California roll, edamame, salad

What I liked the most?
Spicy edamame

What I thought?
This restaurant is the perfect restaurant to visit if you want the true London vibe.

Good food, very nice and attentive staff, well decorated space in a beautiful area in London!!
Only positive feedback that I will advice is regarding the portions, a little small so bare in mind when ordering and how much you plan on spending!

Our highlight has to be the Robata:
Yaki ise ebi ( Lobster)

Tokujou wagyu to kinoko

A meal at roka might not come cheap, but few things are guaranteed:
-Impeccable service
-great vibe ! entertaining if u sit by the robata counter
-Quality fresh food

One of my favourite Japanese restaurants in London. It keeps me coming back for more. Good location (literally 2 minutes away from Selfridges 😋) + friendly staff. I have tried almost every dishes they have and it never disappoints me! Totally worth every penny 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

For a special occasion this evening, K and I headed to Roka for some seriously special Japanese robata (charcoal grilled) food. We chose the Mayfair branch for its menu which includes black cod, a favourite of mine...
The verdict: Perfectly prepared and beautifully presented food that’s so incredibly tasty, it blew me away. Full marks to the kitchen. Service was at odds (either too much – we went from different servers descending on us one after the other, to non-existent). If you like Japanese food, you’ll love Roka.

Ambience, food, music, good crowd... if you want to experience all of them in one go - then Roka is the place to spend your evening

Been coming here for 2 year plus, ever since the place opened.

Needless to say the place hasn't failed me even once... my favourite Japanese in London.

We started at the bar and as the rose petal martinis flowed... we ordered the spinach salad, iceberg lettuce with caramelized onions, chicken yakitori, California rolls. Followed by Lamb chops, Roast Baby chicken and grilled salmon

The meal was great, staff was very kind and the company over dinner was exceptional so over all just a fantastic meal.

This place will blow your mind with it's Japanese fusion cuisine!
First of all let me start by saying wow what a sexy venue! The architect really did a great job on this one! If you happen to have a date and don't know where to go, this place will seal the deal for you.
If you happen to appreciate Japanese food Roka offers an endless variety of Japanese delicatessen.
Waiters are very friendly and helpful. The manager came over to check on us and chatted with me for a bit about their unique whisky selecion.
The only downside is, there's so much on the menu that will spin your head off but luckly they have accounted for that and offer you a set menu for 2 so you can have a little taste of everything.
Food was delicious indeed. No complaints.
Prices are on the high side and reservation is a must.

I do recommend. Great design, nice atmosphere and what is most important - decent food.

I wouldn't go for sushi as from my perspective this is the weakest point of this place but service, beef,
black code, lamb and snacks like grilled tofu or asparagus in soy with sesame is worth giving a shot.

Next time - if will take hotel at Oxford str again- surely will pay a visit.

Very posh
Very pricey
Very well presented food
However, it's busy and we were sat at the edge of a long table next to a lot of waiter/waitress traffic
Not an overall great experience when you're trying to celebrate an occasion
Book for table if you're gonna do that kinda thing I guess

Heard of it from a friend and it was just around the corner from the hotel I was staying at. Checked the menu outside and the two gentlemen at the door were ready to answer any questions about the eatery or the menu.

Interiors. Cozy feel. Simple yet elegant, with the focus on the display Sushi and Grill kitchen. Got a seat at the kitchen bar and be entertained by the Chefs at work behind.

Lunch. Ordered the raw salmon Maki and a Sushi Set of 6 as starters. Grilled beef skewers with peppers, Sea Bream fillet and Grilled Asparagus with sesame and Soy dressing.

All very nicely presented. My Sushi taste buds may be ageing or spoilt on the better ones I have eaten. The produce was fresh but failed to deliver the magic.

The skewers of beef and grilled asparagus were very nice, but the fish simply outstanding as was the service.

Cost per person without hard beverage - GBP35 including an optional service charge.

Will I visit again - Sure.

