I only moved to London 3 months ago but since then I was always on the lookout for a good Filo resto. Thankfully, I came across Romulo’s. Just had our late lunch here yesterday. To my delight, the dishes were all prepared exquisitely and were served all in a good pace. I didn’t have to wait excruciatingly for the food to be brought to our table. The highlight was the Beef Tadyang! It was just very flavourful, I cant find any other words to describe it. The crispy squid, pancit guisado and the pinakbet with bagnet also didn’t disappoint.

For desserts, my friend had mango float which was just average as the taste of the authentic philippine mango wasn’t quite there. I was torn in choosing between sansrival and ube cheesecake, ended up having the latter. It was good, the ube tasted very legit but the crust had some overpowering flavour on its own.

Nonetheless, it was a very pleasant dining experience and the service was nothing short of excellent. I will definitely be back to try your other ube-flavoured creations, sansrival, and the crispy pata! ( I think I already have my next meal with u planned out!)

I would love to visit this place every week if only my budget will allow me to!

Flat out the best place in London to experience bold Filipino flavours. Expect your curiosities to satiated by the very accommodating staff. I sampled ceviche (kinilaw), and crispy pork legs (pata). Presentation and serving size are on point while taste is more tailored to a western palate. Romulo’s kinilaw is different from the more usual acidic assault I have back home while crispy pata can be much oilier and crunchier at Aling or Manong Whoever’s carinderia (canteen).

Overall, the best way to acquaint yourself to Filipino food.

Romulo Café is a restaurant with a relaxed yet formal design with family portraits that give a homely feeling from the moment you walk through the front door. My friend and I wanted to try the best food The Philipines has to offer, so Romulo seemed like the perfect place for us. Going with the chef's recommendations was the ideal way to enjoy the full range of Filipino gastronomy.

The service was superb, the waiter kept the food and wine flowing at a steady pace, describing the ingredients and cooking style of every dish. The Tuna Kilawin, an amazing dish of fresh fish ceviche marinated in cane vinegar with vegetables was so refreshing to all the senses. The Chef Lorenzo’s Pork Sisig was an exquisite combination of chopped seared pork belly with pickled apples and caramelised shallots topped with a fried egg. The Ginataang Sigarillas with Tinapa of winged beans cooked in coconut milk and topped with smoked fish was a wonderful way to showcase these ingredients and we both loved this dish.

Beef and Oxtail were next on the menu and Tito Greg’ Kare-Kare in which the meat is stewed in a peanut-based sauce served with steamed vegetables and their artisan flavoured bagoong was unlike anything either of us have tried before but we both wanted more and more. Then the chicken & pork belly that was twice cooked and marinated in vinegar, soy sauce and garlic with glazed shallots and sweet potato mash was an absolute delight, this Adobo Romulo Style - it is worth a trip to Romulo just for this.

Each dish was eaten with some Traditional Garlic Fried Rice - refried rice with just that perfect hint of garlic - simple yet wonderful! I thought the meal couldn’t get any better, but the Choco-Loko of native chocolate fondant, lemon chantilly and ube puree was a sweet taste to behold. The dessert to end all desserts however was the Sans Rival, a modern Filipino dessert made with dulce de leche buttercream, cashews, chewy and sweet meringue with vanilla ice cream. Every dish was freshly produced and tasted amazing, a unique destination in London’s ever crowded food scene – this is Filipino gastronomy at its absolute finest!

We are in London visiting friends and were treated to this wonderful restaurant. I was very pleasingly surprised to be at this restaurant. The ambience was exceptional and me very proud to be a Filipino. Thank you to the late Carlos P Romulo. The food was very well prepared, the presentation was impressive and the umami was out of this world. Kudos to the management.

Amazing food! We went for my dad’s birthday and the service was really friendly and they sang happy birthday to him. It was great to see elevated Filipino food that still tastes like home. The sea bass and soft shell crab was my favourite. Great balance of flavours and the fish was perfectly cooked. We were already full but couldn’t resist the desserts we saw other tables ordering. They are all amazing and not too sweet. We’ll definitely visit again when we next come to London.

Came for the Friday tapas feast. I prefer the regular al a carte menu, but I would recommend this to people who are unfamiliar with filipino cuisine. There's a huge selection of tapas, which includes traditional fili dishes and some new modern takes by Romulo. I highly recommend their chicken sisig - I'd say its their unofficial signature dish. The calamari and kare kare are also great. You must finish off with their halo-halo, which is so refreshing and sweet. The lechon had the beautiful crispy skin, but the flesh was slightly dry. Also, the pancit was slightly underseasoned and could've been served at a hotter temperature. The servers were nice and knowledgeable about the menu - good for those who are new to fili food. The food came out very fast, faster than if it were their al a carte service. As a result, I think some of their dishes weren't of an ideal quality (the lechon and pancit). I will say that the tapas menu is very reasonably priced considering the amount of food you get. If you're new to fili food, I'd recommend the Friday tapas menu. However, if you're familiar with the cuisine and want to try the classics with a twist, I'd go with their al a carte menu during the week.

