A London outpost for the popular Parisian restaurant, it was time to try Frenchie Covent Garden. The interior is très chic and feels effortlessly stylish as soon as you walk in. Metallic accents with pale tones – it was all on point. Being a Friday night, we started with some cocktails and I cannot recommend the French Riviera option enough… light, refreshing and not too sweet – my perfect combination when it comes to cocktails. The wine list was typical of most French restaurants – extensive! Don’t you worry though, the expert sommelier was at hand to give us the advice we so desperately needed!

What else can I say.. this place went above my expectations.

We took the tasting menu paired with some prosecco.

I never tried before a smoked salmon cooked in that way. It was exceptional.

Strongly recommended

It was a great experience! Since they have a set menu and I didn't have many options to pick from, I ended up ordering dishes I would not have ordered if it was otherwise. I had their grilled octopus which was my first octopus dish and it was AMAZING! nothing like what I had imagined! The second dish I had was Pork Belly. Again, I haven't been really fond of Pork Belly until I had this one which was cooked perfectly!

The Jellied Smoked Eel, which, set in a gelatin broth, was a delightful interpretation of a winter English garden with its combination of colourful root vegetables. The classic Maine lobster roll also followed a French interpretation with the succulent lobster lathered in a creamy beurre blanc sauce and wedged inside a piece of pillowy brioche toast – incredibly decadent..

It's a nice restaurant. Nicely presented dishes and tasty. But bit too salty. If they are less salty the dishes would have tasted even better. Friendly staff. Will come back in the hope of adjusted saltiness.

Loved every dish I had today. We ordered all 4 snacks and 3 starters to share in a tapas style. The highlight is the bacon scone. It's absolutely delicious. I could have another one if my friend didn't stop me. The pig head was good as well. The foie gras went really well with bread. The squid was similar to what I had at restaurant story. If you've never been there, then this would be a very innovative dish. I liked the banoffee as desert. The frozen banana in the middle goes perfect with the cream outside. Also, the cocktails we ordered were delicious. I'll come back for sure to try another seasons menu.

My husband and I went to Frenchie with another couple for midweek dinner. The restaurant is a lovely cozy place. The staff were all very knowledgeable about the food and helpful in picking beautiful white wine (- a sav blanc). Between us, we tried each of the snack dishes available. The bacon scones and crispy pig head really stood out but all of the snacks were perfection. I had the grilled octopus as a first course which was delicious and the pork in salt crust as a main which was very favorful. My dessert was the nutty and buttery mimolette cheese. All in all we had a great experience and enjoyed the food immensely!

Frenchie is the Covent Garden outpost of the popular Parisian restaurant of the same name, with owner Gregory Marchand, who has worked in some of the top kitchens around the world, taking all of these influences to create some very tasty and inspiring food.

Lunch at Frenchie was delicious!
Let's start from the restaurant itself which is small but really welcoming and well thought of; by the way, loved the loos!
The service is good but a bit "detached", a bit pretentious.
With the exception of the dessert, the food was very good. I enjoyed both the hanger steak and the cod with coco beans. I didn't eat the bacon scones but my friends did and enjoyed them; same for the lobster roll.
The desserts were disappointing. The banana ice cream was so salty that it was inedible and surely didn't go well with the rest of the dish. The desserts were unimaginative and substandard.
Prices are steep but, if you can afford it, than is a good place to try.

Came here after extremely high recommendation from a food blogger. Dishes were mostly good and the table next to us too were raving about all the dishes that they had. Tables were very close to each other.. so no effort needed to know what they were saying. Note: portion size are quite small. So, very good for sharing and tasting a number of things on the menu.

We ordered the following:
Starters:
1. Bread & Butter: definitely one of the best bread that I have ever tasted.
2. Bacon scones: never thought of bacon in a scone but saltiness in a very flaky scone - delicious. Would recommend it.
3. Cornish crab: presentation and taste was good. Portion size - just one pop into your mouth

Mains:
1. Braised pig head: dish is quite rich and we found it a bit salty
2. Mulard Duck: loved this dish - was cook to perfection and with the peanuts, had some Asian influence / taste to the dish.

