⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Beyond amazing.
I have been coming here for over 5 years and its consistently incredible food. The service is brilliant and the food has never disappointed. Favourite dishes has to be the Chilli MooMoo, the Prawn Puree and the Dal Sag. The price is super reasonable and for those who cant handle their spice...like me...all menu items can be de-spiced!
Yuuuuuummm! Food was delicious and pretty cheap for London. You order a few things to share like you would at an Indian restaurant. We had 2 mains, a side and some rice and that was enough for 2 people. Lots of GF and veggie options. Service was attentive. A lovely little restaurant.
I couldn’t fault anything about this restaurant. Perfect sized restaurant and not rammed full of tables. The food is well priced and tastes amazing. The decor looks good too and the staff are really friendly. Just the right amount of menu options to choose from and the if you are unsure have a chat with the waiting staff as they’ll give you all the info you need to help choose what is right for you. We visited based on the TripAdvisor reviews and we weren’t disappointed!
My partner and I came here for dinner on a Tuesday night. As soon as we arrived the staff were friendly and attentive. Bringing drinks, papadums and chutneys straight away, which were delicious. We ordered 2 curries, a garlic naan and the cauliflower side dish, again all very tasty. All throughout our visit the staff were attentive but not hovering. We will definitely be back. Thanks for a tasty meal :)
It’s taken us well over a year to visit this Nepalese restaurant which made its home on Askew Road in Shepherd’s Bush in June 2014. Monkey Temple takes its name from the Buddhist Swayambhunath Temple and Unesco World Heritage Site, which is home to hundreds of monkeys, considered to be holy by believers.
After a rather long day for us all, the prospect of someone else cooking was a marvellous one and we didn’t want to stray too far. We hadn’t booked, but a table for three was found in the time it took to have a gin and tonic in the local.
No sooner had we sat, the staff had taken our drinks order and delivered three crispy poppadoms with the usual bowls of mango chutney, raita and diced onion and cucumber.
The menu features traditional Nepalese dishes and those from neighbouring India but we opted for the Nepalese favourites.
Mum had the Prawn Puree (£4.25) from the starter menu for her main and it was very generous. The prawns were delicately spiced, although I felt could have carried a little more on the heat side, but all the same, came on perfectly puffed, fried puree bread.
My Chicken Ceylon (£6.45) was korma-like in its consistency, with a thick creamy sauce, dominated by coconut and sweetened with mango. The chicken was perfectly cooked, not the least bit dry which is often the case with many thick, sweet gravy dishes. I also ordered a helping of Dal Tarka Lentils (£3.45), lightly spiced with hints of turmeric and garam masala, this dish was another generous portion for a side. Plain Basmati (£2.10) was plenty for two. Mr ordered Chicken Lasooni (£6.45) a medium-spiced, tomato-rich dish given a spice kick with red chilli and garlic. Mr is partial to a Peshwari Nan and said his was sweet and fresh. I particularly loved the Popadums (50p) and managed to snaffle two, drizzled with a delicious mint raita.
The restaurant is small, busy and the staff are attentive and cheerful. At night, it’s always busy and I recommend you book. If you book online, you can bring your own bottle of wine for a small corkage fee. They also offer a takeaway and evening home delivery service.
Our request for unfinished curry and dhal to be boxed up to take away wasn’t a problem and we left with a couple of extra poppadoms and dipping sauces, with their compliments.
Monkey Temple won the regional title for Restaurant of The Year in the recent English Curry Awards 2015, now I fear it might a little harder to get a seat in this small but perfectly formed corner restaurant on the Askew Road.
The bill for three, including drinks (wine, and gin and tonic and large beer) was under £50, a total bargain.
I foolishly forgot to snap away – it really was that good – but here are a few snaps from a recent takeaway.
I went to this place with my mom and dad as they like Indian food which reminds them of their homeland. We try Indian food places whenever we get a chance. We went here and welcomed nicely and our order was taken immediately. The ambience was great. The food was great and reasonable in terms of prices. We left happily and we are planning for the next visit.
