Amazing water. This Italian restaurant near Lambeth Bridge looks a little serious for the average diner walking in off the street, but the welcome is warm and gracious. Throughout my meal, in fact, the service was flawless -- effortlessly elegant. courteous, and prompt. Regarding the food: it sounds like a back-handed compliment, but the sparkling bottled water carried the meal. It was astonishingly good. So was the olive oil, which they serve with fresh bread - deep flavors, a hint of truffle. The maitre d' informed me that they get the water from a small private distributor in Italy. The olive oil, I think he said, was from the Lazio region. I ordered a risotto; he suggested a salad (not on the menu) to accompany it, since the risotto took 25 minutes to make. Hm, maybe I should've read between the lines. The salad was a perfect combination of fresh tart greens, lightly dressed. Clearly their purveyors are first rate. However, the risotto, which made its appearance earlier than expected - something that seldom bodes well - was bland and disappointing. Five slivers of overcooked asparagus in the spring does not a spring risotto make. Great on color, though - the chef doesn't skimp on the saffron. I decided to stop my meal there, since (with a glass of wine) I was already in for 30 pounds. All in all I like this restaurant (especially the water! . . . and the waiters) but feel I paid a bit too much for it. Were I to return, I'd ask the maitre' d for recommendations, and I'd be sure go when I was feeling very hungry and flush, and willing to order several dishes.

Osteria dell' Angolo, a smart Italian restaurant located in Westminster, offers regional cuisine in a classic manor with a modern twist.
Visited the Osteria Dell'Angolo for the third time, after its holiday closure and menu change. First couple of visits led us to believe we might have found an exceptional restaurant, especially the meal on our second visit. Not the case however as this visit showed. We had a rather boring amuse-bouche and a couple of quite bland dishes, based on this it does look like the Osteria has lost its wow factor.