Last week, impulsively and recklessly and almost certainly against medical advice, I had two quite different (and not insubstantial) French meals in the space of a single day. The evening dinner was at Club Gascon in Smithfield market, and I'm afraid was not my kind of thing at all - a fussy and emotionless series of provincial Michelin-baiting French dishes, authentic insofar as the last time I ate in a Michelin-starred provincial French restaurant it was every bit as fussy and emotionless and this, but still not an experience I enjoyed. I won't go into too many details, but briefly though the house bread and a couple of the seafood courses were fine, a pile of weak tomato mush balanced on a complely impractically-designed silver spoon does not make for a particularly inspiring start to a meal, and dessert of apricots and almond ice cream came scattered with garden peas. No, I don't know why either. Pictures are here if you want to see for yourself.

One of the best lamb dishes I have had in a while. Their dessert was absolutely amazing I had a bitter chocolate tart and also the cheesecake.

Lunch is a lot different to its dinner menu, with only a set menu on offer with 3 courses to choose from starters, mains and desserts. Price is a lot more affordable with 2 courses costing £22

Frenchie Covent Garden is not an easy reservation to get. I usually roll my eyes at restaurants with months long waiting lists because by and far my experience has been that they are over hyped. But, when the hub’s French boss said Frenchie was great, I called them up and put my name down for a random Tuesday in April.

First things first, my cocktail was probably one of the best I have ever had. And I have had A LOT of cocktails in my life. I ordered it because it was vodka based and called Once Upon a Time No 2. It was sweet, smoky and just plain old delicious.

Frenchie is one of the new openings in Covent Garden which is quickly turning into a new hub for good restaurants (GO TO DUENDE!!!) There is an upstairs dining room with bar seating and tables available. There is also more seating available downstairs. The downstairs dining room seems a bit plain Jane compared to what is a really well put together and aesthetically appealing upstairs.

Bacon scones (8/10) - I ordered two of these for myself after my first bite. Something about the combination of maple and bacon makes me go crazy and it was omnipresent throughout the scone. The scone itself was well made with a delightfully crisp exterior.

Radish Salad (6/10) - Maybe I just don't get it, but the combination of radish with a really buttery or creamy sauce doesn't really do it for me. This was however a well made adaptation of a popular combination.

Arctic Char tartar (8/10) - Fish was well cut and of good quality. The chive cream that topped it was plentiful and really assertive.

Foie gras and rhubarb (8/10) - Pristine pate with appropriate touches of pickle and rhubarb.

Duck pastilla (5/10) - The duck inside was dry and there was not much of it. The accompaniments of cheese and raisins were tasty enough, but couldn't make up for the shortcoming of the duck. The pastry was really well made though.

Lamb ragu pappardelle (5/10) The lamb ragu was really good, the pasta was cooked perfectly, but the sauce was either broken or just excessively greasy.

Gnocchi with pinenuts, cream sauce, morels (9/10) - Awesome, awesome gnocchi. A bit doughy, chewy, and perfectly cooked. The accompaniments all made sense and the dish was incredibly balanced despite being really decadent.

Guineal fowl and asparagus (10/10) Most well cooked guinea fowl I've ever had. The hollondaise and asparagus is a combination that's often seen, but this hollandaise was exceptionally rich with the addition of the assertively salty pork product. Would not change a thing about this dish.

Will definitely come back to Frenchie as the standard of cooking is very high and they're offering some things that I just haven't seen elsewhere.

Frenchie is probably one of the most talked about new openings in London, as the original outpost in Paris is always on all the must eat Paris lists. I had never been to the one in Paris and had mixed feelings about trying the one in London after my disastrous experience at Le Chateaubriand in Paris, and the fact that Le Chabanais closed in London. The meal had some great dishes (papardelle) but the desserts were very disappointing. I am not rushing back but would certainly give it another try.

