Amazing place in London. I love the food. can’t wait to come back here again. Congratulations to the staff.
The go to Japanese joint in the area. The sushi is always freshly prepared, served with the help of a really nice and friendly staff and punctual service as well.
Absolutely wonderful place that serves delicious varieties of food items and filling platters that are beautifully presented and appetising presentations. Prices are reasonable, hygienic conditions are optimal and staff is friendly and helpful top.
This is probably one of the best places I've ever eaten at. We ordered a variety of dishes to taste and they were all amazingly delicious. Their cocktails looked boring and The Wasabi Mule was a bit of a let down.
Great food! Definitely worth trying out for fans of Japanese cuisine. Ending with green tea ice creams highly recommended ;) I will come back while visiting London next time.
Excellent food. Very polite and attentive service. As far as I am concerned the lounge is a better place to eat than the main restaurant. There is always crowd at the bar..at least it is been so for the last 12 years. Overall highly recommended.
Great sushi in a very cool location. The service was outstanding. All of the fish was extremely fresh and the toro was fantastic!
Visit it once😎
This is one my favourite restaurant and have been there so many times. Unique taste food and exclusive too. Music was perfect. Food was excellent and atmosphere was buzzy.
I’ve tried some amazing fish all over London, and I came across the best. Seafood lovers, The Black Cod and The Grilled Sea Bass is a must for you. The taste is an out of the world experience in itself. A definite recommend.
Overall, this place deserves more than 5 stars. ✨
10/10 Ambience
10/10 Music
10/10 Cocktails
And 💯 for the amazing food 💫

Excellent service , excellent food.
Fresh sushi, fabulous champagne.
The chicest atmosphere and brilliant clientele.
This place has become one of my favourites.
Brilliant atmosphere.
Can say no wrong about this place.
If you like good food and good ambiance you will love it here! Very European.
My fav place in london for having mouthwatering asian dishes and cocktails whenever i visit here...the steamed beans, zuma salad, skewers of beef and chicken, tempuras , maki and grilled salmon are my favs...the variety of wines are nice and cocktails are amazing...my only comment would be the closeness of tables together that somehow could bother ur privacy...overall its a great place to be..
Experience explosion! Zuma is so hip and trendy...going for dinner here makes you want to start the evening with a good meal and then head out for some dancing! I was all by my lonesome so got to sit at the sushi bar without a reservation. The soft shell crab with the wasabi is recommended. It’s deep fried (of course) so if a bit of greasiness is not for you, try the sashimi! Their fish is so fresh you want to eat it uncooked. For main I had the salmon with a side of sweet potatoes. The salmon was done so perfectly that it melted at the touch of my chopsticks! Have you ever! I had to have dessert and the cheesecake just did it for me...red velvet cake wrapped in this creamy cheesy mouse and complimented with a sweetly chilled raspberry sorbet. And if a bit more sweetness and crunch is needed there were chips of crunchy meringue to end a superb dish off! Service was great. A new favorite spot for me in London!
Outstanding restaurant, this has been the best sushi and Asian food I had ever. It's simply exquisite, perfect sushi the main dishes are to die for perfect blend of flavours. I was extremely impressed by the staff who describe you the food with such passion and poetry that makes the experience out of reality and unforgettable. Strongly advised.
This is undoubtedly my favorite restaurant ever!
It's worth every penny as the food, ambiance, and service are second to none.
Yes it's expensive, but I'm never disappointed here. When I'm in London for business or pleasure, I never want to miss this place.
Thank you team Zuma!
Every dish at Zuma is a superb experience! All the Sashimi plates, Blackened Cod, Tuna, crispy Calamari with chilli & lime is exquisite!!!
We have been to eat on numerous occasions and as yet have never had a bad meal.
The kitchen, waiting staff and hosting team all make the eating experience one of the best in London.
I love London; well who doesn't. Knightsbridge is pretty special and I managed to visit Zuma several times whilst here. There was a certain cool buzz about about this place, which was always busy. Professional, friendly staff throughout and a truly memorable place to dine. The highlight was seeing Gwyneth Paltrow and her then partner Chris Martin walk out, jump into their mini and zoom off. Life styles of the rich and famous. :)
Amazing!! 🌟🌟🌟 however it is HIGHLY recommended for you to book a table first, since the place is always crowded both on weekdays and weekends. They also have bars which makes it a cool place to chill and just drinks the night away 🍸

Zuma London.
My favorite restaurant in london
Fresh sushi
Tasty sashimi
Delicious desserts
Amazing staff
Great service
Incredibly delicious! The atmosphere is very nice, the staff is very helpful and friendly being professional at the same time. The food is another story! We ordered sea bass sashimi, yellow tail sashimi, shrimp sashimi, lobster sashimi, soft shell crab, eggplant and sweet potato robata, chicken, beef, salmon, tuna... and they were all extremely tasty! The desert is really great as well not to miss the sundae and chocolate fondant! My favorite place so far!

I simply love it! For me a must at lunch during the week, and very nice at the end of the day to have a drink! The food is very good, with amazing presentation and a very professional service!
Food was absolutely brilliant, we had the big tasting menu so got to taste loads of different dishes. Service was great too, however only until we were supposed to leave the table at scheduled time SHARP. Waiters kept coming and chasing us away although we still had our glasses full with drinks. Not very nice taking into account the HUGE bill we had at the end of the evening (we were a party of nine).

Excellent foooooooooooood yummmmmmyy everything tastes really good loved it !! Can't stop eating. The salmon sashimi, salmon mako rolls and spicy yellow tail, fried sole 😋😋😋😋
I absolutely love Zuma. A common misconception is that it's ridiculously expensive, but it's very reasonable. About £50-70 per person.
I would recommend the chilli lobster, ebi tempura sushi roll, spider crab sushi roll, alaskan King crab sushi roll, sweetcorn popcorn, miss baby chicken, sesame and chilli beef.amd for dessert, the banana cake.
If you know you're going I'm advance, then book. But you can just walk in and sit at the sushi bar, you may have to wait 30 minutes at the bar, but trust me it's worth the wait
Amazing place, friendly staff and tasty food.
The black cod was so delicious... and tried the yuzu cheescake for the desserts.
