Nissi on Aldermans Hill, Palmers Green is a friendly, family-run Greek restaurant well worth travelling to North London for. Clean and spruce with efficient, if a little brusque, waiters (they were busy, it was late), it's a great venue for a birthday get-together for a few lovely ladies, including a vegetarian and a wheat-intolerant. As the Prosecco flowed, despite the occasional fly-dunking, we ploughed through most of the dishes on the starter menu, sharing each one in true Greek style.
For Round 1, we ordered several dishes from the mezedakia menus. Htipiti was a delicious coarse dip of roasted peppers and chillies with feta cheese and herbs - so good we ordered it again for the second course. Grilled halloumi was tender and not squeaky at all, and the beetroot and bean dishes were subtly flavoured and easy to finish. My favourite was the Spanakopittedes, filo parcels with feta, spinach and dill. The fresh calamari was also tender in a crispy batter, a mixture of squid rings and baby squid, with cracked pepper.
Round 2 was a mixture of mezedakia dishes and a couple of mains. More hiptiki obviously, as it was so amazing, as well as a Greek salad, a spinach dish and enormous Cypriot chips. The grilled octopus was smothered in oregano, olive oil and lemon and was outstanding. Swordfish souvlaki was fresh and marinated with peppers and courgettes. Our one meat dish was lamb cutlets with an exquisite mint crust, and to finish there was complementary pistachio ice cream and with melons.
Overall the food was excellent and I would definitely recommend sharing lots of smaller dishes rather than having one dish to yourself. There was no problem at all for our veggie friend nor our wheat-free one. The staff were attentive and rather charming at times, and more than accommodating when we couldn't decide...
One of the best meze I've had in a long time.
The food was excellent and cooked to perfection. The fish you get was delicious and the fruit at the end of the meal just finished the course nicely.
Service could have been better and drinks took a while to arrive and main course took 30 mins but apart from that the food was awesome.
Will definitely go again and maybe try something off the menu rather than the meze.
Lovely Greek restaurant with a decently priced menu.
The Kolokithokeftedes, shredded courgette, feta & herbs, rolled into balls & lightly fried are a must!!! As are the Cyprus Chips.
Do not leave without having the grilled octopus served with oregano, olive oil & lemon dressing!!
Booking in advance is recommended, as this restaurant is always full of Greeks!!
Fantastic Greek cuisine at a very affordable price!
This restaurant offers a very high standard of Authentic Greek Food. You have a choice if ordering your own food or having a Meze where you will be given waves of food staggered one after the other.
The first wave consists of cold starters with multiple Greek dips and bread (make sure you don’t fill up on the bread). Followed by hot starters of grilled Halloumi. Then high quality fish such as grilled skewers of sword fish, deep fried Calamri and charcoal grilled octopus. Then finally skewers of juicy chicken and pork (souvlaki).
To top it off you will receive some rose water and vanilla ice cream.
The food was wonderful and the staff was attentive to our needs. Atmosphere was a though you were transported to a Greek island with Greek music in the background you nearly forget you are in London.
Well worth a visit.
Tried this place for the first time last night and was blown away by the variety of food and attention we got from the staff. The host was brilliant and made some recommendations.. keep up the good work, service is everything and what we received was truly fantastic. I will be coming back very soon for sure
Thank you 👍🏽
10 stars! ✨
I really enjoyed this restaurant and even though I live miles away, I shall look for reasons to return!
So, what was so great about my experience?
The venue had a lovely warm ambience, I felt like I was in Cyprus, the staff (and owner) were lovely and the food 🍲, my goodness, it was superb! 😃 👌
I think this is a great spot for couples, friends and family.
It had such a good vibe and as you can see from the pics, the food looks so fresh and appetising. 😋
Definitely worth a visit.
I have been here for the second time and I can say it was really good in both occasions. If you are not sure what to get, the tasting menu will give you a good idea of how great their food is. Generous portions and really attentive service. Loved it and will be back for sure!
Excellent Greek restaurant in Palmer's Green. It was buzzing on the Sunday lunchtime we went, mainly with local Greek families, which must be a good sign. The calamari starter and the main course chicken souvlaki my wife and I had were excellent and the little rose ice cream we had rounded things off nicely. They did their best to cater for our son's partner, who is vegan l, but there's maybe a need to look into this aspect of the menu as more and more people are turning to a totally animal-free diet. It's not a particularly cheap restaurant but the quality of food, the friendly staff and the authentic atmosphere all made for a lovely lunchtime experience. We will be back.
Amazing food and great quality. Quick and friendly service too.
Atmosphere is very loud and tight tables but lovely simple decor and very clean
We had a few meze starters, main each and shared sides and still paid £50pp which is top end for greek food
Lovely food in a vibrant restaurant. Good quality ingredients well cooked and the best chips bar none! It’s the Cypriot potatoes apparently!!! Highly recommend the lunch menu which is superb value. Nice Greek salad too. Always busy which is testament to the place.
