Perfect location for a pre-theatre menu & they are really good at making sure you have time to eat before your show as well. The scale of the restaurant is huge, it just keeps going and going! The potted beef with yorkshire puddings was amazing! Something really different and you can't go wrong with a steak from any of their branches! The cocktails are good too.

Yogurt, toasted almond and raisins. One of their popular item to start off, unfortunately ours came a little cold. I thought it would be nicer to have it lukewarm. Grilled Bone Marrow (£4.50). Certainly too much for two pax - the bone marrow is massive!. Sunday Roast (£21). Duck fat roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, greens, lashing of bone marrow and onion gravy. Very large portion, and the duck fat potatoes is something. I just did not like the main item - the beef which had a little too gamey for my likings. Having it with the onion gravy did not improve the weird taste either.

Excellent service was the highlight of the experience!
Had salacombe crab on toast, small portion but very good.
Ribeye wasn’t great but sirloin was excellent!!
Loved the dessert gesture for our anniversary.

Went there for dinner on a Thursday night without a reservation and managed to get a place. We ordered the 800g T-bone steak to share as well as the lobster and sides of spinach, mac and cheese, mushrooms and backed sweet potato, which were all pretty good. We also ordered bone marrow which had too much seasoning. Ambiance and service was good.

We ordered 1kg Porterhouse steak. It was an excellent cut of meat, wasn't chewy at all, love the thickness of the steak 😍 However I was still hungry after eating and lights in the restaurant were almost non-existent so it's not very camera friendly, luckily I had my tripod with me to take this picture with long exposure shooting of 8 seconds

Well - I guess this is one of the best places to dive into a massive hunk of meat in London, and am happy to say i've ticked this baby off the checklist.

After watching a plethora of food shows on Netflix, most notably, "Steak Revolution" - I couldn't resist the need to spend some money on the best steak available in the city.

4 guys, one 1.1 kilo porterhouse, two sides of the grilled bone marrow, 2 portions of the Tamworth belly ribs, 2  sides of the roasted field mushrooms, 3 of the beef dripping fries (I'd rate this as the next best thing after the steak - ADDICTIVE. We kept ordering one after the other).  2 classic old fashioned cocktails per person. What a LEGENDARY dining experience.

The steak was brilliant - medium rare - we literally breathed it in. Gone in 60 seconds or maybe less. The bone marrow was a bit disappointing - kinda over-hyped I felt. Or maybe I was expecting a bit more. I've never had grilled bone marrow before. The pork belly was so so good. It's amazing that you can create such magic with arguably one of the cheapest cuts of meat available on the market.

This is a special dining experience for sure. Next on my list is Peter Luger's in New York City. I feel so stupid didn't make it there when i went for a short visit this year. Oh well - someday for sure..

Visited this branch of Hawksmoor as part of a birthday treat. The restaurant is split into a bar area leading into the dining area. The decor has a Gatsby feel to it and is very grand. But the staff are professional yet very laid back, so there's a relaxed feeling all round. Our starter was corse smoked mackerel pate, served with thinly sliced toasted bread and fresh cucumbers in a dill dressing. The cucumbers helped to cut some of the richness from the mackerel pate and was a very good combination. For our steak, we opted for the best cut on the menu - the chateaubriand. For a 650g steak between 2 people, this alone cost us £84.50. Was it worth it? Hell yes! The steak was cooked to perfection and with every single mouthful, you could taste the respect, care and love that went into it. Normally we'd have our steak without sauce, but we were curious to taste the bone marrow gravy - bad choice as it shadowed the great taste of the steak. For sides we had the asparagus and beef dripping fries - equally as good as the steak. To top it off, we had specially decorated desserts! Very enjoyable night all round and would recommend you visit Hawksmoor soon!

Good cocktails, good steak, good wine, good dessert, shame about the starter.

On the quest of finding the best scallops in London, I ordered scallops with white port and garlic as a starter at Hawksmoor to find it too garlicky for my liking and overpowering the nice scallops themselves. 15 quid for it as well! Please waste your money elsewhere!

Hearing good things about steaks at Hawksmoor I now understand the hype as my medium rare rib eye was melting in my mouth, every single bite. Sauce isn't necessary and though they aren't that special either

Desserts was some peanut butter shortbread with salted caramel ice cream - approved approved approved!!! What a good way to end a good meal!

The place is massive! Good dining place, good atmos though nothing too special. Off regent street and near Piccadilly Circus.

I had 2 cocktails, 1 glass of white, half bottle of red, starter, main, side, dessert, glass of prosecco and the damage is 100 quid. I need to eat and drink less!!

For our mains we decided we had to try a steak, but also being a Sunday, it was evident that the Sunday Roast was hugely popular so we went for one of those too.

The Sunday Roast was a healthy portion of overnight cooked beef with sides of roast potatoes, carrots, greens, Yorkshire pudding, gravy and roasted garlic. Mr R was delighted with how soft the beef was. They gave the option of having it medium rare or well done and obviously from the photo it’s evident that he went for the medium rare.

Having shared the veggies and the Yorkshire pudding, I can vouch for the fact that the potatoes were seriously crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside; the Yorkshire pudding was cooked to perfection and the garlic was a delicious accompaniment.

I've always got room for dessert. Especially when dessert becomes an occasion in itself. We popped into Hawksmoor on an evening in the city to have dessert, and weren't disappointed.

Sitting in the bar area, there was a quiet and relaxed vibe (it WAS a Sunday night though!) as we sipped on our wine (me) and Meantime lager (boy). Our desserts were served to us, breathtakingly beautiful and prime for Instagramming. I'd chosen the Black Forest Pavlova and he went for the Peanut Butter Shortbread with Salted Caramel ice cream.

