"AFTERNOON TEA AT THE RITZ"

Visited this cafe on my recent visit to London. The place has an amazing tea room with cute decor and interiors.

Specially liked the vegan sandwich and desserts offered.

One of the magical place to have tea. The afternoon tea room here comes from a fairytale book. Love the selection of the tea and finger food there. Must try with your friends while in London.

Located in perhaps one of the most affluent areas in London, our evening here was definitely one to remember. This was the ultimate treat-yo-self day for me! You can’t go to London without having a high tea, and where else can you go high other than the one of the most iconic hotels in the world, the Ritz? The original hotel was opened in Paris, but the London branch is now over 110 years old, with a renowned reputation for prestige world wide.”Tea at the Ritz” is incredibly well-known, having had visitors such as Winston Churchill, King Edward VII and Queen Elizabeth frequenting the Palm Court over the last century. Keeping an eye out for high tea offers, we went for the Ritz as soon as we heard about their 15% off promotion for evening high tea – an unusual affair, but due to its immense popularity, the Ritz now has high teas from noon all the way until 7:30 pm before closing at 9pm.

I had a full vegan afternoon tea as I had informed The Ritz of my dietary requirements in advance. They had prepared vegan sandwiches for me which were delicious. I had a variety of deserts prepared, and scones with jam which were my favourite. The food was very good though I thought there would be more to come. The Ritz was stunning and all luxury, definitely worth the experience.

Absolutely glorious. The service was A1. The attentiveness without being cloying was fantastic. The food was exquisite and the variety of what was served was delightful. The decor of course is luxury all the way. Enjoy the English high tea, the lemon drizzle cake and the beautiful teas.

If you're looking to experience the sacred English afternoon tea tradition, please don't look any further. This tea will blow you away. I felt transported to the 1920's, and kept waiting for the dressing gong to ring. My lord, it was an absolute fancy affair.

From the beautifully gilded high ceilings, to the victorian inspired crockery/cutlery and the extremely well skilled pianist tickling the ivories, this experience was in a league of its own. Our server was exceptionally good, and we were pampered like we were living at Downton Abbey.

So I'll admit, presentation wise, everything mentioned above is what added to the glamour, not the food necessarily. But, I have yet to eat a yummier cucumber & mint sandwich that looked this plain. The very minimalistic looking cheese sandwich as well was yummy. The plainer and cleaner the food looked, the yummier it tasted. The reason I mention the vegetarian sandwiches is simply because, it takes a lot for me to want to bite into one, forget finish one, that doesn't have some sort of meat in it. The salmon was by far my favourite, and I would go back just to have some of those, if nothing else.

The vast array of pastries, scones and tarts didn't disappoint as well. Lovely craftsmanship by the pastry chef. Not being a 'tea' lover, it was mostly about the food for me, but I did order a pot of jasmine. They had a huge list of teas from all over the world and I was really tempted to try out the Chinese and Indian ones as well. I would stay away from the heavily flavoured and aromatic ones with berries as the classic ones were much much better on the palate.

Once they served the tea and the bites (which are unlimited by the way, for the whole hour and a half that you can occupy the table), we thought it was done. Oh man, were we wrong! They bring out a cake trolley with cheesecakes, sponges, iced cakes.. the works! After having a heavy tea, there always manages to be some space left for cake in my tummy. Had a slice of every cake they offered. These keep changing with days, but none disappointed! xx

This was the basic afternoon tea for 50 quid per head, excluding champagne.

Afternoon Tea at the Ritz was on our bucket list. Our experience from the start was magical, that is, right from the reservation. Friends have mentioned how there's been 6 months of waiting period for their reservation. Imagine my surprise when I managed to get a booking on our anniversary...just 2 months ahead!

First of all..I felt more royalty here than I did in a palace. The music, the finery, the ambience - they all add up to transport you to sheer opulence and class. We had a Champagne Afternoon Tea that came with finger sandwiches, scones, cakes and of course...tea. To be honest, my tea was ok; I have had better. However, the way it was served made me enjoy it with dainty sips. The finger sandwiches were fabulous - each and every one of them!

