Classy, cosy, great service, amazing staff especially the cloak personal and the door man.
Great taste of food, portion might not be as big but it was quiet enough for me.

Staff were amazing and quick to seat me, my waiter was very attentive and polite and was able to answer all of my questions about the menu and give me tips when asked. I had the Salmon and haddock fish cake which was delicious and rich. I felt a little under dressed in my t-shirt and jeans but staff didn’t make me feel uncomfortable or anything (but that may just be something I get insecure about, casual dress in a rather fancy place). Wasn’t all that expensive either, for a solo meal.

The Ivy celebrated its 100th year in 2017 and is a city icon in the theater district of London. With countless accolades over the years that include the Best Buzz award by Tatler Restaurant Awards 2016, Timeless Classic Restaurant of the Year by food and Travel Magazine, Best restaurants Eater London, and previous award for best London restaurant by the Harden’s restaurant guide, this hot spot is a place to mark for a visit like other actors, singers, and politicians do. This review is based on a visit before the renovation

Great service and wonderful setting but the food isn't to the perfection, and tend to be without any dressing !
It's a cool restaurant for a date or so but don't expect to see anyone under 30 !

My first time at The Ivy (the original in Covent Garden) it couldn't go better. It was unfortunate to have pre dinner drinks somewhere else in Soho. However, we had enough time and energy to enjoy this new addition to the venue after dinner. The list of drinks includes the finest rum from Guatemala, Strega from Italy and your favorite Scottish and Irish whisky. But of course dinner is the major attraction and it was delightful. The service gentle and very friendly, dinning floor is small but well designed so you never feel the fact there is no view to outside. The food it was excellent as expected and there was no disappointment: tender and tasty tartar and great foie gras as starter. The list of mains is generous and well selected. It's nice to see in the menu British classics along with new creations and seafood. We were a party of three and all of us were very pleased with our options as a main: a tender and cook to perfection duck, a generous and delicious ribeye, and a liver steak as good as mum's.
The puddings were lovely. Special mention to the Window of The Ivy, which includes the famous design of the restaurant windows, on top of this creamy chocolate pudding. Best way to celebrate its 100 year anniversary.
The decoration of appetizers and mains is less than exciting and it has a lot of space to improve.
Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to visiting this classic again, which it's not only hidden from the view from outside, but also away from the tourists to-do list.

A great brunch spot! The flourless chocolate cake is to die for. If you're lucky enough to get an outdoor seat in the summer its worth it. Also the melon salad is refreshing and delicious.

Those of us who are self-employed or freelance may gain a lot of personal freedom.  But, at times I miss the camaraderie of the office.  In particular at Christmas time;  while I wouldn’t claim to be a party girl, at heart I do enjoy Christmas parties.  This year I was thrilled to be invited along to the Pernod Ricard Christmas lunch at the Ivy.  I have to admit that not just a little of that was the location – the recently re-opened Ivy restaurant in the heart of Covent Garden. And, any invitation which arrives with ‘from 12.30 to 4pm’ is, well, promising!

Last Sunday some of my favourite luxury blogging ladies and I went to The Ivy to see what's changed since it was refurbished earlier this year. Arguably the most famous restaurant in London, The Ivy has a long history for being a favourite with celebrities. I adore it's sister restaurant, Le Caprice, and I enjoyed my last visit to The Ivy before the refurb.

Having working in London for 12 years as per know, this is one of my favourite place to go and eat and of course been seen !!!), I don't know if my Boss will remember the time we went as a team management : Get together kind of things, our manager had to call him, as we had already blow the budget up, but we really wanted a digestive !!! And of courses, to our surprises the answer was YES, so thank-you Boss, I am a type of guys who can eat quite a lot, so I generally have 2 starters before my first main course... Lol... I had the buratta and the ceviche were exquisite, then came the wines and the rest is history... But don't forget your gold MasterCard ( or if you can borrow your Boss one...) You will be sure to have a good time...
As always Flat Eric...

Went here for a group work dinner a few weeks ago. The ambiance is old school glamour, with heavy oak surroundings and the staff are dressed in crisp white shirts. The food was impeccable and even though we were in a large group everyone was satisfied and felt like they had experienced a real treat.

