Actually this is for one lunch and one dinner, both at the counter due to last minute bookings. Consistently good service (excellent in fact), food and vibe. Strong wine list. Feel you could go here many times and still enjoy it. Thanks

Probably the best Italian place I have tried so far in London. For starters I shared with my friend Gnocchi and Olives. For main courses we had the Pappardelle with 8 hour Dexter Beef Shin Ragu and the Pappardelle with Fennel Sausage and Peppercorn Ragu. Highly recommended and their Pear Spritz was great too as a refreshing drink. You will probably have to wait long enough before you get in but it is worth it. Welcoming and friendly staff.

celebrity chef Richard Blais couples his inventive west coast-inspired American fare with geometric art and a bustling open kitchen. The kinetic energy in Juniper & Ivy effortlessly flows from its architecture to your plate. Movement and symmetry in a dessert like the kitschy Yodel — a cylindrical devil’s food cake made with hazelnut brittle and white chocolate mousse — is the big finale.

One of the best meals I’ve had in London. Gotta wait in line for almost 30 mins, but it was worth it. I I had cacio e pepe (9/10), beef parpadelle (8/10), and a glass of red wine.
I just love love love the cacio e pepe! A simple pasta dish with cheese sauce and black pepper but taste very rich and creamy. Beef parpadelle was good as well, beef was so tender and flavorful.
Definitely must visit when you’re in Borough Market

Crazy Good restaurant!!

Simplicity at its best. A small but exciting menu. Obviously, if you’re not too interested in pasta, you’re at the wrong place. But certainly... if you’re in the mood for perfectly prepared, fresh and delicious pasta meals. Then this is the place for you!!

The drinks menu has enough diversity and will satisfy the tastes of any guest.

Couldn’t find any fault. They even provide entertainment!

I heard a lot of great reviews about this place and many people back at home told us that we needed to definetly try this place when visiting borough market. We stood in line for about 45 mins and during that time we were giving little sample size of mac and cheese as it was a chilly day. How nice of them! The restaurant itself was quite cramped but not uncomfortable. We ordered 2 pastas and a burrata. Burrata was stunning and exceptional creamy! My partner had the pappardelle with beef shin ragu and he loooved it. I had the tagliarini with dorset crab, chilli and lemon. Not a lot of chilli and quite tangy for my liking but overall it was pretty good! If you're not too stuffed from eating all the free samples in borough market, give this place a go!

Fantastic vibey Italian restaurant close to London Bridge. Food was Al dente and had great flavour. I ordered the Ragu and shared gnocchi with friends, both were great. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. The place runs on a fast turnover - so be prepared. Queuing for a big table actually gets a table sooner... Go early to book!

After hearing a LOT of positive reviews, Padella was high on my to-go list. On Monday I finally got the chance to eat there and it was delicious. Located in London Bridge, the restaurant is directly opposite the station’s Borough Market exit so you won’t miss it.  The restaurant itself is small so make sure to get there early to avoid the queues- another thing, they don’t take reservations so getting there early is key.

One of the best Italian places in London. It may look like a small restaraunt but you can tell by the queue that the flavours are a Big hit.
Luckily it was swift and we were seated after not a very long wait.
I personally loved their Gnocchi in pepper sauce and the Ravioli in sage butter.
The service was prompt despite the place being busy. The food was nice and priced reasonably.
Overall i would love to visit again and definitely recommend.

We were looking forward to eating at Padella having heard such great things about the food here, our experience totally lived up to all we had heard about this place.
We ordered the pici cacio pepe, the pappardelle beef shin ragu, tagliarini with dry chilli, garlic, pangratatto, everything was beyond our expectations. Loved it

There’s a uniqueness and charm in the style of pasta bistro Padella, an institution to London Bridge with its signature shareable pasta dishes. I rocked up with two friends and after a bit of queue optimisation we made it for our first try. The story of Padella is that it’s from the owners of Trullo and was borne out of a dream to open a pasta bar with recipes inspired by their trips to Italy. It’s one of the busiest spots in London Bridge and is notorious for its queues. Kinda. The restaurant is no reservations, first come first serve. Once it’s full, there’s a waitlist and we ended up having to come back in about 30min for the table. Not sure what the average is but it always seemed busy.