What completed my experience was a visit to the toilet. Call it vanity, but It actually felt good stepping into a door that read "Powder Room" (and not "Ladies' Toilet" with the symbol of a woman standing with her legs apart!),

The Afternoon Tea at the Ritz is an experience, not a place to go if you want wholesome food or a caffeine kick. Also, not a place for people who want value for money seen on the plate; but the value for money in terms of experience is brilliant!

Came here to tea. Absolutely loved it! We were travelling and they made it so easy for us to fit the dress code by loaning my husband a jacket and shoes. The food was amazing and they had all sorts of different desserts coming around. My husband was worried he would leave hungry but even he was stuffed! A very memorable experience!

Lovely high tea experience.... staff are very inviting & friendly. They replenish cakes and scones without asking (although we kindly refused as were stuffed from eating so much!). Celebrated birthday for sister in law and they had a small individual size cake presented to her with happy birthday played on piano! Was great afternoon!

I really loved my time at The Ritz and was reluctant to leave – I could sit in that dining room forever. The food was tasty and although being relatively simple at times it still packed a punch in terms of flavour. Match that with the friendly service and you’ve got yourself a cracking restaurant – a very expensive but cracking restaurant.

Christmas lunch at the Ritz hotel was guaranteed to set us back a long way, but with only two of us this year, an extra Christmassy vibe from somewhere as professional as the Ritz seemed rather attractive.

We had some concerns as you do, when visiting somewhere so prestigious and potentially wallet busting. High profile venues like The Ritz all too often live off past glories. Fortunately this was not the case here....

For some time now we have heard good things about the food at the Ritz Restaurant and it has been on our 'shadow list' of places to go. What has prevented us from going thus far however is the the dress code of jacket and tie, strictly adhered to, that makes it all seem such a fuss and makes us wonder if the place is not even faintly ridiculous. Yet when you get inside, it all seems quite charming and of course in Ritz-world, quite normal. And if you thought you had to dress up, the staff in full waistcoats and tails are in a league of their own and it can easily feel like you've strayed onto the set of the BBC's latest costume drama. The suit and tie then becomes the only way to blend in, and while it is undoubtedly old fashioned, there's also a dignity to the people and the place.  The Ritz then is without doubt at an extreme of the spectrum of London dining and that will intensely annoy some zealots for whom doctrine now dictates that shabby-chic, tattooed staff and

I have been to the Ritz many times now, and it continues to impress. It has one of the most attractive dining rooms in the capital, offers slick service and turns out high class classical cooking. The ingredient quality is high; for example live langoustines can be observed in its vast kitchen rather than the frozen ones so often used in London. There is no shortage of technique either, with a whole pigeon deboned and stuffed with chicken mousse and truffles at my last meal here. The pastry section is particularly skilful, turning out elaborate and enjoyable dishes. This is the most underrated of all the high end restaurants in London. - See more at: http://www.andyhayler.com/restaurant/ritz#sthash.xb0oTkr4.dpuf

It’s not everyday that one is invited to the Ritz. I’d never even stepped into the hotel prior to this invitation and I’ve been in London for 15 years! When one thinks of The Ritz, afternoon tea is usually the first thought that comes to mind (they serve 400 teas each day), not fine dining and I certainly never thought I’d ever see their kitchens, let alone dine there. But there I was on a Saturday morning, down in their basement kitchens, taking part in a pastry masterclass with The Ritz’s head pastry chef, Lewis Wilson. I forgot to ask Lewis whether he did this on a regular basis but he was a very very good teacher. He had an infinite amount of patience and explained everything very clearly. And everything was laid out, ready to go. We were going to make a vanilla, chocolate and hazelnut ice cream bombe. See that copper mould? It’s a Victorian one, sourced on ebay! We went through all the steps, from making the ice cream to making the hazelnut nougat parfait, to filling the mould all

My boyfriend gifted the afternoon tea experience for Christmas. I wasn't able to book a suitable date to use the certificate until 6 months later due to the booking/waiting times and our dates clashed frequently.
I loved the intimate space. It's a lot smaller than I imagined but it's very grand non the less.
The waiters were very attentive and helpful. The service was excellent.
The sandwiches and scones were divine.
Overall the whole experience was lovely and I definitely recommend going again.