Id love to have the opportunity to come back here again. It was an experience I won't forget!

The Ivy is probably
One of the oldest
Most iconic restaurants in London. Our
Table Was
Booked for 10pm after watching the Book of Mormon (fantastic theatre show!!!!)
The restaurant was buzzing and although one often gets to catch a glimpse of a famous actor, we unfortunately didn't luck out that night.
I started with the fois gras followed by the pork belly. The food was outstanding! I will be back!

When you think of iconic establishments in London, The Ivy is second to none; period. Nestled in a quiet corner of Covent Garden, it has been serving and delighting London's Westend since 1916. That's right, 1916! To put that in perspective, since calling service on its first plate, the UK has seen 4 monarchs, 23 prime ministers and the top movie was "20,000 leagues under the sea". It certainly is the case where every dish is served with a side of history and stepping into its storied dining room is like a step back in time. The decor is just simply stunning; modernised yet still retaining all that classical decor accumulated over the decades; and the menu has also followed suit.

Following in the footsteps of so many before us, we attended The Ivy on this night for a late supper after the conclusion of a show settling in for a meal starting with Popcorn Shrimp then moving onto mains of spaghetti with Atlantic prawns, chilli and wild garlic and the chargrilled tuna.

As you would expect, the food was divine and lived up to its reputation. The popcorn shrimp was so addictive, I could've just keep eating that the whole night though it would've been a shame to spoil my appetite before the tuna which was excellent. The spaghetti, as plain as it may sound, was romantic in its simplicity and so fragrant; I would happily eat it again.

Rounding out the meal was a classic dessert of apple tarte tartin; a befitting ending to what was a classic evening.

If you've been to The Ivy, I hope you'll agree with me that this place is a must go. It's an institution now and so much more than a meal; it's an experience.

We had dinner here with friends. Food was delicious. My husband had a chicken soup and the Shepard's pie and both were excellent. I had a fish broth that was pretty tasty. The only thing I wasn't too happy about is that are waiter disappeared for long periods of times; it took long times to have our waters refilled and get out checks. It really is a bit disappointing that such a fine restaurant doesn't have a service up to its standards.

Posh dining experience. I liked the small details such as the butter being at a spreadable temperature for the bread.
The service was also excellent.
I ordered the seared scallops and although the dish presented as very promising but i was a little disappointed that the scallops were a tad too salty, due to the cured ham.
My partner's somerset lamb was lovely and succulent though.
The creme brulee redeemed my main course though, it was as a creme brulee should be, crisp toffee surface and the creme brulee with a certain amount of solidity to it, it was gorgeous. I' d just come from spending 9 days in France and this was every bit as authentic. Very devine.
Overall, a very nice dining experience for a special occasion.

Excellent. The Ivy is conveniently located in the theater district so we walked there after a play and were pleasantly surprised that the menu and experience were just as good as what we'd been told. I had grouse salad, Shepard's pie and the chocolate brownie dessert with mint ice cream. Everything was great.

Art Deco Charm. We ran into The Ivy to escape the rain after seeing Billy Elliot across the street. Fortunately, they had a table available, as our server later told us it can take two months to get a reservation here! The art deco charm of the building is authentically carried through in the dishes, menus and decorations, and the food is excellent.

Fun, but Frivilous. The Ivy is good for a night of fun... Seeing who you're dining with and how many paps will be outside waiting when you're done with your meal. Sorta like what Waverly Inn (NYC) went through the first year it was open.

I will say that the food is mildly creative adaptations of Brit classics, but it's nothing groundbreaking for the price. What you really come here for is the atmosphere and the chance that you're going to end up in the pages of HELLO the next week.

Discreetly delicious. It's easy to see why this has a reputation for being a celeb favourite. Unlike Nobu, The Ivy's atmosphere is intimate and discreet, good for people watching but where you don't feel 'watched'.

An extensive menu, no matter what you're in the mood for, you're bound to find something that hits the spot, and will be executed perfectly. Elegant and slick service makes The Ivy a dining experience that is special enough for special occasions, and cosy enough for familiar faces.. and you're likely to spot a couple of those.

