I went to this restaurant when I was travelling for my birthday.

Loved coming at this French restaurant. They serve the best French cuisine. The interiors and decors of this place are very attractive and different.

You may think you can’t eat at Michelin star restaurant without breaking the bank, but you can now thanks to Nez app. It’s an app with access to exclusive offers in Central London, best for sorting out your lunches. Join and use my referral code “Z8NZ”.  Pied à Terre serves modern French cuisine, with head chef Asimakis Chaniotis he even popped out to greet diners.

This was a fabulous treat for date night. I usually try and avoid French restaurants as the cuisine doesn’t normally lend itself well to vegetarians. This time however, Pied a Terre was mentioned in several places as a vegetarian friendly option, so I thought it was worth giving it a go. Ah the joy of finding a vegetarian tasting menu! And for those so inclined, there was even an option of making it vegan. Now 6 courses is an indulgent meal – but someone has to do it. I won’t go through them all, but the highlights for me were the parsnip, pear and dandelion and the selection of desserts! Yum! Pied a Terre was a classic French restaurant – and a lovely place to have a quiet dinner.

Andy McFadden has now taken over the kitchens of Pied a Terre for almost a year now. My meal back in January was very good and I was very keen to see what his cooking was like having had more time to settle into the kitchen and getting his team up to speed with his style of cooking. I so happen to be in London for another medical update course and decided to pop in for a ‘quick’ lunch. Julien and Matthieu were around today and as usual offered to organise some food for me to go with the wine I wanted to drink. The dining room was pretty packed during lunch which can only be a good sign given how many top Michelin starred restaurants around the area are struggling to attract customers in despite the cheap lunch menu.

FOMO. I’ve got it. You’ve got it.  We’re all running around with a hefty dose of it, perhaps thinking about our working lives, social lives, personal lives, or in my case, my eating life.  Life in Surrey as a family with the sprog is idyllic but where I once avidly read food blogs and kept my eye on the foodie pulse, I’m now becoming more familiar with my own kitchen and what foods I can pulverise into mash so the sprog will eat them.  I won’t lie, I hanker a little for the old foodie me.

Restaurants in London are always opening and closing; I’ll visit a restaurant and six months later it’ll be closed with a new one in its place. But really good restaurants stand the test of time which is why Pied à Terre has been on the same site in Charlotte Street for 25 years. I visited the restaurant about seven years ago, but I was returning tonight to try the fantastic Michelin-starred food once again.

It still amazes me just how many new restaurants are opening in London right now and there’s still no sign of it slowing down. Gone are the days of seeking our hidden side streets for bespoke clothing, handmade trinkets or a vintage record shop – now you’ll just find restaurant. It’s not a question of will the dining scene crash, instead we should be asking ourselves – when. With that said one thing we need to remember as Londoners is that some restaurants were here first and they still are – serving outstanding food which is miles better than any of the hipster owned outlets which make you queue up outside in the cold, for eventually – rather mediocre food. So it was refreshing to re-discover Pied à Terre. I first discovered this Fitzrovia institution many years ago, yet somehow it got lost in the back of my mind and subsequently I never got round to visiting. That won’t happen again.

I was in London for the day for an update course at the Royal Society of Medicine. Having paid £40 for my train ticket I thought it would have been a good idea to have dinner in London as well. Given the central location of the Royal Society of Medicine, there were options aplenty. I decided to revisit Pied à Terre where they have a new head chef in place. I have not revisited Pied à Terre since Marcus Eaves left (to head up the kitchen at Oblix) late last year. He has been replaced by the L’Autre Pied’s head chef, Andy McFadden who was previously sous chef under Shane Osbourne at Pied à Terre. I have eaten at L’Autre Pied when Andy was head chef there although I was not very impressed with the cooking there. It was certainly tasty and well cooked, but just lacking magic. I do appreciate however the fact that he was leading a kitchen where the chefs are generally less experienced and there is a greater restriction placed on food costing. Having given Andy sufficient time to settle back into his ‘new’ kitchen and imposing his cooking style on his menu, a revisit was very much called for.

The third part of my grouse hunt instalment takes me to Pied à Terre where I had one of the most memorable grouse dishes last year. Booking at short notice, I was very grateful that the restaurant were able to pull some strings and squeeze me in for an early table. My last visit here was with my fiancee’s family and we had the their regular tasting menu which although great featured all their signature dishes that I was very familiar with due to visiting fairly regularly. This time around, I left it to Marcus to decide dinner proceedings and he duly obliged with a special tasting menu featuring all their new dishes, including of course some grouse.

