Small and personal with good choice of tasty dishes for group with Vegan, 2 meat eaters and a food snob!!
Atmospheric little bistro. Tried this out last night. Numidie specialises in French/North African cooking. Pretty room with large terracotta tiles, dark wood, turquoise walls and old chandeliers. One waitress very competently working the room which had about 10 tables. Snuggly bar downstairs with reportedly skilled and genial barman.
From the £12.50 set menu we had smoked fish bourek and duck with wasabi salad to start. The bourek was generous on the fish, the pastry was competent, but the sauce was a little sickly and the advertised 'pickles' consisted of two mini cornichons...the salad was pleasant enough, and plenty of duck, but no hint of wasabi whatsoever.
Mains were much more successful - truffled beef with pommes de terre dauphinoise (£2 supplement) and lamb shank with couscous. Both dishes were gorgeous and very deftly cooked. The beef was a generous and well trimmed portion, cooked as requested, the truffles coming through loud and clear. The lamb really did fall off the bone with a nudge of the fork, there was a lovely harissa-based sauce, and fluffy couscous studded with chickpeas and beans.
So, it wasn't brilliant, but gosh how refreshing to find a neighbourhood bistro that is friendly, welcoming, and gives you all that for £12.50!!
Oh, and a bottle of very warming Moroccan Merlot for £19.50.
We shall be back, possibly to try out the more tapas style menu in the basement snug.
The warm, atmospheric feel of Algeria is all wrapped up in this beautiful little building with perfectly attentive staff and knock out delicious food.
I have been a few times with various people and it's equally nice for bigger groups and a romantic meal. The meals are SO scrumptious and the menu offers a great selection to satisfy the taste-buds with intriguing flavours and combinations.
Veggies and carnivores can both be satisfied and one of the best things I had there was a ratatouille crepe... or the cous cous djej.... or one of the tagines... OH I DON'T KNOW, IT'S ALL DELICIOUS!
I've yet to check out some of the live music that features in the basement but I have been in the bar down there and it's a lovely setting too.
Would highly recommend you go here at least once, and really think you'll keep going back!
A complete surprise: rabbit tagine, kofta tagine with egg, humous and other delights cooked to perfection, fresh, delicious flavours, home baked milk bread, accompanied by complimentary fresh mint sweet tea served from a small silver pot, wonderfully warm service. This cosy little place is completely unassuming with really great quality simple food without fuss but made with love. Perfect surprise for a Sunday lunch turned into a trip to Moroccan Paradise in Crystal Palace...
Just came from a late dinner and I’m so happy i stumbled across this lovely restaurant! I had such an attentive server and the food came so quickly. I enjoyed my calamari, the duck confit tagine was to die for, and the chocolate tart was a perfect, not too sweet end to the meal. I’m absolutely stuffed right now, and going to sleep very easily 🤣💗
Absolutely delicious, good portion sizes. Open til late on a Saturday and accommodating to allergies.
Went here for the first time last night 26/09/2023 with our grandson and they serve authentic Moroccan/Algerian cuisine including baba ghanoush, couscous, meat and fish tagines. Very nice and we ate too much!
Great food and service. The hummus was really delicious. My friend is vegetarian so we only tried vegetarian items and they were all prefect. The atmosphere was great. There was only one staff so service was a little slow but worth the wait. And she was very friendly too.
This restaurant has to be the best in Crystal Palace very reasonable price aswell
but service was very slow because they’re understaffed. Mark the waitress was extremely busy bless him he was literally only him taken orders but he did an excellent job he stayed calm. We were very happy with our orders the food was very delicious . High recommend
Very delicious meal with generous portion. Great service. The only downside is the food can take a little long so don’t come too hungry. Bring some friends for some catch-up and to enjoy a delightful meal together.
This is an amazing place, i tried the lamb shank couscous and the grilled merguez as was trying to recreate my favourite Moroccan dish from Paris, and at the moment dishes arrived i was in heaven, the parfumes and flavours were incredibly delicate yet rich and powerful! I cannot recommend this place enough!
So we went last night for a birthday and party of 10. The staff were tentative and very welcoming. The starters were truly amazing, with a mixture ordered from the menu and chef's specials. The mains were simply amazing (the spicy lamb cutlets were to die for). This place is a hidden gem, it's only a small place so make sure you book in advance to avoid disappointment. Will be coming back
A lovely small bistro/restaurant in Crystal Palace.
Really good North African food at a very reasonable price.
Friendly, efficient staff.
Well worth checking out.
Lovely little place to eat the food is divine, staff very polite and friendly, music just right and also they have a bar downstairs to for those that just want to relax and chill.
Its one of my favourite resturants.
I've introduce and brought friends and family and they just love eating at Numidie also.
