It was date night and we were looking for any excuse to treat ourselves at Odette’s by Primrose Hill! I had been to Odette’s before and I knew that they had a very good vegetarian tasting menu – and once again, I was not disappointed!. I started off with the Pea veloute and slowly made my way through each of the six courses on offer. My favourites of those had to be:
I had the oxtail for starters which was deliciously juicy, the rabbit wrapped with bacon for my mains was amazingly moist, and with every bite better than the last I was almost disappointed the meal had finished. Thank you !
Went for first time last week and will definately return again. Good produce and a great welsh chef, what a winning combination! This may well become a fellows regular! Great artwork on display from karl davies that is also for sale.
The roast wood pigeon was a lovely dish although it seemed to have changed from its menu listing. What was billed as roast wood pigeon, foie gras, pickled cherries and chocolate replaced the cherries with fig and I suspect that the acidic kick from the cherries would have been more to my taste. Putting that minor niggle aside the overall dish was very good. The roast breast meat was tender and delicious but it was eclipsed by the rich shredded leg meat in the filo wrap.
Chef Bryn Williams has created a unique dining experience at his Primrose Hill restaurant Odette’s. Diners are dotted across a few different rooms so you won’t feel like you’re sharing your meal with neighbours. There is also a lovely garden for spring and summer days, which is one of few places in London where you can enjoy Michelin star quality food outside. Though if the weather isn’t so good, you can always start your experience with a cocktail at the bar downstairs, which is cosy and homely. The chef has brought some really good skills from his native Wales, as well as from his time at Le Gavroche, The Orrery and with the Galvin brothers. When you arrive at the restaurant, everything looks perfect; the area, the interior, the staff… But how’s the food? Michelin has yet to give Williams a first star, but we certainly think he deserves one. ....
Chef Bryn Williams’ roasted turbot was fit for the Queen’s 80th birthday a few years back, I was equally enthralled during my first visit. So I suggested re-visiting at this gloomy time of the year, when the Christmas holidays seems so near yet so far.
Odette's Restaurant has become something of an institution in Primrose Hill since it opened in 1978. In 2006, Bryn Williams took over as the head chef, and went on to become the owner in October 2008, when he purchased the restaurant from
Located in the Marylebone area and most specific, the Primrose Hill Neighbourhood the venue offers you a great experience to try the traditional British Cuisine.
The Closest tube station to the venue is Chalk Farm.
Would say to try from their Weekend Lunch Menu with courses of two( £26) and three course( £32), containing Salmon, Fish Soup, Artichoke Salad, truffle and Toast , Welsh Beef in ale and Mash Potatos or Braised Leek, Mushroom and Bakon for main and Green Apple Sorbet or their Marvelous Spice Pumpkin Pie for dessert.
Odette's is a great restaurant. The food is of great quality, with great flavors and presentation. Their 3 course set menu for about 35 pounds is a good deal for dinner. Their vegetarian and meat options are both very interesting.
Service is top notch, with a waiter coming around almost immediately to clear plates. Definitely felt like a much mire fancy restaurant than the price.
Odette's is definitely worth a visit!
Fine dining, great food, good service, friendly staff, nice environment if people can speak a bit quieter.
We went on a bit of a food tour for my birthday, as we made the trip up to Odette's for lunch.
This was a really stunning meal. We both noted that it was the bread which set the tone for the whole meal. A seriously tasty sourdough with salty butter that just melted in the mouth.
From there, we a selection of dishes from the lunch menu. You can see from the photos we took that they were beautifully presented, and tasted superb.
We were really blown away by the quality of the food. Not pictured was my absolute favourite dish - the Jaffa Cake dessert. Worth the trip on its own, really a show stopper!
All the staff were lovely and helpful.
Well worth a trip, we'll definitely be coming back again.
It’s a lovely neighborhood restaurant done well. Every dish is impeccably decorated and the food is very on point.
A boutique French restaurant right at the heart of Primrose Hill. Highly recommend the tasting menu with wine pairing. The food is amazing as you should expect but the wine is really well paired with the amazing food.
Most of all, you get good non-pretentious service which seems to me to be a dying trade in this superficial world. So highly appreciate the solid and proper service from the restaurant.
Food 9/10, service 9/10, ambience 8.5/10, value for money 9/10.
A hidden gem and one which makes to the list of my favourite restaurants in London.
