Think Peruvian tapas, lots of small plates of explosive flavours that are both sweet and salty. The pork belly is the best I’ve ever had and the ceviche is super fresh and punchy. Very good cocktail menu, friendly staff and delicious roasted corn/peanuts on the table to start.
We started off with the pork belly, and I nearly fainted. The fatty fat chunks melted as soon as they hit my tongue, and I had to hold on to the table for dear life. How? How is this possible?! I was in heaven. Heaven is on Charlotte Street.
I have a confession to make about Peruvian restaurants; until a couple of years ago, I had no idea that Peruvian cuisine had become so popular in London. Asked to attend a Pisco Sour evening in one on Frith Street, I bowled into the first Peruvian restaurant that I came to on Frith Street and told the rather bemused maitre’d that I was there on behalf of London-Unattached for a review. After a little confusion and consultation, we were sat at the bar and duly poured some Pisco Sours which we enjoyed with bar snacks, whilst looking at the rather fabulous cookbook. I checked my emails and went cold – we were in the wrong place, we were, in fact, due in another Peruvian restaurant 2 doors away. Trying not to look too obvious, we thanked everyone, left, and turned up at the second place in time for a tour of the kitchen and another Pisco Sour. So when an invitation to review the Senor Ceviche arrived I was careful to check the address. I was hoping that there wouldn’t be the same room for error on Charlotte Street.
Randomly walked in here as we walked past and the menu caught our eye. We ordered the:
Calamares
Pork belly
Pork ribs
Flat iron steak
Patates
Beans
Really enjoyed my steak it was cooked to perfection. I can't fault the meal at all and would definitely go again. I also forgot to mention the yummy dessert I had and cocktails which I have included pictures of. Let's put it this way, there was nothing left on our plates.
As we didn't book a table and walked in from the street we were greeted very friendly and seated almost immediately. The service was excellent, waiter answered any questions we had. Definitely would recommend this place if you are in the local area.
I had bottomless brunch here. The food was incredible! I would highly recommend the ribs, the pork belly and feta pastry, the creme brulée and of course the ceviche. The staff were also very friendly and kept the mimosas coming with a smile 😊
Stunning !!! Such lively fresh bright flavours... the atmosphere is friendly and buzzing... the staff are genuine, attentive, professional yet warm and charming. The flavours of the food are electrifying... as are the textures... I had a delightful chilli margarita.... it's a warm kick in the soul! LOVE this place. It's pricey for a "meal" as the plates are small... but incredible things come in small packages and I believe the price to be right given the produce, quality, excellence, location and experience. Bravo guys!!!
What i loved most here was the different flavours and pleasant service. The ceviche clasico was decent but not interesting enough, also small. We had the pork ribs, tender, tasty and good value - enough to share if you're not a big Eater. Also quinoa salad, light on the quinoa but flavorful. Charred cabbage was lovely and crisp. Finally the beef heart nicely presented with a black olive sauce. Prices were medium high for London, with the sides typically highly priced for their size. We had a 50% soft launch offer, which soothed the total bill of almost £50. I'd visit again,i think
Would have got 5 stars except for the beef heart (drenched in oil and with the strangest combination of pickled onions and a bizarre purée) and the desserts, which were mediocre at best. The gyoza, calamari, tiradito and sweet potato fries were excellent; scallop was good but way too expensive for the portion size (single scallop), and the tiradito was tiny. However the service was excellent, despite a busy period. A bit pricier than I’d have liked but very good nonetheless.
Señor Ceviche has one of the best tapas/small plates around London so far. Very tasty, excellent service with huge explanation about the menu. The plates are medium size so you don't end up with the feeling that you've been overcharged for what you eat. Special mention to the pork belly, excellent! The Ceviches were very tasty as well, fresh, perfect for a hot night and with chillies kick but not overwhelming the flavour. Enjoy!
First time visiting a Peruvian restaurant, the food was amazing, a real mix of Mexican Spanish and Japanese.
when you walk in the decor really does make you feel invited, we sat upstairs on the balcony area, very good atmosphere.
Our waiter was really helpful and friendly, food came out really quick and the drinks selection is great. I would recommend the cabbage salad... it was delicious. And for desert we had the Pisco Espresso Martini... lush.
Incredible food, definitely one of the best meals of my life! Service was very very slow at times but it was a Friday night and they were super busy.
Everything was perfectly presented, the drinks were incredible! Just loved it.
All the dishes were amazing, fresh zingy ceviche bursting with flavour, the best cabbage I’ve ever had full of flavours and texture - sweet, savoury, crunchy, smooth, spicy - perfection. The Pisco Sours were also delectable, and the Art Deco, cosy interior was just so perfect. The only reason it doesn’t get full marks is because it’s slightly on the expensive side - but Monday’s they have Sours and Ceviche for £5!
We had enjoyed our food here. All was lovely except the portions here are tiny. The vibe is vibrant and lively here. Would definitely come back.