They were both impossibly tasty, the Pavlova was just a huge heap of fruity chocolate-y loveliness with crispy meringue setting it all off perfectly. The shortbread was perfectly cooked, with beautiful melt-y salted caramel ice cream on top. For a high end restaurant, I was quite impressed with the sizes - particularly for the pavlova, which was pretty huge!

On the pricey side for dessert, but definitely worth it for a tasty treat. Although next time, we're coming for the steak!

I love birthdays - they're an excuse to get dressed up, go to a fancy restaurant and have fun! Andy's birthday this year was no exception, and though I had had some luck getting a last minute-ish table at Bob Bob Ricard a couple of weeks earlier, I was much more organised when it came to booking Hawksmoor! In fact, I think I booked in at least March - but boy was it worth it!

I visited Hawksmoor Air Street a couple of weeks ago and took my boyfriend as part of his birthday present. The wonderful SilverSpoon London  had recommended the restaurant, so I knew I would be in for some excellent food.

We started with a round of cocktails which were absolutely delicious! Our waiter knew the cocktail, and wine, menu very well and was able to advise us on cocktails based on our tastes and preferences. Instead of starters we had the salmon tartare crisps which were delicious!

Obviously we had steak for main course! It was wonderful - cooked to perfection, the portion size was generous and the meat itself was of the highest quality.

The puddings were also spectacular! The sundae was huuuge and the salted caramel and peanut butter shortbread was divine.

The service was great, as I said the waiter was very knowledgeable and more than willing to help us. The only slip up, and reason I'm giving Hawksmoor a 4.5 and not a 5 is that I had asked for happy birthday to be written on my boyfriend's dessert plate, but after I emailed them and complained, the service has also been exceptional and we've been offered a round of drinks to apologise.

A great restaurant for a celebration - definitely worth the price tag.

Rather than buy presents for my friends and family's birthdays, i like to take them to places or go somewhere unusual so that we can share an experience. it was recently my mum's 51st and i wanted to take her somewhere nice in London where the two of us could have a chat and some good food so i decided to take her along to the hawksmoor for lunch.

i ordered the roasted bone marrow with onions and toast to start. it was deliciously indulgent and the sweet onions balanced perfectly with the gelatinous marrow - absolute perfection on a plate!

or the main course, i opted for the 250g rib-eye steak - ordered rare, perfectly cooked.  we also ordered an array of sides including sweet potato, triple cooked chips, buttered greens and bearnaise sauce to share.  Finally we ordered a sticky toffee pudding to share for dessert. i can't begin to describe how good it was - or how i full i was - but it was all worth it!

i highly recommend the express lunch menu at the hawksmoor - it is incredible value at only £26 for three courses and the food really is as delicious as it looks! Our total bill came to just under £90 and included three courses, a glass of prosecco each and service charge

I've never been one to gush about steak. I mean, steak is awesome and all, but steak's steak right? Wrong.

Steak at the hawksmoor is something else. We shared a 900g chateaubriand that was, quite simply, perfection. 4 sides to share accompanied it, of which the creamed spinach stood out enormously. All washed down by 2 bottles of 2006 Bordeaux. What a night!

Hawksmoor Air Street is the fourth in the group of excellent British steak restaurants that us Londoners are lucky enough to have. Unlike Gaucho, which tends to be filled with posers who look like they’ve never eaten a steak, at Hawksmoor there is no messing around. You’re there for the quality of the meat, and the no-nonsense bare-brick walls, low lighting and chunky furnishings reflect what is soon sitting on your plate in front of you. So when I heard that the Air Street venture was also specialising in fish I was shocked. At Hawksmoor? Really? It’s like when McDonald’s put salads and deli sandwiches on their menu. It just broke tradition and didn’t fit. It’s a STEAK restaurant, that’s where you forged your name, I don’t want to turn up and hear what the catch of the day is. Just off Regent Street, this Hawksmoor spans across a huge co

According to the website, Hawksmoor travelled the world to find the perfect steak but actually it is from here in Britain. The  menu  offers lots of fish as well as meat and a good mix of starters (steak tartar, ribs, Caesar salad). I wanted the Bixham crab on toast with mayonnaise to begin with however they were unfortunately out of crab and lobster. Instead I had the roast scallops with white port and garlic. These were delicious - big juicy scallops in a garlicy sauce - it reminded me of snails in garlic and I even ordered some bread and butter to mop up the sauce! Pascal ordered the smoked salmon which came with a delicious herby cream cheese and brown bread. This was very tasty and fresh. For mains we both had the 400g rib eye steak which we agreed is one of the best steaks we have ever had. It was so tender and full of flavour - I don't think I have ever tasted anything like it.

I always here about the steaks at Hawksmoor even before coming to London.. Finally after many attempts to eat here, I was finally able to… I had high expectations and wow the food went even beyond my expectations! Hawksmoor service is as good as the food and the art decor of the interior gave the place a feel of the 50s and 60s of America The starters all look tempting but today I went for the mussels, fried Quinnies and yorkshire pudding with braised beef and sweet onions The fried Quinnies or mini scallops where super sweet, tender and cripsy batter smothered in creamy and tangy tartare sauce is a delight… The mussels were fresh and the broth were fragrant and had a natural sweetness to it, the yorkshire pud was a balance savoury and meaty beef, crispy and stringy puddings and sweet onions… The highlight of the dish is their steaks, at Hawksmoor they offer you various cuts of meat such as fillet, ribeye, sirloin, sirloin bone in, t-bone etc.. But today I had the Porterhouse Porterhou

Hawksmoor Air Street is sensational. The service was brilliant (and hunky), the staff are so helpful (we asked a lot of questions) and the food was prompt without feeling rushed. I did order a side of bone marrow which was forgotten (then put on the bill) but the staff were genuinely horrified and immediately removed it.

