Nice ambiance. Pleasant staff. Great food. Smaller portion sizes than many other burger joints, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I have been looking forward to visiting The Greedy Cow (right near Mile End station) for a while, especially considering it is pretty close to me!. The Greedy Cow is anย independent restaurant serving ย a wide range of burgers and steaks. There are not many places that offer such a choice of burgers โ€“ usual cheese and bacon burgers and chicken burgers but mixed in with Chinese (duck) Indian (lamb with onion bhajji) and Jamaican โ€“ oh and of course a Wagyu burger! Also exotic burgers โ€“ camel, kangaroo and wild boar. Extra toppings available for all burgers too!

Best hamburgers I have had so far. Delicious cheddar cheese and onion rings. Friendly staff, relaxed kind of service and terrific manager who opens the door for you and asks you what you are looking for. Nothing better than being served a good burger by people who take care of you. Could wider the offer on beers.

I have only good things to say about this place. I love a good burger, and that's exactly what I got here. There is a decent range of burgers and mine was divine. The sweet potato fries, although a touch too salty, were phenomenal and the cookies and cream milkshake is as good as it sounds (although larger straws may be a bit better to enjoy their thickness & yummy-ness). I had the best waitress who was so friendly and it was a good atmosphere in general. Good value for money and everything is prepared very quickly.

Really stumbled upon this place while on a lunch break from volunteering at nearby Cemetery Park. Great menu choice, even including exotic meat such as crocodile, fantastic lunchtime deal on burgers, sweet potato fries were delicious and my fresh lemonade the real deal. Staff efficient and friendly. Will be back

Who would say that you would find one of the best cheap/good burger restaurant in town in Mile End?? DELICIOUS!! Better than Five Guys! The sweet potato french fries are too good to be truth, really crunchy! It is a crime to go to Greedy Cow and not to order it! The prices are honest, service extremely acceptable and the quality of the food is really good. If you are a burger fan this is a must!

The staff were very nice and even mentioned what was halal and gave good suggestions. The atmosphere was very pleasant and not very crowded. I had the lamb chops and the lamb burger because I can eat that much. The lamb chops were delicious and juicy with every bite. Easily comes off the bone. The burger was also tasty and thick. I would recommend this place.

Iโ€™ve tried them all, carnivorous meats from around the world,ย crocodile, ostrich, kangaroo burgers. Such exotic meats never scared me off.ย The simple word steak can send peopleโ€™s tongue wagging, sizzling prime cut meat, cooked over a grill/pan, that can be cooked to how you like. Thereโ€™s even a festival meatopiaย held here in the UK to celebrate all things meat. Itโ€™s not often you go to East London for some decent meat.

Iโ€™ve tried them all, carnivorous meats from around the world, crocodile, ostrich, kangaroo burgers. Such exotic meats never scared me off.

The Greedy Cow is by the main road near to Mile End road, opened by two brothers serving flamed chargrilled steaks, burgers and exotic meats.

Served on a wooden board with one-half of the bun opened, and slices of gherkins, and slaw on the side. Yes, I know my burger looks burnt from pictures, but donโ€™t let that deceive you. Itโ€™s charcoal flamed, and hand rubbed with seasoning. You can see the juices sitting on top of the lamb meat.

For any avid foodie in the UK, Iโ€™m sure youโ€™ve been unable to avoid the fact that today is โ€˜National Burger Dayโ€™. Iโ€™m fully expecting to see my Twitter feed exploding with pictures of delicious burgers thatโ€™ll have my tummy rumbling in the office all morning!. You may have seen my post yesterday about being an Asda Butcherโ€™s Apprentice for an evening (it was so much fun!). Theyโ€™ve given me an interesting infographic on how eating a burger is in fact a โ€˜multi sensory experienceโ€™ and as such, how to create the perfect burger. Some of my foodie friends are burger obsessed, always on the hunt for the best new burger in town, so Iโ€™m sure theyโ€™ll agree with this concept.

This a is a brilliant place in mile end. It offers some weird and wonderful burgers and steaks from crocodile sandwiches to kangaroo steaks. But my favorite halal lamb chops and fiery chicken wings. Lamb chops always cooked to perfection with mushroom salad. Prefect.

