Visited this restaurant located in london ahead of harvey nichols. Amazing restaurant. Great service enjoyed the fish soup. And what a huge burger. Great taste served with french fries. Waiters and staff are very friendly and professional at work.

One of my all time favourite restaurants in London. To find good oysters and escargots is usually not an easy task, but Bar Boulud serves both to perfection.

So it was time to place our order and see what the fuss was all about. My dining companion Sam Vanilla, went for the Yankee 17 with the standard patty, iceberg, tomato, onion and pickle. I wanted to shake somethings up, so went for the BB24 which was beef patty, foie gras, shortribs, horseradish mayo, confit tomato and black onion. Talk about taking it to the bridge. I know it was quite an indulgent offer, but this is not available on most Burger places lists, so it had to be done. I can get why people would come here and order burgers. The setting is right, the service is on point and the burger themselves are pretty good. There was just something that prevented it from eclipsing my good 'ole Patty & Bun. This however, was very much firmly placed in my No 2 spot and would go there again. I guess what this place offers is more decadent and interesting burger choices, with one even having confit pork belly.When you see a burger appear on numerous 'best of' lists, you know that is an invitation which cannot be ignored. Whilst I am not an authority on what makes a burger great for the masses, I certainly know what I like. For years now, Patty & Bun has blown all other burgers since that moment I got introduced to Ari Gold on James Street.

Since then Patty & Bun has cheekily moved closer to where I live in Hoxton with two branches right next to Liverpool Street station and on Boundary Street. If that was not enough, they make it too easy for me being available on Deliveroo. Stop! My wasteline cannot take it.

As the last of the Summer dissappeared into a haze of rain, we ventured down to Hyde Park for the last festival of the season. BBC 2 Radio with Take That headlining. This was the time to venture south of the park to the infamous Bar Boulod. As you would expect being in the Mandarin Oriental, it was a it posh. Not offensively, looks of shock and horror thrown our way, just a well to do crowd with designer bags and clothes. All just going The pricing is not bad for a Knightsbridge restaurant in a 5 star hotel. It is very much a special occasion stop-off. Or if one day you feel particularly flash and want to spoil yourself, go for it.about their business.

On the drinks front, they had just opened the biggest bottle of red wine I had ever seen. The last of some supply. They had let us taste a bit and subtly suggested that it would go well with our wines. Sam V went for it, as did I, but I don't why, but red wine just makes me feel ill. I cannot drink it no matter how great it may be. This is particularly strange as once upon a time, rioja, pinot noir, amarone and chianti used to be my tipple. But all of a sudden, my taste buds just changed and said no. I struggled on, but Sam V absolutely loved it so there you go. It was from producer Cap De Faugeres, a bordeaux red blend, best described as a fresh and vibrant red. Again, I am no expert.

There comes a time every so often, that this foodie craves the familiar comfort of an understatedly cosy setting, matched by a dinner that is decadently heart-warming and service that is impeccable yet endearingly-friendly. It’s not as tall an order as you’d expect. If you know, you know Bar Boulud at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park…

Firstly did you know it’s pronounced bar boolie? Me neither until I rang to book Patrick and myself in for a Monday dinner. I’d won a competition with Squaremeals for a three course meal, fizz and sommelier chosen wines! If that isn’t the way to perk up a Monday, I don’t know what would?!

2013 was my last visit to Bar Boulud. Well, my main reason to revisit it again after a very long time is that I've heard that they are adding a Mediterranean menu for July and August 2016. We just walked in so I don't think a reservation is necessary. The staff is very efficient and pleasant. The interiors were those of a typical bar but I kind of liked it.

Ecsgarto Snails: I've tried snails once in LPM but I craved for one in Bar Boulud. I loved the buttery and garlicky taste of the snails. Too delicious! 4.5/5

Classic Greek Salad: the salad was so delicious despite it being an old classic one. Bar Boulud's chef took this to a whole new level. Kudos to chef 5/5

Fried Calamari: the calamari was so delicious. It was so soft and mouthwatering. It wasn't crunchy and it was a bit too oily for my liking. 4/5

Sirloin: the sirloin was a bit too chewy and I have tasted much better steaks in London. Definitely not worth it. 2/5

Yankee Burger: the Burger is like an oversized burger, served with French fries and ketchup. The burger was good 3.5/5

Ratatouille: I ordered this but with melted feta cheese. God! This is dangerously, devilishly, and fatally scrumptious. The vegetables were cooked to perfection. Trust me, whenever you go to Bar Boulud, please order this, you won't regret it!!!5/5

We didn't order desserts because we were full. So please excuse me for not writing about the desserts :)

Daniel Boulud may have two Michelin stars at his stateside restaurant, but even for me, jetting to NYC for lunch felt a little extravagant… So I popped along to Bar Boulud at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park to check out his London base. It turned out it was the perfect time to visit, coinciding with his Mediterranean themed summer pop up – Boulud Sud.

