Great staff here, helpful & friendly. I had no complaints with the cocktails they were all delicious and reasonably priced. The decor is interesting and there is a great hip hop soundtrack

Satan's Whiskers describes itself as a neighbourhood bar, but in reality it is far too trendy to be taken as such. Also, you don't tend to have to wait 40 minutes to get a seat in a neighbourhood bar. But for me that's not a bad thing. It's nice to have such a cool little bar livening up a rather dull and kinda skanky stretch of road. And it's only one stop on the tube from my flat. Sold.
I really enjoyed this place. The atmosphere is great, groovy hip-hop with great cocktails and superb nibbles. I ordered mini scotch eggs with my long drink and it turned out to be a perfect combo.
Great service and absolutely top knotch food! I went with 5 other friends and all of us were blown away. The servings are not huge but are big enough to fill a decent sized hole and coconut slaw in the brisket roll was a touch of genius! The scallop and bacon roll also comes highly recommended. It is of course first an foremost a cocktail bar and the drinks do not let the side down. I tried as many as I could and thoroughly enjoyed them all (particularly the A&B Sour). There's plenty of variety and the drinks menu changes daily so plenty of excuse for more future visits. The interior is also nice, especially if you're into taxidermy (I'm not particularly but it's not off-putting) and it has a great overall vibe. The bill when it came was a bit expensive, but well worth it in my opinion. A good night was had by all!

Considering this place is practically just up the road from me it took me a little while to finally get down here. I kinda knew what to expect from the place, having been to enough cocktail joints to know the deal. But that doesn't mean I don't appreciate a new one, especially when they get it right. Ambient lighting, slightly weird taxidermy and classic cocktails that don't cost more than 8 pounds.
The staff were lovely - we had about three different people check up on us over the night, and we even had some of the food - if we'd known it would be that good we might not have popped to Street Feast beforehand (that's a lie - I ALWAYS want to go to Street Feast).
The Vibe
Walk past this bar three or four times , cursing the date you don’t yet know, scanning door numbers while wondering who on earth would pick the Cambridge Heath Road for an old fashioned wooing. But you trawled twitter in advance, read a lot about the good and stiff drinks and were finally sold by the mention of an old school hip hop playlist. Satan’s Whiskers, I’ll bite.
Finally you spy it, near a laundrette and some other uninspiring store fronts, and step into a candlelit, warming, old school joint. You prop up the bar as you wait and then station yourself at a wooden table small enough to feel intimate even when seated interview style. When things get real cosy later, you can do a simple crawl around to share the bench.
From the hype and Satan’s coy digital footprint (no actual website, just some social pages) you expected something a little more up its own pouring spout. However, on a Tuesday night, there are a respectable number of friendly punters, a cheerful vibe and some awesome tunes that creep imperceptibly up in volume as the lights get dimmer, and you get drunker.
The Order
The cocktail list changes daily but a good rule of thumb is to start with long drinks (El Diablo, Harvey Wallbanger) and move to short and efficient spirits later. Wind down with a potent Satan’s Manhattan – pure bourbon, vermouth and bitters. If you want to stretch things out after three rounds, simmer down with a Brooklyn beer or a cool Sierra Nevada.
The Game
You prop up the bar to wait for the inevitably late companion and banter with very friendly staff. You text her and ask what she’s drinking – she asks for a Skinny B**** (lots of vodka, lots of lime) – and you prop up the bar with a potent El Diablo (tequila, ginger syrup, lime, cassis and ginger ale). By the time she’s arrived you’re basically done so order another one quickly. You move from the bar to a table and get chatting. She’s drunk after one and you move onto your third. You chat shop, plan your week and relax into it fairly quickly. You stay longer than you should mid-week, check yourself before you wreck yourself and note to self that next time you’ll come on a weekend. Leave after two hours, walk to the station, say a formal goodbye and get something to eat on the way home. Long game.
The Faults
Bad influence mid-week. Crappy road.
Sex Factor
Solid 5 on a Friday (them drinks be strong), a little less earlier in the week.
Best cocktails! We tried dozens throughout London cocktail festival and this one had the best for our tastes - although perhaps won by a small margin as compared to many other fine cocktails we tried (see my other reviews). The bar itself was very cosy but had a good atmosphere - although we felt the music could be a little lower so we can talk more easily. Defintley one of the highlights of our week though.
Favourite cocktail was Satan’s Margarita
Satan's Whiskers had a rough start during my visit, but an absolutely wonderful finish! They actually forgot about drink order and didn't realize that for almost twenty minutes. One major apology later, they compensated the drink, gave us a small glass of champagne, and we're prompt on every other. Wonderful service! The menu reads as a fun riff on classic cocktails. The only one I tried that I'd avoid was the Comodore. Otherwise the drinks were wonderful, including the off menu sazerac and Charlie Chaplin. The seating is a bit cramped but that's a minor gripe. I'd happily return any time for more excellent cocktails! Side note, they're all made from scratch - nothing is pre mixed as of October 2023.