We had 10 course tasting menu and it was great. Staff is polite and attentive. Service is great. Food was great; great blend of flavors with great choice of wines. I loved the pork and seared fillet of south coast. Others were also completely satisfied. We had quality time, an unforgettable experience. I would highly recommend this place.

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday. Place was really beautiful and so were the people there; welcomed us and helped us with the menu. Menus were really good. We had roasted breast and crispy leg of quail for starters. For mains roasted breast of spring chicken was amazing. And I really liked mushroom soup with truffle. Everything was great, from ambience to food. I loved this place and we are definitely returning.

First off, many apologies for the dearth of updates on my blog. When I started writing again my aim was to write on a regular basis which is feasible based on my current work schedule. However, the hospital I currently work at is undergoing a shortage of doctors and I have volunteered to help cover the shifts. As such I have been back-logged a fair bit and in the coming weeks you will see a fair few number of posts of my recent meals.

Ok, I don't feel compelled to write polite reviews about fine dining restaurants just to prove I understand world cuisine. So, here goes, it's a tad pretentious and the menu is impossible to decipher. The staff are always too busy to respond and the tables are cramped together like they're feeding refugees in Red Cross camps. The wine and desserts are brilliant but the food is really not all that great! Terrible if you're a vegetarian

I have a long list of restaurants that I want to go to. It gets longer by the week with so many new openings. Pied à Terre is a one michelin starred restaurant, surprisingly it is not on my top of the list to go. Pied à Terre is the "bigger" sister restaurant to L'autre Pied which I visited earlier in the year and I had a great experience there. With Marcus Eaves as the head chef, I had high expectations, especially after L'autre Pied.

We actually bought the deal of 7 course tasting menu with a glass of champagne on Amazon for £49 priory to the meal. It seems a very good bargain, trying to attract more clients by offering the tasting menu at a lower cost. The only downside is the time restriction which you can only book it for certain time and certain day of the week. That didn't stop us from buying the deal. So on a Monday evening, we sneakily left work a bit earlier than usual for the 6:15pm sitting in our business attires. We were served a glass of champagne each upon arrival. Correction, it's actually vouvray a sparkling wine from France and the one we drank is produced by same method as champagne so the second fermentation happens in the bottle. It's actually very good, especially being a blanc de blancs.

An array of amuse bouche and bread soon arrived. A miniature size of chicken croquettes left you wondering how do you make it so small, so crunchy with the chicken mousse inside leaving you wanting more. The prawn mousse on a squid ink wafer topped with fish roes has so many different textures it's delightful. The bread selection is very good, white baguette, brioche, walnut & pumkin seeds bread and black treacle bread.

This was a dish that I couldn't not take my eyes off, the plating is so beautiful. It is a very refreshing salad with lots of different textures. Smoked duck breast is very oily and flavoursome, it reminds me of iberico ham. A playful beetroot meringue against other vegetables of soft and crunch. It's also a start of an exploding wine journey to the meal matched with Macabeo Sobra Lias, Torre Solar, Spain 2013. A hint of tropical fruits on the nose combined with crisp, refreshing acidity.

I don't think I could get enough of this fantastic mushroom soup, intensified mushroom flavour and the aroma of truffle lingering in the mouth. The orzo pasta gives it an extra texture along with the cured Pyrenean ham adding another dimension. It can be a bit salty at the end from the intensive flavour. The wine that was paired (Montenidoli Tradizionale Vernaccia di San Gimignano, Italy 2012) cut through the saltiness very nicely. It makes me drool just thinking about this soup. Intrigue to know how to make such a mushroomy soup now, definitely something I would want to replicate in my kitchen minus the cost of the truffle.

There was something on this Poussin dish that I was not looking forward to, liquorice braised leek. I am not against the leek, it is the flavour of liquorice that I dislike. The poussin is cooked to perfection, still retaining its moist succenlant meat. Well balanced dish and seasoned nicely. How happy was I, in fact I could barely get that hint of liquorice and secretly I was applauding in my heart with the joy of no liquorice lingering in my mouth. I could have asked not to have the leek on the dish but I still wanted to have every elements remained on the dish without ruining anything. Good matching wine (Côtes du Rhônes, Famille Lancon la Solitude, France 2013)

If you asked me what I drink during Christmas, it's definitely not mulled wine. I don't like the spices in mulled wine, it really ruins the wine. The layer of mulled wine jelly surprised me in the trifle, not overly spiced and can still taste the wine. Surprisingly I liked the trifle more than I thought. Pied á Terre definitely have done a good job on adding the flavour of things that I don't like but when you have a taste of it, the disliked flavour doesn't really come out meaning I can eat the dish. Paired With a sweet wine (Botrytis Viognier, Yalumba FSW8B, Australia 2014) that adds extra sweetness to the dessert.