I come to Roka at least once a week - it has become my default client entertaining spot. This is because it is consistent and once you understand the menu, has something for everyone. It's the perfect introduction for those wary of Japanese/fusion. The menus is similar to Nobu but more reasonable. You can get sushi and sashimi here but I'd go for the items on the Robata grill, which is bang in the middle of the room. Particularly good are:
*Grilled aubergine with bonito flakes - this is an outstanding dish of umami richness
*Baby back ribs - luscious grilled pork ribs, firm and meaty.
*Tuna tataki - lightly seared squares of tuna over radish.
*Ebi no furai -sushi of crispy prawn wrapped in rice.
*Sesame spinach leaves.

I'd not particularly bother with dessert even though they sound great - they aren't up to the mark of the savoury dishes.
Roka is always consistent and I like the fact that it is one all day. You can eat here well for £25 a head if you order sensibly and avoid the crowd-pleasers like the black cod. It's also a great restaurant for the solo diner - ask to sit at the grill and you can watch the chefs in action. Probably my most revisited restaurant in London.

I wad quite disappointed as I was a big fan of Roka.

The salmon sashimi that my friend ordered for himself was too fatty that he sent the plate back. The octopus from their new plates was so hard to chew! It is like huge 3 pieces of octopus on each skewer. It took me few minutes until I could swallow one piece. We didnt even bother to give it a second chance; send the plate back.

The rest of the food was good. I like the atmosphere there; especially if you go two people and sit around the robata grill ..

We went to roka to celebrate my 21st birthday and certainly didn't regret it. It was absolutely incredible! We opted for the tasting menu. Every course got better. The soft shelled crab and the sashimi were the highlights for me. The dessert platter was amazing and there were loads of interesting bits to try. The staff were top notch too. Slightly expensive (especially the wine) but it's definitely worth it!

This was close to if not the best Japanese restaurant I have dined at. My dining partners and I shared a tasting menu, which at £58 per person was actually very good value. The tempura, sashimi, pickled vegetables, sushi, Teryaki, and Japanese desserts were spectacularly good. I loved the detailed attention to appearance and taste and the balance. Would love to go back.

Roka superb Japanese restaurant. From the ambience to the staff to the service excellent. We had spinach with sesame dressing , portobello mushrooms with sesame dressing, iceberg lettuce with caramalized onion, grilled tofu with soy and fried garlic , egg roll sushi and sweet potatoes. All were very good specially spinach and portobello mushrooms and the sweet potatoes. For main we had one dish hot pot with Japanese mushrooms which wasn't that great because it was really bland. They changed it for us and added some truffles and salt , tasted better. For dessert we had some peanut chocolate mouse with vanilla ice cream and yes it was good too. For drinks we had the Pinot noir red wine and it was perfect. Overall a great experience and would go back again here.

I was pleased to see that the bloody awful mistake that was Banca, the previous occupant of this premises, was shut down fairly quickly by its owners. It was joyless, clinical and misconceived. An overpriced pizza too far, even for Mayfair. I’ve been watching the building works, hoping for something I might actually like, or at least not hate. And given the radical transformation, I would never have known I was walking into the same premises, so very different is the feel. All dark wood, moody lighting and buzzy atmosphere, despite only having been open for a week or so, this is much more the ticket. It’s a great fit-out.  And given the dearth of smart yet lively places to eat in the vicinity,  I predict a long life.

Jus had lunch at roka. 3 things really impressed me. One was the selection of alcohol. I sat the bar so watched others drinks as well. Wow! Very talented bartenders. And huge array of cocktails. Two, the wagyu! They have a tartare! Oh my God! Worth it just for that. I love yellowtail and so I have to add that I loved the yellowtail sashimi but I might be bias. And three I loved the service. There are so many Japanese restaurants to go to in london. I'm not sure Roka is top I my list, but I would definitely go again.

Mr Silver and I love Roka in Charlotte Street, it's one of our favourite restaurants, and we were keen to try the new one in Mayfair. Well, it's new-ish as another Roka has now opened in Aldwych.