Always crowded, the reservation is a must.
Definitely recommended during your visit to London.
Went here for lunch and i gotta say it was a great experience. We tried the raw seabass, yellowtail and tuna and it was lovely. For main course, we ordered wagyu beef sirlion(unfortunately the beef was underseasoned), the black cod and the pork was delicious, and the desert was the best ones (we ordered eton mess and banana cake).
Very good ... Service was excellent ... The food delicious especially the black cod , eggplant and the sushi....we also had amazing deserts which was expected ... V refreshing and quite different ...
Yum! I love zuma! So good and fresh! Also a great atmosphere for drinks with friends. Its in a prime location. You need to back abit in advance to find places but i would say its worth it, after all it is Zuma!
Let me get one small detail out of the way first: I work for the group. However, this fact by no means weighs in on how I feel about ZUMA. In fact, it was my love for this restaurant that made me want to join the company in the first place. You can say what you want about ZUMA. Yes, it can be a little scene-y. And yes, it is now essentially an international chain. But at the end of the day, it is good. Very good. [I think so, anyway].
If expertly crafted nigiri is what you are after, you would probably be better off looking towards places that specialise in sushi making (think along the lines of Sushi Tetsu, Yashin or Ikeda!). ZUMA is more akin to a high-end Japanese izakaya, meaning an informal drinking establishment that serves food.
Don’t get me wrong, the rolls and the nigiri are just fine. And definitely go in expecting a fantastic selection of super fresh, expertly sliced sashimi. But where the place really shines is in its array of fantastic small dishes from the kitchen – my personal favourites being some of the cold carpaccio style dishes…namely the thinly sliced semi-fatty tuna with chilli, coriander and sesame; and the thinly sliced seabass with yuzu, truffle oil and salmon roe.
The robata grill is another focus of the menu and definitely worth exploring. I can never go past the roasted lobster with green chilli and garlic hojiso butter – it is addictively good. I also absolutely love the grilled Chilean seabass with green chilli and ginger dressing.
London has a growing number of Japanese restaurants and I have become rather picky in terms of those I like and those I am not so keen on. I am a creature of habit, so a quick flick through my Instagram feed will show you my favourites! ZUMA is a place I carry a soft spot for and one of the few that has me consistently coming back.
Every time I visit this place I have a pleasant experience. From great sakes to great foods and a vibrant atmosphere. Whenever I want to treat myself Zuma is a nice place to do so.
Mr S isn’t someone who gets excited about his birthday, but that’s ok cos I get excited enough for both of us! I love birthdays, and mine can stretch out for weeks and weeks though Mr S is happy for his to be over after the actual day. We loved celebrating last year at City Social and this year I decided to book us into one of longstanding favourites: Zuma. The restaurant was really busy when we arrived and we headed to the bar for a few drinks first…The birthday boy started the night with a rubabu, rhubarb infused sake with Cape North vodka and passionfruit. Zuma actually serve 40 different sakes – pretty impressive!I can’t really handle sake so I started with a glass of champagne. I was excited to be wearing a new dress for the occasion, I love the scalloped edging around the neckline and it was the perfect LBD for such a glamorous restaurant. As you can see, the restaurant was heaving with a buzzy open kitchen, cool rough granite walls, light wood and lots of sparkly glass. Zuma has been open for 12 years but it hasn’t lost any of its polish. The interior is as chic and shiny as ever and people still flock to the Knightsbridge restaurant to sample the menu of delicious Japanese food. A couple of year ago I spotted Gary Barlow at the bar, but there were no such exciting celebrity sightings tonight! We nibbled on some edamame beans while we read the menu, and I quickly ordered up a bottle of champers to toast Mr S’s special day. I ordered a Billecart-Salmon Extra Brut to celebrate. It’s a zero dosage champagne which means no extra sugar has been added meaning it has a beautifully dry flavour that pairs well with the sushi and has the added benefit of being fewer calories! There’s an option of going for a tasting menu at Zuma but as we’ve been a few times before we have a few favourites that we stick to. Starting with sliced seared tuna with chilli daikon and ponzu sauce. I can’t even begin to describe the wonderful flavours and textures of the sashimi, everything at Zuma is just of the highest quality. If you didn’t know, Zuma is actually the sister restaurant of one of the my other favourites, Roka, which now has four branches in London. There’s only one Zuma in London, but the restaurant has gone international with branches across the world including Miami, Hong Kong and Istanbul. Our next cold dish was one that we always order at Japanese restaurants sliced yellow tail with green chilli relish, ponzu and pickled garlic. And perfectly prepared jewels of seared beef with soy, ginger, lime and coriander. Our sushi choices were spicy tuna with homemade chilli miso and yuzu tobiko. And salmon, avocado with some delicious spicy wasabi.
*Alcohol Notice* all their soy sauce has alcohol in it for some reason that I don't quite understand (neither do my Chinese friends). Asked them for non-alcoholic soy sauce but they didn't have it.
I liked the place and the food they served. The maki rolls were amazing 😊! Totally recommend the place (only problem is the soy sauce. I hope they consider getting non-alcoholic soy sauce)
I was quite excited before I go to Zuma due the one in Istanbul is literally amazing!
I was really disappointed with the food. The tables were too close to each other that I felt like I was dining with the table next to us.
Zuma is world class and one who has been there need no reviews or comments.
London Zuma was different from Dubai or Bangkok.
Not too many choices for vegetarians - only Sushi platter and Maki roll !
Desserts were worth trying !!
One In our favourite restaurant in London, sushi are amazing as all the rest of the food, but of course 😊 being London, it is a tiny bit expensive!!! But well worth it... Have a good day... And as always Flat Eric...
Great restaurant. A definitely must taste! My first time, hopefully not the last. I ordered the "signature menu" and experienced a very tasteful experience through the Japanese cuisine, from classic sushi to the delicious grilled dishes. Top fish, top meat and top Sake (Zuma's own brand - 5 stars). Don't miss it.
It's a good thing zuma is known for their food. I have to say I was disappointed with the location ( it's hidden ) the decoration was not good either, I had other expectations especially comparing it to the same restaurant but in other places such as Dubai.
