Food was really slow and took AGES to come out. I think we waited for 30 minutes or something, and it was already getting really late.
But the food was nice. Really loved the Truffle Mac and Cheese, which had a really strong (in a good and not overwhelming way) truffle aroma to it. The Sesame Crusted Tuna was also amazing. The tuna came in generous sizes, were cooked perfectly, and came with a salad with such delicious sauce. It's not a heavy main, thus a great choice if you're looking for something not heavy for dinner.
Smith & Wollensky has opened on John Adam Street, just off The Strand in central London. Having enjoyed their steaks in New York, we were keen to give this new UK branch a try. My birthday was approaching and it just happened to coincide with an promotion: prosecco, tomahawk steak, lobster and sides @ £35.00 per person...
The verdict: Excellent cocktails and steak in a classy, elegant space (the footman on the door is a good indication of the level of style – bordering on stuffy). A whole host of serving staff looked after us during our meal – some better than others, and were quite full on (a continuous stream checking if everything was ok. It still was…). Somewhere to go for a special occasion when you’re after a bit of pomp.
This restaurant was perfect, the staff are excellent the food as expected was great and the atmosphere was good even in these covid secure times. The measures in place were well explained and followed by all. Cant wait to go back in normal times.
Had a fantastic experience in this spot with my wife. The food came rapidly and the customer service is just excellent. Prices are reasonable.
Always reliable for an evening meal, and simply the best steak in town, but after 5 years of being regulars here we’ve had our first Sunday lunch and I have to say it was very good. We made it an early Christmas do, but the Eggs Benedict as starter was exceptional. Sadly no photo of that, but here’s Christmas lunch.
Absolutely amazing! Could not recommend this place enough, I’ll certainly be back! Service was impeccable, thank you so much for a great family dinner.
Arguably the best meal I've ever had in my life. Menu was varied and had something for everyone but the reason you come here is undoubtedly the steak. I had a smaller 225g sirloin and it was incredible. Cooked to perfection, melted in mouth and potentially would not have needed a steak knife that's how tender the cut was. All sides are large in portion and equally cooked beautifully.
Staff are attentive and happy to chat with you about your upcoming meal. Very discreet in asking if you would like another drink/pouring out your next glass of wine irrespective of the occasion.
Cocktails are masterfully made and were a hit all around as well as the wide selection of wines and their year.
Most guests were suited and booted however there was no issues with jeans and a t shirt. Was expensive but then again you knew that when you looked at this restaurant, don't let that put you off though, definitely worth it.
Very laid back overall and an amazing experience if you want to taste the best London can offer.
Fantastic steak restaurant! We have been to this restaurant a number of times for special catch ups and celebrations and we always have amazing food and the service is impeccable. We will definitely be returning in the future, I recommend the USDA Prime dry-aged steak, it’s the best!
This place blue my mind! Everything was amazing and definitely one of the best steaks I have ever had in the UK. I had the Kansas steak and peppercorn sauce, roast potatoes and mixed salad + some red wine Absolutely wanted more eventhough I was full. The waiters were very professional and helpful and service was timely
My sixth visit to this great restaurant.
The service food and cocktails are fantastic, you won’t get a better steak in london!.
We were served by a fantastic Brazilian lady called Patricia....she’s a credit to the restaurant.