Hawksmoor is one of those places that we have been meaning to go to for ages, but never quite got round to it before. Windswept, cold and rosy cheeked, we were led upstairs to a warm dining room reminiscent of something off Mad Men - I had steak on my mind.

Every time we’ve eaten there, it’s been superb. Whether it be fantastic, succulent Chateaubriand, the flavour sensation of porterhouse or the great value rib-eye on their express menu; It’s all been nothing short of excellent. I’m delighted to say that our Sunday roast was no different. Rib-eye – Hawksmoor Express Menu Each of our previous visits had been to the Seven Dials branch, but his time we thought we’d try their newest restaurant on Air Street. We’d heard it was more light and airy (no pun intended) with large windows all down one side of the dining room, so it seemed the logical choice for lunch. We had guests too so I thought it might be handy to have a choice of seafood, as well as the meat feast options. The building is rather big and intimidating with an austere feel and a large stone stairwell.

As Hawksmoor are relatively new to the seafood side of things it’s been left in the hands of Mitch Tonks, most widely known as the owner of Fish Works restaurants. Among others Mitch also runs the Seahorse Restaurant in Dartmouth. It’ here that they focus on cooking their meat and fish over a charcoal grill, which is also Hawksmoors cooking technique, they couldn’t have picked a better chef having that skill in common.

Diners can expect a variety of British sourced fish such as turbot, monkfish and John Dory grilled simply over charcoal, as well as a large selection of shellfish.  Having visited on a number of occasions, however, it seems that Hawksmoor’s reputation for steak is still the biggest draw with most diners still opting for the impeccably sourced and cooked meaty mains, particularly when accompanied with bone marrow gravy and triple cooked chips. We opted for the Tamworth Belly Ribs (£10) it came with pickled red cabbage which complemented the dish very well; succulent tender meat with crispy slight acidic cabbage. Brixham crab on toast with mayonnaise (£10) was very good, rich crab meat slathered on top of toast is delicious! I can’t be certain the crab will always be this rich, or whether because it’s crab season so it’s doubly rich and yummy.

When a restaurant's described as the best steak place in town, it'd be rude not to try it out, right? Hawksmoor's been on the scene for a couple of years now with five restaurants across the city and one in Manchester about to open but I still hadn't found the time to go. Until last week.

After a killer start to the evening at Aqua Kyoto and Cats, we hoped that Hawksmoor would live up the hype. Skipping down Regent Street for a 10.30 table at the Air Street outpost, we had high hopes - and boy, were they met. The hosts and hostesses in the marble stairs ushered us in, sweeping us up the stairs and into the deeply seductive restaurant that's all dark wood, green leather and stained glass, towards our own little booth. So far, so good.

Onto the food. We'd spend the last couple of days gleefully emailing possible choices and they didn't disappoint. After a last minute addition of salmon tartare crisps - thins topped with the chunkiest, smoothest salmon perfectly seasoned with dill - we dived into the potted beef and bacon with yorkshires. Two huge and puffy puddings were ideal for scooping up the smooth meat and topping with the bacon and gravy, and we passed forks back and forth across the table hungrily. I opted for the Brixham crab on toast - a generous portion of white meat with the smoother brown hiding beneath, it was light enough to counter S's beef but so flavourful I ate every last scrap.

Next up were steaks. Naturally. S went for the fillet which was expertly served rare-medium whilst I had the steak tartare - it only comes as a starter portion and I didn't think to order two as a main but the portion size was just right in the end. Many wordless minutes were spent as we savoured the brilliantly seasoned dishes (mine, of course, had a perfect egg yolk on top and S's steak lived up to its reputation as the best steak in London, of course, ) - and then greedily spooned the truffled macaroni cheese onto our plates. We ordered the triple cooked chips too but the best side had to be the creamed spinach - a dense pot crammed with creamy, nutmeg laced leaves that we've both been dreaming of ever since. The stilton hollandaise deserves a mention as well - a rich, tangy sauce that saw frequent dunks from chips and steaks alike.

At this point, two bottles of wine down, we were completely defeated but couldn't resist the Salted Caramel Rolos to take away; these homemade chocolates come served in a beautiful box and were achingly naughty, keeping us going all weekend.

Hawksmoor really does pull out all the stops. From the buzzy atmosphere and the fantastically friendly and attentive staff to the impeccable food, this is one place I'm glad I've finally made it to. Definitely a five out of five - all that's left is to try the others, just to make sure, of course.

Two words: Bone Marrow! My God! This was the best bone marrow I've ever had. Honestly, I didn't even know it was a menu item until I saw it here. Each bone must have been a foot long! But let me back up. If you like steaks - you have to visit Hawksmoor. I had the rib eye. What a piece of meat! Side order of fried eggs and bone marrow. Mandira bad a side of lobster mac and cheese! Then there was a side order of spinach. Oh my God - it was amazing. I was actually going to share the porterhouse, but I can't say no to rib-eye. Next time though, I'm definitely going to try the porterhouse.

Dab as one of Londoners favourite steakhouse, Hawksmoor is a huge successful group. The Air Street branch is a little hidden by street view, just remember to turn the corner near Whittard teashop.