The food however was amazing. The staff was kind and helpful trying to explain how the dishes are cooked and served. I think this is a restaurant where you go just to say you had experience it.
Zuma is a great night out - delicious contemporary Japanese food and a trendy atmosphere. Despite the buzzing atmosphere, the acoustics in the restaurant area are great so you don't have to yell across slightly oversized tables. The sushi bar is first come first serve and great fun to watch the food be prepared so long as there are only 2 or 3 people in your party. Zuma has an exciting menu that is constantly being updated. I love the yellowtail, fatty tuna, the black cod, soft shell crab, wagyu beef and the exotic fruit platter for desert. Also stunning cocktails and inventive bartenders but you'll have to wait to order from the bar. Pricey but you won't be disappointed.
Meh. I had a wide selection of items when I went here: lobster, scallops, wagu beef and some other stuff which I can't fully remember.
My main was wagu beef and at £72 I was expecting to be amazed. But it was OK as far as steaks go but for the price it was absolutely terrible. If I had paid for this meal I'd of certainly complained.
However what I'd definitely say was delicious amazing even was the scallops my god! Wow! Everything else however meh.
Zuma is contemporary and sophisticated Japanese cuisine at its best! Our table enjoyed everything from the sushi and sashimi dishes to the fried langoustines, and their beef is some of the best that I have ever eaten. On a Friday night, this place is buzzing! For me the highlight was the interactive sushi counter and robata grill where you can see the chefs, rather than the main seating area so I will be aiming to sit there on my next visit. *Recommendation: This spot in Knightsbridge is definitely one of those places to dress up for so dress to impress.
Zuma is a stone throw away from Harrods department store in Knightsbridge. It’s tucked away on a side road, so you’re not in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the main street.
The building looks like an old run-down hotel, with a modest restaurant sign. But once you step inside, it’s an entirely different place. The decor is all elegant light wood, very airy, and very luxurious.
Highlights:
- Deep-fried soft shell crab served on a bed of salad, and a side of wasabi mayonnaise. You can’t really go wrong with soft shell crab – here, it’s fried in light batter, each bite is crispy & airy, and goes really well with wasabi mayo. Great start.
- Warm eggplant salad with sweet miso, topped with bonito flakes and served with a side of thinly sliced seaweed. OUT OF THIS WOLD. Eggplants, smeared with miso paste, are grilled (I think) to perfection, and goes so well with bonito flakes.
- Vegetables tempura of pumpkin, green beans, enoki mushrooms, okras, potatoe, asparagus, and capsicum. Perfect batter.
- The STAR OF THE SHOW, the gorgeous, the incredible MISO-FLAVOURED BLACK COD!!! This is the most beautiful piece of fish I’ve ever tasted. The cod is cooked perfectly, the fish meat is very moist, the miso flavour has the right amount of subtlety. You don’t even need the sauce it comes with. Worth. Every. Single. Quid.
- “Bamboo” Earl grey ice cream with kinako cake, served in the coolest dessert design ever. It looks like a pot plant – in the pot is a layer of cake, earl grey ice cream, fresh whipped cream, and crunchy chocolate soil. Great texture combination. Salted caramel sauce comes in a separate bowl, which you pour on. The “tree” branch is actually edible – tastes like plain cookie. The salted caramel was a bit too sweet for us, but otherwise a great dessert.
Incredible food, good service (a bit slow at points, but they were quite busy, so it was understandable), amazing piece of black cod. Food is on a pricey side, but you pay for quality, and bear in mind it is in Knightsbridge.
My favourite restaurant of all time although I am quite biased as Japanese is probably my favourite cuisine.
Great ambience in the restaurant especially if you sit by the kitchen where you can see your food being made!
My favourite dishes are definitely avocado maki rolls, spinach with sesame and chilli squid!
Their cocktails are also fab! I love the lychee one with a rose petal on top :)
Best fish in town! It did not disapoint and I will surely go back. The open kitchen makes the heart of the restaurant surrounded by celebrities.... Yes it is expensive and not for every wallet but worth a treat if you can.
A dear friend of mine organised a celebratory dinner at Zuma last month. We were under strict instruction to arrive on time as the table was booked for a particular time slot, and of course, thus being the dynamic of my group of friends, we all arrived late. Leaving our table for 8 empty for half an hour whilst our host and hostess patiently beckoned by the bar. Nether the less, the restaurant were very accommodating and our table slot was extended.
The cuisine is a typical mixture of Asian fusion, and in the words of my comrade "I'm not sure what this Asian is fused with, but it's ruddy good!"
Sticking with tradition, I allowed everyone to order the food, and focused my attention on the wine list in all its extensive glory.
The entrance, crowded by passive doormen, leads through to a open bar and seating area, with a warm and sophisticated atmosphere. Unlike similar restaurants, such as Tottenham Court Road's Hakkasan, Zuma believes in letting it's patrons see their food. Under their soft, yellow lighting.
Leading to an all together exquisite experience.
Wow. Great buzzing atmosphere. Always seems to be busy which says a lot. Great food and staff
WOW!. By far, one of the best places in London for Japanese food. I've been told they have been here for quite a long time and it is always buzzing. The dishes are delicious and beautifully decorated. Staff are always cheerful. A place to visit for everyone!
Zuma! Excellent!. In my opinion this place is one of the best places in London for an all round innovative Japanese feast!!! The thing with this place is that after several years the atmosphere still buzzes...the beautifully plated dishes of fresh top quality ingredients combine perfectly to explode greatness in the palate...
Zuma is an inventive Japanese restaurant, whose dishes may begin get old but one never tires of eating... a trendy bar at the entrance superb service. The grill offers an alternative for those of you that prefer their food cooked.
A place worth visiting if your budget allows it!
Yumyum. Went to Zuma last week for my birthday. Wow, what a wonderful restaurant! Amazing food...I mean totally mouthwatering stuff!!!
Zuma isn't cheap but in our opinion was worth every penny...will have to save up to go again. Staff were polite and the toilets smelt great, lovely scented candles :) We certainly will be going back.
Go for the bar.... ...around the kitchen, that is; watching the chefs at work whilst chatting and eating is just how an izakaya is supposed to be. The food isn't cheap and you mightn't get vast portions, but the quality is high and the staff, if treated like human beings and not drones, are absolutely wonderful. Some wonderful variations on traditional Japanese fare - certainly worth trying for a special evening out.