This place has been voted Best Bar in London two years in a row, and was Best Bar in the World recently too, and it’s easy to see why! Absolutely perfectly curated and presented drinks, amazing staff, a super hip atmosphere and mellow crowd, overall a wonderful place if it’s what you’re looking for. Highly recommended!
Decent place for drinks but I really cannot understand the hype and how they are in top 50 in the world with so many good cocktail places in London. Worth going if in the area but not taking a special trip. Their menu feels very "basic" and even the decor is not that exciting
Lovely lively and warm atmosphere. The drinks are expensive and small. Think we paid about £15 a cocktail that was about 2 mouthfuls. It's voted as one of the world's best cocktail bars but the quality of the cocktails was below average so I don't understand how it can be rated so highly. It does have a lovely atmosphere and friendly service
Phenomenal bar.
My girlfriend and I received excellent service & drinks from the staff (Ollie & Yoann) for several hours.
We were recommended to visit Satan’s Whiskers by a local..
We’re super happy that we went - thanks for the recommendation, Lucas!
If you’re reading this - go & check it out, like we did, we’re sure you’ll be glad you did 🙂
Absolutely delicious cocktails.
Although our mood got a bit ruined when the waitress who took our orders was abrupt and kinda rude, things got better once we had our cocktails. We had 8 of them and each one was spot on. Even the ones that wouldn’t normally be my cup of tea were so well-made and balanced that were thoroughly enjoyable. Nice moody ambiance too.
Amazing staff, amazing service and amazing drinks. Popped in mid week and the bar was absolutely buzzing. Managed to get a seat at the bar and spotted Sipsmith on the back bar which I absolutely love. I mentioned that I love a Gin Martini and Emilio proceed to pull out a bottle of Sipsmith London Dry from the freezer to produce the finest Dry Martini. Easily had the best seat in the house to witness Emilio and the team provide a world class service to all customers. Their attention to detail and commitment to delivering a quality service is unrivaled. 10000/10
I had the pleasure of visiting Satan’s Whiskers last night, and I must say it was an unforgettable experience. The mixologist, Alex, was a true artist. I tried the 'Elderflower Elegance' cocktail, and the delicate balance of elderflower and gin was nothing short of perfection. The bar's dim lighting and vintage decor created an intimate and chic atmosphere, making it a great place for a date night. The only thing that could enhance the experience is a more extensive appetizer menu to complement those incredible drinks. Nevertheless, I'll definitely be returning to Satan’s Whiskers for another memorable evening.
Service on point (thanks Kevin) and great atmosphere - easy to see why it’s rated so highly! Probably worth booking as we wouldn’t have got in otherwise.
Great neighbourhood bar in East London with a great selection of drinks. Great service and hospitality too
Cool and quirky cocktail bar. The decor and atmosphere is great, as are the drinks. The two times I have been however there have been issues with service where we made an order and they forgot to bring it until we chased it up. The staff were nice about it though, I think they just honestly forgot because it was so busy and it was bad luck. Usually very busy here because it is understandably popular.
A must do in London. Nice service, amazing cocktail, nice atmosphere.
A + for the professionalism.
I've been there many times, it always exceeded expectations. The classic cocktails are amazing, the signature ones are amazing and if you feel like trying something new you can always ask the barman to surprise you!
The staff is very professional and friendly.
Great little bar. The menu changes super regularly and seems to be a mix of classics and signatures. Impeccable vibe. Very reasonably priced at ~£10 a cocktail + service.
We popped in here last night for a couple of drinks before attending a gig nearby. We were warmly greeted upon walking in, and I instantly loved the quirky interior with the, uh, creative taxidermy.
Having table service is a big plus in a cocktail bar so we were chuffed to find that’s how they run here; we were immediately seated and provided with glasses of water and menus by a friendly waiter who returned shortly to take our orders. We ended up having several rounds, all of which were excellent and well-presented, as well as some food, which was surprisingly good. It’s unusual to find a cocktail bar in London that does actual meals in addition to more snack type food.
We enjoyed the atmosphere, drinks, food and above all the friendly and attentive staff so much that we’ll definitely be returning again soon.
My favorite cocktail bar in London, firstly with the cocktails each one is well researched and made by incredibly well trained bartenders, I have never had a cocktail I dislike here. I would recommend you ask the bartender what they recommend you to drink rather than order off the menu and they will go above and beyond all of your expectations. The cocktai bar is expensive and rightly so with the level of quality they provide. All staff are incredibly friendly and talkative providing a level of entertainment to your evening should you engage with them at the bar.
Definitely the best place I've taken someone on a date to.