The interior of the restaurant is super-cool. There's a big open kitchen in the centre and patrons dine at the counter or at the carved wooden tables in the restaurant. I'd expected the Mayfair branch to be very similar to the Charlotte Street one and, while the decor was similar, the vibe is quite different. Charlotte Street feels quite casual, while the low lighting and intimate feel in Mayfair makes it feel chic, sexy and seductive... the perfect place for a birthday date night.

Look at my big smile in anticipation of wonderful sushi!

And Mr S knows he's about to have a very happy wife!

To continue as we'd started we ordered a bottle of Ruinart Blanc de Blancs..

Amazing service delivering amazing food

I went here with a group of 8 people and must say this was one of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had. Not only in terms of Japanese Cuisine but for all.

We had a bit of difficulty finding it but it was well worth the stress. The manager was very friendly and welcomed us in an amazing way - he was also very accommodating after we arrived 25 minutes late on account of our getting lost!

The food itself was delicious and competitively priced given the quality.
This was complimented perfectly with a very relaxed atmosphere.
I would suggest taking all they make because everything is great. For sure you can’t miss their sushi and sashimi.

In conclusion, this is a great restaurant for all sorts of occasions from meeting with friends to dates and meals with the family.

A very good Japanese restaurant is Roka located in Mayfair area. I think the sushi rolls are the best part of the place. Also, because of the creative way in which they place them on the dishes. It made me eat before with my eyes; and, I think it is really important to be attracted by food through all your senses!  We ordered also a few desserts, which were well presented and nicely made. I had some classic green tea ice-cream. I have to say it was DELICIOUS.

The atmosphere is relaxing and elegant. Perfect place for a date or an intimate group of friends. Roka is not pricey and the quality of the food is good. 50 £ for two should do.

Check availability before going.

Roka Mayfair is one of my favourite Mayfair restaurants for super yummy food without the guilt factor!

I'm not afraid to solo dine and Roka embrace me and seat me close to the grill to keep me entertained,  rather than putting me in a corner :) Having said that, this is also a fabulous venue for date with it's intimate seating.

My picks:
Rose Petal Martini
Rock Shrimp
Tuna Sashimi
Crab & Black Cod Dumplings

What ever the visit, Roka will welcome you with open arms.

Enjoy!

Roka.. One of my favourite Japanese restaurants in London..
Why? Because all the food is outstanding.. From the artistic sushi roll to the amazing jasmin tea baby pork ribs..
The presentation of the sashimi, on an Ice block is lovely! Makes you feel like the fish is just came out the water!!

With already many locations, I suggest you to go to this one or to the one in Charlotte Street where you will find an amazing lounge in the underground floor.

The desserts are just super cool! Like the one I've posted("chocolate buddha") so amazing and tasty!!

Must try if you didn't yet!!

There are not many restaurants that offer the perfect bar-side experience, but for couples, the bar seats are the ideal choice. One of our Favorite Japanese Restaurant is Roka and no matter wherever you try, Roka as well their Sister restaurant Zuma is always consistent in quality taste and that is one of the key reason of their success ! Being a vegetarian and having lots of options to try. We been to Roka Mayfair for first time, and the experience was one of the best in London. We ordered all signature dishes from vegetarian options. I personally missed to see their one of the best and my personal fav fish Roka “Baked Potato” with Yuzu on their menu here. Service was amazing except few dish took little longer than usual. It had an amazing vibe on weekdays and also glad to meet Legendary Indian Cricketer Mr. Sunil Gavaskar at Roka Mayfair. I picked this restaurant out of desperation because I couldn't get into a restaurant close by. The service from the door was incredible. The team was so helpful when I needed help with changing my son in their kid friendly bathroom. The food was a Discovery!!!! I didn't expect it to be that good. The highlight was the Creme Brulee with Pistachio and I sub-ed mine for the sweet potato ice-cream.. A delight! I also had the Yuzu Meringue pie... Phewww! Just perfect not to sweet and balanced with that lychee sorbet The chicken and waygu beef were sensational! The sushi was very very fresh and crisp tasting. The general ambiance was clean, minimalist but bold all at the same time with the wood themed decor. The service team really made everything sing. I'd go back over and over! Thoroughly impressed!

