While staying at the Covent Garden Hotel in August 2016 we had breakfast daily at Brasserie Max. The breakfast spread, service and menu options were absolutely fantastic and without doubt the most beautifully put together breakfast of any hotel I’ve stayed.
The continental items were fresh with plenty of choice with beautiful berries, fruit and cereals, pastries and condiments. The daily juices and hot menu items were also delicious.
Later in our stay we also visited the bar for an evening drink with canapés, along with a late night tea sitting outside enjoying the street view. We thoroughly enjoyed each of our experiences.
A beautiful place to enjoy time together with good quality produce and service.
Where can you get the afternoon tea trifecta of food quality, service and atmosphere? Definitely at the Covent Garden Hotel's Brasserie Max. I've had meals at three of the six Firmdale Hotels in London and can honestly say they offer the absolute best deal on afternoon tea. Compared to other hotels that offer afternoon tea for easily twice the price, you can not go wrong at Brasserie Max. I have a full review with all the mouth-watering pictures on my blog Sunny in London. I had the opportunity to experience the Chelsea Tea, which was only offered over the weekend in honour of the Chelsea Flower Show. The entire experience was superior.
This was my first afternoon experience, and it exceeded my expectations. The staff was super friendly and attentive. They swapped out one of the sandwiches for another flavor because I don't like salmon. The waiter recommended the jasmine tea, and omg, was it delicious. The restaurant was very clean and cute. I would recommend this place.
Beautiful decor and ambiance. Really appreciated small gestures, going to the gents and returning to the table and your napkin had been beautifully refolded and placed on the table.
Really good varied menu. The sirloin had to be sent back as it was too fatty and sinewy and the rib eye pork was tough. However, the South African waiter/maitre d was wonderful in turning the situation around to our satisfaction. Wonderful service by him. All other courses were superb.
My friend and I were well looked after, I enjoyed the salmon royale. We were able to swap the brunch cocktail to a mocktail on the a la carte menu, which was delicious.
Excellent London lunch service! We had the pumpkin and blue cheese bruschetta, whipped beetroot, caesar salad, and fish and chips. I Live in NYC and often dine at the Crosby Bar (other Firmdale Hotel property). I was pleasantly surprised at the consistency of food/service/hospitality. We will return again!
Afternoon tea for 2.
Bread on some of the sandwiches was not great, slightly harder that what would be expected. Did send back and the issue was resolved.
Overall good.
Great service

My husband and I had the most exceptional experience here and some of the best food I’ve ever tasted. We walked in with no reservation, were made feel so welcome and the service accompanying such incredible food was just perfect. A huge thanks to Patricia and Rhia for hosting us and we will definitely be returning on our next visit to the city.
I was recommended here for the afternoon tea, and I was very happy and fully satisfied.
Attentive service, reasonably priced set menu (which changes monthly) and lovely setting. Not too busy when we went on a Sunday evening but it still had a pleasant atmosphere - it would be great for a date or a nice meal. The food was good but I was especially pleased with my panna cotta which was delicious. I definitely would come again.
A great price for a lovely high tea service. We were only in London for 48hours and love a high tea. They were able to take us at noon on a Tuesday. This place had a nice atmosphere and very tasty food. We loved our view of the road from the window.
First class all the way, from the attentive service to the food to the elegant decor.
Excellent customer service and cocktails, didn't eat there this time but will go back to do so 🍸
We came across this restaurant during our morning walk and popped in for breakfast. The interior was beautiful, vibe was relaxed and classy & the food and service was commendable. Our host Isabela gave us great service and we really enjoyed our interaction with a few other staff members (Marta) who were very kind. Overall I recommend a visit here
On a cold rainy day we were walking past and decided to stop for lunch at Max. What a great decision! Cosy, comfortable and the best service. Gluten free was easy. Food was perfect and the pot of tea was huge.
A gorgeous place and gorgeous staff! Popped in for lunch, the cocktails were Devine and the food wonderful. Ideal for a winters day in London!
Cosy brasserie near Covent Garden situated inside a posh hotel. Food is great, service is fantastic with attentive staff with perfect timing. Definitely not one of London's cheapest places but recommended for special occasions.
I’ve had a few meals here in the past but just stopped by for a quick cocktail. The staff were so accommodating and I loved sitting outside and relaxing on their street side patio. St. Germain is doing a special cocktail menu for the summer and I truly enjoyed the Backyard Fizz. Summer in a glass. Five stars for the friendly service.
