You know sometimes people don’t give the restaurants in east London enough credit. Sure, Tower Hamlets doesn’t exactly boast a huge amount of Michelin star eateries, but as our recent visit to My Old Place shows there are some serious contenders hidden away. Unlike my Old Place Place, whose modest interiors completely hide the fantastic food on offer, Palmer’s Restaurant absolutely looks the part. Yes the restaurant is tiny, but it’s also bright, clean and sophisticated, so much so it’s a figurative beacon that shines out against the otherwise rather gloomy Bethnal Green.
Great value for money and the food is always very fresh
Never dissapointed. I have a real soft spot for this place. Food is consistently good or excellent. The prices are reasonable. The staff are friendly. My only criticism is the decor which I think could be more atmospheric and imaginative but that really is an after thought.
Palmers - an absolute favourite. I am passionate about how much I love this restaurant. The menu is short but perfect and regularly updated. The starters are incredibly tasty, so much so that I often forgo a main to have two fairly generous starters. The quality of the food is great and the place is immaculate. A brilliant family run business and the price is nice. Check it out!
It was a surprise as i was finding a nice restaurant to have dinner but apparently not many still open. And then i found Palmers. The staff were very nice and welcoming. I love restaurant was pretty bright and you felt cozy in it. Food was amazing. I had oysters and skate, both were wonderful. The samphire was a Tad salty but overall it was very tasty. And finally the coffee creme brûlée was a complete finish for the meal. I was really glad to come by and try this restaurant!
Bit out of the way, but it's definitely worth a visit. I went on a bank holiday weekend, Saturday lunch and there was me and one other customer. This was a shame as the food was very good. I very much enjoyed my crab linguine. My main was Cod with Cauliflower mash, walnuts, and raisins. I think there were a few too many raisins and it was heavy on the butter. I have also decided I don't like Cauliflower Mash, but the cod was excellent. Freshly made Chocolate pudding for desert rounded it all off. Great food, well cooked. I shall be coming back for a future visit.
Really a little gem, excellent modern European menus, easy laid back comfortable eating restaurant (but big overpowering) good wine selection , seek and you'll find a well run decent restaurant.
Amazing food…talented chefs…Every time we come here, the menu offers something new. Seafood starters are must-have and nothing can go wrong for the mains. I had Chicken Supreme cooked with nduja, kidney beans and vegi today and I fell in love with it. 🥰 Btw the portions are very generous.
Their Sirloin steaks are big, tasty & so nicely cooked.
Their real chips are to die for
The restaurant ambience & atmosphere as a whole was very nice, comfortable & happy, our 1st visit chose by reading on-line reviews, will definitely be returning.
Also really liked the open view & well ventilated kitchen, so customers can see the chefs doing their magic....
10/10
Best Sunday roast in London!
We’ve been coming to Palmer’s for over 10 years now and it’s hands down the best restaurant in Bow, and dare I say, the best Sunday roast in London!
This lovely little gem of a restaurant is family-run and chef-lead spot with large portioned quality food at reasonable prices. They have delicious natural wines to pair and an amber Czech beer on tap, which my partner says is delicious.
We had maldon oysters to start, which we scoffed before I could take a photo of, roast chicken and roast beef for mains (I’ve had both and the beef is the better of the two), and a lovely molten chocolate pudding for dessert.
My partner asked for extra roast potatoes (he’s “hungry” like that) and they happily obliged. My only wish is that they bring back their incredible bouillabaisse, which I’m obsessed with! Seriously the most delicious I’ve ever had.
I highly recommend this friendly spot.
Been here a few times and have always been pleasantly surprised by the quality of food, sizable proportions, and moderate pricing. Food is some of the best I've had in London. An underrated restaurant for sure with a cozy atmosphere.
Overall was good, quiet, clean space and people are friendly. The price is not bad. The only thing İ would recommend to improve is saltiness of tuna sauce (a bit too salty) and asking the guest how they would like their red meat (ours was a bit on rare side rather than rare medium).
Our favorite place to eat in London. Steaks are always great, menu changes frequently, and highlights on the menu usually feature some unique flavours. I couldn’t recommend this place more.
I’ve been three times and each time has been excellent. Menu changes regularly but there’s always a great variety of options including the wine list. Service is excellent too and I love the vibe of the place. It’s not busy, quite relaxed but at the same time you feel you are about to enjoy something unique! Will keep coming back!