It was a pretty special meal, I was not expecting the cooking to be so accomplished already at such an early stage. Grégory Marchand's cooking style was very interesting

It’s not far from the truth that I nearly cried when I couldn’t get a booking at Gregory Marchand’s restaurant in Paris (no, not really, I decided the jaunt a week before I went and knew it probably wasn’t possible). I mean, it wasn’t as if I wasn’t spoilt in Paris, flitting between Le Cinq, Pirouette, Sauterne and Sola in one weekend, but Frenchie and Clamato were the 2 joints that I really wanted to hit up (oh and David Toutain– really I just needed to have planned in advance and gone for longer). Imagine my excitement when I found out that he is going to open a branch in London! And oh my (yes, a George Takei ‘Oh Myy!’), this was a slice of Parisian goodness in the heart of London. So awesome, that I made a reservation on the way out. Because, folks, the Parisians know their food, and there’s a reason why Frenchie is consistently touted as one of the best in Paris.

Loved this place. Gorgeous food - Parmesan ball nibbles were one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. Attentive service, classy decor. Good value lunch menu. Has aircon!

Frenchie in Paris is difficult to get a reservation, so I was very glad to be able to just walk in the Convent Garden branch for a mid week lunch. The food was pretty and yummy. The confit cod was probably one of the best cooked fish dish I've ever had.

My Ma and I had lunch here on a Saturday pre-theatre at midday. Weather was good so were instantly offered seating either in or outside. We opted for the latter. Excellent attention to detail as although it was bright there was still a wind so the team put heaters on and lifted the glass wind-breaks. All staff French - which I love - as miss that country. Attentive and excellent command of English. From the signature cocktail - Frenchmen in NY. Gin based… through to our oat cappuccinos, the food was first class! Although in the heart of a tourist area we could have been (well almost) in St Germain!

Very reliable place for a pre-theatre menu. Service is speedy yet warm. My friends lamb was excellent very succulent. Five stars. With all the inflation going on, the pre-fix menu only inflated £4 after 4 years. This place is a hidden gem.

I opted for the lunch special as I wanted a light lunch. The beetroot salad was delicious, and the pork belly had good crackling and excellent flavor. I was curious about their famous Bacon Scones so I ordered one and it did not disappoint, tho I wish the bacon bits were crispier. Nice place for lunch with friendly service.

Nice dining experience as the food is full of flavour. We’ve been to Frenchie twice and it’s always been a pleasant visit, the service is professional and they have a great selection of wines. The menu is changing a little with the season, for example the foie gras has every season a different twist. The second time we’ve been there I found everything a bit too sweet, but that might have been just me.. I would come again! ☺️👍

Was recommended by a friend, so we booked a week in advance for lunch. We tried their 3 course lunch menu for GBP34 each. We added drinks and also added a bacon scone as a nibble which we heard was a signature dish of their restuarant. The food was excellent. As there was a selection of 2 dishes for each or starter, main and dessert, we tried all their dishes between the 2 of us as we choose 1 of each. Nice clean toilet. Professional staff. Nice atmosphere. Price wise at the higher end for lunch, but was worth it. We paid about GBP95 in total for the 2 of us. Very good French restuarant. Highly recommend

Lovely place with great food. Even though the location is so touristic, this restaurant is definitely tranquil. The architectural design is quite good and the acoustics is very well. The music was ok, but the volume might have been very little up. The design & architecture is subtle and comforting. The stuff were not very attentive and smiling but may be its a french tradition. We have been served good though. We ordered tasting menu which was very delicious however we were confused by the three course of deserts. (Note the tasting menu has foie gras which you can and should change)

Went for their 3 course meal, with additional appetisers, and everything had a WOW factor!! Our waitress full described and helped us appreciate each ingredient of our meals, and we dined in a warm ambience. There was a slight hiccup with our fillet which was very unfortunate, however, we overlooked it through our exceptional experience.