Triumph dessert, everything tasted so light and the right sweetness. The peanut ice cream was like an iced cold creamy but extremely light peanut butter. If I can I'd love to have a whole scoop of it. Even better, sandwiched between a fried bun and you get a peanut butter ice cream bao. I think I just suggested something new, don't steal it. The chocolate mousse just melts in the mouth, not overly sickly chocolatey, immensely light. Everything is just so perfect. What took me by surprised was the wine (Madeira, Blandy's Malmsey Harvest, Portugal 2006), it smelts like a port with a bit lighter body than uoto port and it tasted very similar to port as well. I think I just find a new alternative to my port obsession, Madeira that is.

I hoovered up my desserts politely and when you thought it was drawing to an end, more comes along with the line of petit fours of 6 different varieties. Every single one of them was so fine and delicate that you don't even want to touch it. Loved the lapsang souchong ganache. I can't remember what the green thing was but the marshmallow was a texture that you'd never experienced. So soft that it melts in the mouth, it was a threat to disappearing on the fingers. This is not like your everyday marshmallow. We also had a pot of ceylon and a double expresso. At one point, I wanted to take the teapots away with me. That's how much I liked it but now I do know where to buy it. Betjeman and Barton is a tea brand that I have not heard of before, it's one that I am on the look out for now because it's good.

Looking down the watch, it has gone past 9pm. How did we eat for 3 hours, it went so quick. Pied à Terre is good. I mean very good, food and service was faultless. This would probably be the most attentive service we've received in any places. Imaging being in a restaurant and at most the maximum was 4 tables that was dining. Service can't go wrong, right? There won't be a buzzing atmosphere, well it was not exactly busy. I do like a quiet room for dining sometimes, without distraction and no music playing. My suggestion to experience the impeccable service is to dine on a Monday. Sophisticated decor with bits and bobs of modern touch to it; low light hanging on each table and with the table booth area like, it's perfect for a cosy couple. You can tell I've enjoyed the meal a lot, biased to say I like Pied à Terre more than L'autre Pied. What's even better is their ability to matched such fantastic wines to such tasty food. Hands down to the sommelier.

Romantic dining. My wife and I went there for a nice evening out and we were not disappointed. The service was amazing, the waiters attentive and the wine suggestions worked perfectly with the food we had ordered. The food was great but honestly for a 2 star Michelin I thought we should expect more. But it is a great place.

Very Good. Just arrived home after having the set lunch with a friend. Really enjoyed it. Just the right amount of food and all of great quality. Nice calm and unprententious dining room. First rate and very professional service. Presentation of every course was fab, and so was the taste. The duck main, and the delicious breads stood out particularly. Enjoyed the view of the aerial herb garden from the toilets too.

Salad of Loch Duart salmon with avocado cream, horseradish, cucumber, basil and borage. Beautifully executed, the salmon was fresh, packed with richness from the fish oil and had a lovely smooth texture, the avocado cream added an extra layer of creaminess. While the horseradish and basil given it a sour and bitter taste, it was balanced out with the neutral flavour of the cucumber.

We’d booked to go to Atelier de Joel Robuchon as a birthday treat for J, son of C. I ask whether J, whose taste in food tends towards the adventurous might not prefer something a little more down with the kids but I am told that I do not know what I am talking about. As it happens, we need to change the day and the Robuchon is no longer available. I am not disappointed. I don’t know what it is but there is something about the those restaurants-named-after-a-chef without the chef actually being there that doesn’t do it for me. Google Robuchon and you get Robuchon Vegas/London/Monaco/Paris and Tokyo. He must clock up a lot of air miles. So I am charged with finding a Michelin-starred restaurant at short notice, to fill the Robuchon-sized gap and don’t you  start on the whole Michelin thing –  I know.    I do the OpenTable scroll of desperation and decide I don’t  want to go to The Square, or Hibiscus  again   and then something deep in my subconscious makes Pied à Terre float to the surface. Sometimes something has been there for so long that you don’t even think about it; the bright lights of all those new openings make you blind to the bleedingly obvious. The list, you ask  Oh yes indeed.

