Min Jiang, self declared London’s most authentic Chinese restaurant (note how the duck was brought out by a white man so not so sure what authentic means), is certainly one to visit. It has a great combination of high quality food, impressive view over London (perhaps not as impressive as the Shard but from this side of the city it’s as much as you can get), and good service.

Min Jiang is one of those Chinese restaurants I’d take friends to impress (particularly those from Asia). Because in my opinion, it serves the best duck in town. I’d even go as far as saying theirs is better than the usual London favourites Gold Mine and Four Seasons (the latter having been rather disappointing over the years in terms of food and service).

Dining with Kensington Palace as a backdrop...well that doesn't happen everyday. As if being located right in the heart of West London wasn't prestigious enough, Min Jiang also get to call the 10th floor of the Royal Garden Hotel home. It makes for a pretty spectacular experience which is great; if only the food would follow suit.

Coming to celebrate Chinese New Year, our party opted for the festive set menu of pretty traditional dishes including the additional duck course.

The set menu itself was fine but nothing mind-blowing with dishes such as a crabmeat and egg white golden cup and a scallop XO dumpling proving to be the highlights.

However, the wood-fired Beijing duck is something quite awesome. Skin awesomely crispy and fragrant uncovering meaty so juicy, it's one of the better Beijing ducks I've had in London and is worth coming back just for it. It didn't come cheap though and with places like Goldmine produce a product of similar quality at a fraction of the cost, Min Jiang proves to be a hard sell. But I suppose you don't dine in the company of royalty without paying a bit for it...

The Royal Garden Hotel is a glamorous place on the edge of Kensington Gardens.  I’ve been there for drinks but never made my way to the tenth-floor Chinese restaurant, Min Jiang, which has been open now for eight years.  There is something quite exciting about taking the elevator up – and something even more exciting and luxurious about sitting looking out of the picture windows at views which stretch to the Shard and the London Eye.  I was fascinated.  Most of the ‘restaurants with a view’ I know are in or around the City.  Here, looking across Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park, the view is quite different and considerably less cluttered.  On a clear evening you really can see for miles.  I could have sat there for hours.

Dim sum with a serious view. From West to East you can see it all. Once you've stopped pointing at buildings, you'll realise the quietness, the simplistic decor, the traditional yet classy atmosphere Min Jiang exudes.

Dim sum, it's my favourite meal of all time, since I was a little girl it would be a Saturday ritual in the Yohan Centre (sadly it shut down), I take Dim Sum extremely seriously. So when I say Min Jiang knows how to create a clean and delicious dim sum, I'm not kidding around.

I test the Prawn Cheung Fun as it's one of my favourite dishes, if that goes well, I'm confident to proceed to the next dish. And that went well. Very, very, well. We forgot to order the crispy noodles but the other table proved it to be an absolute treat.

Seriously, if you like great views, great service, and delightful dim sum, Min Jiang is the place for you.

I always say I never win anything, but this week I was lucky enough to bag myself a dinner for two at Min Jiang restaurant in the Garden Palace Hotel in Kensington. Min Jiang is quite a posh affair serving up fragrant dishes from China. According to their website, they are the only ones in London serving up authentic Chinese fare.

Min Jiang’s Legendary wood-fired Beijing Duck is indeed worthy of high praise. The meat was tender and juicy with a good amount of fat and crispy, lacquered skin.

Really nice restaurant with an amazing view of Hyde Park. The food is really probably one of the best in London (Chinese food that is). Interior is very nice. It looks expensive (and it is expensive)

Min Jiang restaurant that launched in 2008 to excellent reviews and was awarded three AA Rosettes in 2009. Though the main star of the show here is usually the duck, Min Jiang is renowned for its range of dim sum and spicy Sichuan dishes. On our visit we were lucky enough to sample the dum sum platter. It always makes a nice change when you know the dumplings have been both hand made and wrapped.

