I went with a friend to 22 North Street, having heard about it though some friends who live in Clapham Old Town. As I entered I instantly warmed to the cosy atmosphere and really liked the décor with the exposed brick work and awesome throne-like wooden chairs at the front of the restaurant.  As it was a pretty warm evening, they had opened up the front windows which really brought the outside in. We easily saw our table as my name was painted on a table marker - a nice touch I thought, and we got to browsing the menu.  I was thinking of just having one course (holiday body and all) but quickly changed my mind as it all looked delicious and really fresh and at only £18 for two courses I had no excuse not to! The cocktails also looked really good and all my good intentions went out the window with a "gin time" cocktail (thyme flavoured, and very refreshing)For starters I chose the soft shelled crab tempura as I love a bit of wasabi and was really pleased - it was a beautiful dish and full of flavour. My friend had an interesting combination of goat's cheese mousse and gingerbread which she said was fab. I wish I'd taken some pictures as the presentation made it look a lot more expensive than it was. Then I had lamb chops which came with a mini shepherds pie- it was mouth-wateringly good. My friend had roast duck with a duck pancake and sweet pickled plums and it looked and smelled so good and really pretty. We did still have room for dessert  (just) so I had homemade pistachio ice cream in a strawberry sauce and my friend had a classic strawberry Eton mess. To go with it all we had a bottle of rioja although the waitress did get chatting to us about wine tasting (we'd just been to Spain where we went for a wine tasting) and she said that there was a special book of wines not on the list (and not crazy expensive) that the owner has put together and just a few of each if we wanted to have a look at that- it's really sweet, he's written these blurbs about them. But we fancied the rioja so went with that. Basically had an awesome time, the service was brilliant, not rushed and really friendly. The food was so beautifully presented and the flavours so good and with lots of originality.  I'm going to recommend it for dates as it's got an intimate feel to it. Having said that, there was a group table there that seemed to be having a great time, so maybe I'll get a group together instead.  The menu changes every month so that's a good enough excuse for me to go back next month!

It wasn’t an ideal venue for what was clearly a first date. The restaurant was empty except for the couple’s table and mine. As I sat waiting for my dining partner, it was impossible not to observe the awkward first date conversation that was taking place. Both rushed to speak at the same time and then a pregnant pause would ensue. I said a mental prayer- please let the food be good here.

I went to the restaurant on a very rainy Tuesday when it seemed nothing could redeem the day. I glanced around as I waited for my friend.

Despite the lack of other diners, there was a lovely ambience in the restaurant. There were big candles on every table which made for relaxed, flattering lighting, something the couple no doubt appreciated and the playlist of Lana del Rey and Kodaline was soothing.

There were lots of distinctive touches such as exposed red bricks on the wall and upside down wine glasses being used to make a chandelier-like light.

While I was waiting, I busied myself by studying the food and cocktail menu and immediately I was impressed. The menu was seasonal, changing every month and a two course meal was £15. When I went, there was a focus on Mediterranean food that month. More diners came into the restaurant and things started to look up.

Once my friend had arrived, we got down to the difficult task of choosing our meals. Although the specials were hugely tempting (Scallops, lamb with garlic potatoes and red wine jus etc), we were on a budget so we opted for the £15 two course a la carte menu.

To start, I opted for the chicken liver and port pate, pear chutney and raisin bread. While the pate could have been creamier, it worked very well with the chutney and the raisin bread was an original addition. My dining partner went with the roast goats’ cheese, beetroot tartes tartine and pea crest. The goats’ cheese was just the right amount of gooey.

One small gripe was that I had just taken the last bite of my starter when the waiter came to take the plate away and this happened with my drink and main course as well. There is a fine line between being efficient and rushing someone along.

For the mains, I went for the char-grilled lamb burger, halloumi, tomato and rosemary relish and herb fries. The pull of the herb fries was too strong to consider anything else on the menu. The meat was cooked exactly as I had asked and the relish and halloumi added to the burger, elevating it from just a run-of-the-mill cheese burger.

My dining partner ordered the fried red snapper tacos, beetroot-cabbage slaw and pineapple chilli salsa. The dish worked well, particularly the pineapple chilli which gave the fish a kick. The one issue with this main was that because the fish was fried, it made it difficult to taste the flavour of the snapper.

Once our plates had been all-too swiftly removed from the table, we then sampled some of their cocktails. Although competitively priced (£6.50), they did undo our intentions of just spending £15 each on the meal but it was money well spent.

We left the restaurant feeling a little too hurried along but we will definitely be back for the winning combination of great value, tasty food and cosy atmosphere. I’ve heard good things about their Sunday roasts so I might have to return to sample it, all in the name of research of course.