I went for lunch today at Pied à Terre which "...is reportedly one of London's best value lunch menus for Michelin star dining.". Unfortunately, it was so good it didn't actually end up being as bargainous as I thought. Now, I don't mean that in a derogatory way. Far from it. It exceeded my expectations for a lunch by so much we were there for over two hours savouring every bite. We should have realised this was going to be no ordinary lunch as soon as the fresh truffle croquette (a delightful crispy, earthy mouthful) and scallop ball appeared. Canapés at a lunch? With truffle? My my. Now gnocchi are one of my (many) weaknesses, so there was simply no chance of me not having the chestnut gnocchi. They were billowy pillows lightly fried anointed with Parmesan. The mushroom vinaigrette and the slivers of spring truffle accompanied them perfectly. It made for quite an autumnal dish but so delicate it was perfect for a mild June afternoon. I'd had a quick perusal of the menu on-line before

Thoroughly enjoyable birthday meal, bit on a Spenny side for a one star Michelin restaurant.

I was taken to Pied a Terre for my birthday and it was one of the best meals I ever had thanks to the perfection in each course served, great service and restaurant ambience.

We went for the chef 8 courses tasting menu. It's not an adventurous menu or combination but there was nothing I could complain about. My favourite was crispy salmon teamed up with little crumbly pigs cheek ball and langoustine, yummy! (All other dishes see photos). Another highlight of the night is the wine tasting where they let you drank and guessed what the wine was (age, type, grape etc. before telling you what they were. It was great fun guessing esp. When you got something right! the sommelier was excellent at delivering his service and we have certain learned a bit more about wine.

Another must -try at the restaurant is their selection of warm bread that would be provided unlimited throughout the meal and their brioche bread was the best i ever tried! I would come back to this restaurant on the basis of this brioche only.

There is a multi- national customer base from individuals to families where the kids devour on the waffles and ice cream.

Being a sea food lover I naturally ordered the mackerel with marinated potatoes. What a revelation! The fish was melt in your mouth, so delicate and light. The potatoes had enough character to deserve to be on the same plate as the fish and were more and more fulfilling with each mouthful

This is that type of meal that you just don’t want to finish eating. Yes it was simple but it was served up so well that every time I visit this place I order the same dish and am amazed with the consistency of flavours served each time. It is really  first rate food that will have you wanting to come back for more.

A real treat! Me and the bf wanted to come here after trying L'autre Pied. We had such a good time there and his parents felt that this restaurant was better. Maybe because of the setting?
We were seated in the private room near the entrance which allowed us some privacy. The waiter kindly showed us the drinks menu and suggested something to go with the courses.
Everything was amazing. The food was exquisite and we would love to go again sometime in the future.

[UPDATED- 17th September 2014]

An array of nibbles at the start of this meal include mushroom beignets with summer truffle, and tuna on a little crisp. Quail was served in several forms: as breast, crispy leg and quail Kiev along with a poached quail egg, served with a Douglas Fir puree and hazelnut dressing. This was a pretty and well executed dish, the quail precisely cooked and the dressing working well with the slightly bitter leaves used as garnish (18/20).

Saddle of hare was roasted and served with wet walnuts, cavalo nero, quince and blackberries on a bed of red cabbage. The hare was nicely cooked, the fruit providing some acidity to balance the richness of the meat (17/20).

Native lobster was served with vine cherry tomatoes, burnt aubergine, courgettes and chorizo. Lobster is tricky to get right, very easy to overcook. Here the cooking was accurate and the chorizo was a pleasant foil to the shellfish (16/20).

Raspberry and lemon millefeuille came with fresh verbena and lemon thyme gel. The puff pastry was good, the raspberries having plenty of flavour, the acidity of the lemon providing freshness but not too sharp (17/20).

As usual here, there was a wide selection of petit fours, including a lemon meringue and a lovely passion fruit chocolate (easily 17/20). Service was excellent, attentive without being intrusive. On this occasion I was being treated by someone else so did not see the bill, but if you ordered a la carte and shared a modest bottle of wine then a typical bill might come to around £115 a head. This was accomplished cooking, the menu appealing and the overall experience very enjoyable.
................................................................................................................................................

[17th October 2013]
Since it opened in 1991 David Moore’s restaurant Pied a Terre has played host to some very fine chefs, including Tom Aikens, Richard Neat and Shane Osborn. Since June 2011 the kitchen has been in the hands of Marcus Eaves, who was previously head chef of Autre Pied, the younger sister of Pied a Terre. Marcus had worked at Pied a Terre after training at Simpsons in Birmingham, at Lettonie in Bath and The Landmark hotel when John Burton Race was leading that kitchen.

