We came here for the swing music and the experience. Cahoots usually has a long queue but we got lucky and managed to get in 5 mins. The place is built like a metro station, everyone who works there is a fun and the music makes you want to dance. Cocktails were nice, recommend Rita Hayworth!

Date of Visit: 19.12.17
Time: 6.30pm

Review: I would recommend trying to book and try to get the carriage seat if you can as this is a themed 1940’s Underground station and it looks great from the staircase down to the cloak room (themed as ticket hall) and then to the bar. It is always busy with queues for walk-ins but staff from the start are friendly and helpful. Dont expect a large menu for food however as there are only a handful of dishes. There is however a very large Alcoholic drinks menu with special drinks written on a 1940’s style newspaper and all created for that era so very clever but they also have a small selection of mock-tails and bar staff are well versed to make anything you wish as they are real mixologists.

Location: 13 Kingly Court, Carnaby Street, Soho, W1B 5PW

Parking: There is an NCP car park in Soho but this will be a little walk away and this is in Kingley court to the side just opposite the back entrance of Cinnamon Soho.

Decor & Lighting: Perfectly themed and done well with dull but adequate lighting.

Ambience & Acoustics: Authentic background music. With all staff wearing themed clothing as well so it really adds to the ambience.

DB Level: Sorry i forgot to take a reading but i did not have to shout and could hear conversations without too much of an issue.

We had the following:

Drinks: Large selection on offer with a few mock-tails as well as bar staff being able to mix anything you desire, i had them make their own non-alcoholic drink for me. The drinks are also prepared in different ways and glasses so it is a real experience.

Food: Fish Finger Sandwiches, Pork and Sage Sausage Rolls. Not large dishes but filling and tasted good. I preferred the sausage rolls which were really meaty and tasted great.

Bill / Cost: £30 per head for two plates and 2 drinks

Conclusion: A great place for an office party or a get together as its different but well done and not tacky. With such friendly staff and good level of service this really in my opinion is better than going to a bar where the music is too loud and where you are not served without grabbing attention then being charged over the odds…or maybe this is me just getting old…I would however suggest they get a bigger food menu.

Some of the most inventive cocktails I've ever experienced in my life. Visiting this place is a great experience, all round. The decor, the music, the service. A quirky place to take friends.

The sweet potato chips that we snacked on were also delicious! I definitely encourage a visit.

It is on the pricey side, but worth at least one trip.

I must admit to liking a gimic so when I heard about Cahoots, a tube themed bar, in Kingly Court Soho, I was keen to visit. Look out for the signs “to the trains” when you are in Kingly Court and you will be greeted by a Cahoots “scoundrel” to check your name and talk to you as if you were in the 1940s. As you go down the stairs you pass the ticket office and then on into the tube....

This vintage inspired tube-themed bar will transport you to the 1940s. This bar not just serves some great cocktails but will offer you an experience you will remember. The attention to detail is brilliant, right from the entrance to the restroom, everything carries the old English charm. The menu is expansive and served as a newspaper! The servers help you in making the right selection. There are  drinks served in teacups to some that come in old style picnic basket. I have been here umpteen times and end up trying a new drink. The menu has some nibbles to go long and unlimited servings of popcorn that is in the house. Cahoots is a place I take all my friends who are visiting london and you if haven't got around to it, this needs to be on your list! Keep Gobbling xx

I love a good themed bar, and had been dying to go and check out Cahoots, an old WWII air raid bunker turned 40s style cocktail bar. I think everyone else in London loves it too, asyou have to book a couple of weeks in advance to get in. But finally I managed to secure a table. The whole experience is all very secretive, starting from trying to find the actual entrance to the bar. It’s hidden within Kingly Court in an alley behind the Sweaty Betty shop. You can spot it by trying to locate the ‘To the Trains’ sign.

Cahoots I must say was the very definition of a theme bar done right. With cocktails to live up to the décor.

We had already been drinking fairly heavily throughout the evening so were a bit squiffy when we finally rocked up to Cahoots at 11 and hoped there would be space for us. They were able to accommodate us at our favourite space – the bar, where we made ourselves comfortable and woofed down two tins of the complimentary popcorn (no dinner had been had that evening).

This tube inspired speakeasy is one of the coolest places I've been to in London. I finally got to come her after months of wanting to and it was as exciting as I expected.

When you go in you are supposed to say you are there to see the captain and then you are led to the underground station like ante room where you can leave your coats and bags for free before being taken to the trains. The girl at the front buzzes you in and you are led to your table by one of the waitresses in 50s style dresses.