Bar Boulud has the best burgers ever! It is really a must try while in London! The meat is delicious and the dressings as well. The fries are crunchy and delicious! However, the bun can be better.

Bar Boulud, the sister entity of Bar Boulud New York by Michelin starred chef Daniel Boulud is located in the beautiful Mandarin Oriental in London. Boasting great decor and a fun upbeat ambience on a weekend night, this was the perfect place for a Friday night out. It was quite packed when we walked in, but since we had reserved in advance we were immediately led to our table.

We started the night off with some champagne, and moved to the food. For the starter we opted for the pork sausage with mash. A big portion and a very flavorful dish - It was a great beginning to the meal. Moving to the mains - The burgers were highly recommended and that is exactly what I chose to order, while my friend opted for the mussels. The burger was juicy and absolutely delectable, with great thick cut fries on the side. The mussels were very flavorful, cooked in white wine. We ended the night on a high note with the special dessert of the day - Chocolate mousse cake with a crunchy base. The presentation was as great as the food tasted.

The pricing was decent for the ambience and quality of food offered. The service is very friendly and highly efficient, with our server helping recommend dishes when we couldn't make our mind. Cannot wait to go back and try their recently launched Sunday brunch!

I had a truly wonderful experience here. This is the place where a man (or woman) should attend with one thing in mind - a burger. Don't bring a date, dates talk too much. The involvement of the mouth meeting the burger means that any conversation will merely get in the way of the enjoyment.

I was here for a belated birthday treat because it has one of the best value three course set dinners on offer in London, however seeing as this was suppose to be a birthday treat for the Panda I went a little “gourmet” and opted for the Piggie Burger instead, yes that’s considered gourmet for me! Bar Boulud is located in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Knightsbridge, opened by the famed Frenchman on the other side of the pond, Daniel Boulud. It is the only non-North American outpost of Daniel Boulud who owns a 2 star Michelin restaurant in New York.

Another meal at Bar Boulud (my last blog can be found here). This time I had the incredible BB burger. We also tried the fish soup, which was very rich and warming. I’m told the scallops were good. Great service at a great price point.

I tried their Crab Starter and it had everything going for it - taste, texture presentation. Very good overall.

For the mains I ordered the sirloin steak - juicy, grilled to perfection and accompanied by green peppercorn sauce.

Overall - feels great to have this level of service and great food alongside it.

Now considered a mainstay of the Knightsbridge dining scene, Bar Boulud London at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park celebrated five years at the hotel last week by closing the restaurant to the public and putting on an anniversary dinner hosted by Chef Daniel Boulud for “special customers and guests, and a few select media.” What a pleasure it was to be included among the select few invited to attend.

Chef Daniel Boulud proved a gracious host – and a hilarious one too! If you ever get the chance to ask him for picnic advice, do. You won’t be disappointed with his practical tips presumably learned from experience dining in the field with a resident bull showing up as a unexpected guest.

His six-course tasting menu accompanied with wines served by the glass from a selection of three large format wine bottles was equally a delight to experience:

• Vichyssoise (chilled potato and leek soup with UK smoked sturgeon and caviar;

• Saint-Jacques (scallops, puff pastry, ceps, and parsley butter);

• Flétan (halibut, potted shrimp crust and wild asparagus);

• Selle D’agneau en Rognonnade (stuffed lamb saddle with peas a la Francaise and new potatoes);

• Fromage (Montgomery’s Cheddar and Saint-Marcellin);

• Omelette Norvegienne (Baked Alaska with raspberry, pistachio, and vanilla);

• Petits Fours.

I loved every bite, especially the halibut and the Baked Alaska, which running from the bar nearly to the entrance was without doubt this biggest Baked Alaska I’d very laid eyes on.Wines (Chablis Premier Cru Vaillons; Domaine Montcalme; and Le Soula Rouge) paired well with the dishes and, poured at the table from Jereboam bottles, added a touch of theatre to the service.

Also in town for the occasion was celebrated Parisian charcutier, Gilles Verot, whose amazing pre-dinner spread of charcuterie made it hard to save room for the actual meal – much (if not all) of which is available regularly at Bar Boulud and worth a visit there alone.

Bar Boulud London is located at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, 66 Knightsbridge, SW1X 7LA. Find out more at barboulud.com.