Best Japanese in london hands down. If you make sure you ask for chocolate fondan. Not on the menu amazing
Busy. Was taken aback by just how busy is was for a sunday night. We had booked weeks ago and they call us to cofirm, can see why. Had the taster menu, well taster option, is was not in print but was verably told what we could have if we went for this option. Really enjoyed it, not use to japansse food but kind of what i expected. 6 courses but not that particulary filling Waiter suggested the wine (French) which was loverly. Heavey on the pencil when it comes to the bill, but expected. Overall worth going, great food, intresting surroundings and a good mix of people.
Good food. Also a nice place to have a long lunch and a few drinks on a weekday afternoon when it's quiet.
Tokyo or London!. Excellent sake bar! Fortunate enought to eat here with some Japanese friends who knew the chef, so the meal we had was as authentic as it gets. Sushi was immense, seafood and duck out of this world. Most memorable moment - stinging nettles that melted on the tongue and attacked the senses!
Zuma - SW7. There is no doubting that Zuma is a good restaurant. The food (which is the primary concern of a restaurant) is always perfect. The rest of the elements that go to make up a restaurant are in the 'take it or leave it' category.
It is a celeb style hangout. It is loud not buzzy. It overshadows the real reason you are there.
For those who have not experienced Zuma, you must. If you fancy yourself, you may return. If you like good food and want to have a conversation with your friends you probably won't.
The price reflects the attitude of the place. You pay for great ingredients, fancy sounding cocktails a restaurant designed by a man called 'super potato'. You may also be still paying for the fact that Russell Crowe had a fight in the loos many years ago.
I do like it, in small doses. Maybe I am getting old.
In all honesty I prefer it sibling, Roka. Smaller, Subtler and Sophisticated.
My favourite asisan cusine based restaurant in London. A perfect mix of the atmosphere of Hakkasan and the fantastic food at Roka beating them both. I would happily go again tomorrow, every course was superb without being as rich as the dishes at Hakkasan, full of flavour without being too heavy. Very good service too.
Excellent food and service, but they sure make you pay for it. Helps to be a Trustafarian or let daddy take you. Very noisy, overcrowded tables (take a crash helmet to avoid waiters elbows), but almost compensated by the skill of the cooking.
We had a Great Time. Ive been meaning to leave a review for ages ad i really enjoyed my meal. All of the food was fantastic and the service was great. It was expensive but worth the price. It looks great inside but you wouldnt think so from outside! Well worth a visit. Markus Reed.
. Love.... Love eating at the bar and people watching. Fun way to waste an hour or two!
The most interesting factor of tasting these dishes is the ability of tasting the individual flavour. This was the one thing that stood out for me the most – yes the dishes were beautifully presented and they all tasted wonderful, but just by the fact that you could taste each individual flavour, for me, made it very different from other restaurants I have tried so far.
... I am sure most people have been to Zuma or at least have heard of Zuma, it remains one of the most popular modern Japanese restaurants in London, and even though I try to be critical of it, it just remains amazing, food is top class and it is so hard to fault the place, and so this review will be quite boring as it is so complimentary. Zuma is located on a back street in Knightsbridge, 5min walk from Harrods and does izakaya-style Japanese food, which means dishes are brought to the table continuously throughout the meal, and the menu is very varied consisting of cold fish and meat dishes, sushi and sashimi, robata style grill dishes and Zuma specialities, so the risk is that you get too excited about the various choices and over order (which happens to me all the time). The bar in Zuma is always full, even on a Sunday and Monday night, so if you ever wa
Overall, the experience is good and there is no doubt that a couple of years ago, you would have been pleasantly surprised. Though, if you’re already are a Japanese connoisseur, there isn’t much that would surprise you here. More interesting rolls can even be easily found and at much more affordable prices elsewhere.
Zuma is one of my favourite japanese restaurants in London. It's more than just a sushi restaurant, the combination of robata (Japanese grill), bar and the stylish modern deco reminds me of those restaurants I used to see in Sex and the City. I can't really speak for everyone, but I was always really jealous of all the restaurants the girls in Sex and the City went to, yes not the clothes, restaurants. Especially the stylish ones! On the downside, Zuma is always packed with people, even on a Monday night at 6pm. It'll be wise to book in advance, though if you do come early (opens at 6pm for dinner), the sushi counter would probably be available. I've been to Zuma a couple times now. Every time I'd promise to order food outside the robata grill menu. This almost fails every time when I see the grill (picture below). I can just imagine the juicy chicken wings and sweet potatoes with a char grilled flavour. Then I'd fall into the sweet trap of ordering the same thing again and again. For
We proceeded onto the sushi platter – sea urchin, botan prawns, half-fatty tuna and tamago. Premium quality, though the size was a bit too small. I’d say if you want to maximise your experience at Zuma and minimise the damage to your wallet,
Zuma is a restaurant for special occasions. It is part of a small world wide chain with subsidiaries in Hong kong, Istanbul, Miami and Dubai. You might be able to get away with a semi-affordable bill when ordering carefully, but in the end you will want to splash out. Zuma invites to decadence and gluttony , and at this night, for my birthday, I was part of it. In London , Zuma is located in a very ugly building not far from Knightsbridge tube station and doesn't look like much from the outside. When you enter it however, you feel like you have stepped into a night club or into one of these bars I never go to because I refuse to pay 15 pounds for a cocktail and I usually don't confirm with the dress code. Surrounded by the young, rich and stylish I was glad I had dressed up for this special occasion feeling like a real Chelsea girl, wearing something rather short together with very high heels in the form of my almost virgin golden Sergio Rossi stilettos
It wasn’t ideal eating standing up, but when finally perched on at the table, we had the thinly sliced seabass with yuzu, truffle oil and salmon roe (£12.60). The seabass was beautiful, and the hint of truffle and yuzu were refreshing touches. But there was too much of the salty dressing to the ratio of fish, causing it to drown out its delicate flavour.