Visited on a Sunday evening. Started by telling us that they had run out of burger buns, which seemed absurd for a burger restaurant, however this did force us to choose something else from the menu. I had the 21 day aged steak which was good, my girlfriend chose the tuna nicoise salad which was very tasty. Peroni beers were not very cold, but they oferred to put the next ones in the freezer. Overall very good food at a fair price.

An extremely wholesome and juicy burger.
The greedy cow was recommended to me by a friend and was very tasty classic burger.

ย The menu consist of various burgers following different types of cuisines adapted to the classic burger. For the mile end area, if you want a good burger this is the place to go.

There was a lunch special and student deals which catered to the Queen Mary students who mainly dine there for lunch.ย

I ordered a classic burger, simply because I was confused about the myriad of other choices, and I was positively surprised with the quality of the bun and the taste of the burger. The staff was really friendly and helped with the order and the confusion we had about the student deal.

For a burger place amongst a bunch of sub-standard kebab places the Greedy Cow really is a diamond in the rough. A restaurant that I definitely recommend and somewhere that I frequently visit between classes.

This place really knows their meat. They make a mean burger and know how do get their steal done right.

The Greedy Cow was where the Queen Mary students go when they want something nicer than usual. Contrast to most of what else is around Mile End, it's a proper sit down restaurant with a nice atmosphere and good food. Unlike most other places in Mile End you feel like you're actually getting a dining experience as opposed to grabbing takeaway just because you're hungry and can't be bothered to cook. Thus I always felt like the additional increase in price was worth it because you can tell that there's actually thought and care out into the food as opposed to just slapping something together and yelling next.

Two words โ€“ Great steak!

We passed this restaurant when we got lost on the way back home after a terrible meal somewhere else and every table was full. My friend was attracted by the fact that they have steak.

We ordered two Rump Steaks which arrived on a sizzling platter surrounded by salad, cherry tomatos and other vegetables! We were warned by the lovely waitress that portions were quite big but we remained amazed at the size of the steak. It was delicious and if it hadn't been far from my place I'm sure we'd have eaten there again.

They have other steaks that we saw served to other guests. They were looking amazing. I think we have to find some time to come back to this place again.

It deserves any penny that you will spend!

I would not drop here often if I am around East London in general, but for Mile End - this is the absolute place for a proper burger as you are surrounded with kebap shops that are neither authentic nor of any quality and hunting down for food may be a risky adventure if you are new to the area. ย
I have not tried much but the steak and burgers- however they were crispier than I expected, with a much better service than most venues in East London. I would not say that the burger for each country is the best idea, but it definitely works if you are choosing what to eat much easier and you are more content- so it is an advantage of options for the restaurant.
I will probably be a more frequent visitor of the place- and will have the opportunity to review for side dishes!

It is one of the first restaurants that I went to in East London, which is conveniently located next to Mile End station. When I first entered the place I was immediately drawn to its cozy atmosphere and its creative interior design of cow prints, only to find out later how good is their food. The restaurant mainly specializes in steaks and burgers that are so tasty, which would make me choose it over any other burger place in London. If you are into an exotic food experience then it is the right place for you as it also offers a variety of meat such as the kangaroo, camel and wild boar that are cooked very well. In addition to all that, every time I have been to 'Greedy Cow' the service has been outstanding, the waiters/waitresses as well as the manager are very warm and welcoming, which makes it even a greater dining establishment.

If you like steak the Greedy Cow does not disappoint. The food is as tasty as you'd like but it's not all beef! My wife had the salmon and even I had to admit it was nice (I'm not a fan of salmon usually). It's quite small inside but I think that makes it cosy and if you're a fan of cow print you'll be happy. The only criticisms I would have is that to be honest the waitresses could have been a bit more friendly and also we got seated next to the kitchen which was rather hot! As restaurants go it might not be anything out of the ordinary, but it was a perfectly enjoyable experience.

