There’s a cafe on every side street in London but Exmouth Coffee Company remains the best cup of coffee in town.
Cozy place filled with a strong aroma of freshly hand-roasted coffee and a friendly welcoming staff. What’s not to love?
Best coffee I've had in England. That means a lot coming from an Australian.
Simple, minimalist, yet stylish decor. Wide selection of pastries, slices, croissants and sandwiches.
An excellent breakfast with many options: the healthy porridge options or many amazing looking cakes. Coffee specialists made on the moment! Had a great time
got a quiche to go one weekday morning recently. Excellent quality, taste and value. 10/10 would do this again.
Intentional or not, this feels very french and I like that
If it wasn't for the gorgeous looking cakes in the window I would have walked straight past this cafe - it has no sign which is a little off putting. But I'm glad they enticed me in, because this is one of my favourite little lunch places in the area.
They have a good selection for lunch, all to eat in or takeaway - pizza slices, flatbreads, quiches.. All generously filled/topped. The side salads are way better than average - red cabbage with citrus fruits, potato salads. And for the area the pricing is reasonable and consistent with their competitors. Maybe a little pricier than somewhere like Pret, but way better quality and way more interesting!
My favourite of the savouries is the ham and cheese croissant with bechamel. For £2.90 it's a good cheap lunch option - it's delicious and filling.
Service is friendly and quick. There is seating but it's small and intimate. I usually take out.
I've not tried the coffee but I'm told it's good and I enjoy the foam art on the coffee I see them serve!
I'll likely keep returning every time I walk past and the cakes lure me in...
This place has seriously amazing coffee! I came here for a breakfast catch up with a fellow Aussie expat and this cute cafe definitely satisfied the 'Aussie coffee cravings.'
Their breakfast menu is small with only a few options but the coffee bar is loaded with so many amazing looking pizzas, quiches, sandwiches and of course cakes/brownies! I had the quiche which was delicious, but I'll definitely be back for coffee and cake one day soon!
This place is great. I found this by researching coffee places near me and I was not disappointed. I walked in and was greeted with a friendly smile, the coffee was particularly good. Strong, smooth and perfect drinking temperature straight away. Not to mention the cute artistic flair displayed by the barista with the image created on the top of my cappuccino. I also got the excellent quiche with a side salad, and was impressed with their serving size. Ambiance is very relaxed in here, with some great music playing in the background. Quite a few solo diners also, there is a communal table. Prices are pretty standard.
Very big fan of this place! Situated just out of Aldgate East station, this unassuming black-bannered cafe is probably the best in the locality (though Trade is hot on it's heels). What strikes you as you walk in is the array of pastries, brownies, sandwiches, and general lovely things. Try anything, in my experience it's all really good - I've had quiches, coffee and sandwiches here all of which hit the right spot - well worth a visit if you get the chance!

A charming coffee and lunch place with a range of good food like pizza, Sandwiches and my other sweet selection of breads and muffin. perfect for lunch and afternoon coffee
Just near Aldgate East station, is this bustling little shop near the cashino. It's not really well signed but you will walk past and notice the mounds of delicious food. Had the chicken and pesto sandwich with salad, and you get a lot of food for the price. Left feeling full and happy.
If you're ever by Aldgate tube station wondering where to get lunch, this place is the one. Be warned - arrive at the right time and you'll be served in five minutes, arrive at the wrong time and you'll be queuing out of the door.
They have an awesome selection of cakes, quiches and salads which you can eat in or take away. I went for quiche and salad and my friend Fay went for vegetable lasagne which I'm told was fantastic. Yum yum yum.
I love this place! I've been in quite a few times now, sometimes just for coffee and other times for lunch.
Everyday they have a soup special for you to try as well as a selection of freshly made sandwiches. The sandwiches tend to have a mix of fresh fillings and on different types of bread. The last time I was in I had a chicken and avocado flat bread with salad. They normally have three fresh salads each day which you can order either on their own or as an accompaniment to your sandwich. If you go for the sandwich and salad combo you will definitely not leave hungry as they will pile it up onto your plate.
They also have a wide range of home baking which always looks amazing, Scones, brownies, macaroons - they have everything. The brownies are very tasty! They also do a range of different coffees for you to try. I would definitely recommend trying this place out for either lunch or a coffee the next time you are in the area.
Great little cafe in whitechapel! I have walked past here a few times and been very tempted by all the delicious looking cakes in the window! Today was the day to try one of these amazing cakes.
The cafe has a really cool relaxed atmosphere and the staff super friendly.
The cake - a baked berry cheesecake. It was very tasty and very fresh ! Would have been perfect with some yoghurt.
The food around us all looked amazing as well will definitely have to come back to try some more!
A coffee shop with an amazing bakery, that is quite heavenly! the shop is quite close to Whitechapel gallery, so you might go there after an artsy time in town, and stand in front of the elaborately arranged array of food in the display.
The vegetarian pizzas or quiches are not usually my favourite, but I tasted an above average one here. Also good news for the meringue lovers, and the ones who cant say nay for the roasted coffee any time of the day.
A juxtaposed decor, quality and clean interiors with just the right amount of light oozing in: it might turn into a habit so quickly.
I absolutely love this place. I was there when they first opened with good quality coffee and don't get me started on the pastries and cakes. The point I'm making with this ramble is that it's been consistent with quality and they have very friendly staff.
I usually go there early morning or just before they close so that I can order my favourite chai latte and read a book in peace so try to stay clear of the traffic.
A must go!!!
