I love this restaurant. I have been coming here for over 15 years. Sometimes the hanging decorations change, sometimes the dishes change, but the core is always the same. Excellent food. Authentic. Relaxed.
north london is supposed to be home to a fair number of turkish restaurants. i happen to have two of these on the road that i live on. one on highbury park and the other up blackstock road. a saturday afternoon found me at iznik , in the company of o and i. there is no mistaking the turkish identity of iznik. its décor bears the unmistakable stamp of turkish tiles and lamps. the lighting is dim and gives the space a tavern like feel. what i love about turkish food is the wholesome flavors, usually emphasized with very little spice save salt, some herbs and lemon. the turks love yoghurt and will use it to add a creamy and yet tangy taste to their foods. o's warm mezze of courgette and feta cheese fritters came with a yoghurt dip with cucumber, garlic and mint; a turkish rendition of greek tzatziki or asian raita. i started with a lentil soup pureed to smoothness with a hint of stock and finished with a swirl of olive oil and a scattering of herbs. our mains were substantial and we foun
Really amazing food. One of the best Turkish restaurants in North London. Really good small plates, meat is cooked beautifully. Salads taste like grandma made them. Superb gluten free & vegetarian options too. Great after an Arsenal game. My photos are shocking because I couldn’t wait to eat 😂. Recommend highly.
Absolutely delicious food! We ordered a number of small plates and everything was excellent. So many vegetarian options! The mucver (courgette and feta fritters) and beetroot salad were my favourites. Beautiful decor. Look forward to coming back soon!
Me and my friend wanted to have some great meat options that weren't indian cuisine, and chose this place. I cannot stress upon how lucky we got with it. Everything was perfect, even the complimentary bread was delicious. The meat was succulent, the sauces were perfectly seasoned, the interiors and furniture passed the vibe check and overall for 26 pounds each, we got the perfect fine-dine Turkish experience, which was more than we could've asked for. Special mention to the Turkish coffee served with Turkish delight and water for -wait for it- PALETTE CLEANSING!!!! It felt like the chef was writing poetry with food. This wasn't just food, it was art. Highly recommended.
We love the place, the food and the people- having been about 13 years ago it was great to be back.
Delicious starter and salad with generously proportioned tasty main course.
What a relaxing place would strongly recommend.
Excellent food in a lovely Turkish atmosphere.
Cosy Turkish restaurant with charming Ottoman-style decor. Very friendly service and the food is excellent and great value for money too. Well worth a visit if you're in North London or after an Arsenal game
An absolutely delightful restaurant. With the most beautiful, arty charming decor. The food was to die for. Ali served us today and all I can can say is that his attention was impeccable. Will keep going back to this charming establishment for sure. Recommend highly for a truly magical experience.
