This is a pretty. Smart casual venue for afternoon tea. With indoor and outdoor seating. Excellent service was received from all staff members. It's great that there is an afternoon tea menu for vegetarians.

With only a week to go until we head off to Antigua, Claire and I went for afternoon tea last week to plan and discuss the last minute details of the trip! I'd never visited the St Ermin's hotel before, but heard so much about it as it was a favourite of Winston Churchill's for top secret war time meetings. Their Royal Afternoon Tea is currently running to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday, and as it was a beautiful sunny day, we made the most of it and sat outside on the gorgeous shady terrace.

What better way to celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday than with a glass of fizz and an afternoon tea fit for royalty in the luxurious surroundings of St Ermin’s Hotel? I’ve visited St Ermins a few times but never for tea. Usually, I’ve been there to dine in Adam Handling’s rather special restaurant. So, I was delighted to be invited to review the new Royal Tea – dismayed to find I couldn’t make the original date – and then excited to get an invitation to visit a few weeks later on a date of my choice.

A gorgeous family friendly afternoon tea.  I celebrated my birthday with my children and we all had a fab time.  Great food for the adults and a perfect children's tea too.  And they have a bee hotel!!!!  Highly recommended

If you are an afternoon tea lover like me, you may have spotted that this week is afternoon tea week. To celebrate, I of course had to go and indulge in some cake and tea. I took Danny along with me and we went to try out afternoon tea at the St Ermin’s Hotel in St James. The reason being, well all through August they are offering an unlimited champagne afternoon tea for just £35 per person. I don’t think I really have to explain that one.

I was invited to try the Flights of Fancy Gluten Free Afternoon Tea at St Ermins Hotel recently.

The gluten free sandwiches were chilled and the bread was very thick hence they weren't very inviting and unfortunately the fillings were very limited.

The gluten free scones were tasty however they were a bit crumbly and dry but that can happen with gluten free scones.

The standout on the gluten free pastries was the carrot cake was which divine.

The afternoon tea was served with three flutes of champagne, one flute for each serving i.e. sandwiches, scones and pastries.

My husband and I had a last minute 24 hour lay over in London, and we happened upon this lovely tea house. The service was top notch and the overall experience was pleasant and relaxing. We felt so welcomed and really enjoyed our first afternoon tea time. I would recommend this place to all of my dearest friends and family for a simply wonderful way to enjoy the day.

Had an amazing afternoon at the tea lounge at St Ermin’s. The service was impeccable and the food and tea were simply superb. The host seated us in a cozy corner which had a portrait of teh queen :) so had tea with the queen!!! It was a sublime experience.

It was a very cosy room in a beautiful hotel, and our waiter Gemma was absolutely brilliant. The teas were lovely but the vegan cakes and scones were a bit dry. I’ve made a lot of vegan cakes and feel like they could have been a bit more fluffy and moist. But the service and ambience was great for the price.

I've come here twice now and it's been an amazing experience both times! I hope to go again soon so I can try their new menu (it changes seasonally, I believe). The actual tea lounge looks very nice (a nice mix of posh and cute?) and you definitely feel like it's THE place for an afternoon tea. I love the selection of teas and the tea pots they come in (I'm partial to the vanilla blend). You also get this cute little sandglass timer which tells you when you should remove the tea bag. The food was also delicious! Especially the lamingtons and macarons. The scones are adorable in size and are served warm (just thinking of them now is making me hungry). Scones are just the highlight of an afternoon tea so it's good they bring them out last (and you get a basket of them!). The staff are also amazing. Shaz and Tioni (I hope I spelt your names correctly) were so helpful and totally understanding when we changed our mind about the prosecco. We even took a photo with Shaz! 😄

Managed to get a seat as a walk-in thanks to the brilliant staff here. They were very accommodating to my MIL's diabetes and brought out a plate of fruit for her instead of the afternoon tea sweets - which were all brilliant. Great vibes in this tea lounge with great service. Very comfortable and tasty. For an afternoon tea that served 2 we paid £85 - we just got the fruit and a pot of tea for my MIL and split the 2-person tea service between the 3 of us.