A friend took us to this place and we had a great dinner here last night. I had fish curry which was amazing. Food was great in portions and the menu had all the items which looked delicious. Not to forget that the staff was really sweet and helpful. Prices were reasonable and you get what you pay for. I would highly recommend this place.
We visited this place yesterday to try some Indian food. It was the first time we were trying Indian food so the staff helped us deciding the order. I ordered tandoori mix grill and my friend ordered chicken Nepal and we liked both the items. They tasted delicious. Most of all the prices were so affordable and they say you can bring your wine if you want to. For me, this place deserves a visit.
This restaurant is great for takeaway. The food is always delicious and it comes really quickly. The staff are lovely.
I'd recommend to anyone who is looking for filling tasty food for a really reasonable price.
Cozy atmosphere and great food, love the biryani and squid. You will be served with a complimentary papadoms with dips once seated. The staff were superb from start to finish. Will definitely go back and try the mouthwatering desserts.
My wife and I just happened to walk past this restaurant and decided to walk in. It was a really good decision. We ordered a lot of things and their food is good. What I would like so give a special mention is to their staff and service. We have been to many restaurants in London and the service we received from them was exceptional. I won’t say much but you should definitely go in to experience their service. Keep up the good work!
Lovely little gem of a place. Delicious food, clean, and kind service. We thoroughly enjoyed our neighbourhood restaurant!
Went on a Friday night a couple weeks ago with no booking and they very kindly fit us in. Amazing service and actually amazing food. Not just a basic curry house. Though they do have those at the back of the menu for a very good price if you want that. Very tasty food and we'll definitely be back
Great food, as usual. We've come a few times and every time it's just as good! Sticky honey mango king prawns was a delight, momo's are a must!
Amazing food made me feel right at home. Each dishes tasted different in its unique way and was made with love. Amazing service and well looked after. Would definitely come here as a regular again.
It is a small Nepalese cuisine restaurant. Food was just up to the mark. The Paneer starter was a winning dish. Bit disappointed with the starter portion size. Overall a good experience. Anish was excellent in the service.
Very nice restaurant !
We had a great diner at Monkey temple.
Service was really attentionate and the food was so tasty...
All of it comes at a very descent price as well.
Definitely worth a visit, we will be back for sure!
First tried it as a takeaway and was impressed with food quality (esp the lamb momo).
We wondered in on a Saturday eve and opted to eat in. We thought the place was lacking atmosphere. Staff were really friendly, though service could be slicker. Kept bringing wrong items to our table and taking away cutlery between courses but not replacing them. Bill came to £45 for a 2 course meal for 2 and 3 large beers - can't really complain!
Incredible food, superb service and just a great atmosphere. You will not find a better dining experience in West London. I took my mum for her Birthday and they really looked after her from start to finish.. I will be back time and time and time again!!! Bravo
This is a place where I will come back over and over again. Food is delicious, service is super friendly, prices are very reasonable and the menu is vast! Momos are deliciouuuuus! Chicken butter masala was incredible too. Lucky to live nearby!
Fantastic local Nepalese. We get take-away mostly which has always been excellent. Management and staff are superb - welcoming and efficient.
Such a gem of a place. The food is fantastic, the owner is great, be sure to ask for his recommendations. It is a really pleasant walk from ravenscourt park, if you’re looking for a nice evening out!
Lovely intimate restaurant.. Great atmosphere with amazing warm and friendly staff .. will definitely be back
Mango kulfi is a MUST!
Our first time being here and have to say the food was great and the staff were polite and friendly. Had a great time. Highly recommended!
Been coming here for 6 odd years. Food is always phenomenal, staff amazingly friendly and professional. Couldn’t recommend it more!
Incredible dining experience, very romantic and such gooood food 🤩 we took the waiters recommendation to get more starters to share between 2 people - best idea!
The food here is Ssoooooo good. Please go!!! Challenge yourself to have lots of different types of dishes. Superb food
Totally recommendable! A great service, spicy, yummy food at reasonable prices. We'll come back when we are in the vicinity next time.