The menu is designed to look like a newspaper you would read on the tube and boasts 60 different cocktails. We were offered some help to choose our first one but afterwards we read the rest of the menu and tried a few throughout the night. The price is about £10 for each one so you may end up spending a lot of money. However they are great quality and I think they are worth it, especially compared to most cocktail bars where they are nothing special.

The jazz/ swing music in the venue created a wonderful atmosphere and the rest of the train themed decor and wartime sandbags really makes you feel like you've gone on a night out in the past (feel free to pretend you're the doctor and have been time travelling).

I absolutely loved this place and I want to go back and show it to all my friends. You should definitely go!

Super cool underground bar in central london. I've heard about the place but never been before. My friend and I just decided we should try our luck after a late lunch. We got to Carnaby and almost got lost until I noticed an out of place sign that says "To the trains" inside kingly court. I'm pretty sure Piccadilly and Victoria line isn't running through Carnaby street... Or maybe it was? Got to the door and a train inspector asked us for a secret code which we didn't have as we haven't booked in advance. However after a few calls to the train driver he allowed us to the platform aka bar area. We were then led to the coat station where a funny lad greeted us took our coats and directed us into the bar area. All the waitresses were dressed in 1950s and the music and ambience will remind you of how they socialise back in the days. Our booth can only accommodate 2 people and this is the only time I thank God for my height as it fits me perfectly. Snug and cosy. The lights were dim and we just have a candle and newspapers as menu. So retro! I love it. Here's a few photos of us enjoying a few drinks. Great place for an ice breaker date or quick catch up drink with friends @HungryPinay

I think it’s safe to say that everyone loves afternoon tea. But finding a good quirky one can be a bit of a challenge. But, thanks to Cahoots, you need look no further. Cahoots is a themed bar located underground Kingly Court, which aims to preserve the ‘Blitz spirit’ of the 1940’s with everything from the furniture to the uniforms in perfect costume.

This is a great little bar in Kingly Court! Jazz music and cocktails. I would recommend trying the 'Vera Lynn' (see picture). It's a gin based fruity drink, and was absolutely delish!

The queue to get into the venue was long! We went on a Saturday night and waited nearly an hour! We weren't even given a table! I would suggest going off peak.

London has always been the home of fun, quirky, and down right British events - and Cahoots Squiffy Picnic is the best of the best when it comes to this. Think Champagne, Victoria Sponge, picnic baskets and a good ol' fashioned knees-up in a venue that takes you right back to the 1940s! . Even if you're not dressed the part when you arrive, make sure you don the appropriate hat to enjoy your tea!

The latest watering hole, for all rationed scoundrels to congregate, have a cheeky tipple and Charleston all night long!. Now as this is 1940’s rationed Britain we can’t go shouting about it, but if you kindly ask the gentleman in kingly court below this sign, you may just get in. If you’re planning on bringing quite the group you’d best book in advance as seats go as fast as the rations here.

“It’s 1946, London is being rebuilt after the Blitz. A group of scoundrels stumble across a disused Tube station used as an air raid shelter and start organising underground parties to try and rebuild the spirit of London.”. With the scene set, my partner-in-crime and I found ourselves in Cahoots a few nights ago,  both of us in need of a midweek rescue.

The cocktail menu is extensive and unique, with influences from popular drinks from the 1940s, as well as unusual ingredients such as tea leaves, beetroot and Oxo cubes. Cocktails are served in a variety of vessels, such as tin cans, Thermos flasks and milk bottles, ranging from £7-£9. I tried quite a few cocktails, but my favourite was a ‘Vera Lynn’, a fruity gin concontion which came served in a lovely green china version of the wartime dame in her heyday.

It takes a lot to excite us, there are countless new bar openings in London and to be honest, most of them look just like the last one. But then Cahoots happened and Kingly Court got even better. It’s formerly the Disco club, part of the Inception Group who own bars like Bunga Bunga and Mr Fogg’s – none of which we’ve been to, but we want to now. Inception’s Charlie Gilkes and Duncan Stirling have turned it into Cahoots – an amazing 1940s themed bar in an old air raid shelter disguised as a tube station, tucked away just off Carnaby Street.

Duncan told The Standard ‘Our concept is: it’s 1946, London is being rebuilt after the Blitz. A group of scoundrels stumble across a disused Tube station used as an air raid shelter and start organising underground parties to try and rebuild the spirit of London.’

