First and foremost, I still cannot believe I still ventured out of my warm bed in sub-zero weather for a birthday dinner!
But yes, it happened. I finally got to visit the famous steakhouse. Not only that, this one is beautiful glass house.
On arrival we were met by a lovely door host who ushered us in from the cold and made us feel very much welcome. We were offered drinks whilst we waited too but we were just too cold.
We eventually went downstairs to the restaurant area (upstairs is just the bar) and were seated after the birthday girl had a wardrobe malfunction (again, the door host came to the rescue with safety pins - much appreciated)! The ambience was nice and cosy and the tables set nicely.
Our waitress offered to show us the raw cuts so I said why not to gain the full experience. My friends were less interested.. aha ha. Nonetheless, she gave a great explanation of all the cuts and how best to have them done for full enjoyment. You can tell I like to get everything on offer, right?
My friends ordered their drinks, a bottle of champagne and cocktails and I asked for a jug of water. It took a while for our drinks to come out and so we enquired to find out that they had run out of passion fruit for the cocktails and had to go out and purchase some! Well I never (I usually make jokes like that when my order takes too long but first time actually experiencing it).
On ordering our food, we find out that there was no lamb shank left so the birthday girl got half a corn-fed chicken instead. I ordered gnocchi and broccoli with roasted almonds and Stilton. Ribeye steak was also ordered with chips and mash. There are not many options for vegetarians let alone vegans but I was expecting to have chips and dessert so actually a bonus having gnocchi.
The complimentary cheese bread was delayed because they had to bake it so we were given corn bread with butter and chimchurri followed by hot cheese bread. Absolutely delicious! I was really intrigued by the corn bread.
Our mains arrived in good timing and everyone was happy with the food. Well, except birthday girl’s spinach side that tasted as if it was over cooked so they brought her a fresh one which was much better.
I enjoyed my gnocchi especially considering it was my first time trying gnocchi. I garnished it with chimchurri (we went through two pots of the stuff!). The broccoli was not over cooked so was delighted about that but I am not a fan of the Stilton.
The food went down well and we really were stuffed. After our table was cleared, the cake was brought out as we loudly sang ‘happy birthday to you’. Our waitress had her moments but overall she was a pleasure and very helpful.
I can actually say that all the staff were great and even with delays in the service, it was well compensated with good character and humour.
Thank you Gaucho, Broadgate for hosting my dear friend’s 26th birthday dinner and making a cold night feel exceptionally warm!
I would highly recommend this Gaucho in particular for their service and lovely ambience.
Amazing food, great selection of cuts and yummy starters. I love the decoration and how spacious the place is. Also very good for ore-dinner drinks
This has to be one of the best steakhouses in the world. Cow leather seats, amazing steaks, sides and wine collection. Strongly recommend garlic spinach and mushrooms as a side for your staek.
You just have to go there. Nice interior and very goos service from all staff.
The way they explain the different meat is very nice. The meat itself taste fantastic.
All 4 of us were really satisfied with everything, but nothing can cope with Elsa. Her humor, knowledge and way of treating us as guests was really fantastic .
You should take very good care of her, and we will be back.
This is the best one of them all loved eating here had one of the best pieces of steak I have ever had, I like mine blue and these guys knew how to cook it perfectly. Great setting great food great atmosphere just fantastic
We ate here in june 2009, got to sat we loved the place atmosphere was incredible food was awesome. We visited gaucho in manchester on the strength of it.
Fantastic! Amazing attentive service and brilliant food. Could not ask for better. Very accommodating, for instance one of our party had Steak Tartare (a starter) as a main course and this caused no issues. A good range of both cocktails and mock-tails. All food was exquisite- well worth the money for a special meal
This used to be a restaurant of choice for lovers of great steak. it has lost our to many better places in London but I believe their outstanding waiter service is the real hallmark at this branch of the Gaucho Grill. I cannot praise it highly enough (Thank you Angie).
The steaks are the highlight of the menu and are generally excellent. The chefs have muddled up the orders at times and, if you're unlucky to have a new chef, you might not have the meat cooked to the right temperature as ordered. However the waiting team always go out of their way to correct it and ensure everyone gets well taken care of.
Drinks are also excellent, but the bartenders have a habit of being elsewhere when it's a quiet night... really should be there is very nearby anytime a seat at the bar is occupied.
The ambiance is also unique in that is an underground cavern for the main dining hall while the bar upstairs is in a modern glass igloo /trapezoid shaped structure (best way I can describe it).
All in all a highly recommended restaurant if you're in the area and fancy a good, albeit slightly pricey, steak and great drinks.
Our waitress Claudia was fantastic! Service was amazing with a great atmosphere. I will definitely be back!! And they were great with dealing with allergies and I felt safe in their hands
We had an absolutely amazing experience here last Friday evening - incredibly good food, drinks and service. Our waitress was super nice, very knowledgeable of all dishes and knew what to recommend based on our preferences. Would definitely go again!
Good location and a pleasant atmosphere. This restaurant manages to be busy without being too loud, so makes for an enjoyable meal.
All the food is fairly well cooked. Steaks are lovely, as they should be for a steak restaurant. Sides are a little disappointing. Some wine selections are reasonable, but many are seriously expensive.
I wouldn't spend my own money here, but in expenses it's fine
Customer service is definitely great. Kristina was serving us and was amazing. There were just some staff inside the glass room who kept staring but cant blame them because two of our friends came very late. They were also kind enough to extend our time but to be honest, it wasn’t busy on that Sunday. We did order drinks and food though while waiting.
The cocktails we love and the wine we love too. The steak was sort of a different approach than what we’re used to but also nice. Empanadas and ceviche were also both good. The mushrooms are surprisingly good! The chicken breast was ok.
Went here for my Christmas meal with my boss and the rest of our team. All had a lovely evening, food was very nice 😋😋😋
