Happened to find this gem of a place on my walk around the Russell Square yesterday. The restaurant serves brilliant Turkish food. Ordered Tavuk Corbasi (chicken and coriander soup), Karides (a dish made up of prawns) and Pomegranate juice.
The food was great and the staff were friendly.
A must visit if you’re fond of Turkish cuisine...
An accidental visit to this place for the first time made it totally worthwhile!Delicious food great ambience and to top it all wonderful hospitality and service.Lot of options for vegetetians!
A pleasant environment with polite and friendly staff. The food was very tasty but the meat portions were small and took quite a long time to arrive. The waiter kept forgetting us and made a couple of mistakes (but I think he might have been new). Despite this, we had a very enjoyable meal and I would go back again. It was also nice to find Halal meat, cooked well in this location.
I found this place as I wandered around the British museum. It is a spacious yet cosy place with some really warm staff. One of the downsides of travelling alone is that you can order fewer dishes. And I placed probably the smallest possible order here! I had a pirasali baklali.... which is essentially rice with leeks and broad beans. They also have a complimentary potion of hummus and bread at every table. So that was all I needed for a filling lunch. The service was quick, and the food tasted great. Would definitely recommend if you are around.
Lovely turkish restaurant we were there for dinner, went by mihaan's recommendation .
Food - we had lamb dishes and both were amazing . The aroma , taste , melt in the mouth meat everything was perfect. The house red wine was not so great but as we were totally went by their recommendation. Had some mezze/ starter of cheese and spinach , it was not that great .
Ambience- lot of small pots with beautiful flowering plants. We were seated by the window with view of street and candlenlight dinner. It was not dark though at 8 pm 😀.
Service- very warm they make you comfortable the moment you step in. I am sure this place will be full on weekends .
It was a cold and a wet day when I found this little place walking to British museum for work...I wasn't feeling too well so I ordered a glass of wine and hommus and bread...I was surprised by their warmth and the freshness of the food even though i possibly placed the smallest order ...I didn't order more although I would have liked to as the menu is inviting... I would go back when I am next in London. Loved the vibe and the decor and a seriously popular with the locals!
Was out with a few friends last night. One friend asks, lets go for food, no Indian and something halal was the request. I accessed my internal restaurant database in my head and recall that the Turkish Restaurant Tas was nearby so we went there.
They offer a few set menus and many other items on the menu.
As you can see we ordered different items. Chicken pasta, musaka, mixed grill with tomato sauce, lamb kofta and lamb sish, which is was i had.
They have 2 courses for 11.95, first course is simple starters like hummous and tabbouleh. For the location i think its good value. Presentation was good and portion sizes just right.
I swapped my coscous for chip. Yep, I know.
My lamb was really nice, soft, tender, cooker medium rare and juicy, was brilliant with there homemade chilli sauce. Our waiter was personable and friendly.

Nice ambience and they have a very friendly waiters, food service was good. We have ordered Kulbasti and iskendar, they both were delicious and very well presented, i will personally recommend anyone to have ther iskendar...yummy. The complimentary bread and olive were amazing.
Amazing. Great food. I loved everything I had. I left full and happy :)
Wonderful Experience!. Beautiful restaurant, inside and out. The food was delicious and the menu extensive. The wait staff was exceptionally attentive - extremely polite. Would recommend Tas to anyone who is looking for a high quality meal with outstanding service.
Bring on the bread. We were reccommended Tas by a friend whilst visiting London. We weren't disappointed. We opted for one of the meze menus and were presented with dishes upon dishes of delicious food. Service was quick and we were not pressurised to leave. I was extremely impressed by the fact that the meze options include unlimited bread and this continued to arrive without us prompting the staff at all. I agree the houmous with lamb is excellent.
Great Turkish Food. This is a great little place near the British Museum.
Its everything you want from from a Turkish place, a spin off chain from the people who bought you EV near waterloo, or is it the other way around.
Love the Humous with Diced Lamb, all dishes are lovely and always to the same high standard. Recommended.
One of the best place to eat out if you are around Tottenham Court. Food is excellent and the decoration makes you feel in Turkey. The red busses you can see through the large windows remind you you are still in London...
This place was recommended by a friend and was surely not a disappointment. All the dishes that we ordered were extremely delightful and absolutely delectable. The service here was prompt and the staff was quite efficient. Our bread basket kept getting refilled by the staff, even without asking to do so. The lamb with hummus is a must-have here. I would surely recommend this place.
This is a pretty and tiny place next to the British museum. If you are going to go here, you must be sure to try the humous with diced lamb. Any dish you order will live up to your expectations and leave you wanting more of their high quality and delicious flavours. Highly recommended for those looking for amazing food.
This is a really pretty setting, both from the inside and on the outside. The food tastes amazing, and they have a really large and extensive menu here. The staff was very attentive and very courteous. I would recommend this place to everybody. It is the best place to go to if you are looking for a meal of high quality with amazing service.
This place is worth going for an overall good dining experience either with your date or with your family. The restaurant is situated at a very good location with a nice decor. The food is alluring, enticing and dimply delectable backed by impeccable and very attentive service. Highly recommended for a fine dining!
