AN ABSOLUTE TREAT!

We were seated on the top floor all by ourselves. The servers were lovely and we felt very looked after.

We are big foodies and ordered some mega sandwiches and pancake stacks.
We had:
The red velvet cake pancake stack
Apple pie
Breakfast club sandwich
Grilled chicken sandwich

Firstly everything was tasty! The portions were great. And it wasn’t expensive for what you got.
Obviously the pancakes stole the show visually but for me the Apple pie was so homely and well done. I’ve been in Australia for a year and this made me feel like I was very much back home.

The sandwiches were stacked! And very tasty. Both had the right balance of sauces, bread and fillings.

Would definitely go back!

*Top Picks* - Award winning pancakes, smoothies

Polo is a cosy all-night café serving home cooked food, conveniently located opposite Liverpool street station. It’s a fresh alternative to burgers and fries after a late night in the city, whether you want to eat in or take-away.

It may look tiny at first but it runs up a few floors so do be sure to beg, plead or just ask for a table. As a bonus, you can carry on the party inside by adding a few drinks to your meal, as they serve alcohol all night too. Don’t expect a wide variety but it’s enough to lift your spirit! It definitely lifted ours and saved us from eating out in the freezing cold.

If you've made it till sunrise (or have woken up for breakfast), you are in for a treat. We dug in to their award winning fluffy American pancakes, traditional English breakfast and their detox smoothies to keep us going for the rest of the day. The fry up was a no brainer but the pancakes were bang on. Evidence - we licked the plate clean.

Having been here both before sunrise and before sunset, I definitely prefer the sunny side up. The service is a bit tardy but one thing is guaranteed, you will not leave here hungry!

The next time you cringe at the thought of queueing up for ages when someone mentions Breakfast Club, save the day (and some money) by giving Polo a go!

I have to start from toilets because I love them very much! :) Very original and spatial. Worth seeing. Food is ok. Nice burgers with black bread and very tasty hot brownie with ice cream. Place is quite narrow but still worth visiting.

This place is famous for pancakes. Now, I don't know if this is because it's hard to find places that do pancakes or places that do them well, but it won't dissapoint. If you're a hungry one like myself, the American breakfast is a delicious must! Eggs, sausages, pancakes and syrup, wow. Add black pudding on the side and give me a call :D

Just over a month ago, it was Shrove Tuesday in the UK. Many establishments have been preparing for their own pancake challenge. Polo Bar in Liverpool Street created a monstrous challenge of 10 pancake stack to be eaten in 10 minutes. I’ve been past Polo Bar opposite Liverpool Street for many years and always turned a blind eye thinking it was just another greasy spoon café. Little did I know it is a real gem in the big smoke in this city of London and the added bonus of being open 24 hours just like Duck and Waffle around the corner.

After a night out boozing around the city, we were hungry. We had missed KFC and did not feel like making our way to our respective hoods to procure kebabs. We were in the Trading House and a city drinker overheard our despair. He told us about Polo Bar, a local late night food haunt over a couple of floors offering decent food into the early hours. Yes, our prayers had been answered.

We headed on down to Liverpool Street and literally across the road from its entrance, there was Polo. You have options here, you can buy to go. Choose from massively filled hot dogs and much more, or you can get seated on one of the floors via a skinny staircase.

We were put on the 2nd floor which already had other hungry revelers. We sat, perused the menu and were impressed with the offering although a little anxious about what would actually turn up to your table once ordered. Pranvera ordered ribs and damn they were big. This portion is not for the faint-hearted and even being hungry at this time of night, I think this is definitely a dish which could be shared.

I went for steak which came with breaded mushrooms and onions on a pile of chips. Her ribs came with sweet potato chips and a gorgeous BBQ sauce. Considering this was quite late night, I was impressed with the standard of service and food. It was also not massively expensive to compensate for the inconvenient hours these poor folk have to work.

I liked Polo and if I am ever in the area again in need of a twilight food injection, this will be my spot of choice

I've been to Polo Bar a few times, since it's so convenient and is open 24hrs.

The food is pretty good generally - great burgers, great chicken in a basket, decent shakes. My favourite dish though is the Welsh Rarebit. The seeded granary bread is a good choice and the tomato chutney works really well with the multi cheese topping. A really good light bite.

On my last visit I opted for a poached egg on top and was disappointed to find the egg way overcooked.

It's a good choice for a convenient meeting place near Liverpool St, although service can sometimes be slow. But generally not too bad.

