Large selection of chocolates and impressive looking hot drinks. Hot chocolate looked better than it tasted in my opinion. Their chocolates are quite nice with something for everyone.
Absolutely yummy dessert parlor . Always freshly made and served at reasonable prices and prompt and punctual service with the help of a very friendly and professional staff too.

Delicious hot chocolate if you like it on the sweet side as I do. As you get to the bottom of the cup it starts to get thicker and sweeter, which some would probably find too cloying but I didn’t really mind it too much. The place had charming interiors, and the drink itself was IG-worthy with pretty shards of chocolate shavings nestled on top. I made the mistake of picking up my drink before taking a quick photo and the shavings all fell, hence no pic. But the chocolate was rich, frothy, and sweet and I wouldn’t mind going back. I went to the smaller store on Brick Lane which turned out to be the right move as the bigger store (Cocoa House) had a queue.
This is easily of of the best chocolate joints in London and perhaps in the world.
Ghanaian cocoa, their hot chocolate is just plain brilliant. The chili chocolate and gin chocolate has some serious kick to it.
Has 2 outlets in Brick lane. Must visit.
Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate!!! Dark Sugars is heaven. I have never seen such fresh, raw, variety in one place. Dark Sugars is cosy corner chocolate store in the infamous Brick Lane! DS is super popular and always buzzing! We literally ate the whole bag of chocolates we bought before even getting back to the station! (Which is like right around the corner.)
TIP: Do try there Dark Chocolate covered dates and Gin & Tonic Truffles! Don’t get drunk on the chocolates - trust us it’s possible.
If you are a chocolate lover then this place is your chocolate heaven.
They have everything related to chocolate.
Very pure form of chocolates and very much different varieties of chocolate thingy.
My favourite is hot chocolate 😋
Very much recommended.
Ah the perfect hot chocolate for cold weather. Served with chocolate shavings on top. The hot chocolate is not too sweet and perfectly mixed. I would highly recommend it.
Heaven for chocolate lovers!!! Little bit expensive, but when you want something different not just a box of boring chocolates - this is a perfect choice!
The aromas that come out of this shop are enough to bring you in (not to mention all that delicious chocolate on display!). We tried a few samples that we really enjoyed. I would def. come back!
This store has defenitly one of the best chocolate flavour I ever tasted. The flavour is pretty intense and the texture is very soft. Each flavour is diferent and I can't decide which one is my favorite! It is a little expensive but it is worth it because of its quality. It's also placed in a good location. I hope to come back and taste new flavours!
Have been to both of the Dark Sugars stores including the new one in Broadway Market. Chocolates rival even Paul A Young's salted caramels whilst the hot chocolate can easily be classed as the best I've had anywhere in the world. Only downside is lack of space in North stores, which wasn't too bad anyway.
The best hot chocolate I've ever had. A generous portion of dark, white and milk chocolate went into our cup of the classic hot chocolate making it indulgent yet not overpowering or sweet. The place has a good vibe and the staff were super friendly. Definitely would go back and this time probably wouldn't share my hot chocolate with my wife.
Having seen the hot chocolate by Dark Sugars all over social media, I knew I had to try it.
Upon entering the store, I was bombarded by smells of pure chocolate and displays of chocolate all around me.
They had free samples to offer and I tried one that tasted of chilli, lime and milk chocolate. Normally, this is not a flavor I would choose but I decided to risk it and thank god I did. It was absolutely delicious. All the flavors were beautifully balanced as usually chocolates that contain chili can overpower your senses.
The displays of chocolate looked so inviting but I decided to just stick to the hot chocolate this time. You can add a range of spices to your hot chocolate but I decided to stick to the classic.
The special thing about this drink is that they put a handful of shaved chocolate, that's cut in front of you, on top of your drink.
The shaved chocolates (dark, milk and white) by themselves, were amazing. You could sense the high quality of the chocolate from the taste. The drink was very intense and quite bitter on its own, but paired with the shavings, it was the perfect balance of sweetness.
However, I do have to warn you that the serving size is very big and for me, after a while it just was too sweet and un drinkable.
So do try it but be ready for an intense sugar.
The staff there was also very friendly and singing along to the music blaring on the sound system. It made for a wonderful and comfortable atmosphere.
Funky chocolate and coffee heaven! I was drawn into this shop by the interesting display of big wooden boards of chocolates and truffles alongside a coffee bar. The chocolates are all amazing, some soya based too, and you can watch the chocolatiers work their magic in the shop window. The barista makes hot drinks topped with a mountain of shaved chocolate that is a pure dream. Definitely go in the area.