Bar Boulud restaurant of the world famous celebrity chef Daniel Boulud is located at the 5 star Mandarin Oriental hotel on Knightsbridge. The whole atmosphere of this restaurant is very cool and casual, in the day it's not very formal and is a good place for a beer and burger and by the night this bar becomes a very classy and somewhat formal dinner place.

I went for lunch with my brother and friends, we all ordered pretty much the same things,(burgers) I had the BB burger which consisted of beef Patty foie gras, pork ribs meat and sesame bun. The burger was very juicy and tasted very good, though I did not like the pork meat in the burger the burger itself was very good. For dessert I had the dark chocolate sphere, honestly it looked very cool and interesting but the taste is not very good, the dessert looks very appetizing as the waiter pours heated Mandarin sauce on the chocolate sphere and the way it just breaks.

My experience at Bar Boulud was very good I am looking forward to my next trip here.

I took the day off from work, dressed in my best Veronica avatar, and made my way to brand new Bar Boulud – Michelin star chef Daniel Boulud’s first London restaurant at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park. Best decision of the year.

Bar Boulud is a sexy restaurant. The manager led me to their charcuterie bar designed along an open kitchen. I backed the restaurant and faced a team of 10 very good looking chefs. I think I had London’s most charming waiter at my service who helped me choose my meal today: I started with the Dégustation de Charcuterie (£14) featuring their signature Pâté Grand Mère of chicken, pork and cognac, and a glass of Hochterrassen Grüner 2008 (£6.50); next was their Piggie Burger (£13.50) with a yummy Achaval Ferrer Malbec 2008 (£10.50); and to end a Gâteau Basque (£6). You know you’ve done Veronica proud if the chef comes over to talk to you. The Executive Chef Dean Yasharian came over and talked to me. It was a perfect meal – the Universe was conspiring to distract me from the most awful week.

French Chef Daniel Boulud – say it with me, dan-yell boo-loo – decided to give his name to another restaurant and opened Bar Boulud in London’s Mandarin Oriental Hotel in 2010.

Reviews ranted and raved about his dishes, but I never got around to trying it.
In fact, the first time I ever tasted one of Boulud’s dishes was two years later at Taste of London 2012.
You may recall me raving about a certain perfect hot dog here.
Well, this bad boy belonged to Mr. Boulud himself.

A year later, I was surprised with sunflowers and taken to Bar Boulud for a celebration over a perfect hot dog. The restaurant was completely booked and buzzing with men sipping whisky in designer suits and elegant women dining dressed to the nines.

We quickly decided that this was going to be a filthy celebration of maximum caloric intake. A mandatory order of the Tunisienne Hot Dog was made. A spicy lamb merguez served on a brioche bun with mint yoghurt and pepper stew.
The Tunisienne had great flavour from the mint yoghurt with a little bit of kick from the pepper stew, but was missing that snap that completes the perfect hot dog.

A little bit let down, we moved on to bigger and better things.

Burgers.
From a selection of New York Grilled Beef Burgers we ordered the Piggie and the “BB”, as well as a mountain of frites.

The award winning Pigge is a beef patty topped with bbq pulled pork, green chili, mayonnaise, bibb lettuce, red cabbage slaw and melted cheddar on a bun.
I must start by saying this little Piggie made me go wee wee wee all the way home. I couldn’t stop talking about the perfection of this burger and wish we had stopped our order here.
The texture from the cheddar melted on top of the top of the bun is what I would like to call the cherry on top. Beneath this cheesy bun lay perfect pulled pork, crunchy red cabbage slaw, crisp bibb lettuce, spicy chilli mayo and a smoky, succulent beef patty cooked to perfection.
This little piggie didn’t stand a chance.

Then we came to the BB.
A luxurious, if not gluttonous, combination of beef patty, foie gras, red wine braised short ribs, truffle frisée, horseradish mayonnaise and confit tomato on a black onion seed bun.
Although the generous serving of foie was creamy and added a nice, rich texture to the burger, there’s nothing else about this burger I enjoyed.
The beef patty was overcooked, truffle was overpowering of both the horseradish mayonnaise and confit tomato and the braised short ribs seemed unnecessary.
Each ingredient should enhance and complement the dish, yet this burger felt more like what can we throw on here to make it more extravagant.
I was incredibly disappointed and wished that this little piggie had ended on the Piggie.
Our lovely waiter took the burger off our bill which left me slightly less bitter before ordering dessert.