With ideas as good as this comes the threat of it being all hype and a massive let down, but this one is not. It’s brilliant before you even get inside. The stairs leading down to the bar are those old wooden escalators banned since the Kings Cross fire in 1987, from which my dad narrowly escaped, which leads me to an oddly amusing story…

My Turkish au-pair girl at the time of the fire took my father’s phone call saying that he was OK. She translated his message back to my brother and I that he was dead. How she came to that conclusion when she was talking to him on the phone, I’ll never know. Whenever I see these wooden steps now, I am transported back to that weird moment. There must be something about my family and Kings Cross station as I also narrowly missed a disaster there too on 7th July.

Anyway, let’s move away from the sombre stuff and back to the fun of Cahoots. Once down those stairs complete with tannoy announcements, you’re greeted with a ‘what ho!’ by a station master in a ticket office. All the staff here are in character from 1946 with back stories and everything, decor is incredibly impressive – quirky lighting, trinkets, sandbags left over from the Blitz, London transport memorabilia and old posters. Every detail is covered, not sure if it’s 100% historically correct but we loved the amount of effort that’s been put in and all the war-time touches. Oh and dressing up is encouraged but not vital, thank god.

There’s even authentic TFL fabrics – if you like that kind of thing, which I’m guessing you do if you’re reading this, you can buy your own here. It’s dark and cosy, air-raid shelter chic with swing music beats and an actual replica of an old tube carriage, so cool!

The cocktail menu is a staggering four A4 pages with 13 sections using ingredients such as OXO cubes and lemon curd with drinking vessels such as cans, milk bottles and thermos flasks. Oh and the menu’s designed as newspaper, it’s pretty hard to choose what to have but the staff somehow seem to know the drinks off by heart so can recommend them.

I tried the Dunkin’ for apples (£10) with rum, cloudy apple juice and homemade salted caramel syrup from the ‘Tommies & Dickys’ section, this is a manly drink section so of course I was drawn to it like a shot. Ade was gagging to try the Cherry Top (£18) from ‘The Milk Round’ section but I was mean and didn’t fancy sharing it with him, even if it did come in an old-fashioned milk bottle.

Instead he had the Del-usions of Grandeur (£10) from the ‘Spivs & Scoundrels’ section, a super strong drink with Del Maguey Vida mezcal and Disaronno. This cocktail is made for sipping and as the huge ball of ice melts the drink’s strength begins to mellow (slightly).

The Welcome back to Blighty (£9) from the ‘Landgirls & Homeguard’ section called my name, literally. Along with orange and clove infused Pampero Añejo, it also involves Saffron syrup and as a rule, I have to order anything that contains myself.

As well as anything cherry-based, Ade is obsessed with sours so he had the Cahooch sour (£8) from the ‘In Cahooch’ section – drinks made with their homemade grog, a blend of Mount Gay Black Barrel rum, Bulleit bourbon, Cointreau Noir and Martini Rosso vermouth.

There’s no food as such, but retro bar snacks such as crisp sandwiches and cheese and Spam toasted sandwiches are on the rations menu. We didn’t try these as we were full of Big Fernand burgers, but we advise you line your stomach first at one of the many great restaurants in Kingly Court, such as Pizza Pilgrims, Shoryu, Whyte & Brown and Señor Ceviche.

The only disappointing thing were the toilets. I imagined the cubicles would be like train loos but they’re just regular toilets. But hey, if that’s the only complaint we had then that’s pretty good going. Don’t forget to book your visit, tables are reserved for 2 ½ hour time slots after which you can stay in the bar area till closing time (3am on Saturdays). It’s times like this that being an adult is brilliant, we felt sorry for the inquisitive kids we saw running out as we came in, come back when you’re 21 you scallywags!

I went to Cahoots to celebrate my birthday with some friends. The concept is great, it is a 1940s underground themed cocktail bar hidden in a secret underground station. Cocktails were very original and tasty, priced between £8 and £10. They also have some specials cocktails to share (around £70 to £150). Music is all about jazz, swing and lindyhop which makes the atmosphere even better.
I will definitely come back to Cahoots!

Went there a day before it was open and it was lovely! Firstly we stumbled upon it by mistake and the staff were super friendly and inviting, always in character and dressed their part. Inside the deco and vibe was like a 40s station, felt like you went back in time. Drinks were very unique and super yummy. The first drink I had was a hot butter dark rum drink served in a flask while the second was a beetroot juice and rose liquor. Would Definetly go back again

Great cocktail bar. We had a good time there, the atmosphere is amazing. Lovely decorations everywhere, it really brings you back in time. I loved that the menu is a newspaper and the cocktail glasses are also amazing. Even the toilets are amazing! The only but is that they do rush you to finish and leave and try to sell you as much drinks as possible in the little time you have there. Other than that, all great.