Two courses were priced at £60, desserts £15, with two tasting menus at £95 and £145 respectively. A wide range of up to 900 wine choices were available on the list. Examples were Magpie Estate Fakir Grenache 2008 at £38 for a wine that you can find in the high street for about £13, Trinity Hill Gimblett Gravels Syrah 2011 at £54 for a wine that retails at £17, and Zind Humbrecht Rangen 2000 was £162 for a wine that will set you back £54 in a shop.

The evening meal began with some nibbles. Celeriac with foie gras and smoked duck breast in pig consommé jelly was pleasant but for me the smoky flavor was a little too strong (15/20). Chicken mousse leek and potato croquette with lemon mayo was better, the batter quite light, the chicken mousse having good flavour (16//20).

A selection of five breads was offered, made in the kitchen: walnuts and pecan, black treacle, oat bread, onion and sage brioche and a baguette. The baguette was the least interesting of these but the general standard was very high, the textures very good (17/20). A further amuse-bouche of salmon tartare was paired with cooked salmon wrapped in cucumber with wasabi mayonnaise. It is good that real wasabi was used (a UK supplier) but the flavor was so subtle it scarcely impinged on the palate, leaving the taste of some merely pleasant Loch Duart salmon (15/20). Much better was truffle soup with wild mushrooms, orzo (short cut pasta), smoked ducked breast and a little celery. This had excellent flavour, the seasoning spot on (18/20).

Hand-dived scallops were pan fried with fregula (a pasta from Sardinia reminiscent of couscous), a Pernod velouté, fennel jelly and dill. The scallops were sweet and precisely cooked, the flavours harmonious (17/20). Quail was served as both roast breast and leg, with Swiss chard purée, lettuce salad, quail egg, quail Kiev sausage and an onion ring. This was a lovely dish, the quail beautifully cooked, the Kiev sausage in particular excellent, the richness balanced by the salad elements (18/20).

Sea bass was roasted and served with puy lentils, glazed salsify, cavolo nero, Japanese artichoke and trompette de la mort mushroom. The bass had excellent flavour, timed accurately with good crisp skin, the cabbage and lentils a nice earthy contrast to the fish (17/20).

Black leg chicken from Landes came with a ragout of white beans, seared scallop, red pepper and chorizo purée and a shellfish sauce. I was less convinced about this dish. The chicken had good but not great flavour despite its provenance, and red pepper puree has a metallic taste that for me did not pair that well. The cooking was precise, but I for me this was the weakest dish of the meal (15/20).

A pre-dessert served in a little glass was lemon cream, topped with jelly of miyagawa (a Japanese fruit rather like a clementine), vanilla foam and topped with dried passion fruit. This was very pleasant, the fruit certainly interesting (16/20). Vanilla and orange creme caramel came with golden grapes, ginger ice cream and roasted almonds. This was very carefully made, the texture lovely (17/20). Millefeuille of mango came with passion fruit ice cream, diced lychee gel, mango purée and white balsamic purée. This was excellent, the pastry delicate, the fruit flavour coming though nicely, the dish well balanced, the presentation pretty (18/20).

An array of petit fours were top drawer: delicate lemon tartelette, white chocolate fudge with cardamom, chocolate case with passion fruit, mango jelly, lovely beignet with cinnamon sugar, a frozen chocolate ball with coconut ice cream (18/20). These were really top class petit fours, with excellent coffee that was a proprietary blend.

Service under Mathieu Germond was excellent throughout the evening. The bill came to £152 a head with a good bottle of Bonny Doon Cigare Volant and pre-dinner drinks. This is hardly cheap, but the standard of the meal was high, a little better than my previous meal here soon after Marcus took over the kitchen.

I’m the first to recognise the benefits of a bit of forward planning and there are few times I exercise this gentle nod towards my mildly controlling nature more than when it involves the consumption of food.

If I’m visiting a new city, it is necessary for me to conduct prior research in order to establish the best eateries in the area and for the best value. If I’m visiting a new restaurant, I must peruse the online menu for some pre-dining salivation and decide ahead what I’ll be ordering (heaven forbid they don’t have a website or I’m presented with a different menu at the table). If I’m going food shopping, I simply must enter with a list or else I’ll have to invention-test the week's dinners from jumbo roasted corn kernels and Caerphilly, and not much else.

I have welcomingly had this week off work and I already knew that tonight myself and a couple of friends would end up at the London Cocktail Club on Goodge St. for some school-night merriment stretching into the wee hours (none of us had work the next day) – the great cocktails, dance-like-no-one-is-watching music from our yesteryears and fabulous staff make it our favourite haunt.

