My sister had ordered some cupcakes and we just picked them up from the shop. It wasn't too difficult to get to even with a pram. The pink sign on the outside was a bit hard to see but keep an eye out for blackboard advertising cakes, cupcakes and coffee. It wasn't very big inside the shop but the display cabinets were fairly large and there was a fairly decent selection of flavours. We got a selection of 2 large cupcakes and 6 small ones. They were quite easy to eat. The frosting was quite tasty and the cupcake quite soft. It was a nice treat.

Great place to grab a coffee and eat a (huge) slice of cake or just a cupcake when shopping in Soho. Cakes and cupcakes are amazing, the frosting is delicious! Honest price for a slice of cake. Don't expect to seat once the space is really small.

This is the official outlet of the tube baking sensation. The cupcakes are first class and won’t disappoint. Fresh, light and buttery, with real ingredients no fake chemicals and additives to worry about. It’s a guilt free pleasure! The place is small not possible to host a group sitting so take away is your best option. Staff were very patient and smiling faces all round highly recommend.

CUTEST CUPCAKES IN LONDON! Love, love, love Crumbs & Dollies. Cosy little cakery in Soho. Staff are super friendly and happy. Cakes are fresh, moist and super sweet. Such a huge, delicious range of flavours, all of which are sound super appealing. We loved the PB&J cupcake and the jammydodger™️ cupcake. We also tried the Snickers brownie but were a tad disappointed as it was super hard at the bottom and we struggled to bite through it, which slightly ruined the moment... But we recommend everything else but that 🙅🏻‍♀️

TIP: Do buy the mini cupcakes, so you can eat more & try all the flavours - trust us you won’t be able to choose just one! Don’t forget to get a lil’ slice of brownie on the side -Biscoff™️, Peanut Butter & Jelly, Oreo, Cookie Dough, or Cinnamon & Apple 🍎 🍏

I tried the tiramisu cupcake and my friend had the vanilla rose, I actually liked my choice better since I'm more of a tiramisu fan. But both were really good, definitely would come back to try other flavors.

When we came to Soho we knew we have to visit Crumbs & Doilies. My sister and I are added to the Cupcake Jemma YouTube channel.

I got a PB&J and speculoos mini cupcakes.
They are picture perfect and almost, almost too cute to eat. The flavour is perfect with the right balance of texture, sweetness and creaminess. The buttercream is luscious and the cake is light and moist.

If you're in the neighbourhood you have to pop by a grab a bite.

This cute little coffee and cake shop can be easily missed otherwise but when you see a long queue outside it grabs your attention. The cupcake display here makes me keep looking at them. They have the most presentable cupcakes I have seen. They are just so pretty! The coffee is not bad, but the hot chocolate with really warm you up on a typical grey and cloudy day in London. The only thing I wish is this was a little bigger and I could spend more time inside admiring and hogging some more cupcakes. They do take orders for ocassions...Looking forward to that. And needless to mention , the cupcakes are amazing, soft, moist and perfect sweet.

The cupcakes here are a little pricey, but they look amazing and taste even better. Would love to see some gluten free cake and brownie options as well as the gf cupcakes.

I absolutely spoiled myself in this shop and treated myself and my partner to 4 mini cupcakes and their apple crumble cheesecake slices. Firstly I would highly recommend getting several mini cupcakes to try everything! I got the salted caramel, solo, bannoffe and red velvet. They were all perfect, not too sweet but still full of flavour. They have a gluten free alternative and vegan cupcake too that I have to go back and try. My favourite from my purchases was the apple crumble cheesecake though. It was perfect and can't wait to return to get more.

It’s really hard to not love cupcakes, especially those delicate handcrafted ones! In celebration of National Cupcake Week, I decided to write about this cupcake place I’ve come across a while ago. This place is called Crumbs & Doilies. I remember seeing this small and charismatic shop sitting on that little cobbled passageway between Kingly Court & Beak Street in Carnaby. I never went in to check it out though. It was until the Carnaby Street Eat Festival back in late July when I get to see what they’re all about.

Difficult to find the place but once you're there you won't want to leave! A beautiful selection of freshly made cupcakes with large and mini sizes available to appease those who have difficulty choosing like me. Great flavours like bourbon, banoffee, summer fruit with custard, salted caramel, Nutella and bounty. Even if you do get a selection of little ones like I did, you'll wish you up-sized once you take a bite!

