I am well acquainted with the word Brat.  Usually hurled as an almost expletive when I was growing up with my brother, it would not be my first choice for a restaurant name.  It brings back too many memories of rather rancorous arguments. However, I would think that calling your restaurant after a word that might be likely to cause friction was not the intention.  Hopping on to google, I found the real reason for the name.

This place was divine! Everything from the small plates of Velvet Crab to Grilled Bread with Chanterelle & Truffle culminating in the Smoked Cod’s Roe were outstanding.

Greg our gracious server was exemplary in answering our questions and in sharing his recommendations which were spot on! Having just arrived from Chicago for a visit with our daughter, we were eager to try everything.

After ordering their signature Whole Turbot, we were tempted to also add two more main dishes. Greg cautioned us that one more dish would suffice so luckily we took his advice. Choosing the Wood Pigeon, we were entirely captivated by the intense flavor and quality.

The turbot was presented by sous chef Zach who brilliantly explained the cooking process from grill to oven. It was easy to eat with the fillets separated from the collar and other parts. It was a challenge to finish everything but the fish was so good, nothing but bones were left. Smoked potatoes were another must have.

Despite our satiated state, we managed to share some burnt cheesecake and caramel cream. Paired together it was even more delicious. We had a fabulous time - great unpretentious service, locally sourced and uniquely prepared. A memorable experience!

We went there for lunch and it was one of THE BEST experiences I had in food industry. We didn’t book so we walked-in and sat at the bar. Every plate we picked was full of flavour, surprising taste and texture. Dishes were simple but mastered to perfection. I think menu changes from time to time what makes it even more exciting to come back to. Nice selection of wines and spirits. Nice ambience with old deco located on the upper level of the building. Waiters with cool and casual uniforms. We had a good recommendations from a Waiter about the wines although I was missing his smile and enthusiasm. The others seem to have the same kind of attitude. That’s why I gave one star less for service. Overall I love the place and recommend it to all my friends visiting London. I look forward going back too.

One of our top restaurants in London. The menu changes based on what’s in season. The thick cut bread is our favourite in the city. The house made chorizo and duck rice are so flavourful. Friendly and attentive service. The space is well designed, cozy pub vibes. Highly recommend!

Absolutely fantastic restaurant with, in my view, the best steak in London. It is very busy with excellent service, just something to be aware of is that it’s a pretty small space with the tables very close together. The noise is not too bad but I was with a guest who is hard of hearing who did find it difficult to ask the waiter questions.

Our meal at Brat was simply one of the best we enjoyed during our stay in London. We heard about your wonderful restaurant from friends back home in the US and then saw it featured on Someone Feed Phil. The experience was amazing, the service, the ambiance, and the food was incredibly delicious. The Turbot had me sucking on the bones to get every morsel, the squid was exquisite, and the bread made for an excellent tool to capture the sauce of the turbot. I would recommend anyone visiting London must make it a goal to stop by your fine establishment. Cheers

Brat, in my opinion, is a culinary gem with outstanding food that never fails to impress. The flavors and creativity that go into each dish are simply remarkable, making it a haven for food enthusiasts. However, I do feel that the staff's attentiveness could be improved to match the high standard of the cuisine. While the service isn't lacking, a bit more attention to detail would enhance the overall dining experience. Additionally, some might find the menu slightly overpriced, but considering the exceptional quality of ingredients and the culinary expertise, it's a price I'm willing to pay for a memorable meal. Despite these minor points, Brat remains our favorite restaurant. The unique flavors and the cozy ambiance create an unforgettable dining atmosphere that keeps us coming back for more.

One of my top three restaurants in London. The atmosphere of the restaurant is so welcoming. The sort of place where you could have a 3hr meal and not even notice it. The food is incredible, the drink list is always well curated and the restaurant design is quaint and traditional. I highly recommend this restaurant. The only thing to note is that the mains are priced quite high, so sometimes we’ll get a bunch of smaller sharing plates instead (but this may not be the best strategy if you’re really hungry).

What a find. Every dish we had was high quality and unusual. The duck rice was exceptional. Burnt cheesecake didn't sound great but was light and delicious. Vino Verde accompanied everything with a nice refreshing fizz. The staff were welcoming & knowledgeable. We will be back.

The restaurant is situated on the first floor up narrow stairs. The space is industrial with an open kitchen and a relaxed ambiance. Service was friendly, however we had the feeling they were pushing us to take more dishes than we originally considered. Food was tasty, The crab - a simple dish had a good sauce cooking we had fish - the clams were replaced by vegetables in consideration of dietary restrictions. The pork neck ribs ere very tasty but had more fat than I could finish. The greens side dish had interesting spicing and preparation but was hard - more suitable for the biologic pig I ate. Good restaurant, however I am not sure it merits a Michelin star.

