Couldn’t have gone to a nicer pub! We were soaked after a long dog walk and the landlord Paul couldn’t have been nicer. We went back in the evening for something to eat and the food was lovely. I highly recommend this pub and it is very dog friendly as they have Poppy the lovely Viszla. We will be back! I

Moored up on the canal and walked over for a bevvy and meal. Didn't book, it was a Tuesday. Very friendly staff. Good menu. Food was well cooked and presented. Very large portions. Everyone eat up and enjoyed. I had rump steak, very generous cut and the biggest pot of peppercorn sauce I have ever had. Great selection of ales and drinks. Highly recommended. Made our holiday even more enjoyable. Many thanks for a great evening.

Lovely place overlooking the Llangollen canal and a gorgeous view. I had hake and chips, very nice, my other half had a halloumi, aubergine and flat mushroom burger. Very nice, almost worth going veggie for. And Ziggy our dog was fussed over, so he was happy with that.

Went in on the off chance they had gluten free options yesterday. My family and I were made to feel very welcome and I had gluten free fish and chips..although there were other options to chose from. It was delicious and the staff were really helpful and friendly. We will definitely go back in the future. Highly recommend visiting here if you are near by

Four of us went for the Curry Night and was really happy with the quality of food and the warm and friendly atmosphere. Both dogs were able to come into the pub whilst we ate. The dogs had treats and water and the whole evening was just great.. Wonderful place.

Eleven of us arrived at 2pm for Mother's Day lunch, table was ready, first thing to notice how polite the staff were. We all ordered our meals of many different choices, I went for the Mother's Day special 3 course, which I enjoyed very much, as did the rest of my family with their chosen meals, the grandchildren soon polished theirs off too. If we needed anything, we asked and were received with polite helpfulness each time. I don't usually go to get drinks from bar but did yesterday and luckily the barman was lovely, very helpful as I kept forgetting my list, he went to the table for me to check, you don't get that kindness in many places. So our day was lovely food, lovely staff, will certainly be returning again as we only live within half hour journey away, lucky for us.

We went for a lovely 12 mile hike yesterday and there was a party of 7 of us. We arrived at the pub and the staff were very polite. I ordered the Sunday Roast and it was by far the best Sunday Roast I have ever had in my life (don't tell my mother) 5 of our party had the roasts and 2 ordered burgers and I can confirm that not a single drop of food was left on any of the plates. Brilliant meal.

Staying in Sunbank Cottage for a couple of days and popped in yesterday for a drink. Decided we would have a meal there tonight. Four adults and two children and we had starters and main meals. Sharing platter was amazing with the nicest onion rings I've ever tasted. Kids demolished their meals. Adults main meals were beautiful and enormous portions. One of the best meals in a long time. Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. thank you

My husband and I are known as "seasonal locals" in this pub as we are always here for a few weeks at Eisteddfod time. We are always made to feel so welcome by the owners PJ & Katie, the regulars, and the lovely staff always polite, helpful and friendly, thanks guys . And I agree with whoever mentioned the onion rings. - the best I've ever had!!

Went to this pub with a group of delegates from a training course. Ordered the steak and ale pie which a friend described as looking like a tortoise in size. A wonderful tasting pie with chips. The atmosphere was great, went on a Wednesday and took part in the traditional pub quiz (none of this smartphone quiz nonsense, proper old fashioned pen and paper quiz). Had a great night and would go back again.

Amazing! Eaten here countless times, never let me down! Really really good food, great menu including tasty desserts. Lovely interior, especially if you can get a spot by the fire. Very cool urinals in the men’s toilets made from old beer kegs. Lots of inside seats available, outdoor seating too if you’d prefer. Nice friendly staff, and of course Poppy, the owners’ beautiful dog I’ve met a few times. Great location for local walks, carry on up the lane to head up to the Panorama walk, or cross the road to head onto the Llangollen canal. Not a lot will beat a pint by their fire in the winter time!

Fabulous place, spend a few hours on the hills above taking in the view, which is awesome, then go down to the Sun Inn, for a couple of pints and a great bite to eat. You will not regret it. Marvellous

Our number one place for a Sunday lunch😁 In all fairness we have had numerous meals here and every one has been spot on. They also have home made puddings that change on a regular basis, lovely😁👍 Very much a dog friendly pub with beautiful views of the Llangollen valley.

Lovely comfortable pub with a friendly atmosphere and a homely feel... Great staff who are polite and friendly... And very welcoming.... Very busy at times as it is popular with locals, walkers and holiday makers alike... We had a meal and it was quickly prepared and served...it was very tasty In the summer enjoy a drink or two outside and admire the views of the Welsh countryside... Oh did notice that the pub is dog friendly

First time visiting today, very friendly from the moment we stepped in, food is proper pub grub and large portions. Definitely worth a visit. The steak and ale pie is gorgeous, big portion and the sticky Toffee Pudding is amazing, large slice to! Prices are pretty reasonable. Great views out of the large windows.

Happy to have found this pub! We stopped in our campers (self build friendly 👍) and booked into the over night stay. Greeted by the owner who was very welcoming and walked us in. Lovely views and clean tidy gated carpark. Must be self sufficient. Went for a meal and a couple drinks in the pub. I had the steak & ale pie my partner had rib eye steak. Homemade chips and pie was amazing highly recommend this place. Had another meal the next day before we left. Service was great staff an owners are great. very friendly family run pub an dogs are very welcomed also.. have added some pictures of the pub, food and surrounding area. Picture taken from the Dinas bran castle and you can see how close the pub is to the canal, river and aqueduct. Will definitely be visiting again soon! Thank you

Stayed here on a motorhome pub stopover. Lovely location with great views. Lovely walk along the canal into Llangollen which took us about 40 minutes .worked up a thirst and appetite by the time we returned. Food was a bit hit and miss if I am being perfectly honest. I chose the Hunters Chicken and I enjoyed it. Chicken was nicely cooked, tender and a generous portion of fillet ,however The Wife chose the fish and chips and was not impressed . Did not like the batter ( too thick ) and thought the portion of fish quite small. Lady sitting next to us must have thought the same as she done the same thing and peeled the batter off and just ate the fish.I was initially going to order the steak and ale pie having read all good reviews bout it ,spoke to a couple of fellow motor homers who had also eaten there earlier. One said he ordered it and it was a bit bland, his wife’s words ,not his , he bemoaned the fact it lacked gravy and said it was a bit dry, the other guy raved about it ,said it was delicious and full of filling ,so I guess you pays your money as they say. Beer was great, service quick and friendly and the prices I thought were reasonable, so all in all a good experience. Will visit again probably soon and this time il try the pie for myself, probably ask for a pot of gravy to go with it to be on the safe side .