Stumbling out of my wine tasting class with WSET, hungry from the 7 hour gap after lunch. I thought I take a chance at Padella for some pasta dinner. It was already coming up to 9 pm and a sign outside said that there was no more avaliablity. You see Padella operates a no booking policy, you just have to rock up on the day and leave your name down in hope for a seat inside. Lucky the lady attending the queue line told me she made sure I can get a seat with a 10-minute wait and I did.

Too busy being excited to dig in we forgot to take photos of the pasta. Buratta and bread to start was dreamy, I could have stopped there and been happy. Then came the pappardelle with beef shin ragu, everyone has to order this dish, it’s blow your tastebuds off yum. My friend had the ricotta and sage ravioli which was also delicious. So well priced. The restaurant is very small and you do have to queue, but the queue moved quickly and we were there no more than 15minutes.

We rocked up at around 2 something on a Saturday and waited about 40 minutes for a table. Ordered the Pici with marjoram, golden garlic and lemon, and the parpardelle with beef ragu, along with burrata for starters and an almond and cherry tart for dessert. Everything was delicious and full of flavour - the burrata was simply seasoned with olive oil, salt and pepper and was light and milky but simultaneously very morish. The two pasta dishes were very different tasting but both rich with flavour, so much that we found ourselves trying to scoop every last drop of sauce off the place with our forks. The tart, probably the least exciting part of our meal, was still deliciously buttery and crumbly, and offset pleasantly with the tang of a generous dollop of creme fraiche. Also appreciated the complimentary sparkling water! All this for less than £30- worth the wait but next time we will be coming at 12 on the dot !

We headed to Padella for a post-work Friday night dinner. Now be warned, they don’t take bookings so you need to get there early and they’ll take your number down and give you a text if a table comes ready. If you want to be extra prepared, they publish the day’s menu on the website everyday so you can do your homework before you head over! Either way, flexibility is key. We went ahead and crammed our group into a booth and got started with the Aperol Spritz – one of the best ways to start the weekend I’ve found.

OMG! This pasta place is heaven… cheap, speedy and most importantly, some of the best pasta I’ve ever had, Padella is really quite an incredible restaurant. Always expect a line before the restaurant even opens so make sure to get there early – but any wait is well worth it. Given that the pastas are slightly smaller than portions from some other restaurants, it is perfectly reasonable and still economical, to share 3 between 2 etc. As we went with 4 people, we tried 6 and that was basically the whole menu! The menu changes almost every week, but they always maintain a wide variety of different pastas such as gnocchi, pici, stracci, tagliarini, pappardelle and fettuccine – always cooked perfectly al dente. The prices ranging from about 5 – 7 pounds and just over 10 for seafood pastas, so I will just point out a few highlights from the night below 🙂

Cute little italian place right outside the borough market. While we were visiting London padella always had a queue. Once we decided to wait in queue to try their food and know what's the hype all about. It was early afternoon, we got a table quickly with the view of the roadside. It has a very limited menu and quite a few vegetarian options.

We ordered the taglirini in slow cooked tomato sauce. To our surprise it was one of the pasta dishes in tomato sauce we have had. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the sauce was flavorful! Would have love to try more dishes on their menu!

No bookings - just queue up to wait for a table- lovely small plates of Italian food. Next to Burrough Markets. We had water, a cocktail and soft drinks to start. Next came beautiful crusty bread with olive oil and some wobbly burrata. Next to arrive- gnocchi and parpadelle with beef ragu. Good sizes for lunch but maybe add a salad as veges are not included. Lovely food, efficient service.

I had to see for myself if the rumours were true, and I can confirm that they are: Padella is the best pasta in London. I went for lunch on a Saturday expecting a long wait for a table, but it was only about 20 minutes. I had to try as many pastas as possible so we ordered five to share between four of us. The taglierini with slow cooked tomato sauce stole my heart. It is the most beautiful, freshest pasta I have ever had. The tomato sauce bursts with flavour. Other must haves include the Cacio e pepe (of course) and the parpadelle with Italian fennel sausage ragu ,but everything is quite special. I love everything about Padella - it's simple, unpretentious, and a true master in pasta.

I was told the pasta here was so amazing that there's a nightly queue so I knew I had to try it.