I have never been a cupcakes' lover. I have always considered cupcakes as beautiful as icky, as colourful as sugary, as seductive as "nothing to do with a real grandma cake"...All of this before trying "Crumbs & Doilies".
In cupcakes world, small is always better than big. And this is what I suggest you to do when enter the light blue door of kingly Court: go wild and pick up at least 4 different small sweets.
It doesn't matter which one you will choose, all of the 24 flavour will surprise you.
If I Were you, I would eat lemon and poppyseed.
Will you succeed eating only one?

I've been a Cupcake Jemma fan for a long time now and had been looking forward to visiting her bakery. C&D did not disappoint! My fellow cake fanatic friend and I ordered one of every flavour they had. My favourites were the Peanut butter and jelly (classic combination of sweet, salty and nutty), Biskoff (great texture) and the Banoffee (can't go wrong with banana+toffee). The cakes themselves were really moist with the frosting to cake ratio just right. Jemma most certainly did justice to the hype.

Some days I want cake. (Okay. EVERY day I want cake, but I don’t actually eat cake every day.) On this occasion, our usual cake vendor was closed for a special event. It was pretty devastating actually, standing around outside the shop watching everyone inside enjoying themselves at a private event eating that cake that you so desperately deserve (okay, want), waiting for your cake-eating partner to show up and cry with you over the lack of cake in your life. Especially as the cakes there are not your typical British cakes. In likelihood of offending all British people everywhere, what’s with your really dry, over-sweetened cakes? I just don’t understand the point of making a dessert that actually requires cream in order to make it palatable. What do you do in that lack of cake situation? I mean, basically you find another cake shop, and hope it’s as good as that cake you’ve been dreaming about for the past thirty minutes. And that’s the story about how Vicky and I ended up at Crumbs & Doilies.

The best cupcake in town! Moist sponge and light buttercream. My personal favourite is the salted caramel pretzel cupcake, the chocolate sponge is so soft and moist accompanied by light salted caramel cream. They also serves good coffee but try to come before 5pm as sometimes they ran out of cake by that time. It's a shame that they don't have that many seatings so best to take away..

Stopped by for a pre-work coffee and slice of cake, having drooled over the Crumbs & Doilies Instagram for a while now I finally took the plunge and dove straight into a slice of Biscoffy cakey goodness!

Yet another impressive flat white in my coffee explorations around London along with perhaps one of the best slices of cake I've had recently. It was so massive I couldn't finish it and had to get it boxed up to take away (I didn't even manage half) it received a unanimous thumbs up from the girls at work! 👍🏼

One of the best cupcakes in London. That's true! There's a lot of different types of cupcakes, with different textures, flavours and sizes and they are all fresh. I really like to go there once in a while. The staff is amazing, even when it's busy. The only thing that is not so good is the price: sometimes you spend a little bit more than the amount of money that you're willing to spend in a type of food like this.

amazing little place tucked into Kingly Court that has the most divine bakes you will eat in the area. Daily changing menu, so you could (and I would) try something new each time you go in. Staff are great too, Maya always happy to recommend which treat you should try. Cookie Dough cupcake is heavenly.

Nipped in for a quick nosey at the cakes, came out with 3 things to try.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh boy! SNICKERS BROWNIE what glorious madness is this?! One of the biggest regrets of my life was cutting this in half before trying to share with the man. Never again, should have shoved it in whole before he could even see it. It was just the best texture and flavour combination and elation sensation ever.

So that's that one covered, the others were Eton Mess and Lemon & poppyseed mini cupcakes. These were both nice and beautifully made, just slightly overshadowed by THE AMAZING SNICKERS EXPLOSION IN MY MOUTH.

The guy behind the counter was friendly and the shop is a titchy little cute place on the way in to Kingly Court. Well worth a treat or 2. or 3. or 4. or whatever.

The first mention of the cupcake can be traced as far back as 1796 where cakes were often baked in the individual pottery cups, ramekins, or molds from which the cupcake took their name. A standard cupcake uses the same basic ingredients as standard-sized cakes: butter, sugar, eggs, and flour; and are usually topped with frosting or other elaborate decorations. In the more extreme cases, they may even be filled with frosting, fruit, or pastry cream. They are not the most difficult things to make in theory and even the most novice baker could probably manage a batch. Such is their simplicity that they provide the perfect introduction to those just getting into baking.

