Just a nice, well presented, very flavoursome meal. Good variety in the meal packs. Tuna and salmon the standout. Will be back. Venice Nguyen
Expensive but tasty and seemingly the only reliable choice of Japanese food in Greenwich town at the moment!
Something for everyone. I usually order the tuna sashimi and not disappointed by freshness of the dish. Good variety of sushi both raw and not raw. However my friend had the salmon carpaccio last time and didn't feel too well morning after so watch out if you don't have a strong stomach!
Their bbq sticks selection have me at hello! Strongly recommend the chicken balls aka chicken yakitori and the lamb chops! I normally like beef but wasn't that impressed.
2 things you should try for desserts: chocolate fondant and the creme brûlée.
Their set menus are good value and if you don't like a particular thing on the set just ask for an alternative. I always do!
I think the best sushi place in Greenwich! Friendly staff and lovely ambiance! Great place for lunch and dinner! But expensive but worth the try! 😍
Why Waste Annual Leave?
+4.5
What a great little addition to the Greenwich food sccene. Actually, it's not that little but it really is great, especially considering how central it is to the tourist scene in Greenwich.
It's pricey, don't get me wrong. If you are planning to come here, make it for a Friday night out, for a party, for an occasion. Don't do what we did which was to turn up on a Monday night just because we happened to have no food in the fridge - that kind of feeling just doesnt'n do it justice.,
The place has a funky and hip feel about it. Even the menus look cool and stylish. They have a great drinks selection even for the non-drinkers among us and knowing I had a naughty week of food ahead, I went for the healthy and thirst-quenching cucumber juice.
The menu is a bit overwhelming if you're visiting for the first time though they do come up with some helpful set menus if you are too stuck to choose. We must have stared at our menus for nearly 20 minutes just undecided on what food to order.
There re the sushi choices and then there are the "sticks". Each stick does cost a lot for the size but they have a huge number of choices. I had a teriyaki salmon stick as well as delicious scallops in a crispy covering. The spicy edamame and absolutely divine cauliflower with black truffle sauce provided our vegetables for the evening and I could happily have eaten nothing except that cauliflower all night here.
My husband then chose one of the salads for something a little more filling with chicken and duck whereas I opted for the miso cod sushi rolls.
Pleasantly full, we should have stopped there but we were too tempted by the way you can order desserts, in smll bitesize portions and ordering as many or as few as you like. We went for the black sesame ice cream, a delicious chocolate fondant and 2 small chocolates including one covered in sesame seeds. If you're feeling vey indulgent, you even order a box with all desserts include but we'll have to save that for another time.
This would be a great restaurant for a birthday do, for a fun night out with friendds or for a bit of an occasion. It is a little costly compared to some of the neighbouring sushi restaurants that are also very much to my liking but it does have a bit more novelty. If you are after a quick fix for a sushi craving or a light mid week meal, those other choices might be more appropriate but for something a bit more special and unique, this is definitely worth a try and a very welcome addition to Greenwich.
The split of Japan and Denmark is core to the entire experience at Stick 'n' Sushi. Sticks 'n' Sushi is a Japanese restaurant that comes from Copenhagen and honours both nations in everything it does.
Interesting and extensive menu, traditional and fusion sushi and yakitori. Have the Hell's Kitchen roll and the miso cod sushi. If you are there for lunch sit at the back under the skylight. Lovely Scandinavian design.
Brothers Jens and Kim Rahbek and Thor Andersen founded sticks n Sushi over 18 years ago. With a menu consisting of fresh sushi and grilled yakitori sticks, Sticks n Sushi has been well received in Denmark, where there is 10 restaurants. Now with their eyes set on London, Covent Garden and Wimbledon were the first locations and they have recently opened in Greenwich with one in Canary Wharf on the way.
As I live in Greenwich, it seemed only fair for me to get my chopsticks skills on and try the place out. You can order your sushi and sticks as separate dishes or choose from one of the 14 set menus.
We chose the Monte Carlos option, which is a large menu and you definitely won’t be leaving hungry.
Edamame beans tossed in soy, ginger and garlic were a welcome starting dish and a nice difference to the normal beans with rock salt. Crunchy ebi bites with chilli and miso aioli were absolutely delicious. Beautiful looking beef tataki with smoked cheese, almonds chives and yuzu-kosho made for intense and delightful mouthful. Ebi panko roll topped with avocado and spicy sauce with the crispy tempura prawn was one of my favourites of the meal. The shake aioli roll consisting of peas, avocado, cucumber, miso-aioli topped with seared salmon and trout roe was a pretty bite-size piece of food, tasting as good as it looked. Seared salmon, yellow tail and tuna nigiri along with salmon, tuna and sea bass sashimi were all extremely fresh and had a better tasting quality to them compared to other sushi places I’ve dined at.