It did not disappoint! We had tried the pappardelle, the ravioli and the tagliarini, which were all amazing! The puddings were just as lovely. We ended up ordering them all to try but the pear and almond tart was my favourite by far. On top of all this, it was all incredibly affordable for Central London.

I can see why this restaurant won the "worth the queue" award!

A no reservations, fresh pasta restaurant in the heart of Borough Market, from the owners of Trullo (Highbury). I’d been waiting to try Padella for a LONG time after drooling over it on Instagram and loving the pasta dishes at Trullo. Although no reservations restaurants usually put me off (especially those with as much hype as this one), Padella definitely didn’t disappoint.

It's freezing cold and there's a queue outside but the promise of amazing pasta is well worth it. Luckily we don't have to wait too long as we are only 2 people and a few people ahead of us are waiting for larger tables. To make comfort of the situation we are allowed to order a glass of wine in the queue too! We pray we won't be seated right next to the door as we see 2 diners finishing up whilst we wait as we don't want to sit in a draft. Luckily we are seated in what I consider to be the best spot, on the counter watching the chefs at work. It's almost like being at the theatre. We share a starter of Borlotti beans and for mains follow up with a Pici Cacio e Pepe and Taglierini with Crab. The Cacio e Pepe absolutely hits the spot. Note to self - I have to learn how to make this dish. I've tried before and never got it right. I wish we had room to eat more. Definitely be back here. Miso satisfied!

Extremely solid pasta centric restaurant near Borough Market, definitely worth a visit if in the area. The pici cacio e pepe was the highlight of the meal; the desserts add little to the menu, and the burrata, while good, came too cold to the table. Arrive early or expect to queue, although it moves fairly quickly. All in all, I might prefer Trullo, but Padella is in a prime location and serves great pasta. Unfortunately the wine list is relatively short, as are the few beer options; some additions would be welcomed.

Having weekdays off work has it's perks, and I decided to take the opportunity to pop down to Padella for their much talked about pasta. We are sat by the window, along the lovely marble counter, with a view of the ever-growing queue outside. I ordered a glass of Chiaretto Rosé 2015, wishing that it was summer again, whilst WK had the Aperol Spritz, that I ended up helping to finish - because that's what friends are for.The food menu, listed on a single sheet, is pretty brief and straight-forward: Antipasti, Pasta and Pudding.

You can't miss Padella even if you tried to; just follow the long queue of pasta-craving Londoners right across London Bridge Station. The concept of the place is simple; around 8 atypical pasta dishes, each priced between £5-£9. You will get a weird grin by the otherwise friendly waitress if you ask for Carbonara or Bolognese here; think more along the lines of pasta with smoked eel or chicken liver. After a 20 minute wait (we thought it would take longer), me and my wife were scurried down into the lower floor and were seated on the bar. A busy yet unloud place. We started off with bread and Puglian olive oil; probably the best olive oil I have ever had. A hearty watercress and rocket salad followed with the perfect peppery dressing with just right the acidity to bring out the freshness of the greens. Then 3 pasta plates followed; the pici cacio & pepe is freshly made from thick cylinderical pasta and cooked in a simple cheese and butter sauce and seasoned only with black peppercorn; a heartwarming dish that is not as heavy as we thought it would be. Curling up the unusually looking pasta with your fork feels great, and even greater when it leaves you with the delicious peppery aftertaste. The beef shin pappardelle looked great, though it was pulled meat which I was never a big fan of. Then followed the peculiar smoked eel Tagliatelle with Amalfi lemon; I loved the concept of this dish though found it could have been prepared in a much better way. Too much parsley in it and the sauce a tad too basic; not as lemony as it looks. The pasta itself did not feel too 'rich' and maybe was 20 seconds overcooked. The eel though was incredibly succulent and 'unfishy'. We had house red wine and sealed off our late lunch with a rich almond and pear tart, though the accompanying cream was not worth the calories. An overall authentic Italian pasta experience at great value; I just wished there was more simplicity in the ingredients coupled with a little more complexity in the preparations. £20-£25 a person. Final Verdict: 7/10

Everyday padella crosses my mind whenever I feel hungry, this is bad, I love handmade pasta too much. You need to queue for this but it's worth it. A good hearty plate of pasta is the key to my heart.