This is it. Not in the Michael Jackson sense. But our farewell to London. Three years, eleven months and eight days after arriving in the Big Smoke, we find ourselves once again, passport in hand at the Eurostar terminal. In the intervening years, the ter
Excellent Japanese food! Love the sushi and tempura here. The ambiance is great for dinner and drinks with friends and the location is perfect for post-shopping food stop.
Extremity posh restaurant, the food is superlative, and the service is very attentive, the prices are high but your money are well spent. Try it!!!
I absolutely love the food here it's some of the best Japanese food I've ever eaten the decoration and the environment and atmosphere are perfect for a restaurant
One of the best restaurants worldwide. It's recommended to book a couple of days before the day of dining. Service is excellent. If you are going as a family , I would highly recommend the private Japanese seating where you should take off your shoes before sitting. We ordered avocado salad , Zuma salad , and fried calamari as starters. It was very tasty and delicious. For main course , our choices were spicy beef and grilled salmon. They both were masterpieces of art. Very delicious food and excellent services. I know it's overpriced but it's really worth it.
One of the best Japanese restaurants in London and at the same time one of the most pretentious.
The queue and the waiting list can sometimes be very upsetting, and being treated as in an average place while paying 100 pounds and more per person is not what you would expect. Luckily, this happens mainly during weekends (and sadly is common to so many well known expensive places in London), while during he week the atmosphere is more laid back. I also think that the size of the place doesn't help in keeping the level of service high.
The positive note is the food, which ranges from very good to absolutely amazing: the salmon / tuna tartar with Oscietra Caviar is to die for. Drinks are extremely good as well.
Excellent food and very friendly staff ; prices are extremely high . I will try again when I visit London again.I hope will happen very soon .
Fantastic food
Well I can say that we were all looking for something a little different.
So we found this restaurant by chance and what a golden find.
This place offers fresh sushi and an immense selection of food. Maki rolls came all with great sauces and one in particular “dynamite spider” is great! Then, the duck breast and wagyu beef are incredibly tasty. I never tried something like that before and I have to say that I just loved it.
At the end of the meal the server suggested a dessert which was really good.
Now we get to the location and price. It is very close to Hyde Park. So, on a Sunday it is really nice to have a walk in the park and then go for a special lunch or dinner. Prices are costly and this is maybe the drawback of this place.
We ended up with a bill of £100 for two people.
We sat and inside was just incredible.
The whole staff was tremendous and so friendly.
Must go no matter what to this restaurant.
Zuma ranks amongst the best in the city for providing a contemporary take on traditional Japanese cuisine.
The ambiance is sophisticated, with the dim lighting complimenting the wooden surfaces perfectly. This is an ideal setting for a date or celebration with family and friends.
As you expect in Knightsbridge, Zuma's prices are at the higher end of the spectrum, but unlike some places, it provides dishes worthy of the price tag.
The service is fast and the crowd fairly pretentious, but that comes as part of the experience of dining in such a prestigious restaurant.
I visited Zuma on Thursday to try the food for the first time. My colleague and I put our names down and within 35 minutes we were seated by the robata counter. The earlier you get there, the earlier you will be seated. Come after 8 and you will most likely wait a while.
I love the cosy wooden decor and dim lighting. Its kind of romantic. The service was great, I didn’t have to fill up my wine glass once and the space between the dishes was perfect. Our waiter was very efficient which is what you would expect.
We mixed the dishes up to try from all sections of the menu.
- Yellowtail maki roll with pepper, avocado and wasabi mayo was very tasty.
- Spinach in sesame sauce. The taste was definitely interesting but I prefer the robata vegetables like grilled asparagus.
- Miso marinated Black cod, I always love black cod and this time was no different. The texture was perfect.
- Scallops with black cod roe. This was amazing and quite possibly the nicest scallops I’ve ever had. Crispy, juicy, simply perfection. YOU MUST TRY
For dessert we shared some coconut icecream which was delicious! I didn’t think it went well with the fruit though, the lychee and berries didn’t taste fresh.
The above including the wine came up to around £58 per person. Pricey I know, but London can offer some seriously unsatisfying meals for more than that (plus we had our bottle of wine as well). Excellent food and excellent service!
For a regular night out I actually prefer Roka over Zuma. People at Zuma are a bit more “mature”, full of wealthy businessmen, whereas Roka has got a “young professional” feel. The quality of the food is really the same. Also the location is much more vibrant and not so serious i.e Charlotte Street, Canary Wharf and Bond Street.
I come very often to this place and have never been really disappointed. This is my one of the favorites in this city. Amazing food that comes with very prompt and pleasing service. I went for their duck with extra chili that was recommended to me by my server. It was cooked to perfection and very high on flavors!
My spouse and I had lunch here quite some time ago. We found the food to be absolutely delightful and very tasty. The flavours hit just the right spots. The atmosphere, however, is a bit pretentious and can be uncomfortable, the same can be said of the staff. It needs a little improvement in those areas, otherwise, it's great.
Had a lovely time with my wife here. The food was top class , and the service impeccable .The staff was really nice and friendly too . The drinks were exceptional , and were served chilled .The ambiance is wonderful , and made for an enjoyable evening . A must visit .
I have visited this place quite a few times and always enjoyed the experience but my last visit was a little bit disappointing mainly because of lack in service. The food was excellent and was cooked to perfection. The ambience was great with beautiful decor and pretty comfortable seating, as one would expect from an upscale place. The only problem was the staff which was rude and terse and spoiled the whole experience. I would still recommend others to try this place as the food is awesome.
Every time I go to this city, I make it a point to eat at this restaurant. This time, once again, I went here and am sure to return the next visit. The ambiance here is just incredible and very comforting. The food is absolutely delightful and never fails to please me. The bar here is amazing as well. Definitely recommended.
The food offered here is out of this world! Make sure you order the tuna because it will blow your mind away! This was the best tuna I had laid my hands on or had the chance to taste. The staff is prompt, efficient and attentive in their service and are also very friendly. The atmosphere is also quite relaxing. Definitely recommended!
I was visiting this restaurant for the second time and had a great experience here. The food is absolutely delightful and all the dishes are very well-prepared and are full of flavor. The service is also prompt and good and the staff is friendly and hospitable. I would surely be back and would definitely recommend this restaurant.
