Everything about this place made me fall in love with it. Housing a huge selection of Gins from all over the world. The venue was once the house of Fogg’s beloved aunt Gertrude whose photos are on the walls. The place has a Victorian atmosphere and the waiters are dressed in victorian clothes including corsets. I tried the Tanqueray Flor de Sevilla gin with the mediterranean tonic with was perfect. I also tried the Elderflower Warner Edwards gin which was also nice. The sweet potato fries were a perfect nibble with it all. Definitely going back.

Met a friend here for some drinks. It’s a cosy tavern located in Covent Garden. It was quite busy when we arrived but managed to snag a seat near the bar. They mainly specialise in cocktails and beer. A foodie friend in Sydney recommended this place and glad I visited.

My friend went for Mr Fogg’s Pale Ale. I stuck to the Punch-Up In The Garden. It was a mixture of Bombay Sapphire gin, homemade lavender tincture, fresh lemon juice and cranberry juice, topped with Fentimans Rose Lemonade. It was sweet enough for me and had a pink hue to it. It was a nice drink that I even had a second.

Service is friendly here too.

Excellent place for a few drinks with friends. The decor and ambience are worth checking out. I usually go for the whiskey here but their cocktails are also very good. Highly recommend checking out this hidden treasure in central London!

This place screams Old English! A patriotic little pub on the corner! A warm, cosy and inviting place to grab a beer and small bites! Interior is exciting although the outside looks pretty normal!

From the moment, you step into Mr Fogg’s it transports you back in time, as the bar is built on old English wooden panelling, and is decorated with paintings from historical events and ornaments from the past. This makes the experience much more enjoyable as the scenery itself is entertainment, and is a great tourist attraction.

For starters, I opted to try all the starters on the menu, so I could taste all the dishes they had to offer. For the first starter, Fogg’s flaked smoked haddock kedgeree was presented, I have never had kedgeree before, and so this was a new dish for me to try. The Mr Fogg’s version consisted of chunks of Haddock, wrapped in curried boiled rice with the boiled egg lying on the top. I was a little sceptical at first but was pleasantly surprised, how well seasoned the rice was and how tasty this little dish was.

When I read that grilled frog’s legs were on the menu, my immediate thought was ‘What the hell?’ However, I was willing to give it a go as you only live once! Nevertheless, be warned, as the Frog’s legs do look as if they are about to leap off your plate! I am amazed at how good the frog’s legs actually tasted; it has quite a rubbery texture to the tongue and tastes like exotic chicken. The banana sauce accompanying the legs does make them taste even yummier. I would recommend the Frog’s legs as it definitely breaks the norm and it is always a good idea to try something new- if not, there are always the sweet potato wedges that also come with the legs to nibble on instead.

Next to try were the crispy herb tempura prawns, which are accompanied by a spicy dip. This dip absolutely makes the dish, as the dish uses more savoury spices rather than sweet spices. The spicy dip does not set the taste buds completely on fire, but rather it enhances the taste of the prawns, makes them yummier. This dip was everything, which leads me to also try it out with the frog’s legs.

Can you believe that all these dishes were just starters? Our main had not come yet.

Therefore, for my main, I chose the lobster and avocado salad, which is drizzled with zesty grapefruit dressing. To be honest, I did enjoy the salad, but the grapefruit dressing was too citrus for me as before the dish my palette was quite savoury, which unfortunately aided in enhancing the zest. The salad was well prepared and very refreshing.

I did manage to steal some of my friend’s oven-baked salmon, which was topped with cheesy leeks sauce and served on a bed of spring onions mash. Delicious and the salmon pieces were well seasoned and melted in my mouth.

The desserts came; at this point, I was completely stuffed. The only disappointing factor was I could not try all the desserts because of my intolerance to certain dairy products, but I manage to try a bit.

First, to try was the trio of ice creams vanilla, chocolate, pistachio. The chocolate used is dark chocolate, is very rich, and therefore needs to be tried with other flavours as each flavour compliments each other. The pistachio is quite savoury and therefore calms the richness of dark chocolate. The vanilla ice cream is quite bland, so the dark chocolate enhances the taste.

Next to try were the glazed drunken figs, served with mascarpone cream. The initial taste was nice but annoyingly sweet, so it is best to serve as a sharing dish as the taste is quite intense and unique for one person. The figs have an acquired taste but if you have a sweet tooth, this is for you! I would recommend trying this dish first as the taste is quite complex but the more you taste the figs, you will also taste different flavours of the figs.