Amazing venue, with such a special atmosphere. “Welcome to 1946” our waitress greeted us as we entered this bar. We truly felt as if we had time travelled and walked into this old underground station and the Bakerloo line. Cocktails were great, and the one that came in a Winston Churchill-shaped cup was just amazing. Wonderful place that I’d recommend to anyone visiting London. Booking in advance required.

The underground bar was such a great experience. The drinks were really good and they had a live DJ. The only reason i don’t give it 5 stars is because even though we made a reservation, we still had to wait 35 minutes outside for a table and wouldn’t let us line up before our reservation time.. the chairs are also a bit low to the ground and can get uncomfortable after a little while. Still a really nice place to visit.

We went here for a friend's birthday. We booked the underground and it was a lovely experience right from when we entered. The decor, staff, food and drinks were great and one I'd recommend. One thing though, we were made to wait outside for about five to ten minutes despite having a booking and arriving on time - not sure why but it didn't deter us from having a good experience. Do check it out!

Great themed bar, tucked away just off Carnaby Street, in the heart of London’s West End. I love the concept of this place; a ‘speakeasy’, set in a disused Underground station in 1946, with the nation starting to recover following the end of WW2. Staff are in character; friendly & efficient service. Initially sat in the Ticket Office for drinks, until they had space in the Tube train carriage (across the road and underground). Pricey but good cocktails. Better to reserve space in advance if you want to sit in the carriage. Highly recommended!

Good service after getting in, okay cocktails and unique atmosphere (we came in just before DJ started to play). But cannot give 5 stars based on the what you get for what you pay. It's a little bit overpriced for what it is in my own experience. My cocktail was like 2/3 of ice cube so for 16£ it's a rip off. If price tags would match cokctails quantity - it would be a solid 5 stars...

Visited on a Wednesday afternoon and seated right away outdoors - wasn't very crowded. Ordered the Vera Lynn, What's Up Doc, Cahooch Old Fashioned, and potato croquettes (they were out of the arancini). Everything was tasty and not too overpriced. Server was very sweet and attentive. Would recommend for a quick bite and decent cocktails.

This bar was so retro and fun that I wish I could have gone back every night I was in London. We sat at a table with the bunk bed seats and had a blast. The menu offered a wide variety of pretty wacky cocktails that were all carefully crafted. The music was from the era and so much fun to listen to. The bathrooms were super cute and definitely convinced me to get the Winston Churchill tiki mug to take home with me. The most interesting drink was the I say Tomato. It quite literally tasted like tomato soup, but as I kept drinking I could taste the complex layers within the drink. It was very instagrammable in the soup mug it was served in.

So happy that our friends recommended this place...and made reservations. If you are looking for something unique and a cocktail simultaneously, this is the spot. This quaint cocktail bar is a former London underground station that was apparently also a WWII bomb shelter at some point. The cocktail selections are diverse and even offer ample selection of beer and wine. No vetos here, even a section exclusive for non-alcoholic drinks. The drink vessels are equally impressive as one of them was Churchill's bust, and another was a giant Thermos. There are food options, but really just snacks. The surrounding area will allow one to have dinner before. We were blessed to have some live music, too, which takes requests and is quite engaging. Assure you have your camera ready, and I can imagine if you didn't have a reservation, you'd be out of luck. But make sure you are reserving the corrcect area as Calhoots has lots of areas. Service was attentive and was not in need of anything. Great job to the team. Keep up the amazing work!!!!

Amazing ambience , classy vibes and elegant cocktails ❤️ I have been to this place for the first time just a day before Christmas Eve just as I got runtime reservation , but I was amazed with the place. The service was amazing , the guy who was serving us was very friendly and took his time to explain and guide us in choosing cocktails 🍹. I am a gin lover , have tried all of the gin ones and personally loved all of them . Food options are limited but it’s better as you don’t get confused and don’t fill your stomach with food 😂. The most important attraction is the type of glasses they use for your drinks I have been now twice in 3 months and experienced the same hospitality ❤️

Lovely cocktail bar with 3 different areas to enjoy some drinks. The post is for the station, but apparently, there is the underground area for DJ and live bands. All areas are designed in a slightly retro style, with Winston church cocktails and others. They serve small portion snacks too. Highly recommeneded for a date or group night out 🥰 Waitresses are friendly and very welcoming 🥰