Quite honestly the most delicious meal I've had in London in years. It was just amazing. Beautiful wine too and in a nice spot in Clapham Old Town. The service was really friendly and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We will absolutely be returning.

What a good surprise! Quiet place with a good menu. The plating is beautiful, fast service and good staff. Well located close to the underground and to bars and clubs. Perfect dinner before go dancing somewhere around!

Good for a special lunch. The staff were lovely and very obliging (smiling at our chatty baby and happily taking a photo for the group). Ordered the duck and 3 curries, all of which were delicious. Plus a good white wine from a well chosen selection. The interiors were old worldly British and the crowd were middle aged south Londoners out for a lovely lunch.

Great food and wine selection. Girlfriend the burrata salad, aubergine tagine and Victoria sponge. She loved all the courses. I had the cured mackerel, duckbreast and chocolate fondant for dessert. I was in love with the cured mackerel. Our waiter was very attentive. Great experience and will definitely go again.

Great place for a perfect dinner spot in the south central London i.e. Clapham...a Cody place fill of very nice and natural ambience with a friendly staff. Love the way they brought the complete big billboard for the menu..You have got some fixed option for each day apart from some special dishes.A proper English food which is very rich in taste, colour and offer some out of the league dishes which is what I love about it.They do private bookings as for special occasions and Christmas. One thing to be mentioned that the place is really very quiet for the guests who likes it quite.

I'm in love with their dessert. They serve generous portions of main (and gosh they are delicious too) but I can't resist having their dessert! Chocolate fondant was divine. Eat n mess was very nice too. Good place for a little special night out :)

Great quality, great tasting food. Amazing value. We took advantage of the Thursday night deal, which included a carafe of wine. Small, intimate but lively atmosphere. Perhaps a little warm on a pleasant summer evening. As many others have noted, the chocolate fondant is worth saving some room for. A great find and would recommend for a couple's date night or small groups.

The food quality is excellent and the decor is modern and intersting. The price is the main issue here: £17.95 is too much for a roast dinner and £8 is too much for a desert. They have a smart looking private dining room downstairs.

A stunning restaurant. My family and I had a meal here last night and couldn't fault the food. We had a mix of dishes from the menu including Sea Bream fillet, Miso cod and slow cooked lamb. The dishes were served with beautiful presentation and the mix of flavours and ingredient accompaniments were sometimes unexpected but extremely complimentary to the dishes, for example fresh raspberries within the scallops starter. Not only was the food fresh and interesting but the service was fantastic. Our waiter knew exactly what we needed throughout the evening and was very attentive. The waitress was also great and very friendly. This is one of the best places I've eaten in a while and cannot reccomend it highly enough. Thanks North Street, stunning product 👌

Excellent restaurant with a stunning range of creative and delicious choices. Had three starters and three mains so far. The mushroom main with chestnuts and burrata is a 10 out of 10 vegetarian dish, highly recommend this to all veggies out there!

I simply love this place. It is one of the best hidden gems in London. The food is always delicious and the staff members are welcoming and friendly. Special thanks to the Manager on duty, Aniko for making our evening special. Will definitely return. :D

I had booked out the Private Dining room for my birthday and the chef as well as Aniko (manager) were so accommodating to the dietary requirements we had. the room is amazing and the food was unbelievable. This was my second time using the PDR and it did not disappoint. Amazing food, amazing staff - would highly recommend!!!

Cute local restaurant, nice atmosphere and staff. Intimate but not oversold dining room, modern interior with character, nice London brick walls on 2 sides. Excellent & interesting British-style menu and very reasonable prices - two of us had 3 courses + wine for under £70. Will definitely go back - I had Pumpkin Soup to start, Pork Belly + Lentils for main, and a 'Irish Coffee Creme Brûlée' which I would highly recommend!

A lovely ambience, great chat from the guy that served us. Food was great, however, appetiser & starter came overlapped each other, and the main came around 5 minutes after those, so not enough gap between courses. Overall, would recommend

Always delivers - the food is creative and prepared to a surprisingly high quality. The presentation is also superb. Better food than any restaurant that we've found south of the river (after 8 years)!

Excellent food and wine, with a great seasonal selection. Modern European which isn't afraid to mix cuisines. Great also atmosphere, particularly for couples. The only problem with this place is that you can never tell what offer will be on, from a set meal, two courses for £17, etc.

Fantastic place. Really friendly staff who know the menu, perfectly cooked and presented food. We had the crab starter and also another seafood starter, both were perfect. To follow we had ther smoked haddock & egg on crush jersey roayls and the goats cheese & vegetable filo wrap. Everything was delicious, menu changes frequently

Pretty cool place. Had a friend's going away dinner here and originally wasn't going to make it but was able to free up some time. Simple menu but well performed dishes throughout. Some of the seating arrangements are pretty cool aswell.
