I'd been dying to try The Village Kitchen after seeing it stuffed to the gills with the fashionable Walthamstow Village ilk for weeks.

We booked a table for a quiet Monday evening and were given a superb seat by the window: good sign. We ordered wine, chicken tandoori and pork belly ... Folks, it exceeded my expectations.

The chicken was tender and beautifully flavored; my pork belly had the perfect crackling on top and the little pearls of sweet apple did wonders as the accompaniment.

Although we were too full for dessert, our bill arrived with a jar of pick 'n mix. Now if that isn't appealing, then I don't know what is.

Book to avoid disappointment.

Went there couple weeks back for Sunday lunch £10 set menu, chose the salmon which was topped with sundried tomato purée , a really big yorksire pudd and potato's. The food was seasoned very well, it was tasty and I was more than satisfied, also tried my mates lamb and it was simply Devine. I recommend this place 9/10

Great Value. Can't go wrong here Monday-Thursday, 2 courses for £12.50, and the food is great. The staff are attentive. Shame the other 2 VK restaurants closed in E4 and E18 but am thankful this remains. Keep up the good work

I LOVE IT!. I have been visiting the Village Kitchen fairly regularly since the beginning of the year (probably been about once a month) and have never had a bad experience.

It is just up the road from me so it is a lovely treat to take a book and sit and relax while being looked after by Hannah, the ever wonderful waitress. On my first visit I was putting cracked pepper on my meal and she overheard the fact that the pepper grinder was almost empty and got me a fresh one. Now that's service above and beyond what you would receive in most places I suspect!

The food has always been lovely, cooked just as requested, and there is no skimping on the servings. The menu has changed recently and they now offer kangaroo. It is good to see something so different and unexpected in one's local restaurant. The white chocolate cheesecake is to die for, and Hannah rustles up a fabulous Raspberry Bellini too.

It is also lovely to be recognised when I walk in and greeted in such a friendly way. Hannah also knows I am there to relax and asks the kitchen not to rush my meal so I can enjoy myself (without my even having to ask). Terrific service.

I recently took friends there on their final night in the UK after travelling around Europe for 3 months. After all their experiences, they reckoned their meal at the Village Kitchen was one of the best that they had had.

Great value, highly recommended and I'll be back!

I am going regularly with my partner to this amazing restaurant.Everything is fresh and tastes beautifully. The menu is one page but includes all kinds of tastes.A gem in Walthamstow village that many of the locals keep it for themselves!Good prices during the week as you can have starter and main (and believe me it's enough) for only £15!!!!

Came here for our anniversary with my partner. The food was amazing, cocktails are strong so worth what you pay for them. This restaurant is a hidden gem in Walthamstow village and well worth what you pay for the quality of the food. The waitress and hostess were lovely, friendly and accommodating

We went to this little restaurant for our 20th anniversary and it was overall a nice experience, maybe a little too expensive for E17. The food was really good and the cocktails delicious. Very nice personnel and we felt really welcomed. The only thing that bothered me was the temperature inside, a little too hot.

My partner and I were due to have our wedding reception at another restaurant in Walthamstow, but they cancelled on us at the last minute, leaving us in a complete panic. We were devastated, but Britt from The Kitchen came to our rescue. She was so understanding and helpful, and she immediately offered to host our reception instead. She went above and beyond to make sure that everything was perfect, and she even managed to fit us in at the last minute, despite being very busy. On the day of our wedding, the staff at The Kitchen were absolutely amazing. They were all so friendly and attentive, and they made sure that we had everything we needed. The food was also incredible - our guests couldn't stop talking about it! We had a truly magical day, and we're so grateful to The Kitchen for saving the day. A special mention to Britt, who was absolutely amazing throughout the whole process. She was so calm and reassuring, and she made sure that everything ran smoothly on the day of our wedding. She's a true asset to The Kitchen, and we can't recommend her highly enough.

Delicious food, but MY GOD was it loud inside. Genuinely unpleasant, couldn't wait to get out of there which distracted from the super-tasty food. Was a little extra-sad to be sat inside as one of the staff had considerately called me 2-3 hours before our booking to check if we wanted to sit inside or outside. We had agreed outside was best as the weather was decent, but for some reason when we got there the table was set inside with no space outside to move to. I know this was just a mistake, but the result was a shame for us. I genuinely think this restaurant (much like Eat17) should invest in some sound dampening - it would make the experience so much better. I know many people who love Eat17 but often choose not to go because of the noise, and I feel the same about this place. Didn't help that the music was more suited to a club than Sunday lunch (god I sound old, but it's true). Staff were friendly overall. So much potential...

Attended here 12/08/2023 for my In-Laws Wedding & I must say, what a beautiful intimate setting. All the staff made their day beautiful, such fantastic service, of freshly cooked food. The owners are lovely also. Very nice to attend a setting, whereby the owners too are there visually. Thank you for making the day and evening, as amazing as it was. I'm also grateful for my on the house "splash of Brandy" in my Prosecco x

Good portion of mussels but taste wise it was ok. Calamari was decent too. Buttered prawns and dessert were nice. Duck on the other hand was amazing! Would definitely come back for it again!

I was attending an event across the road and needed some last-minute assistance. Daisy and her team were super friendly and accommodating. Noticed how great the atmosphere was too. Highly recommend for the service alone!

Back for another delicious Sunday roast! My husband enjoyed the vegetarian nut roast, hit and miss in lots of places. My roast lamb and our friend's lamb shank were cooked to perfection and incredibly tasty all served with huge Yorkshire Puds. Probably one of the best roast meals we've had out todate. 10/10 to Melvin and Billy for great food, service and their hospitality. We'll be back soon!

The food here was gorgeous. Our whole party was really happy with everything they had. The chips were ridiculously good. They were clearly understaffed but still managed to give excellent service. Will definitely be coming back.

We had a fantastic meal here at Kitchen last weekend. We booked very late on the recommendation of my sister in Law who lives locally and babysat for us. The atmosphere was fun and exciting and as soon as we walked in we knew we were in for a loveky evening. The cocktails were so so good and the food was delicious and portion sizes plentiful. Staff were like one big family and service was 10 out of 10. We look forward to coming back again soon.

We came here for the second time, and this time it was a midweek meal on a pleasant August evening. We were glad to get an outside table, and we started our meal with a lovely bowl of olives and a drink. Our order for starters seemed to be forgotten, unfortunately, but after a reminder they quickly arrived and were delicious - my partner's gnocchi with mushrooms, pumpkin and parmesan the star dish of the evening - and my garlic prawns on toast was also very good. The manager later gave us a large glass of red wine each to make up for the wait, which was a lovely gesture and very much appreciated. For mains, I had a really good, if unremarkable jerk chicken (I'd have had it a bit hotter) and my partner had the linguini, which she found a touch heavy and spicy when expecting a light sauce, but a really good dish all the same. Desserts were good (apple pie, and an Eton mess) and with the whole thing coming in at under £100 including service, we had a lovely evening and will definitely be back!