Tonight I went to one of my favourite places to have dinner, The Ivy near Covent Garden. It is known for its prestigious food and ambience, not to mention the celebrity clientale that frequent. From the outset it has mosaic glass panelled coloured windows. The window below the The Ivy lettering has a beautiful moon and stars night scene set in coloured glass.

I have lived in London for 33 years and I have never, until now, been to The Ivy. So long has it been a part of the restaurant scene that I thought it had been there, in its present form, for decades, but (I was surprised to find) it has only been around in its current incarnation since 1989, courtesy of those masters of the slick and the smooth, Corbin and King. Of course, The Ivy was there long before the Corbin/King rebirth; since 1916, in one form or other, when it was set up as an Italian restaurant by Abel Giandelli. Not that it was called The Ivy then. According to legend, the name came about because an actor overheard Mr Giandelli apologising to a customer over some renovation works. Don’t worry, said the actress, we will always cling to each other, like the ivy.

This place sets an example for majority of restaurants around London, for their exceptional service and mouth-watering food. Upon reaching the place, we were offered a lovely table by the staff and were offered an extraordinary but expensive champagne. I won't go on writing about the menu items and their prices, you can find the same on Zomato. The place happens to be expensive. Pretty generous considering the portions of the food we had ordered. The only area that has a scope of improvement is the space crunch inside the restaurant as a number of tables are put in which kicks off the legroom and isle space. Otherwise, amazing food, great service and good ambiance.

I had been wanting to go to a The Ivy for ages, I think mainly as it's just one of those places that you hear about so often, it even pops up in some novels. You definitely need to book, and you are given a limited time at the table, although we did overstay and were not hassled, we did go mid afternoon though, I think it would be another story if it had been at a peak time. Even though it was mid afternoon, the restaurant was packed, and they do like to pack in as many as possible. Also photography is prohibited, that annoys me a bit, after all we are paying for the privilege. I had the famed shepherds pie which was very tasty, we also ordered the baked Alaska which is finished and served table side. We had a fantastic meal. I don't think the prices are too insane but the wine sure does push the price up, that's normal in London though.

It was so hard to get a table, we just took what we could get. To guarantee a table, you may have to book 3 months in advance.

I really don't think you will find a better burger in London for this price and these surroundings. There are more options than just a burger of course, but to be able to say you have been to The Ivy and only spent a little more than £10 on a burger is worth it. Conveniently located at the corner of West Street, this multi cuisine restaurant has the perfect combination of quality and quantity. On entering the restaurant you can smell the aroma which makes The Ivy unique. The place is well decorated with modern theme yellow lighting.
The portions are generous and the food is delicious. The wine list is never ending and is filled with exquisite wines from all over Europe. The only down side is that some of the waiters are relatively new and don't have too much knowledge of the menu. In my opinion, it is definitely worth a visit.

Wonderful place to visit on a day out in London, made the whole experience feel very luxurious. Service was generally attentive but it was quite busy so difficult to pay attention to everyone at once. I myself had the scallops and the ravioli which was delicious with the shaved truffles on top, and the scallops were delicious with excellent presentation. They made my mum feel very special on her 60th birthday with a plate of chocolate truffles on the house, and for fairly fine dining, the price was not too exorbitant between 5 people.

Reservations suggested! We did not have a reservation, and offered to sit at the bar, but were grateful to the hostesses that made accommodations to have a seated at a table. It did seem like we were inconveniencing them even though the restaurant was half empty (6:30 on a Monday) as they did allude to the fact that they were about to be very busy with tables coming in before nearby shows. White tablecloth dining experience. Food was incredible and came out very fast! Honestly, my favorite thing I ate in all of London! They take English classics to the highest level of execution! We didn’t get our cocktails until halfway through our meal that we ordered upon arrival - only reason for 4 stars on service. Our server was attentive (again - seemed like we were kind of an inconvenience) but regardless, we were checked in with and given speedy service. Gratuity fee 12.5% was already added to the bill. Although the restaurant was a little warm for us, they did have silent fans dispersed throughout which helped. Aside from the warmth, the atmosphere was upbeat and lively, lots of well-dressed guests and families, enjoying this beautiful, eclectic and colorful restaurant!