Oh and they do pretty good cakes.

This place is great! 24 hours in the heart of London is the place to be when your tispy and you need substanence to absorb the liquid courage or a place to go for lunch with family or friends. The staff are friendly and attentive, always smiling and asking you about your day.
When i'm there for a snack with my mates, we always order to portions of cheesy chips ( with real cheese) and a large pot of tea, with is fantastically priced and had about 6 servings.
The vegie burger was okay - my bun was a little overdone and it was on a small side which is a shame because the portion of the cheesy cheaps are very decent.
Whenever I go there, I always have fun, the music they play is cheerful and the atmostphere is perfect!
I definetly recommend this place to anyone who is passing by or wants to go out for a lunch time meal with their friends. Next time I am going to try their deserts because they look too tempting :)

Have you ever dreamed of eating a full on stacked burger with dirty chips and a pint for breakfast? No me either, but if that is your cup of tea then I have just the place for you. After weeks of exploring the best of London's breakfasts I can say I'm a little bored (ouch, sorry if that's harsh!) of the regular menu offerings. I'm craving something truly unique on a breakfast menu that blows everyone else out of the water. Well Polo 24 Hour Bar certainly seems to promise that; with a 24 hour menu and open bar you can stuff your face or drown your sorrows in the comfort of a truly British location.

We arrived around 15 minutes early to the Bishopsgate hothouse and were advised to walk around the area until our table was ready. Despite the horrendous rain and hangovers both Alex and I were sporting (Hey! It's Christmas) we actually appreciated the little walk before sitting down to our huge breakfast. The staff were friendly and quick to seat us in the tiled booth at the back of the restaurant.

Situated in the heart of The City, the Polo Bar is the loved home of every Londoner. From the bank manager to the local plumber, the classic cream teas and filling fry-ups this classic British cafe has everything any Londoner could ever wish for. And best of all it's served around the clock. Owned by Phillip Inzani (former Director of Ponti's) and designed by Mark Wilkie of The Narrative creative agency, Polo 24 is a pure essence of London style. With banquette seating and tiled walls, the cafe is my sort of London hang out - urban yet underground.

Polo 24 is a glorified working man's caff, and has a truly Old London feel. Our booth was constructed just from tiles and there were wooden and metal details throughout the room. The cafe was bustling and full of happy (slightly hungover) people, which gave the experience a really positive feel. There are newspapers available to read, and each table has sauces, paper napkins and sturdy metal cutlery. The menu is, obviously, packed full of dishes. From steak and chips which our next-door-diner was tucking in to, to a full afternoon tea you can literally choose anything you want. Amazing right?

We ordered the festive breakfast from the specials menu, eggs with bacon and bubble & squeak, extra toast, extra hash browns, a pineapple and mango smoothie and a smooth, creamy flat white. Clearly we were all for stuffing ourselves full!
My mango and pineapple smoothie was refreshing and healthy - clearly feeling guilty for breakfast - and had a thick texture. Alex's flat white comforted his very sad head and had a smooth finish.

With the smell of bacon permeating the air better than any room spray I've ever known, we couldn't wait for our breakfasts to arrive. However, I wasn't quite expecting the portion that arrived. Overflowing with meats, vegetables and carbs this plate was a full on meal. The gammon steak was perfectly cooked and not too thick, and complimented the sweet beans and red onions that came with it. This concoction of traditional baked beans and sweet, caramlised red onions was something I didn't think would work but really amped up the plates flavour. The bubble and squeak I had was rammed with potato, peas and cabbage which, in my opinion, was healthy. It's vegetables!

Of course there were the more traditional fry up essentials such as the actually perfect fried egg. The gloriously runny yolk provided even more sauce for the roasted tomato which was sumptuous and sweet, and together with the crispy hash browns I got a forkful of savoury-sweet yumminess. Oh - the festive breakfast also had stuffing and cranberry sauce which was Christmassy and added even more flavour.

Alex's bacon and bubble was also a real treat. His plate was, like mine, rammed with tasty foodie goodies - soft bacon, delicately poached eggs, thick hollandaise sauce, roasted tomatoes and bubble and squeak. The bubble and squeak was surprisingly light and made a great alternative to the usually English muffin used with eggs Royale (which is what this dish is inspired by). His eggs were soft and delicate with a runny yolk for even more sauce that complimented the hollandaise. The salty bacon worked its magic in the dish, giving a tangy finish.