Even in November Hawksmoor seem to be popular, with table bookings mostly full for the evening, we had no choice but to dine around 4pm. Lucky for us, it meant we good take advantage of the express menu for a 3 course menu for £27.

For mains, many of us went for the rib-eye steak, plus a side, any sauces are an extra £3. The rib eye was a great size 250g, cooked exactly how I wanted it, medium rare with juicy pink inside. Browned on the outside, still moist inside, the cut had great flavours, but lacked something. Triple cooked chips was fantastic, glowing yellow colour with the right amount of crisp on the outside, biting into fluffy potatoes.

Although I was a bit disappointed, with the steak, the fish and chips were superb. They somehow ran out of fish fingers, and the waiter ran off to the chef to custom cook turbot fingers for the little girl in our party. I had to confess the turbot fish were mind blowing, ultra fresh fish with a super light crispy batter.

I've been to Hawksmoor many times before. After a bit of a break, a friend booked a table at the Air Street branch for dinner.

This recent visit, was amazing, and one of the best meals I've had in recent memory, in big part down to the amazing waiter who served us.

We ordered cocktails and a bottle of wine to start. However he suggested a different cocktail as the one I ordered was apparently much too filling and we'd have been unable to eat our steaks.

He intuitively offered bread to a friend to dip in her mussel sauce.

Not to mention my brixham crab on toast was mouth watering, with crab so fresh and the perfect amount of cream. My rib eye was also perfectly cooked.

When my friend couldn't finish her steak, he packed it for her even though she didn't ask.

At the end of the meal, the waiter brought us that cocktail I first ordered.. But on the house! Mind blown! You don't even always get such service at Michelin starred restaurants

This well-known steakhouse has always been the talk of my office and a place where everyone loves to take their clients out for dinner. I was somewhat jealous of all this chitta chatta and dying to see what all the fuss was really about.

My first impression of the restaurant was how big it was - very deceiving off the street. The decor was particularly 'manly' with dark wooden booths and deep green cushions spread evenly across the floor of the restaurant. Of course every table was full - mostly men in suits wining and dining some clients I assume. We ordered a bottle of the Rossa Braida Barbera - Merlot/Cab Sav 2009 to start the night with.

I was extremely hungry and ready to embark on a feast - even if that meant having to be rolled out at the end of the night. I knew a good balance with the steak would be to order some seafood first and seeing as I am a huge scallop fan, I went straight for the roasted scallop with white port and garlic followed by some Salmon tartare crisps which I was intrigued to find out what this was going to taste like.

The verdict -

Scallops - to die for! Call me bias but these were a decent size and matched perfectly with the strong and pungent taste of the garlic. I seriously could have had this as a main meal.

The crisps were interesting. Not something I would order again but had some fairly good combinations of flavours going on.

It had been a while since I had ordered a good quality steak from a restaurant so I asked to recommend the best size to go for without looking like a greedy guts. He suggested the fillet 250g which once it came out with the extra sides, it was more than enough for me. To all the men out there, I think your safe bet would be to go for the 300 - 400g. For the sides we had some mouth watering sweet baked potato which was absolutely delicious, baby spinach with garlic (yes more garlic!) and Bone Marrow. Now I wouldn't have normally ordered this however I was strongly advised by a friend that you can not go to Hawksmoor without trying it. Rather fatty (96% so be warned), with a salty taste it did remind me of the fat off a lamb chop but with a mushy texture. The steak, well I don't know if it's the fact that I don't eat it that often but my lord it was damn good. Cooked at medium rare (as all steaks should be cooked) so tender and succulent with a dash of béarnaise sauce to finish it off nicely.

By this point I really couldn't fit much more in but I knew I would regret finishing the evening without some dessert. To my delight most of the items on the menu were influenced by my obsession at the moment - salted caramel. The waiter recommended we go for the Peanut butter shortbread with salted caramel ice-cream which we made the informed decision to share. Although extremely rich, I was not disappointed. Filled with a chocolate centre and a distinctive peanut taste it was moorish to say that least.

Very impressed and satisfied about the dining experience this restaurant has to offer. The staff were friendly including our waiter who was patient enough with the photo taking responsibilities. Its location, in the heart of Piccadilly Circus, its easy enough to get to and from the station and might I add the quick stroll to work off the food coma (which I dare say you will have after leaving this fantastic place).

The restaurant certainly should be complimented for its food and service which is both commendable.
We tried fish, steak and lobster which were all delectable. The portions were generous and the prices were reasonable. The service was also prompt. It is the too loud music in the background which is a little annoying.

We came to this place after reserving early for a weekend night, before proceeding to the movies. Both of us had lovely appetizers, and also had the main course of steak from their express menu. I highly recommend this place, and suggest that everyone should try it at least once. The waiters who were waiting upon us were very nice, too and they were chatty and friendly, and they let us eat at a relaxed pace.

This places much heard about and quite popular. We finally visited this one to decide if the place is worth all the hype around it. Gladly, it did live up to our expectations. We ordered scallops which were delicious, sherry trifle was mindblowing and mouthwatering. Along with champagne and cocktails this place is so perfect!

I came to this place on my birthday on the insistence o my wide. Sadly, I was quite sick on that particular day, but the staff all went out of their way to make it a nice and memorable evening for me. I really enjoyed their steak. It was mouth-watering delicious, and everything else was superb as well. The setting is also very nice and thoughtful.

We were here for my son's birthday last week, and this place was chosen by him. I have to say, what a good choice he made. We were welcomed nicely and were seated as soon as we got there. The staff seemed extremely lovely and had a smile on their faces almost all the time. All the dishes that we ordered were freshly prepared and each of them tasted delicious. I loved the choice that my son made and would love to visit this place again.