How fantastic is this restaurant, from the front of house to the waiting staff and the chef's all just first class. The food was as good Greek food as I have ever eaten with the exception of my grandmother. I would recommend Nissi for everything from a business meeting to an intimate meal for to. Just the most fantastic find.
Went on a Monday evening as part of the 'eat out to help out' scheme. Busy, but still taking practical precautions on social distancing. The food here is really exceptional, everything was better than expected - fresh and beautifully prepared. Staff attentive and efficient. We had the (huge) meze platter for 2 so we could try lots of things. Thoroughly recommend it, especially if it's your first time here, as you get a good selection, and not just the cheap things either - swordfish, crayfish and octopus are all included. Genuine 5 stars.
Best Greek Cypriot food in London , amazing calamari and octopus and pork souvlaki was so tasty
Lovely staff and excellent service
Delicious food and portions are quiet large, so I would suggest to choose around 5-6 different plates. Refreshing drinks and lovely atmosphere.
Also I would suggest to book in advance as weekends and evening are mostly busy.
Wow have not been here for years but people kept on telling me the food was out of this world so my wife and I thought we would give it a try. The restaurants decor is very nice and so were the staff.
We both ordered Mezes as this is what we normally have when we go to any Greek restaurant so that we can compare the different styles and quality of foods that are given to us.
So their starters (the dips) were not that great in my opinion but they were not horrible either there were just a few of them I did not like but the presentation was amazing. The next round of dishes that came out and the ones after that were absolutely amazing. They brought out a large salad with the starters which was a good touch my wife liked this because she said that it was nice to eat salad with all the different meals.
What blew me away was the octopus, calamari. jumbo King prawns. They were tasty soft and very enjoyable to eat and the jumbo prawns well they were jumbo.
The last platter was a sea bream and swordfish. The sea bream was thick and meaty and tasty and the swordfish was soft and amazingly tasty also.
I will be definitely going back to the restaurant again as for me and my wife it is all about the food and the service.
As always, fantastic food & atmosphere and you never leave hungry!
Excellent staff who are always helpful & vwry friendly .
We wouldn't go anywhere else!
Make sure you book in advance to avoid disappointment of missing out on good quality food & a lovely restaurant setting.
My first mezze and I really enjoyed it! The food was beautifully presented and very tasty. I most enjoyed the grilled octopus. I felt very full even though I've been holding back, but the beautiful rose and pistachio ice creams at the end helped a lot! Service was OK and overall a lovely experience.
We attending here on Friday night. We were promptly seated at our table where we were provided with menus straight away. Within 5 mins our drinks order was taken and provided straight away.
We all decided to go for the meze which had a good variation of dips and starter plates. This would followed by the many fish dishes including calamari, octopus and swordfish. After that the meat mains where provided.
The meze was very filling and plenty us 7 people. We were also provide with complementary ice cream (rose and mastihi flavours).
The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend Nissi for food Greek food and will be returning again for sure.

Excellent restaurant clean, and wonderfully layout. The food was excellent and very tasty along with a good and attentive service. Atmosphere was good too although we were the only one's in the restaurant between 2.30 and 5pm. Would certainly go back and recommend.
We were shown to our table straight away (reserved). The waitress was very attentive. The food was delicious.
I am not a review kind of person but I need to just let everyone know that this is the best Greek food and service you will get in London! Don’t bother with anywhere else, I’ve tried them all and ;
1. Every other Greek restaurant in North & East London has moody waiters , owners who act like they are doing YOU a favour by being there. Nissi on the other hand have the nicest, friendly and warm waitresses and owners. You always feel welcome and at home..
2. I have eaten at EVERY Greek restaurant in London and the food at Nissi is quite simply the best ….
Best Meze, best meat, best fish and 100% best Calamari !!!
I am Greek myself and the one thing I really miss from the Greek Islands is the Calamari and in all my years the only Calamri in London that taste authentically Greek and comes close to Greek Island Calamari is Nissi. The flavour is perfect and it is cooked in fresh oil , not burnt oil like the rubbish you get in other Greek restaurants.
3. And FINALLY you get value for money , they don’t try to rip you off , they don’t charge you £12 for a Greek salad that is full of lettuce leaves and has two bit of feta on it …
Like I said , not a review kind of person but for anyone who doesn’t know which Greek restaurant in north & east London to go to, GO TO NISSI, you will not be disappointed!!!
I am proud to say that NISSI represents GREEK hospitality and GREEK food, the other places in London , not so much ( Desiree, Blue Olive , A touch of Greek, Friskardo etc ) …
A pleasant experience, the food very fresh and the taste absolutely fantastic .... All the staff of the place was very attentive to us and the special service. I highly recommend.
