A really nice chicken burguer and a good apple, beetroot and cabbage salad made this lunch worth it . Nice deco, friendly and efficient waiters . Nice music also .
What: Burger for Dinner
Where: Tooting, London, UK
Value: £15pp
Food Review: To eat: an honest burger with halal chicken and chips. The burger was swapped from the classic to the Beef Honest consisted of halal panko crusted chicken with sweet sticky red onion relish with a choice of red Leicester or stilton, obviously I chose the stilton (which was an excellent choice if I don’t say so myself). The chicken itself was slightly dry and overdone and didn't consist of much flavour. The onion relish however was the star of the show with its sticky almost barbeque like taste. The chips were rosemary salted and were definitely salted in rosemary. All in all the burger was great, but the chicken needs improving.
Drinks Review: To drink: mint lemonade, lemonade The lemonade was fizzy but not too sweet and refreshing, the only issue I had were the paper straws used, which broke down half way through (perhaps that is just me though).
When I next visit I would: like to try the classic burger and wings and prefer more halal options
Halal: Only the chicken burger and wings in the Tooting Broadway branch
Location Review: Situated close by to Tooting Broadway station and within the hustle and bustle Tooting provides it has a good location and atmosphere especially with its seating
Interior Review: The exterior of all honest burgers remains the same décor with its stripped back wooden furniture, making sure it’s all about the burger and that the customer does not need to dress up to go there. With window seating, its allows customers to people watch and non-window seaters can also browse the open kitchen and can keep an eye on when there food is coming (still not sure if this is a good thing).
The Service: As I visited at a relatively quiet time (weekday late evening) the service was friendly and helpful.
Sum up: Situated close by to Tooting Broadway station and within the hustle and bustle Tooting provides it has a good location and atmosphere especially with its seating
Honest will always be one of my most visited burger chains in London - it's so hard to find a good burger served on the rare side, so when I find one it automatically becomes a favourite. I tried the festive special at their branch in Tooting.
Honest kept it quite simple with just one festive option - a burger comprising of a Ginger Pig beef patty topped with a well sized slab of brie coated in poppy seeds and breadcrumbs, smoked bacon, cranberry sauce and rocket. Perfectly pink in the middle, no overly dominant flavours - my only niggle was that I'm not overly keen on poppy seeds, but I can't really make personal preference a criticism. It was festive but not over the top so, and the brie was a generous slab, no stinginess on toppings here.
Pssst... I can't talk about Honest without giving the infamous rosemary salted chips a mention. They're served on the side with every burger and are proper squishy yet crispy chip shop style chips to die for.