Swarming its way through social media and recently making it to the list of top 100 restaurants by London TimeOut magazine, Padella has been rated as one of the best pasta places in London. It is highly recommended by a number of food influencers either. It is also after all opened by the dynamic duo behind another well-established Italian restaurant in London, Trullo. This all points to a promising standard so I decided to give this place a go as well.

We could have waltzed in except for the fact that one of our number was late and they only seat complete parties. As the. clock ticked by to 6:30 we were getting antsy – we had an Escape Game to get to at 7:30 and were running out of time to eat! We were considering suddenly saying we were only a four after all but the girl seating people took pity on us and let us have a table as long as we ordered for our friend while we waited. Luckily, just as we sat down, she turned up.

What I love about pasta is its simplicity and how tasty and comforting it can be, especially when most dishes have so few ingredients. Less is more, they say. When saying simplicity, I’m not exactly at home rolling out some rigatoni or whatever pasta shape your mouth desires, it is a skill, but you know what I mean.

Padella popped up at London Bridge under my nose and somehow missed it. The location was a place called Degustibus, when I worked around there, years ago. They had the best peanut butter on toast. It’s the simple things. Anyway, Padella appeared on my radar when a few people I follow on twitter and Instagram were raving about it, I trust these people, so had to pay a visit.

We started with some salame “Lovison” and some marinated spinach with chilli, garlic and anchovy. The salame had some good flavours from the spices inside the meat and was sliced slightly thicker than some other places, which is always a bonus. The marinated spinach was served cold, we weren’t expecting this, but quite enjoyed it.

There are a range of pasta dishes to choose from, they are small portions, so good to share a few. We had three different dishes between two of us, which seemed the right amount. Taglierini with Dorset crab, chilli and lemon was light, fresh and delicious. Tagliatelle with nduja, mascarpone and parsley was very flavoursome and the ndjua added a good bloody kick. Pici with marjoram and golden garlic was really good. Yes, it looked a bit like fat worms on a plate, but the sauce it was slathered in had a good amount of garlic in and left me wanting to lick the plate. Who cares about table manners, right?! To be clear… I didn’t lick my plate.

For dessert there were only three options; almond and cherry tart, chocolate tart and salted caramel ice cream. We opted for the almond and cherry tart, a simple dessert, with a nice texture from the almonds, the cream that accompanied it definitely helped it from being dry. If I was to order again, I’d probably order the chocolate tart or ice cream.

I really enjoyed each pasta dish and would be keen to go back and try the other options on the menu. Each plate of pasta felt very fresh and you could tell it was all made on site. To be honest, you eat at Padella for the pasta, the starter and dessert option could be skipped. Prices are reasonable and you can dine on a cheap budget.

Pasta is relatively simple. Carluccio’s does a great pasta dish, so does Padella, but what makes Padella exciting (beyond the bloody queue) is that each dish is only 90g of pasta so you don’t need an extra belt loop when dining.

Two things frustrated me. One: the queuing. I’m really not into the whole queuing trend at the moment. I believe restaurants should have some options for reserving tables. Two: The service was lacking. A simple smile would suffice, and not made to feel like they are doing you a favour by letting you in.

Anyway, that aside let the pasta do the talking and enjoy that carb fest! What moron came up with ‘no carbs before Marbs’ anyway?!

Padella Pasta is one of the London food scene's chosen few this year. From regular appearances on Instagram by London's top food bloggers to the thirty minute wait lines due to the no-reservation policy, Padella has definitely accrued a lot of attention and hype. In addition, the sad closing of Zucca, which was my favourite Italian restaurant in London, left a vacuum in this area for a restaurant offering affordable but authentic Italian cuisine. I was hoping Padella could be the beacon of hope that would occupy this niche!

Oh, Padella is so good! We have been intending to visit as we passed by en route to the Borough markets and saw them making all their pasta.

We sat at on the tables facing the kitchen and I daresay I was salivating as I watched them cook ours (and others) meals. The Ragu with the slow cooked beef shin is really something to behold! Oh and they're very generous with the parmesan

Thank you for a lovely meal!