This place serves excellent steaks with delicious, finger licking mouth savoring sides. The triple cooked chips are a revelation. The service is prompt. The ambiance is friendly and lively with modern decor. The place is ideal for meat lovers and calorie careless people. The menu is not elaborate but everything does taste good.

In my opinion, this place might be the meat lover's paradise. The meat here is treated with reverence and prepared in a wonderful fashion.Admittedly i am not quite a fan of the traditional preparation by my mind was changed here for good. This dish is very popular here and the impeccable taste speaks for itself. However, i must say that this place is strictly not for the vegetarians who might not find anything worth having here at all.

This was for the first time that I went to Hawksmoor. It happened to be one of the best experiences i have had by far. Honestly, I loved every second of being there. The food was brilliant. The staff and their service was something I would really appreciate. The only constraint is the money. I feel the pricing is not really. If you have enough punds in your pocket and you can affor a little expensive place then this place is a must visit.

I had the pleasure of stumbling upon Hawksmoor and could not be more delighted with my experience there.

The restaurant interior is just awe-inspiring and the location is perfect for an anniversary dinner or a similar occasion.

The food and service are flawless. We were lucky enough to be in time to order the Express Menu (served from 12-6:30pm) and ordered the Potted Beef with Bacon & Yorkshires for our starter, followed by the Rib-eye with Triple Cooked Chips for our main. Everything was delicious: it was perfection.

I cannot recommend the Express Menu enough to those who want an indulgent Hawksmoor meal without the super indulgent price tag!

An enormous, art deco location..the upper floor feels endless. Great cocktails - had the Hawksmoor collins. Excellent, friendly, attentive staff, and a super casual dining experience. I like the mix of seafood and steaks...queenies were delicious, as was the shrimp on toast, and the incomparable lobster mac and cheese with a lovely little lobster bisque on the side to strengthen the flavour. Fillet steak was perfection, as expected. You must get the salted caramel rolos to finish, I had mine with an Irish coffee and it was incredible. A well priced wine selection, decent variety, though would have loved to see more medium-ranged pinot noir on there. Overall, an excellent meal, at an insane price, but the experience is flawless. A 1/2 point off for price absurdity

Had the pleasure of dining here for Sunday lunch. The majority of the group opted for the signature roast beef. The portion size was large and the meat rare(just how I like it). The roast potato's I found to be rather dry and the veg nice, but nothing that blows you away. The service was exceptional and the staff professional and helpful. The wine was lovely as was the atmosphere and decor. In all honesty it was a decent Sunday roast, but still has nothing on my moms roasts!

Hawksmoore has the most succulent, melt in the mouth meat I've had in London. The ambience is great, the waiters are friendly and accommodating. The assortment of starters are as high quality as their steaks, it's hard not to over order because of the choices. Add some wine to your meat and you're in heaven. A little on the expensive side, but why not.

Vegetarians, turn aside. This isn’t a place for you. This is a place for some serious meat eating. It’s a cold blustery Sunday & we’re here for a Sunday roast.

I must admit, I’ve never really warmed to the traditional roast that, come Sunday, seems to be on the much wished for list of so many around me. But nevertheless, I’m usually impressed with whatever the Hawksmoor stumps up and so off we go.

I kick things off with a Bloody Mary – it’s spicy, it’s zingy and they’ve even brought me some Tabasco in case it needs livening up further.

But let’s talk about the main reason we’re here. We’ve been warned not to muddy the waters by ordering starters or sides and so we go straight for the main event of the day – the Sunday Roast. It’s a large slab of meat, cooked medium-rare, spinach, Yorkshire pudding, Roast potatoes, a whole bulb of roast garlic, spinach and carrots. Oh and a tureen of gravy.

The meat is beautifully cooked, tender and melt in the mouth. But its the sides that steal the show (Which in itself is surprising, I’m very much a carnivore girl!). My favourite is the whole bulb of garlic – I decline the offers of mustards and instead use my soft pungent sweet garlic as a spread to spear my meat with. The roast potatoes were the perfect combo of crunch and fluff and the spinach and carrots made me feel terribly virtuous. I’m ambivalent on the Yorkshire pudding & husband whisks it away from me before I can say any more.

Despite my voluminous plate, I still manage to wipe it clean and it is only then that I’m able to look around and appraise my surroundings. It’s a simple restaurant that follows a Hawksmoor formula – wood panelling, leather banquettes and glistening glassware.

Today we’re in Air Street and I’m told it’s only this particular branch that has a healthy dedicated seafood section – so if you’re not in the mood for a steak, this should be the branch for you.

Hawksmoor always delivers.

There’s something about the combination of summer in London and steak which makes perfect sense. And like the all-too-brief summers in this city, steaks need to be made the most of – to be ‘done’ properly. As my housemate says;

”Go big or go home”.

London is more than a little saturated with premium steakhouses, such places where the cuts of meat are luxuriously lost in theatrics, foodisms and odd cuts of the jib that somehow justify three-figure bills for various pieces of cow. Competing with the likes of Goodman (with their special oven and awesome chips), Gaucho (with the dubious decor and slabs of raw steak on slabs of wood, to whet the appetite), and the JW Steakhouse (cheesecake and tomahawk, natch), is Hawksmoor.