Lastly, the strawberry jelly parfait, which is a British traditional favourite, and immediately brought back childhood memories. My friends and I started to reminisce over childhood party memories whilst eating this dessert, which was a great way to end the brunch.

Now the question on your lips, whilst reading this review is- ‘what do the punches taste like? Well luckily, I tasted all the punches, which seemed to be a good idea at the time, but perhaps not for the rest of the day.
The punch of Bison was my least favourite but only because it is vodka based and is citrus, which is not my style. Zubrówka Bison grass vodka, Belvedere grapefruit vodka, orange juice, earl grey tea and honeydew melon syrup was used when making this punch.

One punchy G&T, which consist of Bombay London, dry Gin, homemade lavender syrup, and fresh lemon juice and grapefruit tonic, topped with sparkling wine. This is a great punch if you love Gin and want a refreshing Gin punch to accompany your food.

Punch-Gin above one’s weight; A cinnamon infused star of Bombay London, dry Gin, lemon juice and cranberry juice, topped with Rose lemonade. This punch not only looks beautiful but also tastes amazingly sweet. A girly gin cocktail that goes down a treat!

However, of course, my favourite punch had to be rum based; Bacardi Carta Oro rum, Luxardo maraschino cherry liquor, pineapple syrup and lime juice, topped with soda water. This drink was made very strong but with just the right amount of sweetness. This punch was called the Rumpy Pumpy punch.

Price: ££
(3 courses for £38, including 1 hour and 31 mins of punch)
(3 courses for £32)

What to wear: Casual

Ambience: Traditional British feel with staff that are very informative and passionate about Mr Fogg’s.

It’s always nice when you are out for a warm early eve wander and you discover cool places to drink and eat. Even around Covent Garden which is essentially one of the tourist central locations, there is the odd cool joint where you are amongst locals. Mr Fogg’s is one of these spots. Just off theatre land there are two parts to this wonderful surprise. There is the tavern come drinking salon with an entrance on St Martins Lane. The interior is very old school pub themed around Phileas Fogg (hence the name). Then there is the Gin parlour upstairs which you access from an unassuming door on a pedestrianised side street. You are greeted by a host kitted out in the gear of derby hat, sleeve garters and waistcoat. We headed for the gin palace.

As you head up a narrow staircase you past quirky and eccentric paraphernalia from days past. Chintz prints, mahogany furniture, vibrant gold, chaise longues, stools with tapered legs all add a cosiness and warmth to this first floor bar area. It is very authentic and a good theatre piece for someone wanting something different. Now whilst there is an area which has a focus on Gin, the bar offers a distinctively creative cocktail offering with all colours paying a part. From rum to whisky, from vodka to tequila, the large cocktail list experiments with infusions, aromas and seasonings.

I am not a cocktail connoisseur; I know what I like but this place really inspires you to trust the two female bartenders mixing up a storm. It is always a pleasure to see a lady behind the bar anyways, but ones with obvious extended knowledge is a big thumb’s up.

We were enticed to have a Rictusempra with vodka citron, butterfly pea flower infused St Germain elderflower liqueur, grapefruit juice and soda water. I had the Spicy Rupee with vodka, elderflower cordial, honey, lemon and chilli. I can safely say that we were guided to the right choices as we both enjoyed them a great deal. As it was a flying visit, we didn’t get a chance for seconds but this is totally a spot for someone wanting to experience fabulous cocktails with a dash of girl power.

Have you heard the tale of Phileas Fogg? The fictional character said to have navigated around the world in 80 days?. Well there's more to this tale of adventure that you might have known and it makes the perfect backstory to a fabulous restaurant-come-pub right in London's theatre-land:. Whilst making his way across the globe, Phileas' dear aunt Gertrude died leaving him as the sole beneficiary of her London home. Together with her loyal housekeeper, Fanny McGee, they turned it into a rowdy tavern where she could celebrate with her theatrical chums. As soon as you step inside, you're greeted with all sorts of curious objects from Phileas' travels around the world. Flags hanging from the ceiling, taxidermy on the walls, waiting staff in traditional victorian dress...it's not your regular West End pub, but that's all part of its charm!