So what is it that sets a cupcake apart from a CUPCAKE? Well the tangible difference is the quality of ingredients; what is less evident is the creativity and skill of the baker - until you set foot in Crumbs and Doilies (C&D).

Located intimately in Soho's newest trend hub Kingly Court, C&D is the brainchild of the genius that is baking queen Jemma Wilson. If that name sounds familiar, that should come as no surprise as it's hard to escape from the renown author and Jamie's Foodtube star.

From streetfood traders to this brick and mortar, I've followed the development of C&D and taken great interest since first falling in love with their red valvet cupcake at Partridge Market in West London all those years ago. Fast forward to now and, lead by Jemma, they've gone from strength to strength, truly testing and pushing the boundaries of what baking can achieve.

This is no more evident and neatly summarised than in the cupcake box I recently got my hands on which contained the flavours Cookie dough, PB&J, Rolo, Blueberry cheesecake, Buttered popcorn and Cinnamon toast. This is one 6-pack I can definitely get to work on.

Individually, each cupcake was distinctive, taking on a unique twist in an otherwise largely traditional recipe. For example, the PB&J was delicately filled to the brim with jam then topped off expertly with the most intense peanut butter buttercream frosting whilst the attention to detail paid to the blueberry cheesecake extended to even a biscuit base. But the one that rules them all is undoubtably the Rolo. With its, rich dark chocolate body encasing a thick molten caramel core, it proves to be a very fair representation of the real thing and my pick for anyone's first C&D experience.

So if like me and you're not impartial to a good cupcake or three, don't pass on a visit to C&D. If a visit to Kingly doesn't tickle your fancy, follow them on Twitter and track them down at a local market.

I love cake. All types of cake, just give me cake, please? Felicia kindly took me to Crumbs and Doilies to satisfy my cake craving. So many cakes, I was in heaven! As I approached my February detox, I knew that it right to go for the mini cupcakes instead of the large ones and have two instead of just one - I get to try the more than one flavour then! They were divine. So soft, moist and yummy. I was so content and ready to devour the whole counter, but that would be silly... wouldn't it Aftab? Yes... Maybe... No it wouldn't... give me them all!

I will definitely be returning to Crumbs and Doilies to see what other yummy cupcakes and cakes they have on offer!

Having a sweet tooth, I have tried a fair few bakeries around London, and I have come away with some firm favourites. For brownies – Konditor & Cook or Bad Brownie. For ice cream, Gelupo or La Gelateria. Rinkoffs are the place to go for Croughdoughs. For cake, I pretty much turn to Hummingbird Bakery time and again though Lola’s and Flavourtown Bakery deserve a mention for their cupcakes.

But I think there is somewhere else to add to my list of old reliables. It’s a shame they’re owned by that annoying Jemma girl on London Live but early signs are that they’re good enough to overlook this minor flaw. One Sunday I went for a leisurely stroll from my place in Bethnal Green to Carnaby Street. A mere hour and 20 minutes later I was inside Crumbs & Doilies. I had already perused their many cakes online and I was a little disappointed they didn’t have such a big selection to choose from. There was one type of cake only, and about 6 cupcake flavours. However, they rotate their flavours daily so if they don’t have anything you fancy one day (unlikely), they probably will the next.

I could only eat so much so perhaps it was best that it made choosing much easier. I had particularly liked the looks of the cakes online, and the one in the shop sounded right up my street – chocolate and coffee – so I had a slice of that. I also got a mini banoffee cupcake so I could taste a range. It’s not cheap but it’s about the same price as the other bakeries I’ve mentioned.

I was impressed with what I had. The slice of cake was light and not dry. I really liked the icing and the crunchy chocolate crumb on the top, though the dark chocolate icing was a little plasticky. A minor quibble. It was good enough for me to know this wouldn’t be my last visit.

I saved the mini cupcake for a dessert bite later on. For such a small cupcake it had a lot going on – a layer of toffee cake at the bottom, then a later of banana flavoured cake, with some fairly decent icing on top – not too thick and sickly, though not quite the American frosting that I favour. Good enough to tempt me back and see what they do with other flavours. They had your typical red velvet but also mint chocolate chip, cherry bakewell and peanut butter and jelly when I went, and when fellow bloggers Fresh and Fearless and Dancing in High Heels went they had a caramel pretzel cake, and offerings including rolo, coconut and raspberry and earl grey for their cupcakes! How am I going to resist going back almost immediately?

