We had dinner here and I can't recommend it enough! We were given a warm welcome and I was offered a taste of two different red wines which was appreciated. We ordered a cheese and a ham ploughman's and this was combined onto one large sharing board, not only did it look amazing, everything was fresh and tasted great! The chef/landlord took time out to talk to us about the food and where the cheese and ham had come from and why it had been selected etc. Dessert was also amazing. Overall an enjoyable evening out and we will be back when we are in the area again!
I brought my cycle group here last Friday. It was pre planned. Wow! The meat platters concept was a winner - nice to see someting different. Lovely hosts. If you are a cyclists this is a very good spot as it has a large back area for bike parking and I understand they have bike tools/Pumps - was told by one of my group. Would bring the group back.
First time in for brunch, we loved the ‘build your own’ breakfast option, it made it really easy to choose an option that our two young children loved. Great food that’s all sourced locally, great coffee and gelato as a treat after. We will certainly be coming back soon!
Whilst we didn't eat here, the selection of beers and spirits are fantastic. If you want to get off the mainstream mass produced beers and largers, I can't recommend the Angel highly enough. The service is warm, friendly and very welcoming. Coffee and cakes are also available, cakes being homemade from what we were told. Cosy inside, and seating and tables outside I would definitely recommend popping in.
We dropped in after a camping trip and had a delicious ham salad freshly prepared. No idea how the grated carrot was prepared but it was delicious. The coleslaw was homemade and the meal was well presented. I finished off with a scone which was fresh out of the oven; yum.
I always judge a place by its toilets and The Angel Inn's toilets are very clean and had fresh gladioli in there. I really like that there is a baby grand piano for anyone to play on and that there are toys and games available to keep people amused.
The husband and wife team have plans for the outside space/garden and the bar (pub side of things) hasn't even been open a year yet so they have done really well with sourcing all the local produce and beers etc. The family wine goes down well with me. I understand they are in phase 1 of their plans which will take time (and no doubt extra funds) to come to fruition.
P.S. My daughter and I returned less than a week later to try the gelato and the Bakewell tart flavour is to die for! Don't tell everyone though as I want to have it again when I go back!
We stopped here for lunch after a walk by the river with the dog. Welcoming team. Had a sharing cheese and ham ploughman’s. Food was fabulous. Best ploughman’s we’ve ever tasted.
Popped in for a breakfast today, the food was amazing and the atmosphere in this wonderfully unique venue was very warm and friendly.
The landlady and landlord were very welcoming and obviously pride themselves in sourcing local, quality food and speciality drinks.
We will be back to sample one of their sharing boards very soon.
Amazing local food! We had the most beautiful breakfast , service was great and accommodated for children. We will be returning and telling all our friends!
Had the best cheese ploughman's ever!! Cheese was called black bomber from Snowdonia and was very tasty the bread was homemade with home made coleslaw, balsamic vinegar pickled onions were just gorgeous, will definitely be going back when we are next in the area.
Wonderful local pub. Great wines and beers . Great atmosphere and the food looks amazing! Our favourite go to pub 😀
Really great pub, with very friendly and helpful landlords. Great local beer and produce. Missed opportunity with what could be a great beer garden out the back with abit of work
A seriously impressive Pub restaurant in Loddon serving the best of locally sourced produce beautifully cooked and served. Such amazing welcoming service by Jo and her husband who own the Angel.
Highly recommend for quality of food and originality. Fully equipped to cater for cyclists.
21 of us had lunch at the Angel in April 2023. The chef has prepared some fabulous charcuterie and crudités boards and made delicious fresh bread for us. The rhubarb and fragrance cake was yummy. The place also welcomes cyclists. Thoroughly recommend
Some decent ales at reasonable prices. Good atmosphere under new ownership.
If you did a set menu breakfast with beans and decent cola for less than 17 quid though I'd be over again and again for that.
What a gem of a find The Angel turned out to be! Under new ownership, and currently being developed further, we ate a lovely, locally sourced, breakfast. The team was very friendly, and couldn’t do enough for us. Even the dog enjoyed one of the “dog sausages”. We will definitely be back. Thank you, and the very best of luck in your new venture!
Great combination of pub and relaxed eating. Lovely couple Jo and Frank looking forward to the the sharers platters and spending time in the summer. Good luck guys