Sadly, I was never one of those creative children who had an imaginary friend whilst growing up…. But, I’ve managed to make one later on in life – Phileas Fogg Esq., the great British explorer brought to life in Jules Vernes’ timeless novel, Around The World in Eighty Days.
I often frequent Fogg’s treasure trove of a residence in Mayfair, not least for the cracking cocktails. And then there’s the charming pied- à-terre in Covent Garden that he inherited from his auntie, the famous actress, Gertrude Fogg…

When I walked into Mr Fogg’s Tavern located on St Martin’s Lane I found myself in a busy pub with chalkboards advertising ‘mother’s ruin’ gin cocktails and grog, patrons were drinking from old-fashioned tankards and the food was billed as ‘honest fare’ serving ‘London’s finest pie’, sandwiches and roasts all day – it was sort of like stepping back in time to Victorian London.

One of the best things about London is its collection of hidden gems and that marvelous feeling when you know that you've found a real diamond. That's exactly how I felt as I wandered into Mr Fogg's Tavern (and back in time!) in Covent Garden for lunch with Colleen this week. The Tavern is a new adventure for Phileas as he inherited the venue after the passing of his beloved Aunt Gertrude Fogg last year. And so it is that Phileas is now the sole owner of 58 St. Martins Lane and Gertrude's former housekeeper, Fanny McGee is the landlady.

Exciting news, ladies and gents. There’s a new watering hole in town and it’s been launched by none other than the globe-trotting explorer, Phileas Fogg Esq. You may have heard of Fogg’s journey around the world in eighty days, it’s been well-chronicled by the renowned author Jules Verne. You may have even had the pleasure of traversing around the world yourself… in eighty cocktails, from the luxurious comfort of Fogg’s Mayfair residence.

Anyways as the story goes, Fogg’s darling aunt, the actress Gertrude Fogg, recently passed away, leaving her estate to our friend Phileas, including a charming pied- à-terre on St Martin’s Lane, off Covent Garden… And as per her last wishes, Phileas has let the vivacious Fanny McGee, Gertrude’s lifelong housekeeper, convert the downstairs bit into a “tavern” for her friends, whilst maintaining the salon upstairs as an elegant gin parlour and salon, a leisurely spot for Phileas and his friends to retreat to!

As you can imagine, my interest was properly piqued when I received an invitation to a special preview...

Amazing little find! The downstairs is a cozy pub with atmosphere courtesy of its dark wooden panelling and decor. The upstairs, however, is a hidden gem of a gin bar oozing with charm, and stepping in feels like a trip back to a time of saloons and secrecy. The menu of gin and gin cocktails was almost overwhelming for choice, but the lovely team are on point to ask your flavour preferences and offer suggestions. Really great place for those new to gin and those with an experienced palate but looking to explore more unique gin flavours. We had a lovely time, and one drink turned into a few, and we are already planning to return with friends to show off our find!

One for the road became one to many 😂 Had a great time here and that one drink became prosecco, a tequila shot and a cocktail. Great staff! Specially Martin for your chat and speedy recovery with your finger .. Great drinks and cocktails. Like with any pubs in London, you'll always find some loud people and this place is no exception.

Great pub in Covent Garden! Pictured are the cod bites and chips, and British beef Sunday roast. The cod and chips were yum and really crispy but fluffy on the inside. The Sunday roast was delicious too and had plenty of gravy. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the decor was like a old shipwreck. Recommend this pub to anyone

Walking around looking for a place to have a drink and happened upon here. It drew our attention with the colourful flower arch. The cocktails were delicious! The staff were very friendly and helpful, and there is a great atmosphere inside. Cocktails are on the pricey side, but it's Covent Garden, so fairly standard

Amazing Cocktails and Fish n Chips. Would recommend dropping by if you're in the neighborhood. I tried the spicy rupee and it was pretty amazing. It has a nice zing to it but nothing too strong. Overall the pub has an old school pub and music. The staff is extremely helpful and nice to talk to. Overall great service, food and cocktails

Went for something sweet and both rounds of ciders were good! The fruity strawberry & apply old mout cider had us ooh-aahing. It goes down the throat like slushies, smooth. It also comes with fresh raspberries and blueberries. Worth coming again.

Very quirky and eccentric style bar where staff dress up in steam punk style clothes and serve a range of very funky but delicious cocktails. The interior decor is unique, and the bar is recognisable from the outside with its beautiful flowery entrance. Cocktails are what you would expect for London prices, but they are worth experiencing. I highly recommend checking out and stopping for a drink!

We went to Mr Fogg's Gin Bar, invite only. I had a gin cocktail called Chasing the Sunset, and it came with a visual headset of Mr Fogg drinking a cocktail watching the sunsets with me. It was such an amazing experience. 5 stars 🌟 from my husband and I.