Had a really lovely visit to the ivy prior to watching the mousetrap. With no reservation and only 50 minutes prior to curtain up, the staff were able to accommodate us. We enjoyed a pre-dinner drink and both enjoyed the salmon served pink, cooked to absolute perfection 👌🏻 everything about this dish was just a triumph. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Thank you team, easy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ recommendation.

An upscale, art deco restaurant and bar in the heart of London. Staff engaging and professional. Delicious food and wine. Wonderful vegetarian menu; literally a separate menu so you don't have to sort it out on your own. Fresh and flavorful. I had the truffle ravioli. Wonderful with Sancerre!

I haven't been to this wonderful establishment for over 10 years, something happened and I thought they'd lost their edge. I'm really happy that I gave them another try as they are better than ever! The service was so gracious, friendly and welcoming from the doorman to reception and servers. They really made us feel welcome. There's no stuffiness here. The food was superb. My truffleled tortellini in a cheese sauce was excellent and filling - I couldn't finish it. My husband's fish and chips were absolutely the best. Crispy batter, and the fish was thick and succulent. Their sticky toffee pudding is the best anywhere, and we are on a mission to prove this. The prices are surprisingly good (as always). All the above and a nice bottle of wine and the bill came in under a £100. We're definitely going back, sooner than later.

I’ve been going to the Ivy, West Street since 2005 and I love it! It’s nice to know that the service is still excellent here. A friend and I enjoyed a lovely Royal Coronation lunch on 6 May. Service received from Kareem was impeccable. Food was delicious too!

THE place for a pre theater dinner! Seriously, it started out as a place for the patrons and actors to go for food and drink. The name supposedly came from an actor quoting a line from a song about cloning to something like ivy to a wall. Fish and chips and shepard’s pie - this should be the standard by which others are held up against. Perfect atmosphere for the theater crowd.

5*! fantastic service, great atmosphere, very friendly staff and fabulous food. I booked for 2pm on a Saturday. Loved the fact that the decor is still the original style. Will definitely will be going back to try out the evening menu. We had sea base, lamb cutlets, shepherd's pie and for dessert, Rum Barbar. Which had alot of rum poured over😋

Perfectly mixed cocktails great food. Service was quite good until dessert. We waited quite a while. The manager responded by comping all of the desserts. Unnecessarily generous but appreciated. The decor is very cool, a nice art-deco styling which fits the whole 1920’s feel and the drink menu. Can’t go wrong here!

My mum and I managed to arrange a last minute booking as we were going to go and watch the mousetrap. The food was divine, the presentation was beautiful (especially the crab starter) and the service made us feel so special. I didn't know about the vegetarian menu so will need to go back to try that. They were all so attentive and personal. We went a little too early, but we saw how busy they were so thought we'd have to wait a long time - we didnt! The philipino lady with the awesome hairbands overheard my mum talking about how she was excited for my new job but sad that I was moving halfway across the world so she organised some congratulations chocolates for us. What started as a quick meal before a show became an expierence we won't quickly forget. Thank you.

A Taste of Elegance at The Ivy, London Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5) I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Ivy in London, and it was a memorable experience that blended classic elegance with modern flair. Here's my review: Ambiance (★★★★☆): The Ivy exudes a sophisticated charm from the moment you step inside. The décor is a tasteful mix of Art Deco and contemporary design, creating an inviting and cozy atmosphere. The soft lighting and soothing background music set the stage for a delightful dining experience. Service (★★★★☆): The service at The Ivy was impeccable. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They made us feel welcome and were quick to accommodate any special requests. It's clear that they take pride in delivering top-notch service. Food (★★★★☆): The menu at The Ivy offers a diverse range of options, from classic British dishes to international flavors. We started with the Ivy Royale cocktail, a must-try, and it set the tone for the meal. For appetizers, we enjoyed the crispy duck salad and the prawn cocktail, both beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. For the main course, I opted for the roasted lamb, which was cooked to perfection and accompanied by a delightful assortment of seasonal vegetables. My dining companion tried the sea bass, which was equally delicious. Dessert was a highlight; the chocolate bombe was a decadent treat that we couldn't resist. Price (★★★☆☆): While the quality of the dining experience matches the upscale atmosphere, The Ivy's prices do reflect its high-end positioning. It's a place for special occasions or when you want to indulge, but not necessarily an everyday dining spot. Overall Experience (★★★★☆): The Ivy in London is a destination for those seeking an elegant dining experience with a touch of glamour. It's perfect for celebrating milestones, impressing a date, or simply treating yourself to a night of fine cuisine. While it's not an everyday restaurant due to the price point, it certainly delivers on the promise of a memorable meal in a beautiful setting. I would highly recommend The Ivy to anyone visiting London who is looking for a taste of sophistication and a memorable dining experience.