Booked an Afternoon Tea as we were staying at the hotel and wanted to experience what it was all about. We did have to book this three weeks in advance via the hotels website. We were offered two different choices of teas. The staff gives detailed information on how long to let the tea brew. After a few minutes they bring out the sandwiches and desserts. The sandwiches were very tasty. There was only one dessert I didn't care for. Afternoon Tea comes with fresh scones. After completing our first pot of tea we were quickly provided a second one. This was an experience worth booking.

Absolutely beautiful afternoon tea service with gorgeous views inside and outside. Wide selection of delicious teas and great variety of finger foods. Our service was 38 pounds per person and far exceeded any of the other tea experiences in London that charge upwards of £70 each. Our tea came with one tea per person, a tray with sandwiches, macaroons, tarts, and other desserts, and then scones to finish off. Staff was attentive and friendly and we were even greeted by the manager who was just lovely. Definitely a hidden gem but I could not recommend it more!!

The afternoon tea was good value for money. Generous finger sandwiches, luckily no cucumber sandwich here. The desserts were absolutely great. Service is friendly, but not precise. Plates between savory and sweet were replaced only after we've asked for, and no new cups with the tea. Overall, though, a very positive experience, and we are looking forward to return once the tearoom upstairs will be open again.

The BEST afternoon tea experience! Thank you Shaz, Teani, and Rebecca for taking great care of us. The food and tea were excellent and the service was amazing. They even allowed us to stay and sit in the hotel for a while after our tea, just enjoying the atmosphere.

I really want to love this place, but I just like it. They get many points for being one of the few afternoon tea lounges that I found that has a specific vegetarian menu. The service was great, but possibly too attentive! I was asked several times if everything was ok when I was just taking my time eating.

I love afternoon tea and have been making it my mission to try all the ones offered in NYC so I was excited to see how London compared. First of all, this hotel is gorgeous. Just screams class all the way. The tea lounge is pretty small and intimate and decorated perfectly IMO. I thought the afternoon tea was good value for money at £43/pp for the champagne option. The coronation chicken and crayfish sandwiches were the best and not something I’ve come across at afternoon tea in NYC. The scones are served hot as in they don’t even come on the tier, they will check with you as to when you want them served. I usually hate raisin scones but I ate every morsel of mine with copious amounts of jam and clotted cream. All the desserts save one were really good. The outlier dessert was just comically bad, like it didn’t even sound good but we ate as much of it as we could 😂. Not really a critique, but there aren’t like pages and pages of tea options which personally, I prefer as I get easily overwhelmed with too many options. I enjoyed everything else and would definitely come back. Also, we weren’t rushed at all which I really appreciated. Our server, Tierney (sp?) was wonderful but it really was a group effort, all the exceptional service.

The food and tea were great! Delicious and very Instagrammable. They had the vegetarian sandwiches ready for my husband which were yummy (we booked online in advance). Service was excellent too! Our servers were very friendly. Thank you Shaz and Rebecca!

We had a lovely vegetarian afternoon tea at St Ermin's tea lounge today for my son's 12th birthday. The food was delicious and the service we received from Wioletta was excellent, so friendly, polite and attentive. My son received a complimentary mocktail for his birthday (Sarah's special), which was a lovely gesture. Thank you Wioletta and Sarah.

A must-have traditional tea experience in London. Cute little tea lounge settled into the upstairs of an absolutely stunning hotel. Not a bad price for the quality of food, tea, and the experience. Would definitely recommend.

Had a wonderful anniversary tea here - the quality of the food is incredible as are the staff and surroundings. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and they are so friendly and professional. The food is a lot more filling than you’d think - the portions really do add up! Would recommended instantly, the surroundings, food, teas and service are top notch, and easy to get to being so near to St. James’ Park station. Top marks : )