The yakitori sticks included asparagus wrapped in bacon, black cod marinated with miso and lamb chops with miso herb butter. The best out of these was the black cod, delicate pieces of fish with saltiness added through miso. The lamb tasted nice, but was a little bit chewy. The asparagus was fresh and cooked well, but unfortunately I couldn’t get any flavour from the bacon.
Dessert was a box of four petite ones called ‘dark’. The first was a black sesame ice cream, which I wasn’t overly keen on, but that is just my preference. The orange bergamot orange crème brulee was silky with a good caramelised top. Marcel chocolate cake with crystallised white chocolate was a tasty spoonful, and reminded me a bit of thick mousse or even truffle. My favourite of the four was the dark fondant with chocolate caramel and hazelnut brittle. If you like a gooey, sweet and rich dessert then this is for you.
The service received was good and our waiter was knowledgeable of the wine. When our set menu was served the waiter also went through each item listing what each was and what they consisted of. Every now and then the staff randomly shout out Japanese words/phrases, so if you’re a little jumpy, beware…. But, hey, at least you’ll have a heart attack scoffing some good sushi.
New little Japanese place I never knew existed until one fortunate day.
I went to sticks n sushi for a birthday dinner, the decor is a bit typical of a Japanese restaurant (Brown wooden tables and you sit around different people). But it had lil modern notes. Deciding what to eat was a bit of a process as there was so much to choose from. You can choose from the set menu or build your own plate choosing different meats on stick.
I opted for the big chicken and little duck, this came with rice and edamame beans.
Presentation was ok, on a wooden board, it looked small but once i started eating i quickly realized how wrong and full I was.
The chicken and duck was tasty with the dipping sauce but the roasted edamame beans ????( I'm hooked).
The waiters were friendly and helpful and served us promptly. Generally enjoyed the experience. Would go back again
Really good food, great service. We got the tuna & avocado starter (pic attached) - it would have been nice if the tuna & avocado were on the 'biscuit' thing provided.
Crab croquettes were fab. Sushi was really nice, but thought the prawn and crab were either a bit salty or a bit overcooked - but was still very good.
Service was great, had a lovely waitress!
Had the set menu when we visited for lunch with cocktails.
The food was okay, I’d say chose your own rather than set menu. The cod and miso sticks were good, the edamame was seasoned very well. Some of the ceviche was great.
The duck stick with egg yolk wasn’t great though, wouldn’t order again. The scallops were good, the wagu tartar didn’t have much taste.
A lot of it tasted quite sweet too.
Staff were friendly and attentive though.
A super nice experience in a very fancy restaurant.
The menu is very appealing with clear imagery for each dish. The way they shot the food makes you order everything and the dishes are as presented in their photos.
Taste was amazing with rich flavors and great options that could accommodate to all tastes.
Service was super good and staff were friendly.
One of my top 10 meals in my entire life. I give sticksnsushi a higher rating than ROKA (even though i love the food) in flavours, freshness of fish and the value for the money spent. Every mouth full was heaven. Completely satisfied and in disbelief the generous portions and outstanding value for money. Absolute fan and impeccable service. 👏
Great choice of food,. One of the best sushi I ever had. Nice decor. Didn’t feel very welcomed though by the staff. Some of the staff very nice ( Greek lady) but not everyone. We have ordered 3 meals and only one of them arrived quickly, for the other two we had to ask after 20 mins wait. Don’t think I would go back there, maybe I would order take away as food was lovely, complimentary to the chefs.
Wonderful place and reasonably priced. Make a reservation Fri and weekends if you visit otherwise not too difficult to get a spot. Drinks took a little longer to come but apart from that was great
We ordered a menu and everything was as we expected. They were very attentive and we feel very welcome and the spot from the window is lovely and enjoyable.
The restaurant is located closed to the market and in a aesthetic street. Everything looked quite clean and they were always checking what we need.
Went in on a whim and had the most amazing sushi. Spotted Sipsmith behind the bar as soon as we walked in and they made me the most refreshing G&T, perfect for a hot day of sightseeing. Then we sampled a few of their delectable cocktails for good measure! The menu is extensive and we didn't have very long, so were grateful for the set menus, which were perfect.
This restaurant crafts exquisitely fine sushi that not only pleases the palate but also delights the eye. Each bite was a symphony of flavors, making it undoubtedly the finest sushi establishment in the Greenwich vicinity. The ambience inside elevates the dining experience to a new level of luxury. A delicate balance of sophisticated design elements and subtle lighting, the interior is as impressive as the culinary offerings. Yes, it might lean on the pricier side, but the exceptional quality of the food and the superior service certainly justifies it. Dining here was a truly unforgettable experience and one that I would highly recommend.
To be honest it’s my first great experience for restaurant service in London for all my 3 years living here. Food is served fast , it’s fresh and delicious, very cute atmosphere in the restaurant, and I just want to say huge thank you to the waiter Roberto, he definitely knows his work and he was amazing today. I will be definitely coming back to this place.
