This is a very cosy family run restaurant, especially the room at the back with the traditional decor and low tables. Since it was out first time trying Eritrean/Ethiopian cuisine we were explained the menu and how the dishes are served and supposed to be eaten. We went for one of the set menus and enjoyed every part of the meal. The dishes are served on a big tray/plate with the traditional sourdough bread/pancakes on the side. Basically you are eating with your hands using pieces of the bread as cutlery. It was an exiting experience and we very much enjoyed our dinner. The only thing that is a little bit of an acquired taste is the bread (injera) as it traditionally has a specific sour taste. You can have your meal with either rice or pita bread instead. The service is awesome, we got a free history/culture lesson in addition to our meal. Very good value for money as well.

A must try for desert is the traditional coffee serves with baklava and...popcorn! Yes! And it is superb!

It was one of the nicest Eritrean/Ethiopian restaurants I've been to. The manager, Daniel was extremely friendly and made sure we felt very comfortable. I really liked the fact that people couldn't talk on cell phones in the restaurant. One had to step out to make a call, which made complete sense since you've come to dine with your family or friends and dont want to hear people talking loudly on their cellphones.  While we waited for our food the staff kept us involved with some games that were really interesting. Loved the food here; it was bit rich and spicy but guess that's how Ethiopian food is. Everything was super delicious and we were offered free tea to end our meal. The only negative I would say is that we had a to wait a long while for our food; for almost 50 mins.

For years I have driven past Mosob thinking it looked quite popular. One evening, looking for something different to try, we stopped by. The restaurant normally looks very busy in the evenings, but we were fortunate to find a table for two. The owner is in most nights and he explained that the recipes they use are his mothers; authentic Eritrean homemade food. The staff are very friendly and service is good; they are quite happy to chat about what and how much to order, Eritrean food and culture, and football…

A very good experience at this delightful Eritrean restaurant - the food is very similar to Ethiopian food with injeera their dosa like pancake being the base food - to that you add the awesome veg and non veg dishes all of which have their delicious ghee 'kibbeh'. The key spice is Mit- mita made out of the local Ethopian chilli and Berbere. They retail this at this most awesome restaurant - we were about 10 of us some veggies and some meat eaters and the food was fantastic. The restuarant has a fantastic ambience and the local folk East African music created the most amazing setting. We had awesome service and here would like to single out Henry who not only explained the food but more than delivered to the hungry bunch ( reasonable experts on Ethopian food) - all in all a great place to go - highly recommend it. Don't forget to order the Ethopian coffee well in advance as it takes time to brew but what the hell good things don't come easy !!

Absolutely love all the food here. I've been back many times and taken a lot of friends over. We love the large sharing plates. Our vegetarian friends too have been quite happy with the options available and the kids LOVE their gelato.

If I'm being honest. One of the sharing plates is actually good for even 3-4 people. But its probably because I'm a sucker for their spicy Qategna and the timtimo rolls, (injeera stuffed and rolled) and can't help ordering those too.

For a group of 3-4 people, I'd recommend getting the mix of rolls as a starter and one of the large sharing platters, because you get to try a variety of dishes. If you have a large appetite, then budget one sharing platter per 2 people. But if you have kids or a small eater in your group, it can go much further. We have never been able to clean up an entire plate between 2 of us.

The sharing plate is a combination of injeera, a dry dish, a stew, a vegetable dish and lentils, that are available in various combinations. I think we must have tried everything on the menu by now and have loved every single dish. Whether its beef, lamb or chicken, the food is just amazing. The lentils are lovely and I'm surprised at how good they make green leafy vegetables taste - without adding cheese! Can you believe it?

The service is very good too. If you arrive early and it isn't too crowded, the guys at the counter will have a lovely chat with you and answer all your questions on Ethiopia and Eritrea and how Eritrean food is so different from Ethiopian in spite of sounding and looking similar (hint - the Italians had something to do with this)

There's traditional style floor seating in the inner room which is great for drinks and snacks. But we prefer sitting in the outer room at tables for the main meal, so we can overeat and stuff ourselves silly.

Do try the local liqueur : Cocalime made from green lime, mint and coca leaves, its a very interesting drink. I love having it as soon as I arrive, though its mostly consumed after a meal. Or try the cochalime in the Sexy Mosob - a mojito style drink with cachaca and cocalime

'Hidden gem' is an overused epithet but one that Mosob's (tucked away in an unassuming corner of Maida Vale) is richly deserving of. London is filled with over-hyped, carefully curated 'ethnic' eateries but they seldom achieve what Mosob's offers: cultural authenticity and warm, familial service.

It is a family-run, cozily decorated restaurant that succeeds in transporting a bit of Eritrea to London- the incredibly friendly waitstaff will ensure that you are well-informed about this small African country's history and geography before you leave.

As charming as the ambience is, it would be pointless if the food didn't measure up, and I'm happy to report that it does! We started with the falafel which was nice but not especially remarkable. However, the main course that followed: spicy, flavoursome lentils (Timito) and a cheesy spinach dish (Ajibo), eaten with a soft, tangy bread (Injera) were excellent. Happily, Mosob's offers plenty of choice for vegetarians.

We finished our meal with some incredible Ethiopian coffee, served the traditional way. Mosob's might be out of the way for most central Londoners, but it's well worth the trek to Maida Vale!

Where is Eritrea? It’s next to Ethiopia, on the Red Sea, and also happens to be a 5 minute walk away from my flat. Mosob is a little haven amidst the bustling streets of London, with varied smells far beyond anything you could imagine. I came here almost a year ago, and I have been waiting to return ever since. A visit from a university friend finally yielded that chance.