When we were wandering around Shoreditch for a Street Art Walk, a couple of members in the group, pointed out Dark Sugars and told me that I had to try them out.
I'd promised a friend I was visiting over the weekend, that I would pick up the rainbow bagels for her, so it was the perfect opportunity to try Dark Sugars Chocolates too.
There are large bowls of beautiful chocolate all around the store. Neatly labelled. You have the options to go fruity or alcoholic. I of course, chose the latter.
I asked the really sweet and helpful lady manning the store if it would be possible to try a bit of chocolate before I chose. She told me to look around and choose any flavour I fancied. I thought she would give me a bit of a scraping from the white and milk chocolate bars that she had on the counter, so this came as a complete surprise, but it was a foretaste of the generosity of spirit of Dark Sugars.
I tried the Tia Maria on her recommendation and was hooked.
Its an excellent quality chocolate shop without the fancy pretentiousness of other chocolatiers (who shall not be named). All sales are by weight and all chocolates cost the same. So no complex mental maths involved in the purchasing scenario.
It seems a little radical to pop assorted beautiful chocolates into a plastic baggy like a candy buffet, but its definitely cost effective. If you aren't buying chocolate for yourself and want to gift it, they have different sized gift boxes and each size has a fixed price. Where you are allowed to stuff in as much chocolate as can fit.
I made up a box for my friend and took it to the counter, the lady told me I could still fit in a few more chocolates and took me back to the bowls and asked which ones I wanted more of. She managed to fit in another 4-5. I mean, who does that? I'm blown away by how friendly and generous this shop is.
The pipette chocolate looked interesting and I asked her how it worked. Instead of just explaining to me theoretically about squeezing out the liquid in the pipette and throwing the plastic pipette away, she demonstrated one and gave it to me to taste.
I made up a few plastic baggies for me, the husband, the brother, the sister. I have a full house at home right now. and a gift box for my friend.
The chocolates were immediately devoured upon my arrival home and I'm waiting to head into shoreditch again so I can try the hot chocolate too and pick up more chocolate.
If you are visiting, I'd say : Definitely pick up one of the Pipette chocolates. They are amazing! The Irish kiss is obviously my favourite. Also, when I brought the chocolates home, they were voted the best of the lot.
A chocolat store. A brilliant chocolat store.
Here you can find all kinds of chocolat: hazelnut chocolat, white chocolat, caramel, crunch, etc.
The environment is so so cool! All employees are very nice and the playlist is contagious so everyone wants to join the party.
I am so amazed with this place. There are so many choices of dark choco, various to any taste you want. I also tried its cinammon hot choco, and it was super! Pieces of chocolate on the top of the drink is brilliant. One of the most memorable think ever.
Nice selection of chocolates. Very friendly staff.
I had a good cup of hot chocolate with cinnamon and it was topped with chocolate shavings.
Connoisseurs of dark chocolate! They specialise in various artisan blends that I have not seen anywhere else in town. I suggest a mix and match of their various variants. Best of the best. (Stem ginger/cinnamon orange and overdose are my picks )
Just popped in after walking by this quirky and cool chocolate shop. Love the unfinished look of the chocolates and the wide range of flavors is sure to appeal to any sweet tooth. I had the Chilli Chocolate and also a Cherry Chocolate cup, both were fantastic. The staff are fun and immediately offered us a taste of the chocolate. Great place to check out if you're in the neighborhood.

I love this place! Dark Sugars is a treasure trove of jewel-like chocolates-- pearly truffles, gleaming cherries, and blocks of chocolate stacked to the ceiling. It truly feels like stepping into Smaug's lair!
My boyfriend and I live dangerously close to this wonderful chocolate shop, and we have tried just about everything they have on offer (though they always seem to have at least one new treat to try!) My all time favourite is the coconut milk chocolate. It glistens like gold on the outside, every bite revealing the pearly perfection of solid coconut milk filling! They also do a dark chocolate version.
That being said, my guiltiest of pleasures is their spice-infused hot chocolates! They are made plain or with a spice of your choice-- cinnamon, cardamom, or mint ground fresh into the hot drink. To top it off, they scrape off a few large shavings of dark, milk, and white chocolate before sprinkling them atop the drink like a mountain of sugary goodness. With your first gulp, the heap of chocolate slips into the drink, melting away into the perfect finishing touch!
Definitely in the top 3 best hot chocolates in London.
They have a wide range of chocolate products which are super tasty, however they are most well known for their hot chocolate.
It is hot chocolate with a really good tasty, thin, not extremely thick and it has the sparkles of chocolate at the end that melt into the cup adding more taste.