What we desired was an afternoon occupied by a long lunch consisting of equal parts exceptional solids and posh fizz as a pre-cursor to rolling ourselves over to the LCC in time for Happy Hour. And what better placed restaurant to help execute such an intricate plan than the one Michelin starred Pied a Terre on Charlotte Street strategically placed, quite literally, around the corner. I do love it when a plan comes together.
Boasting a lunch time deal that is reputedly ‘the best value Michelin star menu in London’ conjured up by Head Chef Marcus Eaves and his team, the term ‘pied a terre’ is given by the French to a small second home in the city – if the welcome, service and our leisurely and extended stay was anything to go by, it certainly lived true to its name.

My companions and I were seated at a corner table towards the rear of the restaurant in a dining area noticeably occupied mostly by men in suits on business lunches talking about closing deals. After some initial confusion on the waiter’s part with our order for a bottle of the Prosecco (which went something along the lines of ‘a bottle of Prosecco please’, ‘a glass?‘, ‘no a bottle of Prosecco’, ‘we only do champagne by the glass’, ‘no we’d like a whole bottle of Prosecco, not champagne’), we were presented with some very fine tasting bubbles and I’m not even the world’s greatest fan of white grapes.

To amuse the bouche our table was quickly furnished with quite exceptional fresh and warm bread (a particular favourite being the pillowy form of the walnut and pecan with a crisp and flavoursome exterior showcasing bread making skills to be applauded) and the creamy texture and mild flavour from what I think were Sicilian nocellara olives tossed in lemon. In addition, we were presented with hot potato and leek croquettes with truffle and a pretty scallop tempura served in a bowl I wanted to pilfer.

The tasting of rabbit starter had an overriding flavour of earthiness and included our furry nympho friend presented encased in a delicate ravioli, in the form of a ballotine I believe, and also with half a kidney thrown into the delivery. Whilst conservative in its offering, the plate was quite lovely on the palate and the frequent returns of the warm breads were welcomed and necessary to mop the white asparagus velouté. Unable to stomach the thought of consuming a flop-eared Disney extra, my companions decided upon the chestnut and juniper gnocchi; smooth in texture and seared in a pan for a crisper outer finish, this was served with mushrooms, quite beautiful marbled shavings of spring truffle, green beans, a mushroom vinaigrette and an arrangement of wild garlic flowers.

For mains, the roasted fillet of pollock was topped with a crisp crown of very good colour with equal taste and served with glazed baby artichokes, delicate and fine wild asparagus, a frothy mushroom cream and tarragon orzo – its vibrant and airy presentation singing all the right notes of spring.

I had selected the pork cheeks with a form of state that seemed as though the very molecules themselves were breaking down under the slightest pressure from the cutlery - meat that was delightfully falling away from itself and rich in the intense flavour characteristic of a long and low heat treatment. To accompany the cheeks was a quenelle of polenta with a smoothness of consistency I can only imagine is akin to eating spun silk and a basil jus which when poured neatly hugged around every individual item resulting in the plate just needing a frame to finish off the picture.

After plates were cleared, our trou normand was a mango sorbet topped with nuggets of dried yoghurt, nestled beside a coconut foam dressed with more nuggets in the form of concentrated dried passion fruit, and finished with a sprig of Thai basil – a perfect combination to cleanse the palate.

All three of us selected the same dessert from the du jour menu – a hazelnut praline mousse and Pedro Ximenez jelly, but we each requested the salted peanut ice cream from the a la carte menu instead of the rum and raisin as suggested. The waiter jovially joked that he had to dodge an incoming black eye when relaying our requests to the chef, but that they had been granted. The flavour of the dish was good with the addition of aniseed globules decorating the plate but the texture of the mousse and jelly was less appealing – a little rubbery and difficult to separate bite-fulls with the spoon.

We’d been darting glances of food envy across adjacent tables when we noticed small hot balls of sugar coated doughnuts delivered towards the end of diners meals and believed we had missed out on this petit fours, assuming it was a perk of the a la carte menu.

But praise to the powers that be, we were not only delivered these soft and warm balls of bliss, but also each received a trio of more petit fours – mango jelly, a miniature lemon tartelette with chiffon thin crisp pastry and a blow-torched top, and a piece of smooth tongue-coating white chocolate fudge. And the sweet treats didn’t stop there – in addition to our toy patisserie spread we were also treated to dark chocolate marbles filled with coconut ice cream. Like the familiar Italian chocolatier, they were really spoiling us.

Spoiling us not just with the delights on offer, but also with the service we received from the maître d' and our waiter. We were repeatedly assured to take our time and enjoy ourselves despite the venue emptying as the end of the lunch sitting drew closer.

