I recently had to explain the concept of Afternoon Tea to my Mum (who lives in Germany). The only thing that came to mind was that you drink tea and eat sweets from a multilayered cake stand. She was not convinced. To be honest it’s so much more. It’s the atmosphere of going into a really nice and hopefully comfortable space and then you chat and nibble on some amazing pastries, while feeling a little bit like you are in the middle of a Jane Austen novel. I’m not sure if this is the case for most of you, but it’s always nice to sit down, have tea and have a natter. This time around I choose a more modern venue: Refuel at Soho Hotel. As you can see in the pictures, it is colourful and fun. They also had some interesting art scattered through the building.

Refuel didn’t feel like it was in a hotel at all as its personality was so separate from the hotel. I would definitely recommend for a special occasion, or even just pop in for a cocktail if you happen to be in Soho.

If you're after a buzzy atmosphere then this is your place !! Took a client here last night and have been here a few times before.
The Soho Hotel is hidden just off Dean St in the midst of the bustle of Soho. The hotel is very designer and chic and frequented by media folk.
The restaurant is neat, with a very lively bar along side, not great if you want a romantic chat ! The ambience is dark and cozy. Menu is top end of very good, nothing spectacular but nice range and consistently good. It was full of Christmas parties last night which made for a lovely atmosphere.
Had salmon starter (I really need to be more adventurous !) and Turkey main with all the trimmings, bootiful !! Then Xmas pud to follow. Had very fine bottle of Fleurie and Tokaji to finish.
A good place to go with a bunch of friends, has nice round tables too.

Refuel is very famous for its food and drinks. The restaurant and adjacent bar is always lively on Friday night. The day we visited was Friday as well and in spite of being busy service was very friendly and relaxed. the food was of good quality. We waited a very long time between starter and main course. There must have been an issue as it seemed very little came out of the kitchen for a while. We were offered free cocktails as compensation. and the cocktails were fantastic. All in all I would recommend for a place to go for a night out as it has great atmosphere and food was good too... though a little slow service.

Located inside the Soho Hotel, this beautiful restaurant/bar serves amazing cocktails. It's also a great place to hangout with friendly bartenders. Had the best old fashioned here that I've ever tasted. Will be back to try their other cocktails in the future.

Very attentive and informative staff. Great variety of drinks, I didn’t see many non alcoholic ones but you can ask for any drink and staff will try their best to do it. The only annoying thing was pouring camomile tea to my cup, as it has loose tea leaves it blocks the pot of tea sometimes and loads of tea spills over. Maybe investing in having a strainer inside the teapot would work better. Aside of my struggle with the camomile tea and massive spillage, every other drinks were amazing and some very unique. As a regular customer, Refuel certainly only gets better and better. We never really stayed for food, but I hope they have some vegan options!

This is a lovely restaurant for special events. I dined here with my sister after a private movie screening in The Soho Hotel, to celebrate both of our birthdays. AMBIANCE & SERVICE ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 Dimly lit - we dined past 9pm - which creates a really chill vibe. The staff were super welcoming and friendly, and helped out a ton with choices and perks to celebrate. FOOD ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 I ordered the lamb mains, and apple and berry pie for dessert. I was given both custard to drizzle, and a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream as well. DRINKS ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 Ordered the Damn-quiri, which had pomegranate in it. Sour and just perfect; not at all what you’d expect. Blended so well, you couldn’t taste the alcohol. Kudos to the bar staff.

Great ambience Good food We originally had the set menu in mind when we booked our reservation but it was explained that from Wednesday to Friday the set menu stops at 7pm. There’s still the option of enjoying the choices from the bar menu but I opted for the Chicken curry and cheesecake for dessert. For drinks I had a lemonade as wasn’t having alcohol though there was a great drinks menu including the house cocktail selection (or your favourite if not listed). Great helpful staff and when we explained it was a joint birthday celebration they gave us some delicious cake with fruits.

Just to say that while the food was good, the place was quiet, but Jo the server was just outstanding on service. If I could give her six stars, I would. She made a rainy night in Soho a warm evening for my wife and me.

This is a really nice hidden gem! Went for dinner on a Friday. Friendly and prompt service, tasty food, and good options. Nice atmosphere as well. The appetizers were underwhelming, I would say, but the main was incredible.

They do such a good Sunday roast deal - 3 courses for £30! One of the best roasts I’ve ever had, the service was excellent and the interiors really interesting. Loved our cocktails too.

A hotel bar/ restaurant inside Soho Hotel. The main utility for me is you can have tea and coffee after 7pm there (as opposed to beer and other alcoholic drinks). It is a struggle to find anywhere to go in London (and UK in general) if you don’t drink. This one is a nice refuge in that sense. The selection of desserts seem a little bit odd. I had rhubarb and custard millefeuille and it was ok.

Went here for Valentine’s Day with my fiancée. The food and service was amazing. They really look after us and made sure that we’d have the best experience. Compliments to the chef and all kitchen staff. The only thing I don’t like about the place is when the car headlight goes through the restaurant. It was a bit disturbing whenever there a car going to the hotel. But overall it’s good ;)

Nice casual afternoon tea. Not as over the top as many other 5 star hotels in London. Very nice “soho experience”, great to bring guests in London.

Arrived for a 5 party booking and we were welcomed and seated immediately. Ellie was our assigned waitress for the evening. She was both polite and attentive. She made good recommendations enabling us to make fully informed choices. The food came in good time with everyone in our party being served simultaneously. Ellie also ensured we were all ok for drinks and that all was to our satisfaction. She gave the sense that nothing was too much trouble. The only slight issue we had, if one’s to be at all mentioned was the music being a little loud for concentrating on meaningful conversation. Other than that, a lovely time had. Would definitely recommend a visit and meal … Oh… and ask for Ellie… she’s a credit to the establishment.

The Refuel Bar & Restaurant is a delightful place to have a drink or meal with friends, before a show or cocktail before moving on elsewhere. We were looking for a place away from the Soho crowds and having called them within five minutes we had a table for 6. The cocktails were lovely, well presented and very tasty. The staff were respectful and excellent in service. The design of the bar and surrounding area is elegantly thought out and the imagery behind the bar is awesome. Highly recommended – a little hidden gem in Soho, close to bars, China Town and theatres.

Loved this experience, tucked inside soho hotel, passed the really big black cat. if you've had a long day walking about and shopping, then the seats alone are worth give stars. by far and away the comfiest seating I had in any restaurant for a while! the food wasn't bad either! fresh ingredients, sensitively treated, I had the crab pasta that slowly built in heat as I ate it. nicely seasoned and cooked to perfection. it's also great to see how well the staff interact with the kids- kind, attentive and welcoming. so much so that I'd actually like to stay in the hotel! great visit, we'll worth a try!

Amazing! Loved it! The drinks were really good and we thoroughly enjoyed the crab toast. The entrees were beautifully plated and very good, though they did need a bit of salt. Overall would def recommend.