Mosob is another hidden gem in the ethiopian/Eritrean cuisine segment in London. The ambience is almost like a walk through a cultural restaurant. Doro wot with injera is the standard recommendation.

It looks unassuming, inside and out, but this really is a gem. Food is designed to be shared and messed with, and is really quite fantastic. I ordered the Asmara and the Assab set meals, combining various different curried lamb, lentils and so on, on their icon bread Injera. Service is slow but ultimately warm, with a pop quiz and some really kind and thoughtful touches added throughout the meal. I'd absolutely recommend it, and bring any foodie here to thrill them. Great meal.

Tastes like chicken. We didn't have a reservation, the place was hopping and the hostess asked us if we wanted to wait. They went out of their way to make a table available, but not before they kept us busy with books and maps about their home country of Eritrea. The food was delicious, the set menu was well balanced and the service was warm and welcoming.

Absolutely brilliant food & service. Well worth the trek. Not normally a fan of "set menus," but we took a chance in the lamb + chicken + veggie plate for 2 & couldn't have selected better. Delicious! My new London favourite!!

Went with my wife on a quiet early week night. We had one of the best restaurant experiences I've ever known. The food, the staff, and banter with the owner were all outstanding. There's a coffee ceremony you can have at the end of the meal, I recommend it, I'd be really sorry if we hadn't had it.

After seeing many, many rave reviews, I decided to try it for myself. I wasn’t disappointed. Mosob has been serving up traditional Eritrean fare for the past ten years. According to the literature on the menu, influences come from Asia, Africa, Arabia and Italy. In traditional Eritrean fashion, you eat with your hands (I love eating with my hands, I swear thin

As we knew nothing and well our knowledge of Eritrean food is still pretty sketchy, we left it up to Suliana to choose for us, and choose well she did.
She decided we would enjoy the Massawa, a set menu of three starters and four mains, named after a state in her homeland.

The whole place made me feel all warm and fuzzy, so much so that I’ve told only about 20 people how good it is and how – even for people in East London – it’s worth the trip.

Went here for a friends birthday dinner. Having tried Ethiopian food before, I knew the kind if flavours to expect. It was busy on a Tuesday night and the ambience was tribal. The service was slow but the staff were very friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the heritage and cultural significance. Especially the idea of eating together from one plate as sharing increases love. We ordered all the vegetarian mains. The okra and potato were great however the spinach and chickpea stew were disappointing. Overall, a good experience to try a new cuisine, however cannot make it a regular eatery to visit.

I noticed none really posted pictures of there pastry stuff or there lahem 3ajeen.. (It's like pizza doe with mince meat or cheese or thyme or spinach) they're real good and a must try!

Because it is a family run restaurant, Mosob has a great tasty food and it feels very warm there. As a vegetarian, there are many delicious options to try. It is a special place for special occasions.

Eritrean food is a must try and Mosob is the best place in London - you'll be overwhelmed with the warmth and care of the food and the family that runs it! Similar to Ethiopian food, this can be quite filling quite quickly - to make sure you save space, skip the starters and be sure to try the lamb, lentil, spinach, and okra stews. Mosob is family run and I've never had kinder and more entertaining customer service.

Rarely does one get the opportunity to try a new cuisine, least of all a cuisine that you have never heard of!

After a lot of hunting & digging, a friend came across Eritrean cuisine at Mosob. Needless to say, we had no idea what to order (a group of six) and to our rescue was the owner. Now the food, the style in which it is served and eaten was all fabulous. But what has ensured that I will be going back again and again was the service!

The owner helped us order when all we told him was that we want & need meat. Between the starters and the main course, he did not over order for us at all, which was really appreciated. On the contrary, as we started eating, thought it might be too less. But the beauty of Eritrean cuisine is that it fills you up in a beautifully slow pace and voila! We were also kept busy with geography questions, which was great fun!

Would definitely recommend this place, but do make a reservation before landing up.

Mosob is an Eritrean restaurant serving up East African food - a cuisine which is surprisingly not as wide spread among high street restaurants.

The food is very good and the staff here will happily take the time to explain to you what's the best items on the menu and which stuff to try out as a beginner to the cuisine.

Having had similar food before, I think this is probably the best I have had so far - very good experience overall.

This was our first experience with Eritrean and Ethiopian cuisine and the bar has been set quite high. Loved our experience at Mosob. The booking process was easy and fast. The staff was super welcoming and friendly, accommodating to our seating preferences. For starters, we had the vegetable sambosa which was really tasty. For mains, we shared the Asmara platter for 3 people which was a massive portion and definitely more than enough. It was really flavorful and full of different options including beef stew, shredded lamb, spinach, vegetables, boiled egg, and my favorite was the chicken stew. Highly recommended!

This is the first time I've tried Eritrean food - it was amazing! I didn't know anything about the food, so I asked a staff and she recommended lamb and vegetables, which was a really good choice! And authentic beer went well with the food.

Very tasty! Seemed like it was cooked fresh to order, it took 30-40 min to arrive after ordering but was well worth the wait! Absolutely delicious. We had the platter (meant for 3 to 5 people) between 2 of us as we wanted to try a few dishes, everything was great. There was a little leftover so would easily have fed 3 or 4 people, and at £52 for the whole platter is great value anywhere but especially so in London. I've had Ethiopian food many times, in various places around the world, and this is up there with the best I've had. Wouldn't hesitate to come back, or recommend to anyone.