God, do I love this place. Discovered after a lunch in the area, their coffee was fantastically smooth and tasty. The perfect edge of bitter over the creaminess of their soy milk. Perfectly poured, it is perhaps the only coffee drink I've ever ordered in which it didn't taste burned or I didn't feel the need to include enough sugar to enter a coma.Their food selection is fulling and delicious, although my favorite remain their cake slices. The service is incredible and the ambiance is so chill, a penguin could happily live here. Overall, one of my favorite cafés in London.
Lovely atmosphere in this coffee shop just across the road from my old flat. Very nice coffee and sweets, unfortunately for me too many of the savoury items have cheese in them (not a fan!) However I am able to get over this fromagephobia for their quiche lorraine, which is delicious!
Great little coffee shop, one of my faves. Aldgate east is an area that's for some reason or another experiencing a blossoming of coffee shops. Exmouth is cosy and unpretentious. It does one of the best coffees in London (perhaps second to Monmouth), and has a display of fresh pastry, quiches and flat breads, all of which are surprisingly tasty. The baristas and waiters are all extremely friendly. The one setback is the small menu. After having visited the coffee shop so many times, the food has, for me, gotten a bit samey. But what coffee shop wouldn't after the 200th visit!
Me and my other half were looking for a nice place for a coffee and cake and came across this nameless, bustling cafe along Whitechapel. Was greeted by friendly staff who gave us time to browse the cakes and when we were ready took our order. The waiter seated us and told us our coffee and cakes will be with us shortly. We did wait for a while but I was pretty happy as they were busy. Just shows having friendly staff does go a long way. A thumbs up from me!
A friend recommended them to me for the coffee - I wasn't disappointed :) They have really good food/ snacking options as well. The sad part is you can't find this place unless you know it or you have it on your map (the coordinates on Zomato are accurate), cos they don't have a sign board. I hope they put it up - its a place worth noticing and without a sign it becomes a cafe someone would stumble upon. Just one word of caution - the chai latte isn't great.
Thank you - Can't argue with high quality, tasty coffee in this chain filled city! Paninis and baked goods are fabulously tasty too!
Passed by this cafe along Whitechapel road and was attracted by the beautiful display of pastries in this Exmouth Cafe. Ordered English Breakfast set and found that the sausages are beef, which could be due to presence of large community of Muslim here. Food is great and coffee is good - service is friendly despite the busy environment .
Looking for a coffee shop in aldgate, and this came highly recommended. The coffee was very good, and I had a tumeric latte, which was also very good. A huge selection of pastries and savory food too. The staff were friendly and chatty too
Quite a busy café, seating is cute and small, would recommend the breakfast bread is fresh. However I asked for croissant with chilli smashed avocado and they weren’t willing to take the order as it wasn’t on their menu. So I ordered sourdough and chilli smashed avocado. A little disappointed but food tasted good. The chilli had no heat so it was a little bland. Probably wouldn’t come again, but I would recommend it.
I love this place. I come here frequently to work and the staff is just soo friendly and welcoming especially Tosha she always serves me with smile.
Plenty of seating, a really cool food options, adorable and tasty coffee, of course! Very pleased 🥰
I stumbled upon this hidden gem last year, how I have neglected writing a review is beyond me at this point.
Normally this cafe poses as a place I’d keep to myself: a sanctuary.
However, it’s too great not to share. From the first time I stepped inside I’ve always been greeted with smiles and friendly faces, great conversations and only good service.
The coffee has easily become my favourite in London, the cafe my go to and the yogurt with granola is simply the best I have found.
Not only is the quality incredibly, but so is the cafe itself.
Whether I need to study, read a book, socialise or merely escape from life: Exmouth Coffee Company is always a positive staple of my daily life.
Their croissants are also, in my humble opinion, the BEST London has to offer.
And on top of all these benefits; it’s also conveniently located!
I would highly recommend this cafe to locals and tourists.
The dishes were tasty and large portions, easily shareable between two people. The pastries and tea were also good.
When we had questions about allergies regarding one of the teas, one of the owners, Eddie, came out to help us. He was so friendly and even offered us recommendations of other nearby places to check out during our visit. So appreciate his hospitality!
Overall, an excellent business in Aldgate East that’s worth a try.
Came here with two other people for a quick breakfast and we all thoroughly enjoyed our food. The coffee (Americano) was also delicious.
Staff were all really friendly and service was really quick. Would love to visit again, next time we're nearby!
The breakfast was delicious! Royal Eggs with Acai & Berry Smoothie 20€. Sunday around noon, we were lucky and got a table instantly.
I dont like tiny places a lot, so the ambiente was not my favorite. Many people passing me while i'm eating and small tables. But thats what you have to expext in a big city :)
Beautiful place, delicious croissant, amazing coffee, good vice, music not disturbing which was great 🤩 really really nice staff 😘
My friend and I visited a bakery nearby which was super popular so we made sure we got there early. We were initially planning to try Grounded after the bakery but the queue was extremely long and it was only 11 in the morning! So as a back-up plan we came here instead and wow, I must say the food didn't disappoint!
Firstly, we didn't have to wait in line even though it was basically full - we managed to snatch the last available table next to the kitchen. We didn't realise there wasn't any table service and were getting frustrated why no waitresses approached us to take our order so it was our bad. But one of them nicely told us when we asked so it was all good.
We were feeling something sweet so we ordered the French toast and buttermilk pancakes with fruits and crème fraiche on the side, as well as syrup. The French toast was so light, airy and fluffy, not heavy at all and was very tasty with the strawberry jam on top along side all the toppings we already had - I absolutely loved it! The pancakes on the other hand were fluffy and what I especially liked was the crusty sides, it's rare to find those in cafés so my friend and I both enjoyed the food very much.
Overall, we had a lovely brunch here and would definitely love to come back to try their pastries and baked goods at the counter - they all looked amazing!