Hawksmoor’s ‘thing’ is British food and cocktails. The four restaurants (Air Street and Seven Dials in the West End, Guildhall and Spitalfields further east) have a refreshingly simple take on good British cooking – the menu being a single side of A4 that covers very nationalistic starters such as shrimps, asparagus or lobster, onto seafood and steak (the former being an Air Street specialty) and into the all-important side orders, all in efficient minimalism. The only padding to proceedings comes in the form of place names, educating the eater that, for example, ribs can come from this side of the pond. Tamworth, to be precise. You learn something new every day!

The cocktail list, whilst as classy and mouthwatering as the dinner menu, regresses into more familiar gastronomic waffle of such Titanic proportions that it makes my blog look concise. In a nutshell, it is laid out to take the determined drinker (and judging by the prices, one with deep pockets too) on a journey of intoxication from noon (Anti-Fogmatics) to night (Pre to Post-Prandial), following something called a Toper’s Timetable (Toper being a lesser-used word for drinker, or, apparently, ‘toss-pot’ as well. The timetable has been included below – drink this in.

A few points on the Timetable. Firstly, there are some great words here (‘Big Reposer’ being a personal fave) and secondly, maybe we are getting our leisure time all wrong. How about on a Saturday, the work-hard-play-hard crowd start off at 6am and stop at midnight? In nightclubs any later than that, I only drink water anyway. The toss-pots had the right idea!

We left the cocktails to the end of the meal. I am ashamed to say that I neglected to even look at the menu, simply asking if the bartender could knock up an Espresso-Martini, which in the end, turned out to be the best god-damn E.M. I have ever had (it was made with a snazzy-sounding mezcal-based coffee liqueur). A Piña-colada was damn fine too, a balance between a deep and smooth richness of rum and fruit, with the swagger of Del Boy banana leaves and a wedge of pineapple the size of a pizza-slice.

During the meal, we went for a New Zealand Sauvignon-Blanc (yes, we were in a steakhouse but we were feeling a bit too summery for red). The wine list at Hawksmoor is, to quote Top Gun, “long and distinguished”, with bottles selling for as little as £nineteen to as much as £seven-hundred. Hawksmoor choose to ‘ghost-serve’ wine, the bottle being kept off your table in case -shudder- you should actually try to pour it yourself. The attentiveness of the service staff meant that we were never running dry.

I have been putting off telling you about the food. This is because, quite simply, I have little to say apart from that everything was perfect. A stroll along the South Bank had plunged us into ‘negative calories’ (probably) so we went big.

A starter of potted beef and bacon with Yorkshires was no-frills farm cooking at its very best – the two home-made puddings towering menacingly over one of those click-and-seal jars containing shredded beef smeared in wonderful dripping. It was like a brave new world of pâté, especially when accompanied with its rich onion sauce.

The steaks – described on Hawksmoor’s website as “dictionary-thick”, are laid out like any other steakhouse of comparative quality around town. We debated over porterhouse, bone-in sirloin, Chateaubriand (all British Beef, duh) before settling for a couple of 300g filets. Adding to that feeling of effortless quality, the beef was so tender I cannot even remember chewing it (but that could have been the side-effects of an afternoon of Pimms and G&Ts), but it tasted so rich it could have been steak concentrate.

The sides were good too, though never in any danger of overpowering the star attraction. Creamed spinach was plentiful and rich, and the beef-dripping fries were certainly a cut above regular ‘thin’ chips, but way upstaged by stogy old mac & cheese which was of just the right strength to carry along fine filet. The peppercorn sauce is categorised by myself as ‘unf**kupable’, i.e. no matter how bad one gets it, it is still awesome. Hawksmoor’s peppercorn sauce was somehow better than all that have gone before it- thick, creamy and as strong as an ox. Calories replete, we had no room for desserts, though I have been told they’re an event in themselves.

Hawksmoor is not just a great place to eat, it is a great place to be as well. Air Street is occupies a long space on the first floor of a building on the apex of the Regent Street ‘swoosh’, decked out with deep woods and brown and green banquettes that give a certain English edge to steakhouse decor. It all felt very thirties and ultra-glam. Service was superb, again, effortless in its execution. The cheerful servers, full of compliments, were there when needed but very far away when not. When the time came for us to be ushered into the bar (these places never stop), I swear the waiter was very near tears.

Hawksmoor is place that I never wanted to leave, any self-respecting food lover needs to go to and everyone will want to revisit. Expect to pay top-dollar, but it ‘s value for for money at every stage of the experience. It is also indicative of everything which is great about London’s restaurant scene at the moment – which, let’s face it, is a lot. As Jay Rayner said in his review of Air Street;

“Nowhere else in Britain could support a restaurant of this quality”

How to sum the place up? Well let’s use the Toper’s Timetable. We left Hawksmoor at about 10pm. And this makes the meal, the evening – and this lovely British summer’s day in general…

…a ‘Sparkler’.

I always here about the steaks at Hawksmoor even before coming to London.. Finally after many attempts to eat here, I was finally able to… I had high expectations and wow the food went even beyond my expectations!

Hawksmoor service is as good as the food and the art decor of the interior gave the place a feel of the 50s and 60s of America

The starters all look tempting but today I went for the mussels, fried Quinnies and yorkshire pudding with braised beef and sweet onions

The fried Quinnies or mini scallops where super sweet, tender and cripsy batter smothered in creamy and tangy tartare sauce is a delight… The mussels were fresh and the broth were fragrant and had a natural sweetness to it, the yorkshire pud was a balance savoury and meaty beef, crispy and stringy puddings and sweet onions…

The highlight of the dish is their steaks, at Hawksmoor they offer you various cuts of meat such as fillet, ribeye, sirloin, sirloin bone in, t-bone etc.. But today I had the Porterhouse

Porterhouse cut comes with a larger size fillet than the T-bone..