Great location, only 2 min from Mile End station. I ordered Kangaroo burger with enormous onion rings and I've got to say that it was very tasty. I do not know many restaurants that serve kangaroo meat but this one does, and they do that really good. Their menu contains really odd courses worth to try! The customer service really friendly. Definitely the best restaurant in this location.

With the burger craze that is currently around London when you see 'Award Winning Burgers' it does create a feeling of interest. I am slowly getting through the list and now it was Greedy Cow's turn. It is good that the East also has a share of burger joints to taste and test.
I've actually been to this place twice now due to their good location and one other key reason. This being although the usual suspects (P&B, Honest, MeatLiquor) are relatively hard to beat, Greedy Cow offers it's own unique twist with the availability of 'Exotic burgers', including Wild Boar/Kangaroo, and also their very own 'Around the World in Burgers'. This offers a level of variety unavailable from the aforementioned.

With this in mind on my first trip I had to try one of the 'Exotics', deciding on Kangaroo after some deliberation. The burger was a tad dry for my taste but did offer a taste I hadn't had before which I enjoyed. On the side I also shared a portion of chicken wings (of course) and onion rings. The wings were a bit on the spicy side, but that's just for me as my friend loved them. The kicker of the meal however has to be the ONION RINGS (I felt it necessary to caps this just to emphasise the size of these gargantuans)! A great addition to the meal and really leave an impression, as can be seen from numerous reviews.

The second visit was a necessity after a friend requested I join so they could get the 20% off from #greedymondays (benefit of having friends from QM) โ€“ with this discount we decided to go for some steaks as it seemed fitting. Nicely cooked medium-rare with a nice lacing of charred grill taste. Made it difficult to know what I'll choose next time....

One stand-out factor that must be mentioned is the exceptional service on offer, they really treat you well and make you feel at home and taken care of!

Overall although the quality of the burgers doesn't quite match up to those of the big names, the variety on offer will definitely keep me coming back and it is definitely flying the flag when moving more East.

Greedy cow has a very welcoming feel when you walk in. The staff is attentive and the place, cozy. Just a short walk from Mile end, the restaurant is easy to access as well.

I ordered the fish cakes and the bread platter for starters and both were great. The tartare sauce was delicious and the fish cakes soft and flaky. As for the bread platter, well the best thing you can say about any bread platter is that it had great bread! For mains, I gravitated towards the lamb chops and asked for them well done - they came nicely charred on the outside and full of flavour. The salad could have done with more character as the dressing failed to impress, but that's just a minor gripe.

To wrap up the meal, I went for the Creme Brulee which was good and the wine served alongside was a very nice merlot, which I could find no fault with! The highlight of my meal was the mashed potatoes and the peppercorn sauce. Both were outstanding.

Verdict: Head to the Greedy Cow and go straight for the steaks/ lamb chops. Don't forget the mashed potatoes and peppercorn sauce. They got the most murmurs of agreement across the table!

Don't know much about places in the East, but had to meet a friend in that part of town and discovered Greedy Cow primarily because I liked the name + the cow staring at me!

Ordered the Aged Sirloin which was supposed to be medium rare. The peppercorn sauce was absolutely amazing and negated the slightly 'charry' steak.

Staff were very friendly, ambience top notch. Unfortunately I stay too far from Greedy Cow or else I might have been a regular. Will definitely go back to try the Kangaroo burger!

To be honest, I love restaurants that arenโ€™t ashamed to name themselves after their favourite customers. This one instantly caught my attention, with its name and menu. Now, it might not immediately strike your fancy if you walk past it but if you disregard its unassuming exterior and truly explore it for what lies within you might find a love that is not easily lost.

Yes, the Kangaroo Burger made me go a little soft in the head.

Truly, no photos would do justice to how delicious the burger was. This was my first time trying Kangaroo meat and I must say that I was impressed by how tender and juicy it was. The burger was decently sized as well being cooked perfectly (medium rare for me). However, as silly as this sounds I would like to make a special mention of their Onion Rings. This might come as a surprise to serious reviewers who could write endlessly about Molecular Gastronomy, but this place takes the prize for serving the best Onion Rings in town any day of the week and twice on Sundays. Fat, greasy, crispy are words whose synonyms I leave you to look up whilst you dream of paradise.