I really enjoyed my whole experience of dining out at this place. The cocktails were really nice and refreshing. The dishes that i ordered was alluring, enticing and simply delicious. We ordered black cod, beef, spicy lamb and asparagus. Very well made and beautifully presented. I would definitely come back again!
I had a wonderful time here and I recommend others also to pay a visit to this place at least once, you will fall in love with this place. The ambiance is fantastic and is huge enough to accommodate a good number of people. The service is extremely efficient and swift. The food was delicious and presented very well.
It is a place you ought to visit once and is definitely unsurpassable. Coming to food, we ordered the yakitori skewers and sushi rolls of different types. Both were well cooked and extremely delicious. I would definitely recommend the eel presented in homemade vinegar. On the downside, it is very EXPENSIVE !
This place has garnered many rewards and it truly justifies why it has. This place makes some really good Japanese food. Sushi, prawns and pork are some of their specialty dishes. The bar is also very good at this place. At least you need to book two weeks in advance for a meal here.
This is probably the best restaurant I have gone to in a long while. The area has a lot of hip bars and this is one place which is amazing for Japanese cuisine. We decided to go for a variety of dishes but did not order sushi. The takeaways available here are very tasty, especially the edamame. The seafood was above average, but that is all. The sashimi collection was great. I am a big fan of the watermelon martini here and you must try it. The service was only average. We had a great time though. Worth a visit.
I really suggest people to visit the place ,because this is a pretty good dining experience in my opinion. The place is very popular and remains quite crowded even on weekdays! But the crowd is taken care of pretty efficiently with an awesome serving staff who do they job with great dedication and attention.
The menu has a lot of attractive items to choose from and the food is served at the right time so that every one can relish the food at the same time.
Talking about the tasty dishes, you must try the chopped scallops and sashimi!
The minor letdown for me was that at the end of our meal we were asked to vacate the space for other customers which was slightly off putting.
But definitely go and relish the smashing food!
This place is good but slightly not for the young crowd like me. To begin with, the ambience is dark and the place is usually crowded. I have always loved the place but now the bar is usually occupied with aged men and professionals. There ain't young vibrant people to hang around with!
This place is quite difficult to locate and to get a reservation at. Make sure you do reserve a table. The interiors of this place are very beautiful and have been designed by a man who is known for his work. The food here was possibly the best Japanese food I have had in the city. The service is excellent as well. Highly recommended!
I really like this place and I visit often for the good food , unpretentious staff , and the nice and tasteful decor . The place is quite underwhelming from the outside , but you'll be pleasantly surprised when you enter the place . The food is very good too , the beef , the shrimp and everything else , wonderful . The place can get a little crowded so better to book a table in advance .
The food that is offered here is amazingly delicious and unbeatable. I ordered a number of dishes, and found each of them to be really and genuinely perfect. The quality of the ingredients was top-notch and the presentation of the dishes was beautiful. The black cod lived up to the appreciation it has received in these reviews and the steak tartare was exceptionally memorable. The fish was fresh and delicious, and the dessert was just as precious. The service, however, was abhorring. The servers are all inept at their jobs, and seem to really hate it. They are the ruination of the best food in the city.
I had a great time there. The ambiance is amazing, it's like you have entered a fashion night club, with loud music, superb decor and low lighting. The crowd is also very good and sophisticated people. The service was fantastic and welcoming even though the place was soo crowded, the staff was able to manage it very well. The food was wonderful. I loved and enjoyed each and everything we ordered. One must pay a visit there.
I had a wonderful experience here. The food and drinks were great. The food was delicious and very well prepared. The place is also great value for money. The service did not lag anything and was absolutely spot-on and not once did it feel rushed. I would definitely recommend this place.
We visited this place for dinner a couple of weeks ago, and though it took us a while to find this place, it was worth it. We visited this place during rush hours so it took us a while to get the table, but once we did get it, the experience was superb. The atmosphere of the place was lively and most of the dishes we ordered were brilliantly prepared. I tried the beef that my friend had ordered and it was truly worth dying for. I would love to visit this place again very soon.
Zuma is one of the most lively place and I'm always very excited to visit this place. One should make a booking in advance, since its always very crowded and you may not get a table. One must try the sesame and the pepper steak. It's very delicious. The sushi is one of their specialty. The ambiance is very loud though. Watermelon Martini is highly recommended.
We come to this city quite often and make sure to always dine at this restaurant. From the food, to the efficient service and amazing decor everything is in sync at this place. However, on previous few visits i found the standard of this place is being deteriorated both in terms of food and service. They really need to improve now!
I visited this place for my birthday last week and I had a wonderful time here! The restaurant is spectacular. The food is delicious and does not let down in the least. While the food is on the costlier end, I believe it is worth all that I paid. The staff was excellent and so courteous. I will be going back for sure!
The food here tasted rather good, however it was supremely over priced. I am not picky about money but when the food is to be served as sharing platters and it comes with barely anything to be shared, its a disappointment. All of what they served, could be gotten anywhere in another Japanese restaurant. The good bit was the interesting decor, which was chic and done in earthy tones. The bar in comparison was done up in a contemporary style. The service was great!
Offering good quality food this place proves to be your solution to a place where you can have a good time. Visit it with your family or friends, you will always find this place over crowded and noisy. However, do not fret. The culinary skills of the chef and the robust flavours of the dishes will more than make up for this disappointment.
The place offers authentic Asian cuisine. The ambiance and atmosphere of the place is amazing. The food is also extremely delicious and I have always enjoyed my meal here. The food is flavorful and is well prepared without being too heavy. The service is also quite good. I would surely love returning to this place.
This place has a rather dull external appearance but don't be fooled , inside is a warm and cozy place where you can enjoy a relaxed meal . The food was amazing , and cooked to perfection too , while the service was prompt. Overall, a very pleasant experience . Will return soon .
An authentic Japanese restaurant , with some very delicious food . We knew the chef so he made sure our experience was memorable . This place has a lovely bar too . Overall , a very gratifying experience . Will go back soon , and I highly recommend to all .
The food is not that cheap but again it is not that expensive too. The quality of the food is very high so that tells us about the price of the food.
The service was very good, we had great time there. Some wonderful variations on traditional Japanese fare certainly worth trying if you are looking out something new.