Absolutely blown away by my first dinner here tonight. Over achieves in all departments. From the sublime Scallops to the perfect Pork. Don’t skip on their version of a Jaffa Cake either!
Limited selection, small menu, so you aren’t overwhelmed by choice. An excellent wine list incorporating offerings from a number of countries.
Food quality and presentation was excellent, accompanied by discreet yet efficient, warm and friendly service.
We ordered a la carte, rather than a tasting menu and were full after two courses, so could not sample the very attractive dessert menu. We will be back!
Odette’s was wonderful. Funny, i fee I should mention the complimentary bread. The butter really was outstanding. I had the beetroot for starters, which was very light but delicious. Pork loin for the entree with a side of potatoes. And for dessert, their take of the orange jaffe cake. Everything was very good. It’s definitely not cheap and the portions are small. But that’s what you’d expect for a place like this. The orange jaffe cake was outstanding. So good. The flavors in the entree was very good. Service is very good as well. It’s a small restaurant and small staff, but very attentive.
Fine dining can be had here, so please expect very tasty food.. excellent service and staff, great wines served with your food. we'll be back for sure someday soon..
The food is locally sourced, creatively put together, and delicately served. The result? A burst of flavour.
My friends and me tried nearly everything on the entire lunch menu: carrot soup, salmon&avocado, broccoli risotto (wow factor), vegetable sides (baby potatoes and greens) and deserts: beignetes, cheeses and java cake on a tropical fruit. It was mind-blowing.
At the end, the surprising price for a (michelin star deserving) lunch menu ranged from 15-18 GBP (depending on whether it's a 2 course or 3 course). In our 2023 visit to London the prices for the menu had risen to 25 GBP.
The service was the one you would expect in a posh nosh restaurant, yet the warmth of the staff was just like that of a family run restaurant: friendly and sweet.
We were so amazed we asked to meet the chef, Bryn, to congratulate him on such an experience. I bought his book as well, and intend to try out the recipes myself in Barcelona...
Will we return? Certainly. Do we recommend it? Definitely! A must!
Just had lunch in what is now the best North London restaurant. I've always enjoyed it but today we had the tasting nenu and wine flight and it was superb. The Jerusalem artichoke and truffle starter was sublime. The wine pairings were interesting and palate enlivening. Cant praise it enough and really appreciated the lovely service: 2 hours became 4 very easily.
Really good food and not snobby at all. The flavours and produce is fresh and tasty.
I love the soda bread and cheese soufflé nibbles before the starter — wish there was more of it.
The desserts are great too, which restaurants sometimes don’t do a good job.
This is one of the few places where I have a 3 course meal with an aperitif, a drink with the meal, drink at the end, and a tea/coffee — it’s all worth it!
Simply divine. The current 3 course lunch for £21 is truly a steal considering the quality you get. Every dish was amazing and the service, atmosphere and restaurant in general exceeded already high expectations. We will be back for dinner for sure.
I took my family for my mums birthday and the food was perfect and the service excellent. We had the early set menu, the cabbage dish was truly outstanding! Thankyou Odettes for a wonderful meal - highly recommend
A fantastic environment with better than average food. Tried the tasting menu with wine pairings, and found the dishes to be of very good execution, but not exciting. Top it off with the pairings being rather common selections and not really taking advantage of the more interesting wines available in London (they are up the road from bottle apostle - maybe have some features wines?). If you are looking for a really cute romantic place, this is 100% it. If you are looking for amazing and exciting food, I would look elsewhere.
The food was so fresh and well made. One person in our party had quite a few intolerances but the staff were patient in checking what dish would be best for them. If you tell them well in advance about your intolerance, they’ll accommodate your request as best as possible.
Not many vegetarian options. Only one veggie options in the starter and one in the mains. So I can’t say I’ll be going back unless the menu is seasonal and they change it up a bit.
Favorite meal in London thus far. Service is impeccable and the food is delicious. Lovely atmosphere. We look forward to returning soon!
Odette's has beena favourite for years for a special occasion - they never fail to please. We've had their tasting menu in the past which is a great experience. Last night was for another special occasion... The food was fantastic, the service attentive but not imposing. Their rye bread is the most fantastic thing I've eaten in a long time!! I could have just eaten that all night. Ok, everything else was amazing too... But that bread...
