Perfectly placed little eatery. The best falafel I've ever had. The staff is super friendly and attentive. I went with my bestie and her little sister, and we shared a lot of starters. Food baby! And they had little blankets for when it got nippy. The little spinach pocket thingies are also a winner. Yum.
Best place for breakfast in London. We got open buffet breakfast and all waiters are warm. Everybody should come here at least for once👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
So so good! Very reasonably priced and the food is fresh, tasty and plentiful. I took my parents here when they were visiting London and this was one of their favourite dinner spots. In addition, the staff are so attentive and friendly. Would be a great place for birthday dinners and big groups. We are local so we will be back soon.
Had a delicious Sunday brunch buffet. Just good, simple food, but incredible value. Nice selection of Turkish breads, salads and dips, and a few hot options as well as fruit, cold cuts and baklava. A very relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. I wouldn't cross town for it, but as a local breakfast I'll definitely go back.
Very interesting spot. The staff is friendly, the menu has lots of entries, and although I'm not a specialist in Lebanese food it was all quite good. 2 persons, we ordered various dishes to share and in the end the price/head was lower than my expectations, excellent!

We came in a group of four to open our fast yesterday. Beautiful cold and hot meze's to start off with, lovely Balon bread with butter and cheese. We really enjoyed the starters and it was very good portion sizes. The main courses were also very good portion sizes and my chicken and halloumi kofte was realllyyy tasty.
The highlight of the night for me was the kunefe (dessert). It was the best kunefe I've had out of all Turkish restaurants. I will definitely be returning just for this particular dessert. It was served with clotted cream which made it even tastier.
The workers are very friendly and our food came really quickly. Very happy customer.
Kilis is the kind of place where love stories start. From the moment you step into the low ceilinged warmly colored restaurant there is an instant aura of comfort. This restaurant seems to emanate a welcoming glow, and the waiters all emphasis this as they graciously greet diners. The wooden tables are small and low, and close together, and in any other restaurant this would be an issue. But not here, as the proximity seems to make it seem more homely and snug rather than a formal dining space.
Was walking by with my boyfriend and looking for a cozy place not too far from Angel station and not too expensive, but definitely, not a fast-food. Then, we noticed this place, the menu was at the entrance and it looked nice. Plus, we always wanted to try Turkish cousins.
We went inside and the place was cozy and romantic. We were immediately welcomed by a friendly staff who served some starters on the house at the entrance. Then, we ordered to mains, meat based - one was lamb and the other was a mix, and then we shared. They were both good, but the lamb was delicious! It was cooked with a sauce made with honey - I assume it is no longer on the menu, unfortunately.
Above all, I loved the ambiance. It was just the atmosphere I was hoping for. I haven't had the chance to come back, as I wanted to try other restaurants in the same street, but I would feel again like trying Turkish in Angel, I will definitely come back.
This is a lovely, seemingly family run restaurant, with a great atmosphere and food. From when you enter you get a sense that the place is the real deal; traditional Turkish lampshades hang from the ceiling and a charming array of mismatched portraits and silver vases line the brick walls of the main dining area downstairs. The lighting glows a warm orange which adds to the restaurants cosy atmosphere. The upstairs seating area was closed as I went on a weeknight but there are seats which line the windows like an indoor balcony.
The service here was second to none. After being given a warm welcome by the restaurant’s owner when I entered, waiters doted on our table all night and were happy to accommodate me when I rather difficultly attempted to change tables twice.
The menu boasts a long list of delicious sounding dishes from traditional lamb shish and chips to chicken and halloumi salad. To start we shared a mixed mezze, which was a decently sized portion shared between three, of which the humus and stuffed vine leaves were a highlight. My main was a beautifully cooked chicken shish which was nicely presented with a side of deliciously fresh salad and rice. The drinks menu was extensive, with draft Peroni and cocktails, as well as a decent wine list.
I would definitely commend this place for its fun décor, inviting atmosphere and great food.
There's a bunch of turkish restaurants in this area, mostly of the Gallipoli series and they're all fairly average which is why I was kind of skeptical about Kilis. However, I was pretty happy with the food I ate at Kilis, I think it's probably one of the better places to go for turkish food in Islington.
The atmosphere is great, they have nice traditional looking lamps and they have special plates for each dish, to suit what you're eating. I thought it was a bit weird that there's a fountain in the middle of the restaurant, but it's not too big and otherwise the place looks quite nice.
The food is also quite good. I had the mercimek corbasi which was really good, and I also had the borek and kofte which were both pretty tasty. I think they can improve their meat dishes but overall the food here is quite good.

The first section of the restaurant is endearing, but the back half is stunning. Here tables are set around a large water fountain with a beautiful enormous Turkish lamp suspended above it. Although this may sound tacky, when surrounded by Anatolian art, smaller twinkling lamps, and Turkish trinkets, this space is transformed into a heady haven.
Would I Want Seconds?
Yes. Kilis is named after a City in the South East of Turkey renowned for its grape, olive and pistachio orchards. This culinary heritage is oozes out of the menu here, as the City of Kilis also happens to be the birthplace of founder Mehmet Kocakerim.
Kilis serves Turkish favourites such as lahmacuns, pides, kebabs and baklava made with home grown pistachios. All food here is prepared by hand using cooking methods passed down over generations. Also available on the extensive menu are Lebanese and Syrian influenced dishes such as mezza and grills.
There are many tempting dishes on the menu at Kilis including vegetarian options too. The dishes I have tasted here are beyond delicious. There is a very unique and authentic hint to them all which can only be the result of pursuing and aiming to deliver the high standards stemming from their culinary heritage.