The meat was juicy, tender, meaty, fragrant, peppery yet sweet… Best steak by far! And cooked at a perfect medium rare! Where some steakhouses couldn’t deliver

The sides… Go for the lobster mac n cheese that comes with lobster bisque.. Elegantly indulgent.. Jannson’s temptation is their take on potato gratin is creamy, soft and crunchy crumble on top.. The side salad adds the tangy, fresh taste to the palate the best lighten all these heavy dishes…

Oh and don’t forget to order their peppercorn sauce and bone marrow gravy… Best compliments their already well cooked piece of meat!

Final verdict, if you are a big fan of meat, come here and you’ll leave with a smile on your face and a happy stomach!

The question I ask is do we really need any more steak restaurants in London? I'm not entirely sure, and neither is Hawksmoor by the looks of it. The new Air Street restaurant is serving an equal choice of both meat and fish. And not any old fish, but meaty varieties caught from the shores of the UK and sourced from renowned Brixham Market in Devon. Their meat sourced from the famous Ginger Pig butchers, my favourite butchers in London.

The interior of Hawksmoor is very Art Deco but still retaining its gentlemen’s club feel, much similar to Guildhall, thought it’s much roomier and airy here, you’re also able to see your food without the use of a candle which is nice.

In true Hawksmoor style we started with a cocktail, Shipwreck Sour, comprised of cognac, ginger wine, lemon and egg whites. A difficult drink to mix and get the balance right but Hawksmoor pulled it off with no problems. I'm starting to think they could become my favourite place to drink, very few places match up. I had this same drink in a now closed down bar on the King's Road and it was awful. As a nibble we had a small side of pickled cockles, which were pickled perfectly and just how I remember them as a child.

For starters we had fried Queenies with tartar sauce. They somehow managed to not overcook the scallops while still getting the batter nice and crunchy. I found they were a bit too generous on the salt, and I normally go crazy on the stuff, especially if Maldon is at hand. The tartar sauce had a good kick and was well made.

It's said that there's not such a thing as a free meal, and I can probably add that there's not such a thing as a cheap steak. But if you are are willing to invest into your beef, the Hawksmoor is probably the place to go.

The new Air Street branch is much larger than their other venues, very central (just off Regent Street), and definitely glamorous in its decor. Both the bar area and the main dining room sport polished wood, shiny brass and decorated windows, with a pleasant retro touch, though the place can sometimes feel a bit too big.

Anyway, coming to the food, the big surprise is that they serve fish and seafood as well as meat. Some of the fish looked quite appealing, but having come all the way there for the beef it would have been a distraction. I have been tempted by a lobster cocktail as a starter but, to be honest, for £17 I was expecting something more than three chunks of lobster sunk in a pink sauce. My fellow diners had more luck with the pork belly ribs, which were deliciously meaty.

Getting to the main event, I tried both the porterhouse and the 55-days aged D rump. Both were just delicious, cooked to the point and full of flavor. I could spend lines and lines describing their succulent taste, but if you have ever had really good beef you'll know what I am talking about. If not, go and get it!

Sides were nice and the dessert surprisingly good, especially their own jaffa cake, but that's not the reason you'd go there. The meat does lives up to the expectations, but be ready to pay its fair price.

Hawksmoor have really put Steakhouses in London back on the map. Their success with there 3 other enterprises have justified this huge new restaurant in air street that spans most of the Reagent's Street, knowing that they are going to have no problems filling it. This really is in the heart of tourist London, but like the Seven Dials restaurant, despite location, the entrance is subtle with heavy doors. Only those steak worthy may enter. Unlike the other Hawksmoors, they've tried to split this between steak and fish, having teamed up with Mitch Tonks of the Seahorse. The ultimate surf 'n' turf?
The tamworth belly ribs really make you go week at the knees, so succulent and juicy, perfectly balanced with the pickled cabbage. Now for the main we shared a porterhouse. Hawksmoor never dissapoints me in this regard, perfectly cooked, sublime taste experience. From what I've experienced this is the best steak I've had not just in London but anywhere . The fact Hawksmoor keeps it's strong principles of having sustainable British produce make it all the better.
While it is dangerously expensive to eat here, £36 for large monkfish, or £64 for 800g Porterhouse, before you've even put anything else on your plate, it is still worth the empty feeling in your wallet. Just dip into that rainy day jar, cause it's raining and you deserve some steak! Fear not though, their roast dinner of D-rump at under £20 including all the trimmings is tremendous value.

Always great at Hawksmoor, a birthday tradition of ours. This branch in particular has great atmosphere and lovely decor. Had the fish for the first time and was not disappointed, the sea bass was very well seasoned and perfectly cooked, great if you don't feel like having meat every time. The beef fillet was beautiful but it was served very salty, so we sent it back which they accommodated graciously and brought a new dish, perfectly seasoned. They also replaced all the sides (even though we had already eaten them!). The only small issue was the pears in the cheesecake dessert were under-ripe, to the point of tasteless, it's a beautiful dish, probably better not to put the fruit on if it's not ripe. Highly recommend: the scallop starter, fillet/rump steaks and the creamed spinach!