We happened to visit this place during my visit to London and I have to say, we were not disappointed. The menu was extensive and it actually took us a while to decide what we had to order. When it arrived, all the dishes were freshly prepared and tasted delicious. The service was friendly and I'm glad we visited this restaurant before leaving.
The restaurant is very delighting. Offering delicious and varied dishes from from Turkish cuisine, the place is full of hustle bustle and always busy for all the right reasons ! Coming to our orders, had incredible swordfish, well cooked hummus and artichoke. Portions are great, service delighting, pricing reasonable. What more? Do visit!
I have been to this place before and my first experience was pretty amazing. The interiors are quite spacious and there are seating arrangement both inside and outside. The location too is pretty convenient and i can say that my second visit here was equally good and i would definitely not hesitate to return.
The food here is authentic and quite delicious. The food is cooked perfectly and is packed with a lot of flavor. The mezzes are reasonably priced and worth trying of you're a big group of people. The service is also prompt and food is served without any delays. I would definitely recommend this place.
I was visiting this city on account of a work trip, and since I am very fond of Turkish food, I decided to come here and try their food as it was located quite close to my hotel. It was the very first time that I was dining alone, and honestly, I am very pleased. I ordered their lager and a two-course meal. It was all very cheap and inexpensive. I was given bread and hummus in the beginning also, which was a very nice touch.
This place is near a museum and it is a good idea to visit one after the other. I have frequented this place quite a few times now and found the staff to be very quick, efficient and attentive to their work. It has also improved over time in both its menu and service. The food is absolutely amazing and you must try their rice pudding. Highly recommended!
I have been residing in this city for the past six years now, and I would never miss a chance to visit this place or to show it to my friends if they are fond of good Turkish food. I also take all family and friends who are visiting me in this city to this restaurant.
I love dining out at this place as I'm allergic to dairy products and am not a big fan of meat dishes as well. We generally order mezze dishes, salads and side dishes, all of which tastes fresh and flavorsome. Though we usually don't go for the vegetarian mains as we're full by the starters, I'm sure their vegetarian mains taste equally good.
A good time spent here. I really liked the food they served and the prices are very much reasonable too. The food was yum and was perfectly cooked. The staff was also very much humble and there was no hurry to leave the table even though there was a long queue of people waiting in the restaurant.
This is a pretty famous place and thus it has the tendency of getting packed quite soon. But the good part about this place is that the huge crowds does not reflect on their service at all. The staff remains very efficient and spot on. The ambiance at the place too is quite delightful. The dishes on the menu are quite varied and the selections of beverage decent. Liked it!
This restaurant has really welcoming and friendly staff, and this place is situated just a few minutes away from The British museum. The bread they served was truly splendid. We also called for a Kalamari which was brilliantly prepared and was truly mouth-watering. The overall experience at this restaurant was quite amazing and I would love to visit this place again in the near future.
An awesome Turkish restaurant just opposite the British museum. One can come here for a sumptuous meal after the city tour. The mezze platter is both filling and delicious. The service is unmatched. The ambiance is friendly and bustling with people. It is one of the great finds in the city.
This Turkish restaurant is one of the great finds in the city. the food is delicious and sumptuous and the service is impeccable. Te atmosphere is friendly and fun, buzzing with high energy and enthusiasm. the restaurant is right opposite the Museum and is a convenient stop after the city tour.
This is a very popular place and has a lot of reviews already. In fact , my review may then seem unnecessary. But here it is- In this popular chain serving Turkish cuisine, the standard and quality is just excellent! The serving staff too is quite efficient and caring. The ambiance is in tune with the food and is located in a great area. This might be your best bet for hanging out with friends in a chilled out fashion.
I went there recently and it turned out to be good. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was very polite. The service was quick and it was a great value for my money. I would like to recommend you all to definitely give this place a visit.
I came to this place on the recommendation of the person who was showing us around the city, and I could not be happier to have taken him up on it. All the dishes tasted brilliant and the service was truly impeccable. It was the most quality dining experience I have had in this city in a long while. We ordered a pacanga appetizer, and followed it with kavurma and kebabs and a chocolate cake for dessert. The menu was truly large and comprehensive, the wine list was impressive and the atmosphere was catchy. The guitar in the background was actually a nice touch. I am definitely coming back to this place.
To begin with, it is absolutely necessary to mention how beautiful and open this restaurant is. It is so spacious and airy. The windows are floor to ceiling and it almost feels like you are enjoying your tasty Turkish meal outside. It is worth coming here just to experience the atmosphere.
This is THE Turkish restaurant to eat at. The service is impeccable and the atmosphere perfectly suited for a slow/chilled out meal.
Having frequented this chain (all the outlets) for a while the attentiveness of waiters still never fails to amaze. Continuous complimentary bread/dips/water makes for a very pleasant dining experience.
I won't say much more - because you should just go.
Price tips - the set menu's are some of the most reasonable I have seen.
If you like Tas - definitely check out Ev, behind Southwark station under the railway arches - possibly my favourite bar/buffet/restaurant experience.
