How stylish is the Goring Hotel.

Beautiful bar lounge for before lunch drinks.

Excellent lunch, excellent service and excellent wine list.

Probably amongst the best and most attentive service I've had at any London restaurant.

Nothing is too much for the staff!

And form is quite up to style.

Perfect place for a business lunch or a special celebration.

Royal connections in no way overplayed!

Home » Belgravia » REVIEW: The Dining Room at The Goring Hotel, Beeston Place, Belgravia. Michelin stars are a funny thing. I remember the first time I visited a Michelin starred restaurant and it surprisingly wasn’t that long ago. October 2012 was my first Michelin starred experience at Dabbous in Fitzrovia. Back then the whole London dining scene was exploding to the point where restaurants like Dabbous, with a big chef name behind it had long, long waiting lists. I had to wait four months for my booking and at that time of dining the waitress told me it was a whole year till they next had open-tables, it was crazy. Now however it’s calmed down, London is still flooded with restaurants but actually the Michelin star side of it things is well-balanced.

Very Traditional. If you want more than just tea and crave more of an experience, then this little pricey spot is for you. The concierge-like service will make you feel as if you have stepped into the upper echelon of society. You barely have to lift a finger to pour your own tea. One warning, while the pastries are an absolute delight, their sandwiches are BLAND. However, if you desire a classy and traditional experience, I highly recommend this place.

If the Queen had a local, this would be it. Classy, elegant and only a stone's throw from Her Maj. Prior to this day, the only thing I knew about the Goring was that Kate Middleton & co stayed here for her last night as a (relative) pauper prior to her big day.

I must admit, the royal connection had me picturing a rather stuffy, old fashioned place but nothing could be further from the truth. The room itself is in shades of white, tables set at a healthy distance apart and the quiet tinkling of china and crystal in the air. A large pink Swarovski chandelier dominates the decor which is otherwise quiet, calm and serene.

Reliable sources informed me a few titans of industry were among those dining, which seemed only appropriate for the grandeur of the place.

Despite being early for our party, the staff were warm and effusive, had me feeling settled and comfortable with a paper and not a hint of snobbishness in sight.

First course for me was a Lobster Omelette I would never think to have an omelette at a restaurant - regardless of the ingredients, however I was reliably told by the regulars that it was a must try. And wow, what a surprise it was. Weekend breakfasts would be a lot different with the addition of one of these! There appeared to be a very fine layer of what I can only imagine to be mashed potato on top, which contributed to an overall silky smooth texture that was quite melt in the mouth scrumptious.

The staff convinced me to choose the lamb for main. Slow roasted lamb stuffed with sausage meat, served with roast garlic and celeriac. An extremely generous serving, considering the side of mashed potatoes (which on an aside, was so smooth I could have used a straw!). The celeriac was a bit firm for these teeth but the meat melted into your mouth and was an example of what a perfectly cooked piece of lamb should be.

Creme Caramels are some of my all time favourite desserts and I can't understand why they don't feature on more menu's instead of the more ubiquitous creme brulee. This particular creation was heaven on a plate. I had promised others on the table a bite, but that proved to be an empty promise.

Aside from the range of desserts, there's also the cheese option. While I was sorely tempted, I really could not have resisted the creme caramel. A trolley appeared of gloriously stinky cheeses from which to make the selection.

All in all, an absolutely fantastic meal. And all this as part of a 'set luncheon' menu on a weekday for £38pp.

Given the unparalleled quality of the food, the location, the pristine surroundings and the generous menu from which to make your selection, this could well be one to add to the list - for truly special occasions that won't bankrupt you.

When many people say to me, “British food is so bland!” I would like to point you towards: “The Goring,” where they’re systematically changing the narrative one authentic British dish at a time. I had the Cotswold Truffle Chicken which was juicy and tender with a lovely seasoned gravy and a yummy corn, truffle tartlet (dreamy & creamy)! The duck was off of the charts. The side of duck leg was mouth watering and tender! I would have loved a bit more crispness on the duck fat pieces but overall completely satisfied! Dessert was a work of art. If you want true British cuisine served old school with all the bells and whistles, this is your must Reserve stop when in London! 🥰

Great experience here. Service was fab and very personal from start to finish. They didn’t forget a thing. There’s a lovely ambience to the restaurant and because of this, it is not noticeable that there is no music. I loved that. As for the food, brilliant! Starting off with caviar (which rookie error, came before our bread 😳) , plenty of trimmings for the caviar. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Bellinis, they were very bready borderline stale. Then my main was outstanding, be it much larger than I expected ! In fact it was huge! I had the duck which came with a beautiful cherry potato and duck confit which was to die for. The lobster omelette is very creamy and rich , it also comes with chips and the lobster tail with salad. Again massive portion! We shared a generous side of peas which lacked pancetta. For dessert we shared a delicious chocolate and mango mousse , yum!! Overall I loved my experience here , felt like a proper traditional British restaurant. Well worth dressing up to come here. Delicious food and with the size of the portions it’s also great value, about £125pp. I must say the duck was delicious!!

I enjoyed a lovely 3 course meal here at the Michelin-starred restaurant. The crab, lobster and caviar starter was delicious and light. The main of beef Wellington was perfectly cooked and cut at the table. It was absolutely amazing! The chocolate and mango dessert was beautiful! It was a great dining experience although the room lacked atmosphere as it was very quiet and no music was playing. I wasn't bothered about that and would highly recommend it!

Super attentive and kind people with a very relaxed atmosphere. Foods are served in the exact pace as you eat them so there’s no significant delay at all. Dishes were boasting various techniques and origins of culture, and they were plated with excellence. Taste was also superb where you can feel the fresh ingredients used.

Amazing experience! Really liked my server’s recommendations! He’s very knowledgeable and attentive. Sorry I forgot his name (Young gentleman with a bit of French accent?) The second server however didn’t really mention much about the drink he recommended to me. I didn’t know there’s a strong coffee flavor which I didn’t really enjoy. But overall a fantastic experience here:) loved every moment!

Decor rather old style (unlike beautiful garden restaurant where fantastic tea is served) but service is impeccable and food really excellent - the gravy for the Sunday roast took three days to prepare and one can really taste it! The vegetables were all not great but a beautiful Bordeaux was recommended by Sommelière, the risotto starter was super - all really special

The girole risotto was the absolute best I've ever had. Lovely meal from start to finish. The staff were all wonderful, and it had that lovely mix of fine dining but with a really nice relaxing atmosphere, zero stuffiness. Delightful.