Ah dessert.
Recovering from the bitter end of our meal, we over ordered on dessert.
First, the theatrical Coupe Peppermint suggested by the waiter.
Flourless sponge with hot chocolate sauce and mint-chocolate ice cream.
The chocolate disc on top was melted by a hot chocolate sauce poured over the top. This caved into the mint-chocolate ice cream below which had the flavour of fresh mint, rather then that fake, spearminty flavour.
As a result of the hot chocolate, it all became a sort of soupy, minty mush. And the described flourless sponge was apparently one bite-full hiding at the bottom which I wasn’t quick enough to taste.
Overall, although the presentation was exciting, the flavours and textures were not.

Next to try was an assortment of macarons.
Now I must warn you, the macaron happens to be my favourite sweet treat and over the years I have become a bit of a macaron master through extensive taste testing research. This frequently results in over-analysation of these finicky confections and I’m often left disappointed.
Hesitantly, we ordered the assortment of macarons: chocolate lime, hazelnut and passionfruit.
Have you ever smelled a citronella scented mosquito candle?
If so, you’ll know exactly what this chocolate lime macaron tasted of. I can safely say both mosquitos and I will be staying far away from it.
The hazelnut macaron didn’t have the perfect texture, but had a nice, if not muted, flavour of hazelnut.
To save the day/plate, the passionfruit macaron had good texture and a lovely, strong passionfruit flavour.
Overall, I’d give a 1 1/2 out of 3.

To finish on a sweet note, the Birmane.
Fresh mango julienne, saffron crumble, mango orange mousse and a blood orange sorbet.
The presentation was simple but beautiful in a small glass. The mousse was creamy and sweet and contrasted perfectly with the cold, sour sorbet. I only found one piece of saffron biscuit, but enjoyed the snap of saffron. The pieces of juicy blood orange and strips of mango added a great texture and overall I really loved the dessert.

The food at Bar Boulud was good and I’m assuming that a one off mistake was made. The service was great with knowledgable, friendly staff that were attentive and happy to rectify the burger mishap.

You can book a romantic date or caloric massacre here and I’d thoroughly recommend making a reservation as this place fills up quickly.

Without a doubt one of best mid-range / high end dining establishments in this neck of the woods.

As Daniel’s reputation had understandably preceded him, I was particularly excited to be dining at Bar Boulud, which takes up a large swathe of floor space at the grand Mandarin Oriental hotel, directly beside Hyde Park. Throughout his illustrious career, this auteur has amassed a long list of awards, and I had yet to speak to anybody in London who has reported anything less than a brilliant experience from dining at Bar Boulud.

You know you’re in good hands when it’s almost impossible to choose from a menu that reads so well it frustrates you to have to omit certain dishes. After much deliberating I chose to commence with the Duo De Crabe, while Canada plumped for Tiger Prawns. The charming and knowledgeable sommelier recommended a peculiarly interesting wine from an Oregon vintner that is a blend of nine varietals. On the surface this seemed a ridiculous prospect but after a quick swirl and sniff, I was taken in. One sip later and that was decided. It was an excellent complement to the varied flavours presented in the crab dish.

It's the flexibility of Bar Boulud that makes it great for me, perfect for a quick drink (or three) at the gorgeous marble topped bar, with lovely starter sized bar food (the lobster roll is green and perhaps not that great, but the tuna tartare is spoon sized and delicious, as are the trio of sliders) ; perfect for very boozy after dinner cocktails in the lounge, perfect for a sit down meal of BURGERS (love the Piggie and the very French fries) and a proper bistro feast with perfectly grilled sole, and steak, followed by two desserts each - highly recommend the raspberry souffle with pistachio gelato, heaven! It's French casual, bistro, does what it says on the can - food is high quality and spot on, cocktails are pricey and delicious, the beer menu is varied , the desserts are suprisingly good, and the service, is neither French nor British - ie, very friendly, accomodative and efficient. It's not cheap, but worth every penny. Do try to reserve a table if you're more than 2 people though. Perfect for client drinks.

Located in the basement of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Knightsbridge is Daniel Boulud's London outpost Bar Boulud. I had lunch there just after it opened, I enjoyed it on that visit and certainly thought about returning to try more from the Bistro inspired menu. It's amazing to think that was over 18 months ago and I am only now returning, this time as part of a larger group.

This visit was for lunch on a Saturday and we experienced a much less frantic environment than I remember. The ambience was actually very relaxing.

I choose from the excellent value fixed price lunch menu - seriously good value at £23 for 3 courses. I started with a lovely creamy and tasty pumpkin soup, followed by a very tender lamb shoulder dish served with baby carrots, eggplant, almonds and apricots and finished with a quite stunning chestnut sable & mousse covered in a lovely shiny chocolate glaze served with some light and refreshing pear sorbet.

My companions were visiting Bar Boulud for the first time and quite rightly ordered the burgers. The Yankee and the Frenchie being the most popular choice. The best burgers in London was the general consensus there - great fries too.