Open late night, Polo Bar is a great alternative for a greasy donner kebab. Although it is slightly pricey, the food is of good quality and semi healthy. I like the salmon sandwich with wholewheat bread, however the chicken strips are also great if you're looking for something more indulgent.

Overall, being situated close to my flat, Polo Bar is a great place to stop by after a night out, and the healthy food is always a plus point. Also, the friendly and helpful staff go a long way!

Unusual design that's 24 hours so good for getting food if you have to wait for the trains to start running. Your money will go further here compared to other eats in the area.  They're known to do good breakfast, but I had the Philly cheese steak sandwich, also good.

Let's be honest if your looking for an exquisite foodie dining experience this is not the place for you. However if your looking for a good breakfast or carb fest at 2am this is the place. Service is good, food is hot and it's open 24 hours, what more could you want?

We had the Philly cheese steak, cheese and bacon chips and tea.

Fica em Liverpool Street. O local é agradável. A comida é feita na hora. A relação qualidade/preço é bastante boa. Provei o Polo Burguer com queijo e as batatas doces. Estava óptimo, um misto de fast food com comida caseira. Quanto ao staff é bastante simpático (há portugueses) e o serviço é rápido.

The place is just fine. The food is made in front of our eyes. I tried the Polo cheeseburger and the sweet potatoes. Very tastefull! Is fast food with a pinch of homecooking. Very good quality/price relation. The staff is really nice and the service is quick.

Sometimes the best kept secrets really are in plain sight. Take this, a greasy little cafe right in the busiest part of Bishopsgate. Of all the years I've visited and even worked in the area I have never before even noticed the place.

Which sucks, because it really is a neat little gem. Okay, there's not much for those with restrictive halal diets, but the fish and veg options are pretty good (what can possible top a smoked salmon sandwich? Why, a fish finger sandwich, that's what), the service decent and the vibe top notch. It a great place to catch up with friends - there's not much to distract you from the company you're with.

And most surprisingly it wasn't even unreasonable value, with two sandwiches, drinks and a shared dessert all coming to £12.25 which is pretty unbeatable in my book. Totally recommended.

Great place just across the road from Liverpool Street station. Looks a bit dodgy from outside but it is really nice and cosy inside. You sit in semi-secluded areas, and the card is extremely varied. We had fish&chips, Cajun chicken wrap and a vegan club. All was good. Only mines was that the wrap was served to the table 15 minutes before the other two dishes… such a shame as it makes you a bit annoyed… All in all a good place with fair prices.

One of the best berry pancakes I’ve had in my entire life. Went there twice in the space of 1 week. One of my new pancakes favourite spot now. Eggs florentine and english breakfast was also good. Had a great experience the first time with impeccable service on ground floor. The second time, I personally didn’t like the service. I felt the waitress Beatriz was making fun of us (on the first floor) behind our back simply because we asked for an extra mug for tea and an extra plate to share our meal. I paid the discretionary service charge but what’s the point if you can’t even be respected as a customer. Anyway the pancakes still deserve to be lauded!

Great spot for a quick, hearty and reasonably priced feed. I grabbed the philly cheese steak, which was a generous amount of steak and cheese topped on a brioche roll and was full of flavour. Mate had a fish singer sandwich which he enjoyed! They've been open since 1959 so must be doing something right.. it's also 24 hours!

The food was great and the prices are pretty fair for London. Portion sizes for the pancakes are huge and the challenges are ridiculous. The breakfasts are high quality. Milkshakes I would say are not worth the money however as they are very thin and taste like a couple of Oreo’s have been blended in milk. Theres no thickness or texture.

Perfect place for brunch with friends, conveniently located in front of Liverpool Street so easily reachable by all my friends who live scattered around London. Food is amazing - and the pancakes are a must. Milly, our waitress, was a true delight, super attentive and extra friendly.

Great for a midnight meal right up until anytime - it really is 24/7. Service was quick and personable. Food is obviously greasy but it’s advertised as good grub; a lot cheaper than duck and waffle down the road which comes with greater waiting times and has unfortunately not delivered a great deal in past visits. Recommend the Philly cheese dog and loaded chips; though there were many options that others got and enjoyed sober (such as their chicken wings). Definitely worth a visit after a night out in Shoreditch/city/London Bridge.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE FOR THOSE THAT ARE TRAVELING! This is my fiancé and my second time here this week. Between the service and the food our experience has been nothing but phenomenal! Our waiters have been inviting and was sure to check on us to be sure that we are doing well. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality and excellent service! We will definitely be back if we find ourselves in London :)