Anniversary dinner gift card , rainy Tuesday in London , first visit ,small little table close to other people , attentive staff, lovely art deco style restaurant nice feel to it . Food was ok nothing amazing reasonable portion size , alcohol expensive. On Web site states dress smart casual , we was smartly attired, apparently didn't need to bother , loud American group in hoodies shorts and trainers were allowed in .I had a cocktail yummy but different price on bill than menu . I would say in conclusion it was still a nice experience but not as special enough for our first anniversary as I was hoping

Blown away by the level of service at this place. Extremely attentive staff and a manager that will go above and beyond. My wife and I ate lunch here on a Saturday. For my mains I had lamb cutlet and asked for it to be pink inside. It came out well-done. The waiter asked how our meal was going and I said "the lamb is a bit well-done for my taste". What happened next I want to preface with: I am not fussy, and would have happily ate this meal. The waiter said "let me get my manager". A moment later the manager arrived at our table and asked what was wrong. I told him, and added that it is not a big deal and that it is just something to relay to the chefs. He told me that he would not be happy unless I would allow him to replace my dish. So I obliged. Fifteen minutes later my new dish arrived with a second portion of the sides I ordered accompanying it. The dish was also removed from our bill. I was blow away at the level of care and hospitality. Would recommend this place on this fact alone.

Nice restaurant, quite expensive although not surprising for a restaurant in London. We had a cocktail, a starter and main meal each, with a bottle of water for the table and I had one glass of wine, we shared a dessert, with a coffee each. The bill was £186 for the two of us. The food and service was good though. We did have to stand and wait for our table which was annoying as there was nowhere to sit and have a drink while we waited.

Giving 4 stars because I can not give 3 1/2. Firstly, the staff and the atmosphere of the place was absolutely superb. We had Sam serve us and we was very sweet and caring. He gets 5 stars. Starters, wine, caviar and champagne were all amazing. For mains we got shepherds pie, and it’s meant to be their number one thing. I was actually quite disappointed as the mince instead the pie was very dry, even with the red wine jus added. The mash on top was nice but overall I was quite disappointed in the dish. After we ordered desserts we were then informed we had to vacate the table and move to the bar as our time was up. I was quite upset by this as we were having a lovely relaxed meal and then we just get bumped to the bar. I was some serious issues with my back and sitting on that bar stool was so uncomfortable I had to rush my desserts just so I could leave. The sticky toffee pudding was to die for! We also got the Easter carrot cake. Definitely did not taste like carrot cake and did not appear home cooked. Overall it was a nice experience, but the mains and the way the night ended was a disappointment. This was meant to be a special meal to celebrate my grampas life but it felt like it was ruined.

Lovely ambiance in its classic location, the service was prompt and very attentive. I sat at the bar which is a great place to people watch. I ordered the fish and chips which was big, crispy, and fresh, with mushy peas which was a welcome addition that you don’t see always with this dish. I had a a standard Bloody Mary to wash it down with. Good experience.

We had a great lunch at the Ivy. The place is an institution and it did not disappoint. Being close to the theatres it is a prime restaurant for theatre goers. Overall the food and the quality was incredible and delicious. My review is four stars because we had a great experience except for the restaurant charging both a cover charge and a service charge which seems a bit excessive.