We had the premium tasting menu. It was as delicious as the photos look. From the best lamb cutlet I've had in my life, to a melt in your mouth chu-toro and infinitely moreish samachi sashimi Tuna tartare (that was also blow your socks off good), it was all excellent. 11 dishes in total. No duds. It was also the most expensive meal I've probably paid for in my life, £105 for the set menu, but the value feels about right. As a treat, it was a memorable experience.

Sitting at the counter is a must to enjoy all the cooking actions right at the centre of the restaurant. The service is extremely excellent and the team is happy to receive any suggestions/thoughts on food. The presentation and tastiness of the food are impeccable. Here's what I had to say about some of the food I had on the day with a completely empty stomach. [5 Sashimi Selection, Otoro (Fatty Tuna) Sashimi and Hotate (Scallop) Sashimi] - Quite standard selections for the sashimi shown in pic, e.g. salmon, tuna, hamachi, etc. - Otoro Sashimi was cut into fine dining size, and still tasted great and fresh - Hotate Sashimi on the limes to ease some 'strong' seafood odor and give a slightly sour twist in your mouth [Watarigani] - Soft-shell crab with a great attempt to use roasted chili as dressing (can be slightly spicy to those who do not eat spicy stuff often) - kinda like the attempt [Wagyu Gunkan] - Yes, wagyu sushi with caviar, spring onion, and ginger on top. Was recommended by the team to eat it without soy sauce, and yes, definitely go with their suggestion because this combination of the sauce (from wagyu) and the toppings had given more than enough umami taste for perfect satisfaction - It is a must-try sushi in my opinion (one of their ROKA signature sushis) [Gindara no Saikyo-yaki] - Black cod marinated in Yuzu mizo and covered by a leaf during the grilling process - how fascinating it is! (be sure not to miss the moment if you are sitting at the counter seat). The combination of the oily and flaky surface of the fish together with the refreshing and sweet Yuzu mizo is simply amazing. [Yaki Atsuage] - Quite huge portion of Tofu and Shiitake Mushroom covered with soy sauce and garlic, quite a delightful bite-style yakitori if you are not feeling full after the main course. PS. They do have a tasting menu with a minimum of 2 pax, which seems great in value for those who want to have a fancy taste of Japanese food.

Meal for two at 6:30, at the counter. Can recommend the counter - really good to see the kitchen making the food. Food was really good. Maybe we ordered well, but nothing disappointed. Service was good. Attentive enough, nothing to complain about. Didn’t have much to drink (nursing a bit of a hangover), just a glass of wine, a couple of sakes and a pair of non-alcoholic drinks. Bill was £170. Not terrible, but I could imagine easily spending £300 with a bit more food and a few G&Ts and wines.

Upscale restaurant in Mayfair. We made reservations in advance for the counter which turned out to be pretty cool watching the restaurant’s open kitchen. We had the seasonal signature menu (77 GBP pp) which was more than enough + 4 great cocktails. All dishes were delicious and special. The prices are fair for upscale rest’. A lot of reviews mentioned the slow and poor service. I wouldn’t say it’s poor but it definitely can be slow. Don’t let it ruin your experience and give one of the manager a notice about it (and hey maybe you’ll get free cocktails.

Booked the group dining room for my birthday, Grace who I liaised with to make the booking was super helpful and answered all my questions. The dining room itself is beautiful and perfect for group dinners/celebrations. The service was amazing from the start, all the staff were lovely, super helpful and accommodating. We all had the seasonal tasting menu, it’s great because there’s no faffing around with everyone ordering they just start bringing out the food. Food was great and was brought out in a timely manner, we were all stuffed by the end of it you get so much food for £70 tasting menu!! I had a birthday cake that I wanted to cut up and give out to my guests to take home and they gave me food boxes for this and also packed up the left over food we had for us to take home. Overall a lovely experience, would definitely recommend. Great food and great service.