I went here with my friends for a pre birthday celebration. My friends had never had Filipino food before and now they avid fans! Beautiful restaurant and lovely staff, the food was 5 Star 🌟 The first thing we had was the calamansi juice and the warm soft pandasal, we then ordered all of the starters to share, what a great way to introduce the flavours of the Philippines. Then we practically ordered the rest of the main menu and desserts. We ordered a fair amount of dishes and the servings were good for 2-3 people. Thoroughly enjoyed my experience here especially the final touches like the birthday song and treat from the staff. My friends and I will definitely be back and bringing more friends to enjoy this spot. Definitely worth travelling to!

Amazing dishes. The Filipinos I went with said it was really authentic and elevated even further. The oxtail and tripe were a winner for me.

First time visiting a Filipino restaurant after wanting to go for ages! We were able to easily book a table via Google and the lovely owner even reached out directly to me too to let me know that Friday's have changed to tapas and bottomless drinks style to allow customers to try everything. We had an amazing time and they were so polite and attentive (especially when you have nut allergies)! I love how the owner oversees everything and when he sees that the waitresses are busy, he will jump in to help. The two of us paid £53 each and we had three glasses of soft drinks and I'm pretty sure 5 dishes each. We were so stuffed by the end of it!

Lovely food. Incredibly strong flavors. I’ve had a lot of Filipino food, but this was a heightened experience. Enjoyed learning the history of Carlos Rumolo and his family. Definitely check it out! And the ube Cappuccino was delicious!

Amazing food 🤤 They give you warm fluffy pandesal and butter to start, which was a very welcome surprise. We ordered the beef kare kare, crispy pata, chicken adobo, and garlic rice to share between 3 people. It was very filling and left no room for desserts! (And we are big eaters) The chicken adobo was just gorgeous. So tender. And the garlic rice was soft and delicious. Drinks were also delicious and unique, we tried the ube martini and Manila lady (flavoured with calamansi). Highly recommend both. Go and enjoy yourself!

The food here is terrific. There are flavors in the food you don't get anywhere else. It's truly authentic. I got a mock cocktail that was the most amazing drink ever and looked so beautiful. The servers were patient and helpful. Can't wait to come back.

My first Filipino food journey with romulo cafe london definitely exceeded my expectations! We went on Friday for All You Can Eat Friday Feast. The buffet only cost £38.5 per person. I love most of the dishes on the menu. Will definitely come back again!

They offer the common traditional Filipino dishes. I was hoping for a wider selection of main dishes though. Unfortunately, probably due to weather, it was very warm inside the restaurant. Overall, it is a nice place to try Filipino dishes if it is your first time.

Food was amazing just a tad bit too hot in the restaurant but we went on a super hot day... the ube martini's the best cocktail I've ever had in my life

We’ve eaten here many times before so it’s about time for a review. On this occasion we tried the Friday tasting menu which was incredible in flavor and in value. All 15 dishes were delicious and some we went back to multiple times. Best pandesal in London. The table loved the sizzling chicken and adobo. Friendly service. Favorite dinner spot for Filipino food in London.

A lovely quaint little Filipino restaurant situated less than 10 minutes away from Olympia Station. The interior was beautiful and filled with plenty of Filipino-inspired paintings and the table decor was gorgeous. Staff were very attentive and always came around to ask if there was anything we needed. You are first served a roll of pandesal (Filipino bread) with butter as an appetiser before your mains, a tiny detail that I loved! Highly recommend the crispy pata, chicken inasal sisig and kare kare paired with the garlic fried rice - everything was super delicious and so moreish, and loved how it tasted just like how we’d have it in the Philippines 🥰 We finished the evening off with halo-halo and my favourite part of the dessert was the smooth, creamy leche flan and ube ice cream that it came with - definitely the highlight of the dessert for me! Thank you and looking forward to returning 😊

Fancy and chic location, the service was impeccable. We loved and would absolutely recommed the The General's Spring Adobo Chicken - the meat was so tender and the sauce was delicious with some garlic rice! All the other dishes were overall good, but it was either a little too much sauce (beef, ox tail and bone marrow kare kare) or tasted a bit too fatty (chicken inasal sisig). The cocktails were lovely.