We also came for the afternoon tea with champagne. Such a lovely experience. The ambience, service and tea options are top notch, you will feel so special. The vanilla black tea (with oat mylk) is incredible- best tea I’ve ever had. We brought my mom and she had such a lovely time. Our waiter was Rickie and he was amazing- so kind, welcoming and great recommendations.

Where to start….. this place is beautiful. The moment you walk into the hotel, you feel welcomed. The service is out of this world. I came here for the afternoon tea. I had such a magical experience. The food is delicious. The black vanilla tea is a must. A reservation is required which is secured by a credit card. I can’t wait to return.

We came for the afternoon tea. It was an unforgettable experience. 6 types of sandwiches, great choices of pastries & amazing varieties of tea. The hospitality was absolutely fantastic and special shout out to the one and only server, Mr Anuar! We were more than happy to meet someone from our homeland! He took good care of us and helped us to capture this very moment with great photos. Would love to visit again in the future!

We had very high expectations and even those were blown out of the water! Outstanding service, delicious teas and food, such a soothing ambience and incredible experience overall. Fantastic vegan / vegetarian options. The entire staff made us feel so special and cared for through the entire experience. Unlike other high tea experiences which feel rushed / impersonal, we felt so welcome to the point where we could stay there all evening :D The staff are so passionate about the little details - from making tea recommendations to discussing the stunning artwork. Couldn't recommend it enough and we'll definitely be back!

From the moment we stepped in to the moment we stepped out the whole experience was 100/10. The interior, atmosphere was perfect, true elegance. The staff were welcoming, elegant and super polite especially our waiter Joe; such an amazing person, very attentive, kind and made our whole experience even more memorable. I wish I could give him a tip or gift but not sure how. The food was amazing please do give best regards to the chef and on top of that everything was halal. each and every member of staff were amazing, so attentive to their guests. The Dorchester overall is an amazing experience. I would not hesitate at all to come again. Some may be weary about the pricing but I think it’s worth the money. Thank you so much Dorchester for the lovely hospitality.

Afternoon tea today at the Dorchester was a beautiful experience. Ambience, service, food and the opulence of the Promenade is so lovely. I am facing hospital treatment and they knew this and presented me with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Brought a tear just the thoughtfulness. I couldn’t recommend the Dorchester for afternoon tea highly enough. I’ve been to many London hotels for afternoon tea but the experience of The Dorchester is, in my view the best

Loved this place. Amazing Ambience, delicious food. The risotto was the best along with the steaks. Date pudding was awesome. Had one of the best Passion fruit mojitos. We were a big group of 9 adults and 8 children. The staff was amazing especially the Kenyan guy with Specs. Simply excellent place and food.

This is my second visit to have afternoon tea in 5 years. I chose this place as I recall the beautiful decor, excellent service and tasteful afternoon tea. I have had afternoon tea in many venues and, in my opinion, this is my favourite! I bought my mother for her birthday and she loved the whole experience. They have recently reopened after a renovation and the furnishings and decor are very tasteful. All of the staff were very pleasant and presented themselves proudly as members of such a prestigious venue. There were two staff members in particular that made our experience feel very personalised and unforgettable - Michele and Lucas. They were both very professional and friendly, please do pass on our thanks to them! The afternoon tea itself was delicious! You can order top ups of sandwiches, teas and cakes as you wish. We asked for a halal option this was catered for with no problem at all. The current price of afternoon tea is around £95/person (non alcoholic). Yes, it may be on the higher end of afternoon tea’s in London however the whole experience, from the staff to the decor to the delicious food, is what gives it it’s value. Thank you again.