A very authentic place if you are a great fan of Peking style roast duck. Apart from wrapping the sliced crispy skins they also provide options to make the rest of the duck into a fried rice or a duck soup just like what we do in China. This place is highly famous for duck among the Chinese, but remember to book your duck in advance!

Min Jiang is one of my favourite Chinese restaurants in London and I have been there many times and you can see pictures of many of the dishes I have had on various occasions here.   Min Jiang is locates just by Hyde Park on High Street Kensington in the Royal Garden hotel, and as the restaurant is located on the 10 th floor it offers you an amazing view of Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park and London if you go there during the day. At night the restaurant sort of changes and the atmosphere is very different, as at night you can’t see anything outside and it becomes a more romantic dinner place. The design of the place is beautiful with red walls, white tablecloths, black chairs.   The highlight of any meal at Min Jiang has to be the duck, and they even call it “legendary wood-fired Beijing duck”, which apparently is “ Prepared meticulously by Chefs from Beij

If you’re a lover of aromatic duck served with pancakes, you need to try the real thing. In truth, Beijing duck is a world away from the deep fried, (probably frozen) aromatic duck that we’re used to...

I have been truly spoiled for this years birthday celebrations, the finale was with my closest friends at Min Jiang . Boasting views from the 10 th floor overlooking Kensington gardens. The lofty restaurant aims to please, booking a table of 8 we waited patiently by the bar. The signature legendary Beijing duck was a must for me, constantly taunted by my foodie friends. The duck needs to be ordered 45 minutes in advanced. For starters we had a selection of dim sum, xiao long bao, and cheung fun.   The dim sums were a dream. The assorted dim sum, came with a mix selection, they were enveloped in silky soft skin, inside bursting with fresh ingredients that you can actually taste.

One of my closest friends has been in London this past year and she very kindly took me for lunch at Min Jiang on my birthday a couple weeks back. With its location on the 10th floor of the Royal Garden Hotel (a hotel whose interior is certainly much nicer than its blocky grey exterior), its views over Kensington Gardens were brilliant; if only the weather that day matched it. I’d never felt so much like a tai tai (think lady who lunches) that afternoon (leaving work for a long lunch at a swanky restaurant will do that). And as you’d expect in a restaurant like Min Jiang, service was impeccable throughout our lunch. For our meal, we chose a selection of dim sum and some noodles for the whole birthday thing (their length represents longevity) – their famous Beijing duck would have to wait for another visit. Our first dish, their signature xiao long bao, was excellent. Thin skins gave way to lots of meaty broth and a lovely pork filling; we think they’d coated the base of the steamer wit

I wasn't sure what to expect when finding this restaurant on the Internet. But I would have to say it has the best view. The staff were amazing. The minute you stepped in the restaurant they were there to pull your seat out. Besides the excellent view the food was great.

I thought I would take my partner for her birthday. Ambience is nice with a window seat. Staff are attentive but not to bothersome.

Food: I had the Jasmine spare ribs which were yum. The rib eye dish which was also good and a two person portion.

The starter scallop was tasteless but the mainstream was nice.

Defoe for a spot for an occasion...well I think so.

The dim sums were a dream. The assorted dim sum, came with a mix selection, they were enveloped in silky soft skin, inside bursting with fresh ingredients that you can actually taste. Now, even I have to admit this beats my current favourite Princess Garden of Mayfair dim sum.

Finally, the legendary Beijing duck popped up from nowhere, the guy expertly craved away the duck, each piece expertly sliced to the same thickness. The Beijing duck comes in two servings.

Min Jiang, makes their own pancakes, and eating the duck with the two different sauces made the experience pleasurable. The lip smacking duck itself was on the slightly greasy side, however it was moist and juicy, the skin wasn’t overcooked or crispy.