When the waiter noticed our eyes light up at the arrival of the much coveted doughnuts, he assured us that should we desire more he would happily request them for us. An offer against the nature of three girls who like their food to pass, and true to form they were delivered. Not only that, but another trio of the jelly, tartelette and fudge as well as top-ups of our coffee. Impressive and more over, fully appreciated.

The expedition of the delivery of our courses was a little stalled with a noticeable expanse of time between ordering and receiving our first course. However, the front of house exercised great efforts to ensure our stomachs were not given the chance to rumble with frequent re-visits of the bread basket to our table.

The façade and interiors of Pied a Terre are sharp yet at ease, the dining experience one of unmonitored and comfortable relaxation. The devices of our small party were left to pave the beginnings of what turned out to be a great journey that evening, with staff still demonstrating attentiveness and leaving us feeling we had received special treatment. And a journey the evening truly was. It culminated in bumping into, and having a drink with the legend that is Monsieur Raymond Blanc. I suspect there are few finer ways of rounding off an already delightful day.

Liked lots - service, presentation, bread, bubbles, pigs cheeks, the relaxed atmosphere, petit fours, location around the corner to our favourite cocktail haunt
Liked less - dessert
Good for - business lunches, value Michelin lunch, first time Michelin experience, small groups, eating at before hitting the LCC

Pied à Terre is somewhere you always want to come back to, although the cost keeps this place very much in the arena of a special occasion venue.

We have had so many great culinary experiences here over the years.

Phenomenal! One of the best Michelin starred experiences I had at one of the longest standing starred restaurant in London. The menu, French-Greek fusion (from the talented Greek executive chef Asimakis) is simply phenomenal. Every dish is an artistic masterpiece and every plate a sensual explosion of senses, colour, taste, texture and fragrance all in one. Service is fantastic, attentive and discreet and the sommelier very knowledgeable and amusing indeed.

Stunning dinner experience at Pied a Terre. The vegan dinner tasting menu was divine, and each vegan wine paired with the dishes elevated the dish in different ways. The service was impeccable. We were well taken care off from even before we arrived. We celebrated our engagement at the restaurant which we were congratulated about upon arriving. I will look back on the Mayan chocolate mousse with particular fondness. I've never tasted chocolate that rich.

Exceptional dining at Pied a Terre The chef's special steak was succulent and perfectly seasoned, the sides were fresh and flavorful, and the decadent chocolate lava cake concluded the meal on a high note. With friendly service and a cozy atmosphere, this is a must-visit for food lovers. 5/5

A stunning dining experience from start to finish! The tasting menu was made delicious with the Executive Chef's greek touch - my personal highlights were the Egg kayana and the Greek salad. The English sparkling rose wine recommended by the somelier was also exquisite. Excellent service, and very accommodating of allergies.

Went here for my parents' (49th) wedding anniversary having been a couple of times years ago. It's not cheap (though not as expensive as a lot of other top-quality London restaurants, and with a range of menus/choices at different prices depending on day of the week, and cheaper prices at lunchtime), but absolutely fabulous food, including equal treatment for vegetarians and vegans. Friendly and helpful staff, a calm and tranquil oasis away from the hubbub!

Came here last night for private dining, as a cosy wedding dinner party for the family. The food was stellar and the staff spectacular. I honestly cannot find any fault in how things went last night and I cannot recommend this place highly enough for anyone who is looking for a 5* experience. P.S. I am sorry for the mess my 1 year old made! 🥲

Obviously, one of the finest Michelin restaurants in London, but their plant based menus is the best in London. I am not a vegetarian, but I like their sophistication from nutritious perspective.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Pied a Terre that offers an 8-course tasting menu, and I must say it was an exquisite culinary experience. Here is my detailed review: Ambiance: The restaurant had a cozy and elegant atmosphere, with dimmed lighting. The tables were well-spaced, allowing for a comfortable and private dining experience. The overall ambiance created a relaxing and upscale feel. Service: The restaurant's service was exceptional from start to finish. The staff was knowledgeable, attentive, and professional. They provided detailed descriptions of each dish and were readily available whenever we needed assistance. The pacing between each course was just right, allowing us to savor and appreciate each dish. Food: The highlight of the evening was, of course, the 8-course tasting menu. Each course was a work of art, perfectly crafted and beautifully presented. The flavors were well-balanced, and the ingredients used were fresh and high-quality. It was evident that a great deal of thought and creativity went into the menu. Some standout dishes included: 1. Eggs Kayianna: A bite-sized delight that set the tone for the meal. It was a refreshing combination of flavors that left us excited for what was to come. 2. Oven Roasted Celeriac "Scallop": A perfectly seared “scallop” served with a delicate pickled beetroot and accompanied by Caper leaves. The freshness was evident, and the combination of flavors was exquisite. 3. Feville de Brick - Chablis : A succulent piece of Chablis cheese served with a rich green Apricot Jam and a medley of Cornish Leaf Salad. The cheese is filtered through Chablis to give it its name. 4. Strawberry Milleteuille : A decadent strawberry Milleteuille served with a cream Diplomat. The milleteuille was smooth and velvety, while the basil added a refreshing touch. It was a delightful end to the meal. Overall Experience: Dining at this restaurant and experiencing the 8-course tasting menu was truly a memorable experience. The attention to detail in every aspect, from the ambiance to the service and, most importantly, the food, was commendable. The quality and creativity of the dishes made it well worth the price. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience, whether it be for a special occasion or simply to indulge in a culinary adventure.

