a huge fan of this restaurant - great food, lovely family ambiance. A regular guest - but I did not know that the restaurant does catering for domestic events. Went to a friend's son's 21 birthday party. BBQ lunch for large number of seated guests. Outstanding salads - notably grilled tuna - amazing unrivalled, tasty, succulent lamb chops and exceptional ribeye steaks. Staff cooked and served - all impeccably. Congratulations on a new, successful line of business!
Cannot praise highly enough! Great food, great people, lovely service! My sister invited us over in November and we popped into the Rising Sun for a quick drink. Honestly, after a beer and a look at the menu, we couldn't help but to tuck into the amazing food! Started off with the Burrata, absolutely scrummy yet very simple. And for such a good cause with the donation to charity which is such a good cause for such good food! My boyfriend loved the pate too. Sea bass and crushed potatoes for main anyone? AMAZING!!! And my boyfriend was in love with the Fillet Steak pasta! I cannot express my love enough! The portions were too big for dessert- interpret as a good or bad thing. However, I would've murdered a chocolate brownie if I wasn't so full! The staff are very friendly. kind and there's a lovely family feel not to mention great service. The other people there were equally as kind too, so it's good to be dining with nice people.

Sunday lunch today was fantastic. The beef was cooked to perfection (medium) with a great Yorkshire and really delicious gravy (we asked for more which was accommodated). Desserts, as you would expect from an Italian restaurant, are prepared onsite too and while my tiramisu was great the pistachio cheesecake was just perfection on a dessert plate. After tasting it my food envy levels went through the roof. Great staff and relaxed dining room made it perfect.
We had a lovely lunch today. We had 2 sunday roasts (1 beef and 1 lamb) and also pasta and risotto dishes, all were delicious. The staff were attentive and the dining rooms are really pretty, we were in the garden room which was lovely.
Lovely family run restaurant with amazing food and a warm and welcoming atmosphere. All the staff were super friendly and the owner, Matty, made us feel like we had come to dine in his home. Highly recommend it and I’ll definitely be going back!
Arrived there after a walk through the fields. We seated in the outside heated tent (a bit annoying to be in front of the opening tho).
Food tasted really nice, the fried pizza was amazing.
Little side notes:
1) it took me ages fo digest the pizza even if we walked after
2) 6£ for a bottle of water it's a bit steep, even for the area. Okay that it's acqua panna, but c'mon, that's a robbery.
I was told about The Rising Sun by my neighbour, we had always seen it but never thought to pop in. Today we bit the bullet and thought "why not?!" and we are SO glad we did.
I had the house bread and garlic green beans (out of this world flavour!)
My husband had a pasta dish which he said was 10/10!
Staff are really attentive but not too overbearing and I really really cannot wait to be back! I'll get the tiramisu next time!
Perfectly cooked roast beef. All the food was brilliant as usual.
By far one of the best restaurants in the area and my favourite Italian. We've tried it twice and both times the menu was different but equally good.
The staff were very accommodating for my disabled friend and did everything they could to help make our experience enjoyable. The food was very delicious, and I’d certainly come back if I’m ever in the area. The decor was really lovely too. The only reason I’ve not given it five stars is because I’m not a fan of separate dining rooms, as it can feel a bit secluded. Having said that, that’s me being picky, and many people love the cosy vibe!
Always a good meal here. Beautiful flavours, well presented. Attentive and friendly staff. Sat outdoors which was initially quite noisy with some children running around but within 15minutes they had left.
Blankets were brought out when the temperature dropped.
Drinks and food alike were great.
Nice family and dog friendly restaurant, sat in the marquee and it was warm. The food was great. The pics show the nut roast and a beef sirloin roast, the beef needs to be medium or medium well as its thin cut, I was told by the waiter to get well done, but it was too done for me.

Having just had the most amazing birthday celebration for my wife, thanks to the Rising Sun, I felt I needed to write a review to thank them for being so special. Food... amazing! The atmosphere so warm its like visiting your family's restaurant and wine list ticks all of the boxes. The Tiramisu birthday cake was so good, I was a hero for just pre-ordering it. It is rare to find a wonderful family owned restaurant like this, where you feel like part of the family. Everything about the Rising Sun just works.
Really good food. Reasonable prices for the area. Would definitely go again. Best cheesecake ever had.
I took my mum for lunch today and I was very happy with the food and service. The staff were great and the food was delicious. Can’t wait to come back.

Was pleasantly surprised with the modern take on Italian dining @therisingsunmillhill put out! Insane food & great family run atmosphere ! Definitely going back for their BBQs in the summer!