Dark Sugars in Brick Lane is a chocolate lover's paradise! Their shop looks incredibly tempting. The classic hot chocolate with chocolate shavings was rich, but a tad too sweet for my liking. My bad for not asking beforehand. Still, it's definitely worth a visit. The friendly lady serving added to the enjoyable experience. 😊🍫
This was love at first sight! The amazing interior with its wood displays, everything was breathtaking. I can't describe what I saw & ate today!! It was very rich & just wawo. They serve top-notch chocolates & their smell all around, which takes you to another world. The taste of their chocolate, however, is average. It is way overrated & overpriced..
Hidden gems.
Wonderful little shop of all kinds of truffles and chocolate delicacies especially if you’re like me you prefer dark chocolate. Didn’t try the hot chocolate but I know it’s very popular. Took 1 star down because of price.
Staff wasn’t the nicest as well.
Got the salted caramel hot chocolate and thought it was alright. The molten chocolate at the bottom is the best! But I prefer the chin chin labs hot choc with marshmallow...
Definitely in the top 3 best hot chocolates in London.

Hot chocolate is indeed a really chocolatety drink, and it's great to see the availability of dairy free alternatives. The chocolate shavings melted quite quickly as shared by others, a pity but delicious nonetheless. I would in fact suggest getting the chocolates instead of the drink, as the chocolates are one of the best I've tested so far. Definitely going back to get more (and get some pics this time)!
Great hot chocolate that's made using real ingredients!
-They use shards of real chocolate that mix really well into hot milk (plant based options available) that taste amazing. They use a combination of different types of chocolate (white, dark and milk).
-They do quite a few flavours such as chilli, cardamom and premium flavours like hazelnut praline that cost a little more.
-Make sure to stir well as the chocolate can settle at the bottom, especially if you get the shards
Overall it was £11.25 for 2 hot chocolates but is worth it if you're looking for something good!
Portions generous, service excellent, staff was super nice and sweet. Loved the hot chocolate with chocolate shavings on top, melting instantly. Tried 3 different on 3 days, my favorit is "Pitch black". Took some pralines for my family at home and they helped me to get more into the box for the same price. Must-have location for chocolate lovers!
We went there specifically to try their hot chocolates, and it met our expectations, delicious with real chocolate on top. They also sell chocolate pieces, and we had the pleasure of trying free samples. They don't have tables to sit at, which would have been nice to enjoy it and rest for a while (we are tourists).
First I thought that prices are a bit high. £5.50 for 2 scoops. But their ice cream is in fact a gelato which just by itself makes it worth the price. Also their portions are huuuuge. And also it tastes like heaven.
And one more important detail that I’m sure of after our second visit the cheerful mood of the girl who serves you is infectious, she made my day twice 😃. We got free chocolate shavings onto our gelatos this time which was heartwarming ❤️❤️❤️
Really nice, but a small shop with delicious chocolate on display everywhere. When you enter the smell of the chocolate is really attractive, and it helps that they have display samples for you to try.
The highlight is trying one of the hot chocolates with chocolate shavings.
There are some theatrics with the shavings dumped in from the top which look cool but this melts pretty quickly and gets mixed in the drink.
My only issue is that the drink got sickly sweet too fast. The taste was good, but I expected it to be a bit more decadent which it wasn't. Overall it was a good experience but maybe I'll try without the shavings next time.
Today, I had the pleasure of trying a cup of 90% dark chocolate from Dark Sugars, without any added milk or cream. As a chocolate enthusiast, Imthis was one of the best dark chocolate beverages I've ever had.
I would highly recommend the hazelnut hot chocolate. The presentation of the hot chocolate is brilliant (sticks of dark, white and milk chocolate), which gradually melts with the heat of the hot chocolate.
When we arrived at the Brick lane branch we waited in a queue for 20 minutes. The hot chocolate was fantastic and I would queue again!
If you are a dark chocolate lover, then don't miss this place. I really love the chocolate, the ice cream and hot chocolate.
Best hot chocolate ever. Have loads of variety to try. Definitely add chocolate nibs to your drink, it's worth the price. The first 2/3rd is normal drink, then comes the melted chocolate nibs which are heaven. Do mix them thoroughly if you want a consistent chocolate flavour. Must try
Sooooo good been going here for years! Quality chocolates, first time trying the hot chocolate it was actually phenomenal and with oat milk too. If you are visiting East London treat yourself and come here.
Amazing hot chocolate, lots of different flavor options, great price for the high quality of the drink. The chocolate shaving on top are a massive amount, and they melt right in, so definitely a worthwhile topping.
I went to try the hot chocolate here after a recomedation on social media. Was not disappointed. I had the cinnamon version with what looked like a cup entirely filled with 5 flavours of solid chocolate. Loved it.