After having the Crumbs & Doilies cookery book for a few months and baking some incredible cupcakes I have been so excited to make my first visit to the bakery itself. I am pleased to say it didn't disappoint. We bought 2 mini cupcakes in each of the 6 flavours a Birthday cookie and a Bueno Cookie. The Choc Caramel Cornflake cupcake was just incredible!!!! We've never had a plant based cupcake before and they were surprisingly delicious. Thank you Crumbs & Doilies.

Got a bunch of stuff on our last day in London since the cookies and brownie would keep in plastic bags. Their flavors are on point! Birthday cake and cereal milk are subtler flavors so I was really impressed with these cookies. The cereal milk cupcake was yummy too, the cake part had a cornbread vibe and I enjoyed the caramelized cornflakes on top. The cereal milk caramel brownie (???) was like a Rice Krispies treat but with cornflakes and caramel instead of Rice Krispies and marshmallow. Great hint of salt on their caramelized cornflakes. Would skip the birthday cake tea which didn’t taste very birthday cake-y, but the actual baked goods are excellent. The cookie textures were a bit dry, but made up for by how good the interesting flavors were.

Best cupcakes in the world. After watching Jemma on YouTube for a few years and using her perfect recipes, I knew I had to visit when I come through the area. Unique flavors with perfect execution, I have never had anything this delightful. Priced fairly for its quality, I would recommend this to everyone. If you are visiting London, make your way here, even if it’s a trek.

Their cupcakes r so cute, moist and flavorful. Best thing is that there r different flavors and holiday specials so u can always get something new never get enough!!! The mini cupcakes r also super nice for a small treat for yourself. Very delightful. Their cookies r humongous and so tasty as well. We got the chocolate raspberry one. The decadent dark chocolate and the acidity and fruitiness of the raspberry jam paired really well together. LOVE

Edit: I did come back and the experience was much better! I really liked the hot cross bun cupcakes - 100% would buy again if they make this a regular. They also have cute packaging. I know Cupcakes Jemma since I was 15 (i’m now 21). I was quite excited to finally visit C&D in Soho when I got the chance to study abroad for a semester in London. However, the store let me down a bit with its rather depressing ambiance (very dim light, small space, unfriendly-looking staff, etc) It was a whole different vibe from what the videos or their social media potrayed. The cupcakes were decent otherwise, tho could be less sweet. I’m glad they offer mini cupcakes so that you get to try different flavors. I hope there are more interesting flavors for the cupcakes like what they make on Youtube. Will give it another try next time

It might a biased review since I started baking watching YouTube channel of cupcakejemma who owns the Cafe. I was in a different country when I found this channel and always wondered how the cupcake and cookies tasted from the bakery! I finally got the chance to be here today and it tasted just how I imagined. Absolutely delicious and made with love!

The iced mocha was nice and strong! The mini cupcakes were great because it means you can try a few and not feel bad. The lemon and poppy seed was the best flavor we tried, followed by the cinnamon and apple. The cookies and cream, and Bostom cream pie cupcakes were fine, but in the dry side.

I'm a baker myself and love to hop around bakeries and cupcakes shops from time to time. Crumbs and Doillies are by far the best cupcakes I have tried out there! So moist, fresh, the cake itself is not too sweet like many other places these days, buttercream is just right, fluffy and full of flavour. Grabbed a too good to go box as I was in the area. I need to order 2 so i can try some cookies aswell! ... Then returned a 2nd time this time for more to share with family, they loved it and they were gone in minutes! No cookies yet!

It was my first time at Crumbs & Doilies. Tucked away this delightful little shop sells delicious cakes, cookies and merchandise. I'll be sure to pop back in next time and try the cookies

I'm not usually a cupcake person but these were really good! And the service was great, the girls in the store were super sweet and helped me pick since I'm a bit indecisive. The cupcakes all have two sizes; regular and mini, which is nice if you wanna be able to try several without getting to full.

I know this place because of YouTube videos by the chef and I couldn’t wait to try Gemma’s cupcakes. The place is really small, there is a big chance you won’t be able to sit and take a bite of those famous cupcakes. I tried their Red Velvet option - pretty delicious, the cupcakes were really moist. The only minus for me was the fact that the frosting is a bit too sweet. The cappuccino was fine. Next time I will have some to go!