Nestled up high in the rather faded looking Royal Garden hotel is Min Jiang. A proper old-fashioned yet luxurious Chinese restaurant that boasts stunning views over Hyde Park. Layers of lush greenery with the magnificent London skyline behind, that for once lets the natural landscape take centre stage. This is no Hutong, although what we ate was just as great, the restaurant is quite dated and more informal with a family atmosphere, although several manly business dinners were going on around us. I’m meant to set the scene and describe the feel and decor of the restaurant, but I can’t wait to talk about the food. It was simply fantastic, some of the best Chinese food we’ve ever had. And no this isn’t a blogger gushing over a comped meal, this is fact...

Great restaurant. One of the best Chinese restaurants in London. The dim sum is great (very fresh and good quality ingredients) and the views you have of Hyde Park are matched. The food is quite pricey but I think worth it. Cheaper options include Royal China and other Queensway joints. Also, with Ming J go for lunch!

Simply put, the best Peking duck you will find on this side of the Great Wall. This restaurant is nested on top of a posh hotel in Kensington high street, with a beautiful view over the Kensington Garden. The ambiance is high-class hotel restaurant with an oriental touch, very stylish yet simple.

Star of the meal is the wood-fire roasted Peking duck, better ordered in advance as it takes 45 minutes to cooked, on top of an overnight lacquering process. The duck is served in three different dishes and brought whole straight to you table. The chef will first shave the crispy skin served with sugar as a starter, before carving the meat that will be served with thin pancakes to be rolled with cucumber and plum sauce. As a final dish, you can choose to be served the remaining meat either in a soup, or with fried rice or noodles. We tried the noodles and didn't regret.

I a not sure about the rest of menu as we were not much hungry and ordered just the duck, but our neighbours' plates looked very tasty and probably worth a try! The only downside was probably the slightly pushy waitress, but nothing really too annoying.

Best Peking duck I’ve had in London so far! It’s a must order if you do visit! The chef will be carving the roast duck in front of you and pancakes that were served with it is freshly made with a nice selection of sauces. Also you get to choose how you would like the remaining duck meat to be made. We went for the fried rice and that was pretty good too. The dim sums were very tasty too. Excellent service and can dine with an amazing view. Highly recommended.

Really enjoyed this place. Due to the covid restrictions, I have not been able to travel and have been missing China greatly. This place took me back there - from the food to the interiors - it all felt intentional and authentic. The view is mesmerising at night, especially in winter when the Winter Wonderland is on. Dim sum was superb and I truly enjoyed it. It was well balanced and light. We also ordered half duck - it is sliced in front of you and makes up three dishes: duck skin with sugar, duck fillet with translucent wheat pancakes and a third of your option - we went for a soup. Duck was a bit fatty for me but I know it is the traditional way. The pancakes worked really well with the fillets and the fillings. Soup was a lovely closure to the dinner - full flavour and hearty.

We went to Min Jiang specially for their Peking duck. I got to admit that their first course of duck skin and meat wrapped with their own wrap was lovely. It even came with their own homeMade min Jiang specialty sauce. I wasn’t too impressed by their second course of duck meat with iceberg lettuce. It felt as if the second course was more of an appetizer and in all my experience of having Peking duck, I raise questions about the size and width of their second course that really dropped my experience from a good to a borderline hmmm. I’ve attached photos for those around to judge as I had better San choy bao as a second course else where before. If the restaurant can better their second course, this place for Peking duck.. I would give a better rating. Further comments on my IG - HungryFatBarrel

This remain my most favourite Chinese restaurant in London. Not only because of the food and the view being on the top floor of the Royal Garden Hotel overlooking the Kensington Gardens and Kensington Palace. The service is always solid and good. Good selection and extensive list of wine menu. Their signature dish is Peking Duck. You should order it in advance to avoid disappointment. The restaurant is very popular, so do book a couple of months in advance if you want a table before 9pm. Food 9/10, service 9/10, ambience 9/10, value for money 9/10.

Chinese restaurant with superb views over Kensington Gardens. The charcoal roast duck is the best. It's their signature dish, and need to pre-order. The soft shell crab was just okay - good size portion, but a bit soggy! Other dishes were fine, but nothing special. Not cheap, but something different for a special occasion (a birthday in our case🙂).