The service was friendly and timely. Our server actually took time out to talk to us about our wine and food (not something you see these days at places youโ€™re not spending your life savings on).

In a nutshell: Burgers worthy of going on a diet for the rest of the month for. Onion Rings to break your diet for.

Having just moved to the East End I am a complete newbie when it comes to good places to eat. My new room mate, a student and part time chef, has taken upon herself to change this and has taken up the role of my East End foodie guide. One of the first places she took me to was Greedy Cow. I have only good things to say about it and here is why:

The Venue- Greedy Cow is a small restaurant in Mile End and only a 5 minute walk from Queen Mary University. Taking this into account I had expected the Greedy Cow to be a run down student joint or worse have gone for the cliche "American Diner" vibe which so many steak house/burger places in London seem to adopt. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the design of the venue which was elegant but casual with dim lighting, mirrored walls and candles.

The Menu- The Greedy Cow definitely opts for quality over quantity with a menu that provides a few different choices but which is by no means extensive. I personally really appreciated this, they know what they are good at and they stick to it. The menu consists of a few different main meal options but my housemate insisted I go for a burger which she described as "legendary." The burger choices were made up of spins on your classic beef and chicken burgers but also offered a selection of "exotic burgers" in which you had a choice of wild boar, camel and kangaroo. I must admit I was too cowardly to go for the exotic burger and opted instead for the safe "American." The burger which I asked to be cooked medium-rare, was divine and spot on medium-rare which I have struggled to get in other British burger's. As a side I ordered the potato wedges which I would say were probably the best wedges I have ever head. To drink we both got two rounds of the greedy cow cocktail. I am not really sure what makes up the greedy cow cocktail but it was divine and I highly recommend it.

The Staff- the staff were absolutely lovely and extremely attentive. The food came quickly and the lady who served us was quick to offer us a range of sauces to go with our sides, a jug of tap water to go with our cocktails and checked if we needed anything twice during our meal despite the restaurant being quite busy.

in terms of the price I would say it was on the average/slightly expensive side. With the standard burger being on the smaller side of the average burger and costing 8 pounds without any sides, which cost on average 3 pounds. Nonetheless, the quality of the food and the general experience more than make up for the slightly high price. My friend also told me that on certain week days they have a student lunch deal where you can get any burger and a drink for 5 pounds.

Amazing food even though the place is a bit small in terms of how many people it can accommodate at a time but if you like meats beyond beef , lamb or chicken, this place always has adventurous stuff for you to try. I had my first crocodile experience here and also tried the kangaroo.

I can also recommend the burgers, lamb chops and steaks I have had here on my various visits.

The sides are great as well, the onion rings are to die for. The staff is good too, sometimes the food takes a while to reach you, but I guess that is cos it is a small place.

Besides that, I think it is reasonably priced and has better steaks than the overrated Tinsel Town (Farringdon). Hidden gem.

The Greedy American and Wagyu burgers were AMAZING and the onion rings are gigantic (a meal in itself)! Even our little one was loving her chicken burger and fries! We also loved that they offer a "bespoke" burger that you can tailor to your taste! mmm.

Well priced with a nice selection of cocktails. I had pulled lamb burger on a bed of beets with salad instead of a bun My daughter had lamb chops surrounded with mushrooms on a bed of leaves. Our sides were truffle chips and macaroni cheese. Delicious. Well worth a visit. Seating in or out. Will visit again.

We ordered the Sirloin Steak cooked to our preference (Medium Rare). There were no over powering sauces or additives to the steak which I appreciated. Though you can order extra sauces. The truffle fries was amazing and the mac and cheese was creamy with very nice panko bread crumbs on top (could have done with a strong cheddar or a fried stringy cheese for that extra oomph. But overall it was amazing. Sadden that the restaurant is now just a kitchen and quite hard to find at first. But it was a nice adventure. The service was great and the chef took their time to discuss the food and also delivered the food to us outside in The Oval (an open space area, that must be nice during a busy day) Would definitely recommend and I definitely would check out their other offerings on the menu.