Can I Afford Seconds?
Yes. Amazing food and affordable prices are a dangerously good combination. Well sized main courses which usually come with salad, rice and bread, depending on the dish you choose, are prized at between £9- £14. The starters are also excellent value for money for the amount of food provided.
Kilis also offers great value set lunches as well as Party, Christmas and Valentine menus. In this way, not only is this restaurant ideal for dinner for two, also perfect for hosting a group gathering for those most important to you.
Overall:
The ethos of the restaurant is to provide diners with a dining experience beyond expectations leaving you eager to return, and this certainly is the case. This is a very special little restaurant, and I’d recommend you bring those who are very special to Kilis.
Nice warm Turkish place in a very calm and cozy neighbour. Beautiful middle Eastern decorations and romantic atmosphere.
The food is phenomenal, extraordinary and exquisite. I have been to turkey and tried the food there, and this place is somehow better. The only thing which I didn't like is the dishes are small, but you can always solve the problem by ordering more. Don't leave without trying the famous Kadayif or the Kunefe as a desert, otherwise your Turkish experience won't be complete.
Really cute area at the back of the restaurant where they sat us. Shared a few things as a group - the mezze was good and the main bread with sausage was very delicious. Also really enjoyed the bannoffee, it just lacked bananas. Seafood with rice came in a big portion, would probably come back to try other things.
Great selection of Turkish food. I brought an Italian friend here to show some examples from Turkish cuisine. I didn't regret it. They also have an amazing brunch menu.
Thank you so much for an amazing meal for my birthday on a busy Saturday night. We were struggling to find a good place to eat and just discovered you accidentally when we saw the outside dining area and beautiful atmosphere. We all thought the food was exquisitely cooked and flavoured, the hosting was professional and effortless, service was efficient and you made us feel very welcome with the complimentary limoncello. We're looking forward to visiting you again, deliberately next time. We had the seafood platter, seafood linguine, pizza, shish kebab and veggie roasted aubergines. Special thanks from Corina and friends xx
Perfect authentic turkish food experience, everyone who wants to try Turkish Food in London must go here. The lamb shish and baklava even much above the average compare to Turkey.
Lamb shish 9/10 (Tender, juicy, smoky grill)
Lahmacun (Meat flatbread) 8.5/10
Baklava 10/10 (Balanced, not so sweet, good pistachio) + tea :)
Bread also will make you already feel like in Turkiye.
Excellent Turkish breakfast buffet. Warm dishes such as sujuc, sausages, menemen, etc. Selection of spreads, dips and salads, pastries, bread, sweets, honey jam cream butter, baklavas and deserts, cheeses, fruits, and more!
They change the dishes and the trays often to keep everything fresh. Bright indoor space with glass ceiling, some outdoor tables too, lovely waiters, great service with unlimited tea. Extremely reasonable prices.
Snapshot of some of the spreads in the picture (first plate to try some of them, this is only a fraction of what’s available, doesn’t do it all justice!!)
Thank you will be back
Best Turkish. we been coming here for six years and still come whenever in town after we've moved. The ezme chilli sauce is the best one on this Upper street. We always order the shish kebab and sea bass. Though we did take advantage of the lunch special which ends at 5:30pm, still good deal. Kofte is just as delicious as the lamb shish. Really good service.
Brilliant meze in the "healthy dinner" - vast amounts of food but well seasoned, tasty, brilliant texture flavour. Service was quick and efficient and a bustling crowd, delicious smells and friendly vibe made for a lovely Tuesday evening supper.
Kilis kitchen is one of my favourite restaurants in London. They have a good variety of Turkish and Lebanese food. My favourite is their sundried vegetable dolma. Stuffed sundried tomatoes, aubergines served with thick yoghourt. It is their signature dish. Restaurant is always packed with people hence booking a table is highly recommended particularly for weekend days. Don't forget to finish your meal with a nice Turkish tea.
Amazing place. We really enjoyed our dinner at this restaurant. I think it is the best Turkish restaurant in London. Really friendly people, delicious food, fast service, affordable prices. I definitely recommend this place.
Met up with some friends for early supper. Food was nice but I would have preferred more seasoning with the lamb casserole I had.
Lovely music played in the background which for louder into the evening which I enjoyed.
There was a mix up with the extra charges which had not been made clear when ordering so I recommend management take that into consideration for the following future.
We came here for Turkish breakfast and it was lovely. Food was great.
Just went here as a party of eight. Plenty of space on a Monday night. Really delicious food! Highly recommend the ‘healthy dinner’ for £16.00 ish. Delicious! Very lovely staff and we loved the choice of music.
Very good Turkish restaurant. Come with Turkish friend for lunch. Lunch meal available for £16 for three courses , very good service and food for sure, but service charge is 12.5%, a little bit high but also normal in London😂
I visit this cozy place regularly - I’m not fan of lamb however the lamb chops here is a must-try; and the chef’s chili sauce - just yummy…Quantity and quality all good, they welcome you as if you are back home, though you expect to wait longer for your orders during the busy hours - definitely more staff needed.
The place was good; had a nice atmosphere, portion sizes were decent too
The highlights to be honest were the starters and lemonade was surprisingly nice
My favourite are chicken wings and lamb adana. Came back second time today since yesterday. Nice staff. Beautiful decor. Good vibe.
Turkish staple in Angel/Upper street.
Lively restaurant serving consistently amazing Middle Eastern food. The service is also consistently great, friendly and caring.
Nice front terrace, and lively front dinning room (the music may sound too loud for some), and a quieter space at the back.
A homemade chili sauce to die for (that they should consider selling in jars).