I tried very hard to resist the allure of the Mandarin Bar without success. My intentions for having a reasonably priced lunch were dashed by the pricey but delicious cocktails.

I am sure I will return to Bar Boulud again in the not too distant future. It's such a good refuge from the hustle and bustle of Knightsbridge.

A chic cap in London? This was wanted to make the Lyon made-in-NY Daniel Boulud. In this context, while the length located in the basement at the Mandarin Oriental, a stylish service is activated with rigor. Popular dishes, pretty Gilles Verot signed meats and fish to date here like no way. Stewed beef cheek with onion and pistachios pie quail with Foie Gras, white sausage and potatoes Lyonnaise, Coq Au Vin, lamb with rosemary, rhubarb compote and vanilla panna cotta with wonders.

Typical French gastronomy between Hyde Park, and Knightbridge Tube stations.
Just in front of Hyde Park, the menu offers you some of the most common and gourmet dishes of the French cuisine.
From being French I really appreciate the place and it reminds me my childhood but the prices are definitely to expensive : It's truly a restaurant for great or special occasions.
After your diner you can have a cocktail at the bar of the Mandarin Oriental which is one of the most beautiful and classy Hotel in Town.

As pointed out by many other people who have reviewed the ambience and the service is first class. Probably over attentive for my liking but the heart behind the place is to have a good experience. When it comes to the burger I wouldn’t say it’s the best burger in London. I’m very sure they pride themselves in being the best but I would disagree. Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t a bad burger but I expected more, it felt like it was missing something. Fries though were very very strong and they weren’t stingy with the portions. They got the balance spot on with the amount of salt and it wasn’t greasy. Top marks!! Overall great experience however I believe there are other spots that produce a better burger

This place reopened in December after a long refurbishment. Beautiful decor and perfect lighting adds to the ambience. Their signature cocktails are a must. A good selection of casual French food (also a section of burger and fries) that are rich and tasty. Look at that shine on the sauce of my fish dish, it’s a flavour bomb. We had a very lovely meal.

Service was incredibly attentive and perhaps better than the NYC location in it's formalness. The pate en croute was very well made however it's only half a slice which is a bit of an odd presentation. Burger grind is very nice on the classic burger and the morbier cheese gives it a unique flavor combination. I ordered it medium rare and it came medium well. Both the waiter and chef were quick to admit it was overdone and brought a proper replacement perfectly medium rare very fast. Very cozy atmosphere that made you feel at home with a low noise making it easy for conversation.

Upscale place, implied dress code. Price: expensive. Dined here on several occasions. BB burger (Foie Gras) is a good choice and is definitely tasty but for 24 GBP it might not be worth it. Service: excellent. Limited scotch selection but are double pour potions, thus reasonably priced (Lagavulin 16 for 12.5 GBP), served in a chilled glass is a nice touch! Soufflé; delicious but would not order again, on the blander side.

The restaurant is down a flight of stairs after you walk into the hotel lobby and towards the other restaurant, Dinner. There is an open kitchen and service is exemplary (including macarons and madeleines while we waited for a delayed souffle) despite the slightly casual vibe of the restaurant. We had a very good value set dinner during London Restaurant Festival. They do classic French dishes here. Bread and butter were excellent (warm and soft respectively). Terrine starter was OK and the accompanying mustard and cornichons were more memorable. Roasted plaice with cauliflower and brown shrimp was well made but with a lot of oil. Chocolate framboise was the best-looking dessert. Baba au rhum was delicious if a little too strong with the rum (which could be a good thing). Peanut parfait was my favourite and the souffle was a little disappointing due to the flavour (blackberry) though the texture was perfect.

Food was very pleasant, had the mushroom fricassee starter and the Pork Belly off the set menu and again this was done very nicely. I would say the food is reasonably priced given the setting and superb service (obligatory London 12.5% automatically added to the bill) but the booze is very pricey and bizarrely we were asked if we’d like water for the table which I suppose naively we presumed was tap water as it comes in carafes but when the bill came, 6 bottle of water was £24! That is a bit unreasonable and wasn’t clearly communicated by the service staff in my opinion. Overall I’d say probably worth a visit for a special occasion but if all your interested in is equally delicious food at a cheaper price alternative options are available.

Lovely restaurant that made us feel very welcome even though all my partner and I wanted was desert. The restaurant we went to beforehand had dire choices and this being a french restaurant I knew it should be good. It did not dissapoint. My rhum baba was lovely and my partner's Peper mint cup was a chocolaty dream. I came here years ago for the burger and it was good. This has not seemed to have changed. Will come back when I have a burger craving in the area.