Best Birthday Meal ever 14/08/2023 I spoke to several staff about this restaurant and my family member nut and milk allergies but I was told they would ensure that there won’t be no cross contamination with the food and my family member would be fine. I spend several days speaking to the manager Angelo who promised me that my family would be fine. However, after reading a few reviews I was very concerned about the main dishes customers stated that the restaurant did not have the steak they wanted and they left. I rang again and asked for the manager Angelo who promised me the it would be ok on the night and he will be in the restaurant to serve me and family. Angelo the manager asked what steak we wanted and he stated that it is a steak restaurant and they have plenty. We had fantastic service from Angelo and he ensured that my family member had no allergic reaction to the food. The other staff were fantastic ten out of ten. I only wish I could have my birthday meal again and the kind hospitality from Angelo the manager. Steak and lobster were absolutely delicious. Well after reading some of the reviews I decided to dine here.

Our waiter Peter was an amazing host in helping us decide what food to try and drink to have. The food was nice but slightly over priced and for some reason me and my partner ended up drowning in the noise of drunk business men shouting at each other for the whole time we was there so it kind of ruined the experience. Other then that I'd say give it a go we probably went on a off day.

No messing around with this place. Friday night. Nothing too fancy. Just great quality food. (Mainly steak) Ribeye at 400 grams and chateau briand at 300grams. With some must have triple fried chips and beef dripping chips. Bernaise and peppercorn were the sauces of the day which all go well. All cooked and seasoned to perfection. Having been to most of the steak houses in London over the years this is always reliable and never dissapoints(4th time) Of course at just under 50 quid a steak it is  pretty much the standard cost of what you have to pay nowadays for a decent eat out steak. But worth it. However the biggest surprise were the desserts.... ooh ahh. Peanut butter warm shortbread and Sticky toffee pudding sundae were two of the best sweets ive had probably this year eating out anywhere. Really unexpected. If service is exceptional then this always has to be mentioned. Thanks to Vanessa our star waitress of the night who made it the most welcoming and warmest service with a smile even though the place was so busy as she ran manically around to all the other tables. She was the best and the nicest person.  Hawksmoor please give this gem a promotion or keep a hold of her somehow as she is the benchmark standard of great service! We will be back again for sure because of her... oh and the food of course!

Walked past on my own one Saturday night, the restaurant was full, but they had room for me in the bar. Three oysters, a chateaubriand, one glass of wine, some chips and some creamed spinach. Amazing potted Beef and Yorkshire puddings. The steak was good, although you do pay for it. Chips were average and very similar to every restaurant I've ever been to that uses McCain. They didn't live up to the 'Beef dripping fries' that I expected. I would go again, just not entirely sure about the value for money.

Excellent Sunday Roast and Decadent Ambiance at Hawksmoor Air Street I recently had the pleasure of experiencing an excellent Sunday lunch at Hawksmoor in Air Street, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. From start to finish, the entire dining experience left me in awe. Upon entering the restaurant, I was greeted by the grandeur of its spacious interior. The mix of lighting and natural light, coupled with leather chairs and wooden tables, created an atmosphere that was both elegant and inviting. Hawksmoor exuded a sense of decadence, setting the stage for a truly remarkable meal. The service at Hawksmoor was truly exceptional. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, striking the perfect balance between attentiveness and allowing us to enjoy our meal without feeling rushed. Now, let's talk about the highlight of the experience—the food. Hawksmoor's Sunday roast is nothing short of a culinary masterpiece. We indulged in the classic British dish, and it exceeded all expectations. The presentation of each dish was impeccable, showcasing the attention to detail that Hawksmoor is known for. I savored every bite of the succulent Sunday roast, accompanied by the delectable celeriac and sausage mash. The flavors were perfectly balanced, resulting in a meal that was simultaneously clean and rich. It was the kind of meal that left me contented and longing for a cozy nap afterward. To conclude the meal, we treated ourselves to coffee and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The dessert was a delightful combination of sweetness and warmth, providing the perfect ending to a memorable dining experience. Considering the exceptional quality of the food, the prices at Hawksmoor are fair, especially considering its central London location. The restaurant's commitment to sourcing excellent cuts of meat was evident in every bite. In summary, Hawksmoor in Air Street is a must-visit restaurant in London. Whether you're a local or a visitor, the food (& Bloody Marys) and the decadent ambiance make it a must visit. I wholeheartedly recommend Hawksmoor to anyone seeking a remarkable dining experience. Just be prepared for a delightful food-induced nap afterward.

Always a great place for a Sunday Roast when you can book a table. Love the potted beef and bacon with bone marrow gravy and Yorkshire puddings. Stupidly tasty and filling. The roast itself, perfect beef, super crispy potatoes and again, another perfect Yorkie and great gravy. Bit loud in this particular restaurant, but doesn't detract from the food. And the service is great as always.

When it comes to London steakhouses, Hawksmoor's legend precedes it. My fiance and I stopped by for lunch and we left thoroughly impressed, by both the food and service. She ordered scampi to start while I had the old spot ribs. Both were perfectly portioned, expertly executed dishes that exceeded the brief in whetting our appetites for our entrees. When those arrived, I was immediately overcome with jealousy, because while my rib eye (with a side of grilled bone marrow) was top tier, her Steak & Bone Marrow Pie was literally out of this world. Rich, hearty comfort eating - an immaculately seasoned filling, a slightly peppery crust and the bone marrow elevates it to something otherworldly. Honestly, if I had to recommend a must-eat dish to anyone visiting London, this would be it. Absolutely sensational. Yes, Hawksmoor isn't cheap but if you can afford it, GO! You will not be disappointed.

Really nice environment, does get a little loud. It's a premium steak house so don't be shocked by the prices.

Food? Absolutely✅ Service? Meh🫤 we had a good experience having Sunday Roast, but the service was very poor starting downstairs reception, then 1st floor reception and the table service. Room for improvement⁉️