If you are only going to serve one thing it better be good and Padella pretty much nails it with their pasta. The signature pici cacio e pepe (pici pasta with pecorina, salt and pepper) had a slight bounce still left in the pasta. A couple of mouthfuls had possibly a bit too much pepper for me, but that's kinda the point for this dish. The pappardelle with 8-hour Dexter beef shin ragu was also a highlight. I wish they sold the ragu in jars to take away.

I’ll be back, though, because even in food-stuffed Borough, Padella stands out. You’ll find me in a corner with an expression of glazed lust, hoovering up worms of pici like a deranged cuckoo. And I’ll have already put in an order for a second plateful. Spiralise that.

Padella is a cute little pasta restaurant on the edge of Borough Market and it’s by the Trullo chaps (they own an Italian neighbourhood spot in Islington). Being so small, seating is a touch cramped if you’re not at the bar overlooking the open kitchen. We were in a corner with someone’s elbow digging into our backs and our legs totally squashed BUT it didn’t matter – it’s all part of the charm. The pasta is so bloody good I’d have gladly sat in the loos and tucked in.

I have a rather conflicted relationship with intimate open-kitchen restaurants. At their best, for example in Japanese style sushi bars, they offer the ultimate host-guest experience, allowing a chef to tailor the pace and content of a meal on an invidivual level and giving the customer an intimate view of the skill and technique that goes into the making of their dinner. Served blind, the food at Sushi Tetsu would still rank amongst the finest Japanese food in the capital, but seeing it prepared before your eyes with such balletic skill and artistic flair lifts the experience to another level.

There is a qr code to scan at the front to get into a virtual queue. When you enter the restaurant it is incredibly lively. They have an open kitchen upstairs that is mesmerizing to watch, such a well run operation getting the pasta prepped and ready. The list of options is perfect, there is enough variety that you'll find something for everyone but won't get lost in pages of options. I'd definitely recommend sharing as there are just too many delicious pastas to only want to try one!

A QR code to scan at the front door for queue up and you will receive a text message when the table is ready. I got a seat at the counter table right in front of the open kitchen. It’s a good experience to see how they prepare your food. Fettuccine is one of my favorite pastas, so I order this with Scottish girolles and tiramisu as dessert. Food served fast and hot, the texture and the cooking time of home-made fettuccine is absolutely great. They cut the girolles into little pieces but I would prefer to keep the original shape of the girolles in order to enjoy mixture flavors of the pasta and mushroom altogether.

The tagliarini with dried chili garlic and pangrattato was my favorite dish.

This is my go to spot for hand made pasta in the London Bridge area. If you go at an odd time of a weekday, you’re unlikely to need to wait for long for a table. I had the cacio e pepe and tagliatelle with beef ragu - two of my favourites here. Service is swift and attentive, and comes with free still/sparkling water.

Great atmosphere, excellent service and food was good. I had the mushroom tagliatelle which I liked but wasn’t that special. Tiramisu was a treat though! Free sparkling water is a nice touch too. Almost immediate seating at 5pm on Wednesday.

The pasta itself was exceptionally good and was cooked to perfection. I got the crab pasta, which was a bit lacking in terms of flavour and the amount of crab in the dish, but the fresh pasta made up for it. I tried my friends dish, which had mussels in it, and was much more flavourful and well rounded. Will come back again and order something else as it seemed like the recommended options from the staff were the best. The service was excellent as well!

Came here for dinner (around 5pm+), and had to queue in the virtual queue for about 20-30 minutes. The pastas and burrata we ordered were really good. And we ended off with a really nice tiramisu.

This was my 2nd visit to Padella, really enjoyed the tagliarini with crab 🦀 , I can eat it all day. Last time I also tried their beef ragú (not pictured) and that was very tasty as well. This time I sat by the bar, and got a chance to watch the food being prepared in front of me, very impressed by how efficient they organised their prepped food, so they essentially cook up some nice food with “fast food” level of efficiency! The queue was a bit long, we did virtual queuing for about 55 minutes, but that’s worthwhile ☺️

Delicious fresh pasta served by the nicest of staff! Always a queue and a packed restaurant, but that doesn't knock the staff and their kindness and attentiveness. Always wishing for a slightly bigger portion - but maybe I'm greedy!

Love this resto! We were two and originally ordered two pasta but they were so nice (and portions were not big) we ordered a third to share! Our favourite was the Ragu!