A Symphony of Flavors at the Exquisite Culinary Art Show on Charlotte Street My dining experience at this coveted culinary retreat on Charlotte Street was nothing short of extraordinary. An ambiance that seamlessly fused charm and sophistication, the establishment served as a fitting backdrop to the true star of the evening - the gastronomic delights curated by Paolo and his supremely skilled team. Their royal treatment towards guests was evident from the start, transforming an ordinary dining event into a truly majestic affair. As we embarked on the 10-course dinner tasting journey, each dish seemed a unique chapter in a flavorful story. Complementing the sublime culinary experience was the expertise of the in-house sommelier, whose recommendations proved flawless and took our gustatory adventure to unparalleled heights. The tantalizing prelude of Canapes was intriguing, each unique and resplendent with complex flavors. The "Eggs Kayianna Fish and Chip Smoked Sardines" offered a sublime fusion of textures, while the "Variegated Cauliflower with Smoked Trout Mousse" paired exquisitely with the zesty twist of Hayward Kiwi. Their reimagining of the humble cod in "Salted Cod Skordolia" was a study in culinary innovation. The crescendo continued with dishes like "White Asparagus with Crayfish" and "Red Mullet Farci", each elegantly adorned with caviars and sauces that danced harmoniously on the palate. The "Assiette of French Rabbit" was a tender tribute to traditional fare, while the "Feuille de Brick" offered a delightful play on textures and flavors. The tasting journey was rounded off with a medley of divine desserts, the standout being the "Strawberry Millefeuille" and the intricate "Canele de Bordeaux", each crafted with such precision and passion that they were, in their own right, masterpieces of culinary artistry. The stellar reputation of this Michelin 2023 restaurant is truly deserved. It is more than just a dining destination, it is a veritable celebration of gastronomy. Every dish is a testament to the team's commitment to high-quality ingredients, innovative techniques, and their unwavering commitment to providing an unparalleled dining experience. With a team that treats its patrons as royalty and a menu that reads like an ode to fine dining, this restaurant on Charlotte Street is a must-visit culinary spectacle for all those who seek to experience a symphony of flavors. It is, beyond doubt, the epitome of top-tier dining.

I attended pied a terre as a group of 4. This restaurant popped my Michelin star cherry and I’m so glad… the “Greek salad” is texturally like nothing you’ll ever taste and the canapés (especially the egg) are unbeatable. However service is the stand out; for any questions about the food suze was always there and Kieran was an absolute gem with our wine and drinks throughout. A touch I especially appreciated (as the solo smoker on the table) is being offered company as I smoked outside. A real customer focussed service. Special shout-out to paulo (I hope I have the spelling right) for advice with spirits and cocktails. Thank you so much for a FABULOUS meal

Two michelin stars at time. First time there very casual assistants and we talked a lots since my French is actually good; second time there are different assistants, quite arrogants. Anyway the food was amazing as we would to expect.

Great food, pleasant atmosphere. My better half chose the restaurant for its vegan offerings, all of which were most excellent.

My wife and I had the taster menu here a few months ago, and we unfortunately forgot to leave a review at the time. We are not used to fine dining, and were somewhat nervous about the whole experience. Every single person in the restaurant made us feel so welcome, even though we were totally out of our depth, and were ever so helpful with every course. The food was unbelievably good! It was like a science I couldn't ever understand, but wholeheartedly enjoyed. I think the thing that I enjoyed most of all about this restaurant is the fact that the owner took the time to speak to my wife and I before and during the meal to explain everything, without making us feel like we didn't belong there. I would recommend Pied a Terre to anyone, it's absolutely top!