It's an absolute delight to have your lunches here after a trip to British Museum which is right outside. If you're in two minds about the cuisine, the Turkish cuisine is quite close to the Lebanese cuisine in terms of taste.
The service is an absolute delight again. The waiters are attentive and considerate. The place is as clean as new. If in two minds about the dishes, go for the set lunch. That's a pretty good deal for the price. The portions are generous and the food is delicious!
Highly recommended for a good lunch at a lovely place!
We picked the Bloomsbury branch of this range of Turkish restaurants, which turned out to be nice and roomy - just the place in which to spend a lazy Saturday lunch. Food didn't disappoint either, with both starters and main bringing enough to the table to make it a good culinary as well as social experience.
The items on the menu were standard affairs: cold salmon, chicken wings and cheese filled pastry to begin with followed by various meat dishes - I picked the mixed grill since I couldn't decide.
Price came to a reasonable £16 per head for no fancy drinks and just enough food to fill us up adequately. It's not often that you get a place with a good atmosphere and menu, so I'll be tucking this away in my list of places to revisit.
You can eat delicious food from Turkey, specifically Anatolia. The first pile was opened in 1999 on The Cut near Waterloo. Its creator Onder Sahan is now chief Hazev and oversees many little pile across the city. The decorations vary widely among restaurants, from the simple to the very traditional, but it recognizes a pile with green screen: potted plants around the front entrance. You can taste very fresh and authentic Turkish pizza (pide), hummus and excellent mezze, really. The lunch menus for £ 7.95 (Monday-Friday, with dessert dish input) are the deal of the century!
The other day I had major cravings for Turkish food, you know those urges that you just have to satisfy otherwise you'll become moody? ...Just me?
Anyway I could not think of any better place to gratify my desires than my local favourite, Tas.
I simply love this place, when in need of good quality Turkish food, that won't blow a hole in your wallet. This is the place to go. So come and join me!
Let me walk you through what I had.
Upon arrival you are given complimentary olives, and hummus with crusty bread.
I went for the utterly cheap Sahan set menu for £9.95. For starters I had the red lentil soup. Main course; lamb shish with cous cous and a chilli salsa.
My partner in crime decided to be more adventurous and went for the Iskender and for only £9.95, it was a steal. He did not order a starter having savaged mine. Old habits die hard you see.
Finally, you simply can't come to a Turkish restaurant and not try the baklava, that would be sacrilege.
Drooling yet? I thought so.
Now this restaurant is one of my most beloved for a number of reasons, the food is always cooked to perfection, the waiters are always attentive, and the decor feels homely yet exotic. You're going to have to trust me on that one, and see for yourself.
Normally I would tell you what each dish is like in glorious detail, but this time I'm going to just let the food do the talking.
So go on and parade down to Tas, you won't be disappointed.

I have tasted Kofte and Somon Yahni. Kofte plate was amazing, meat was delicious and very suitable with couscous and seasonings.
I can say the same thing for Somon Yahni. It was not only super delicious but was a great combination with spinach.
Even though the lentil soup is a bit below my expectations, the general experience and atmosphere was very good.
Lovely fresh Turkish food steps from British Museum. Service is super quick and friendly. They have special menu choices were you can choose from mezzes and mains. Vegetarians will be in heaven.

Nicely decorated to give a Turkish feel.
We ordered the veggie Moussaka, salmon skewers, lamb meatballs and a portion of rice. The salmon was delicious with a crispy texture. Meatballs were also great with rice. We felt the moussaka was missing something and the taste was improved when eaten with the slightly salty rice.
For dessert we really wanted Turkish coffee with baklava but they were all out of baklava for the day. The Turkish coffee was a pleasant surprise and very nice - we had one medium sweet and the other very sweet.
All in all a good place to get a bite to eat and we managed to escape the torrential rain after visiting the British Museum.
Lovely food overall - meat dishes very generously sized, my vegan salad was a bit meanly sized and not super fresh.
Service nice but super grumpy Maitre - like does a smile cost to greet customers? Lunch deal very good value!
Lovely food!! So many vegetarian options! Loved the service and the why the food was put up!
Went here after seeing a west end show as it was in close proximity. Was nice and quiet as we went a little earlier. Staff were very friendly and quick service. Very tasty food aswell. Would definitely recommend this place.
A really nice and friendly atmosphere, well presented and inviting. The food was first class and stirred my memories of Anatolia. Good portions, tasty and with adequate time between courses for it to sink in. Didn’t burn a hole in my pocket. Will we return? You bet we will 👍🏻
Very nice Turkish restaurant (halal food) near the British museum
Amazing food in an idyllic setting with lots of plants and lights to give it that Mediterranean feel. We had the set lunch which includes wine two starters each and a main. You also get some olives and bread with an amazing dip to nibble on. All for £21! Great and attentive service and the food was amazing.
Great Turkish restaurant in the British Museum area. Good menu selection and food quality is decent for the price. The serve staff is friendly and they are generous with the bread. The pan fried sea bass is definitely worth trying, light and fresh tasting.
