, but a lot of whitebait on the plate so a bit samey part way through. Tuna was a stand out dish for me, well cooked and seasoned. Would go back for this dish. Service was also attentive.
The whole experience was amazing. Angela our waitress was excellent and very attentive to all our requests and needs.
The food was top notch. Oysters (carlyle and Lindsguard) were mouth watering. Haddock and chips is deffo a good shout. The kids menu for a restaurant like this is amazing. Our 3 year old was loving it.
We left feeling extremely satisfied and extremely full.
The hardest thing is finding some parking nearby in Central london but even that we found one 3 mins away for free.
Will be back again.
Fish soup & scallops to start, soup is rich, however garlics overloaded on baked scallops.
Rarely to have Monkfish and Plaice in hong kong so we order these 2 fishes. Simple and delicious with mashed potatoes & butter sauce, price is very reasonable with the quality. Service is great today!
Fish lovers give it a try!!
Went in for late 2pm lunch of fish and chips. Best I have ever had (also most expensive I have ever had @29GBP) but worth it!