All in all it is a nice place to hang out but you are supposed to go with full pockets.
This place has appealing dishes and eye capturing presentation. But what made it stand out from other places for me is how they bring out each ingredient and flavor. All the flavors are savored and leave a hint afterwards, which is the most interesting factor of their cooking process! Definitely worth every buck!
This place is still the most popular Japanese place for everyone in the city. Modern in feel and authentic in taste, this place proves to be your solution to a Japanese meal craving. Even if I had to get a bit judgemental about this place, I would not find anything worth mentioning. This restaurant is worth a try!
This place is renowned for serving real authentic Japanese cuisine in this city. Almost each dish that i ordered was so high on flavors and taste. Appealing and appetizing! Service as well was very prompt and pleasing. Our servers were very efficient and attentive to our needs. Highly recommend this place to every one!
Wonderful food here , very tasty and freshly cooked too . The service was delightfully and I want to go back already . There is a good crowd which seemed to be enjoying their meals equally , an enjoyable experience . One of my absolute favourite places to eat so far .
Honestly, the food that this place offers is delicious. You're likely to be licking every ounce of your finger tips once you're done with your meal. The service was brilliant and the whole experience for the service to the food to the beverages to the ambiance to the place being happening, everything was amazing. Strongly recommended.
Is pretty difficult to explain why Zuma London may be easily ranked as the top Glam-Asian Restaurant in London.
Always packed with fancy people; the service is nevertheless consistent with the fame of the restaurant. Needless to say the food is great and also the wine list is fantastic. Perhaps the bar at the entrance is sometimes too much noisy and crowdy. To dine here a reservation is highly recommended
Definitely would return, highly recommended
Zuma is by far my favourite Japanese restaurant in London, even better than its outlets in Dubai and Istanbul.
The interior is the same in all of their restaurants, wooden tables and chairs, with a minimalist, contemporary vibe. This creates a nice and relaxed atmosphere, making it the perfect environment for any occasion.
The food is phenomenal, and even for non-sushi eaters, there is a large selection of food. The one thing that everyone must try is the Black Cod, which is simply amazing.
Zuma is perfect for dinner or lunch, and I would recommend everyone to try and visit. Although it is rather expensive, it makes a fantastic dinner on a special occasion.
My favourite Japanise restaurant in London is Zuma, located in Knightsbridge area.
The food is marvelous and there are dishes that can not be found elsewhere, like tempura popcorn and the truffle wagyu beef crystal rolls.
The prices are very high but the amazing experience you receive there is guaranteed.
I am impressed by the service, the great atmosphere and the amazing and creative food.
Would definetely plan to return!
Zuma is a top notch restaurant, one of my favourites in London. Hidden away in Knightsbridge, it is one of the most exclusive restaurants. Very expensive, but worth every penny.
You are surrounded with beautiful decor and dim lighting to set the mood for a nice meal with friends, a date or a colleague. It's quite loud and buzzing, adding to the atmosphere of the place.
The food is amazing - I can never get enough of the spicy beef tenderloin and prawn tempura maki roll. The beef is covered in a delicious sauce with sesame seeds and a blend of tangy, sweet and spicy flavours.
The robata skewers are also very tasty, but the portions are a bit small if you're sharing!
Desserts are to die for here; I love the chocolate fondant with vanilla ice cream, which isn't actually on the menu.
One of my top 5 japanese restaurants in London. It's expensive, but you totally get what you pay for. Generally need a reservation to eat here, they have private rooms (need 6 people to get one) you feel like you have stepped into a fashion night club, quite noisy, low lighting, stunning decor and an upscale crowd.
The service was wonderful, pleasant and efficient even though it was a busy night, amazing wine & sake selection, the food was more than great, chopped scallops with a wasabi dressing, the famous (Nobu's) Black Cod was excellent, Wagyu beef plate we had was absolutely tasty, juicy and most important, tender, the sashimi moriawase was standard + and the presentation totally top notch.
Highly recommended
Taken here by a friend for a wedding gift, don't recall what i had but know it was great and i left with a painful stomach. Painful as i stuffed myself until i was ready to burst, will be going back for sure.
Never fails to deliver good food time and again. For me the epitome of a good restaurant and bar.....
Even though it is notoriously difficult to get a table here, among all the special occasion fine-dining restaurants, Zuma in my opinion, tops the list. Can I say, the sushi is absolutely fantastic and the same goes for the food here in general. Everything that they offer is made to perfection, with the freshest ingredients. They have a varied range of options, and cater to vegetarians too, though I would say that the vegetarian options are relatively limited. In terms of food, I would recommend the vegetarian and rock tempura. The zuma salad is good. I also quite like the yellowtail sashimi, and the veggie maki. My friends loved the signature black cod. In terms of dessert, they're either a hit or a miss. I quite like the chocolate fondant cake, despite the caramel after taste. Would highly recommend Zuma to those who love sushi, definitely among the best in London.
I went to Zuma a day after going to another sushi chain and could easily compare the tastes. Let me warn you - Zuma is not light on your bank account. Sushi in general is expensive and Zuma is right up there. I think with sushi it can be a hit and miss - sometimes it can taste very synthetic. However, at Zuma, you can taste the high-quality of the ingredients. The sushi is certainly the best I've had in London. It's also very FRESH. The decor and lighting of the place is stunning. This is a place for a celebration, not your everyday sushi place. I recommend this place very highly to sushi lovers. However, do make the effort to dress up, it's in Knightsbridge after all and this is reflected not just in the prices but also the clientele.
A venue for a celebration or somewhere to spend your bonus ! Magical entrance with beautiful cocktail bar serving great range of cocktails. Food is top of class, some very unusual dishes, black cod is amazing ... and expensive! I'd recommend sitting on the stools next to the serving counters, feels like you're taking part in the cooking ! Always very busy. The toilets are an experience too !!
Zuma, we heard a lot about this high end restaurant in knightbridge.
Yes zuma is very very (VERY VERY) expansive.
Yes at zuma you'll find a lot of very (VERY etc.) pretentious people.
Yes there is also a lot of (very beautiful) russian girl.
Actually there is a lot of things that could make this restaurant the kind of the one that i hate.
But there is something indeniable about zuma : the food is absolutely amazing.
