Food always on the top. The masala fish always loved by my family i think there is no better Indian restaurant then mirch masala.
Recommended to all food lover.
If you order the right things, this ranks as a top-rated (authentic) budget Indian restaurant in West London. Menu is simple, and well explained. Our favourites include - Masala Tawa Fish, Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Tikka (not masala), Railway Mutton, Laal Maas, Dhaba Murgh, Dal Makhani, Kulfi (dessert). For veg, Paneer Potli Masala is not a bad choice. For butter chicken lovers, the Chooza Khas Makhni falls a bit short of expectations, so can be avoided.. the Dhaba Murgh is a much better option and our all-time favourite. The decor is hard-core Indian (Rajhasthani mostly) and has some quirky vintage (traditional) bits. The staff is friendly..make sure you get your spice sorted while ordering.
This restaurant can be an easy choice on the Chiswick high street which is full of choices. The ambience is made to look like an Indian street market with all Indian origin products on display (parachute oil, Dabur lal tel, himalaya products, vicco toothpastes). There is even an auto rickshaw kept on display which is good to start stories about India if you are going with non-indians. They even serve cocktails which are indianised such as black pepper strawberry, chilli martini and so on. We tried the black pepper strawberry martini and it tasted nice and refreshing. We ordered kebabs which were nice but very spicy. Do check the spice levels before you order. The red mutton curry was the highlight of our dinner, it was extremely delicious. The usuals pilau rice, popadams and chutneys are usual similar to the ones you get in any Indian restaurant. Worth a visit for the mutton curry and the ambience. Service is satisfactory.
As far as the food goes it's the most authentic taste of India I had so far. The ambient is cosy and relaxing.
Tip: the fried Bindi is amazing!
The staff will go out of their way to make you feel welcome in this Indian dine-in. The food's very good and plentiful. The one complaint I have, as I do with many other Indian joints, is the lack of choice in desserts. All else works well.
A couple of years ago I visited a remarkable Indian restaurant in Hammersmith. Potli isn’t posh, it’s the kind of place you’d like to find round the corner from where you live, somewhere to pop in on a regular basis. It is, however, very different. What makes it remarkable is the selection of regional Indian market food – the sort of dishes you’d find in India if you went off the beaten track a bit (or like me, when I visited Chennai, had a local guide who will take you away from the tourist places). Potli serves the market food of India. Not necessarily the dishes that your mother would have cooked but the ones you might find in an Indian bazaar. It is fun, relaxed and quirky, though to navigate the menu properly you need to understand the geography of India rather better than I do.
The Travelling Tikki
+4.5
Potli was recommended to us by a friend who runs her own restaurant in London and who couldn’t speak highly enough of it, so we decided to catch up for dinner with our partners. That was our first visit (a couple of years ago) and we’ve been back twice since. That says a lot, since I don’t usually like revisiting restaurants given there are so many to try out in London and new ones sprouting everyday!
Easily the best Indian Restaurant in London. Every single dish has an authentic taste unlike all the other restaurants who use 2-3 common sauces to cook the curries.
The staff a friendly and will be happy to recommend the best dish and I bet they wont disappoint you.
Closest to Authentic North west frontier food.
It was such a lovey time we had at potli the staff is very nice the food is fantastic and plus it's not that expensive as well 2 people can eat for £40 . The restaurant manager is very nice too Bharat knows exactly what you would like . thank u so much for making it so special
This is simply the BEST Indian food I have ever tasted. Went here purely because my other half likes Indian food. I am not so keen. Was very pleasantly surprised. Excellent service, excellent food. Would recommend 100%.
I really, really miss street food of India and potly somehow fills the void. The street food here is much better than what I have eaten at other curry houses. Be it samosa, bhel-puri, aloo tikki chole - they make it very well. Their portions are quite huge, we usually order 2-3 starters and share among 4-5 people.
Their dal is seriously amazing. I find a lot of Indian restaurants in London not doing a good job at dal, but this one gets it right. Even the biryani and peshawari naan is very authentic and delicious.
They have a bar too, but I usually head straight to the dining room. For the food it serves, the prices are well-worth.
p.s: Apparently they serve "hiran (deer) lal mans (red meat)", a very spicy and royal Rajasthani dish, I am not sure how they get deer meat though.
Absolutely fantastic, Michelin recommended and it shows in quality and service.
We had the boar vindaloo and railway mutton curry and both were fantastic. That said the mutton wasn't actually mutton but rather lamb chunks. Still delicious.
I can't say enough how good the service is, staff is quick and professional while still seeming at ease and friendly.
Definitely would recommend to a friend.
The servers were incredibly attentive and the food was out of this world!! Would highly recommend the samosas and the Railway Mutton Curry! The spice levels were absolutely perfect.
This restaurant had great food and great staff. The waiter was attentive and made sure we got everything we needed. At one point the chef came out and asked every table how the food was and to answer any questions.
We had a number of dishes to share around our group, my personal favourite was the lamb coconut fry. What made this better was a decent Indian white wine we swallowed throughout the meal.
Would recommend and giving it 4 stars until I go back and try different items on the menu. Then it’s most likely a 5 star.
Authentic Taste! Great options on the menu. Food is flavourful and true to Indian taste. The pricing is more like a fine dine but worth it for someone craving for Indian spices. The seating is a bit cozy and the place can be full on meal time and on weekends hence reservation is recommended. Overall a must try in West London!!
Liked the ambience, decorations and music. Service was prompt. Also liked the revolving table tops. The food tastes good. Very authentic Indian cuisine, not a watered down version of the originals but the real deal. Tried various dishes- starters, main course, dessert. All the dishes were fine and portions were good for all items except panipuri.
But it is rather expensive. For some, it might not seem adequate value for money. But if it suits your budget, then it's a good restaurant to visit.
The food is amazing.Everything is great. The atmosphere teleports you to India. Ash the manager is very friendly and knowledgeable about the food.
The food was so delicious, fresh, portions just right and quick and lovely service. Space outside allowed us to enjoy nice summer evening. We will definitely come back!
Superb. One of those rarities where 5 stars on Google isn’t enough.
We went on a weekday evening to celebrate a birthday. It was a real pleasure throughout. The staff were welcoming and friendly as you’d expect, but the little extra touches made such a difference.
Our server explained in detail several off menu starter options which we took and were truly impressed. The table was wiped frequently. The drinking water was flavoured with cucumber and our glasses refilled without asking. Attentive, warm and pleasant service without being intrusive. Perfect.
We had four different vegetarian curries between us, with slight adaptations for two of us. All were top class and probably the best we’ve ever tasted.
As a surprise they brought out a small chocolate mousse with a candle on for the birthday celebrant and we all sang along.
At £25 a head for three courses plus a drink each it was great value. Service is 12.5%, but we added more because it was so worth it.
Truly a gem of a restaurant.
Food was very tasty with brilliant service on top.
The wild boar vindaloo was perfect!
Set in a nice and cosy venue, Potli is a great place for authentic Indian food packed with flavour. The prawn masala is super rich and the sauce is one you won’t forget in a hurry. The dal makani is creamy and spicy in equal measure while the chicken masala has a super rich and tasty gravy. The naan’s are crunchy and fluffy to help you mop up everything.