Have been planning to come here for a while now, and finally managed to for a birthday. The food was good, you can taste the fresh ingredients. We loved everything we ordered, except the olive oil ice cream, which was just ok and had ice flakes inside. It was a reasonable price for what you get in terms of food quality. The wait between the small plates and the mains was far too long. There are too many tables compared to how many cooks there are preparing all the food. The tables are definitely “closely spaced” as it mentions on the website. They are uncomfortably close. The staff was attentive, but something was lacking. We mentioned that one of the mains was priced incorrectly on the bill, there was no apology, just that the bill will be amended. There was an additional charge for charity. Granted we did not ask to take it off, but it was not mentioned anywhere on the website, menu or by the staff. Lastly, it was a birthday and noted on the system. I did not expect much, but it is simple to “make someone’s day” with a small gesture, be it by greeting them or even just writing a message on the plate of the dessert.

Michelin star Brat restaurant is truly a culinary gem deserves a visit. The restaurant's focus on wood-fired dishes creates a unique and delightful dining experience. The ambiance is nice but a bit in a serious side. I think the staff and the atmosphere can be a little bit more upbeat and warmer side.

Deserves all the praise and should be booked ahead. I had a seat facing the open staging/firing area and loved seeing how the many, many, turbot were grilled by the totally unfazed chefs - it was so fun to watch. We tried several things and particularly loved the langoustines - which were unexpectedly bursting with roe. Those along with the buttery smoked potatoes felt almost too decadent.

This restaurant was an unplanned adventure (out of character for me) but it ended up being a delightful surprise. As I stepped in, expecting more of a pub-like atmosphere, I was treated to a seat at he bar right away where you can watch the culinary magic unfolding in the kitchen. Every dish I ordered was a delight, but the tartare and flatbread truly stood out. That cheesecake though - to die for! Food: 5 Service: 4 Ambience: 5

Visited Brat for our birthdays - Brat has been on our wishlist for a while now. Service was attentive and fast which we appreciate. Food, while generally tasty, didn’t quite live up to the expectations of a Michelin restaurant. Starters included bread and oysters, which were ok at best. For mains we had sirloin and the dory - steak was pretty good but you could probably get the same at a cheaper price at a steak house. Fish was tender albeit bland. For sides we had potatoes which did not impress. Overall it was a decent experience but perhaps we went in with too much expectations.

Fantastic restaurant that we have been a regular. Service was great and friendly and attentive with a relaxed environment. Delicious food with simple cookery over wood fire – less is more! Grilled bread with anchovies is a must! Spider crab on toast as starter; Mutton, Beef Rib and Turbot for main if there are enough people to share! Those potatoes as sides are to die for as well! Not a huge dessert person but the cheese (st judes) and cheesecake wrapped up our meal. Wine list is also great – a lot of Spanish wine! Seaweed cocktail and bloody mary are both very tasty if you fancy an aperitif.

The starters at this restaurant are truly delightful. The combination of oyster and cucumber creates a refreshing and unique flavor. Sourdough bread is a standout with its excellent flavor and texture. Duck rice dish is delicious, although the rice initially appeared dry. However, upon requesting a replacement, it improved significantly. The restaurant itself can be a bit crowded, with limited space between tables. Nevertheless, it is definitely worth a visit for the overall experience and the delectable flavors offered.

Lovely night out at Brat. The stand out experience was our server, a blonde lady who could not have done more to make us feel more welcomed. She took special care to explain each dish, fill our glasses, and humored our questions, all with a beaming smile which made our night memorable. The food and wine were very good, we had the Turbot, pork, crab toast, vegetables, cheesecake and olive oil ice cream. Of the dishes, the turbot was delicious with a sweet, smooth, and firm flesh with just a hint of nuttiness. Olive oil ice cream was unique with many dimensions to the dish.

Great dinner! I've been there with a few friends for dinner and it was amazing! We shared a few starters and a few main dishes. The prices are quite high on the alcohol department, but the price of the food is not hard to deal with, especially when we're talking about amazing quality, attention to detail and great service. Don't hesitate to take a steak on the bone, they're great.

It was a very tasty Sunday lunch (2023-05-21) to celebrate a birthday, I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a decent place for a special occasion. 😎 Really good hospitality, quick service, knowledgeable waitresses, all dishes were consistently well executed, which made it quite hard to pick a single highlight. 😋 the grilled bread with anchovies and the smoked potatoes might sound simple but their flavours and texture truly took my by surprise, make sure you try them if you go.

Okay food but expensive and nothing life changing, not sure why it has so much hype or if it still has a michelin star! Stand out dish was actually the grilled corn but I think that’s heavily reliant on the corn being in season. Duck was cooked perfectly on the duck rice but felt like a small portion. The rice was super rich. Everything tasted very salty, I think the chef may be a bit heavy handed on the salt here. Other dishes: Cod’s roe on leek was nice and sweet. Hake was cooked perfectly, tender. Red peppers were sweet and tangy. The anchovy bread was good but not “best bread of my life” (nor top 10 actually). Beef tartare was just okay. One thing to note is you are really squeezed in and the tables are basically touching each other, so don’t come here for private conversations like break ups or confidential business info haha. It feels more like a canteen in some ways. Also don’t plan on a quick dinner, it took 30 mins for them to get to taking our order and the table next door had to rush off before they finished all their food because it took longer than expected.