EVERYTHING on the menu is fresh, tasty and unique.
Much better than nobu.
If you have 100 pounds to spend, go to zuma.
Be prepared to wait if you don't have a booking. The food is great and it has a great bar. £££
Over a decade after its May 2002 opening, Zuma sails serenely on, serving its appealing take on Japanese izakaya (pub) food. The smartly dressed and carefully trained waiters look after their customers well, and the overall package continues to draw a fashionable crowd.
Deep-fried squid with green chilli, salt and a wedge of lime had good batter, but the squid was unremarkable, some pieces with a hint of chewiness. The small pieces of chilli added bite, and the lime a little freshness (barely 14/20). Better was tempura of prawns, the batter even and crisp, the prawns having good flavour (15/20). Tuna tataki is a reliable staple here, the ponzu dressing carefully balanced, with just enough soy to work well with the fish, a little daikon adding texture and chilli just lifting the dish (15/20).
Sushi of both mackerel (£5.40) and eel (£7.80) were also good, the eel nicely cooked, the rice at the correct room temperature (15/20). The best dish was langoustine (£25.80), again deep-fried and served with a red chilli dip. The langoustines were of genuinely good quality, the batter again light and crisp (16/20). A pork skewer (£6.20) was also very good, the pork glazed with honey, the meat carefully cooked (15/20).
Zuma is not a bargain restaurant, and it is so successful it has no need for cheap lunch offers to lure in the punters. The bill, with just a single excessively priced beer at £6 for a bottle of Kirin, came to £58 a head at lunchtime; to be fair, it would be the same at dinner. In the evening the price would seem more competitive, but at lunch there are some real bargains to be had elsewhere in London, even at top-end restaurants. However it is hard to argue with success, and the large premises were full, including seats at the bar around the open kitchen. The cooking is very consistent, and the menu very appealing.
OK so this is the second time I've been to Zuma and this time I had invited friends as I couldn't stop raving about the place from my first visit.
Don't get me wrong, the food as always was very good, and the cocktails, made curtesy of Alexei were exceptional.
The one area that Becker and Waney really need to focus on is the disgracefully inept reception staff who seem to think that you as a paying customer represent nothing more than an inconvenience in their otherwise vapid existence. A trained chimpanzee could do their job better and with more customer service.
Unfortunately I shall not be visiting Zuma again simply due to the fact that that Nobu or Aqua Kyoto have equally as good food, and they at least go out of their way to make you feel welcome.
I already have a reservation for Becker and Waney's next venture, Oblix, at the Shard in May, and I just hope the experience will be better...
We had an outstanding experience at Zuma. The customer service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was fantastic. We explored a variety of dishes from the menu, and I highly recommend the skewers and rolls. Although we were excited to try the signature black cod, it unfortunately fell short of our expectations and was a bit overrated.
We ordered the Premium tasting menu, and everything was delicious!
Each menu cost £160, which was quite steep but worth it for our anniversary. It was an abundance of food, and each dish was exceptionally special.
Our favorite dish was the wagyu with truffle.
We also ordered cocktails, and they were also fantastic.
The place is nice and has a good atmosphere. Everything is very aesthetically pleasing and clean.
The attentiveness of the waiters is excellent. They always had great recommendations and provided attentive service throughout the meal.
It is definitely worth going for special occasions.
One thing we found disagreeable was the tipping policy. They automatically included a 15% tip (we agree with this), and after paying it, they asked if we wanted to add an additional tip. We ended up giving another 15% (we do not agree with this)... but apart from that, I would rate it 4 stars.
If you really want to treat yourself to some great Japanese food, this is the spot to do it! The food quality is excellent and rich with some awesome flavours. The black cod is truly excellent! They get really busy during lunch so make sure to have a reservation or arrive early enough to avoid the rush. The staff are friendly and helpful. They get a little overwhelmed when there’s a lot of people in the restaurant.
This restaurant is too expensive, there are no two ways about it. That being said some of the dishes we ate here were up there with the tastiest dishes I have eaten in London notably the scallops, black cod and wagyu tomahawk was so very good.
The fried bits were all very good, the soft shell crab stood out in particular and the tomato, aubergine and miso salad was delicious given how simple it was. We had a nice aromatic Riesling which worked well with most of the dishes.
I would stay away from the sushi though, nothing wrong with it just nothing special either.
My only gripe was that the service could have been a bit slicker, again nothing bad but some dishes came out randomly when we asked them to come with other dishes and it felt like they were quite rushed when things got busy. For that price it should be right!
Very nice experience with some work colleagues. The waiters and staff were very friends and especially attentive. The sake and dishes were harmonically prepared accompanied by home technoish music. If you have some money to spend it is a great place to go
My Review is more for VEGETARIANS:
The starters are excellent - the salad, the tofu & avocado, the Spinach & sesamè, the spicy edemame.. they even customized a sushi for us.m
the Mains are also nice.. but starters are definitely much better.
The problem is that some of the things like Veg Tempura / Potatoes/ sweetcorn - are made in oils used for making non-veg, or have something to do with fish.. I wish they made pure vegetarian options for these.
Otherwise all good.. Love the ambience and the service. Very nice seating and atmosphere.
The location on google maps was incorrect, which I have now corrected.
Used to be much better, sushi rolls were good, food of the grill was nice too, but everything had higher standards before, which is a shame.
Service has gone down hill. Rude staff
Will I go again: Yes
Food: 7/10
Service: 6/10
Value for money: 6/10 ( keeping in mind the location and competition )
Price : £500 for two
Really enjoyed this fresh seafood, my one thing which might come down to personal taste was the blackened cod was far to fishy, I feel it was from frozen hence the fishy taste.
Everything else was amazing, loved the freshness of the ceviche and the feed me menu was great value.
It almost felt like a night club later in the night when we were leaving, might not be some peoples thing.
Genuinely one of the most phenomenal dining experiences I have had in London to date!
Would happily return again and explore more of their menu!
Food is a top notch here, tasty, fresh and well served. The service is outstanding with staff being very polite and attentive. The only drawback of this place is the ‘girls’ hitting at rich men at the bar, and this is extremely obvious. Maybe management shall pay their attention to this. Overall, nice night out place.
